A Letter from Home

Date: 3rd September 2020
Time: 4:50pm
Amelia's speech: Yellow
Amelia made her way up the long and winding staircase to the owlery. She had sent her mother and father a letter yesterday and was hoping to have a reply back. Once she got to the top, slightly out of breath, as if on cue, the family owl had came soaring in through the opening with a letter tied around it's left leg. "Hey, Ellie," Amelia smiled, petting the owl. She went over to the owl feed. Putting some feed into her left hand, she went back over to Ellie and held her left hand up to the owl's beak. The owl nibbled happily at the feed, Amelia laughed, "Wow, you must be hungry, huh?" Ellie ruffled her wings, as if she was trying to say yes. After the owl had ate all the feed Amelia had grabbed, the young witch untied the letter from around it's leg and gave the owl a quick stroke before allowing the owl to fly out of the opening and start it's journey back home.
She opened the envelope, taking the letter out, she began to read her mother's neat handwriting.
Dear Amelia,
I'm so sorry you're feeling homesick sweetie. Don't worry, I had felt homesick when I first arrived at Hogwarts too, but you'll love it there - trust me. I'm doing great, but I do miss you an awful lot. Your father is quite busy with his work, the pandemic in the muggle world is really getting out of control. It's a shame they don't have it under control like the Wizarding World do.
Your father and I actually had a bit of an argument recently, but it's nothing to worry about. Amelia stopped reading halfway and frowned, her mother and father rarely had arguments, but she suspected that every married couple argues occasionally, so she shook off the negative thoughts she had and continued reading. I hope you enjoy your first week at Hogwarts, send me a letter back as soon as possible - also, I do hope you'll come home for Christmas. But if you're tempted to stay at Hogwarts, I don't blame you.
Love,
Mother
Amelia smiled down at the letter before folding up the piece of parchment as neatly as she could and placing it into her robe pocket. She said a final goodbye to the owls in the owlery and headed back down the staircase, heading in the direction of the Hufflepuff common room to finish off her Charms assignment and to write a reply to her mother.
