Quill Pal Mission 2.0
@Lavinia Cloven
This was her second attempt in this system called "Quill Pals" and Opeila's enthusiasm was mostly gone. The first time she signed up, she had been assigned two partners, both first years and... well, they apparently decided to quit writing back. Opeila would not be the one to write next again, nor did she want to invade people's free time, it was their choice how they wanted to use it, so the second year simply signed up a second time. Maybe she had more luck this time and would get to know a person who was interested to stay in contract.

Dear Quill Pal,
Hello! It is an honor to make your acquaintance and begin our letter conversation that I hope to last a little longer than my last.
Allow me to introduce myself- My name is Opeila Winters and I am a second year Slytherin. Since November I have been a member of the Viridian Vipers, my house's duelling team. I never thought I would enjoy it so much, but I seriously can't imagine to ever leave it, at least not until I have to leave Hogwarts for good that means, of course.
My favourite subjects are Transfiguration, Defense against the Dark Arts and Charms- yes, I do like spells, who would have thought.
I am looking forward to you answer!
Kind regards,

When Lavinia came to Hogwarts, one of the first things she had done was sign up for the “Quill Pals” program that would allow her to meet new people and talk about shared interests. It seemed like a great concept but when her “pal” never responded she became discouraged. Hoping for a better result, she submitted her name again and this time she got 2 partners rather than one. They as well never responded back. She had lost all faith that she would get a partner who responded to her and gave up on trying.@Opeila Winters
Two years later she decided that it was time to try again. Maybe this time she could mentor a new student or meet someone near her own age, she was just hoping for a better run than before. When she was given the name of her new “pal” Lavinia decided that she would let them write to her first. If they never sent then why bother but when she found a letter arrive for her she was excited and very hopeful that this one would work out.May 27th, 2021
Dear Opeila,
Hi! I am very glad to see that you have written to me and do hope that our conversation can be successful enjoyable.
I’ll introduce myself as well, my name is Lavinia Cloven and I’m a Third year Ravenclaw student. I am a chaser on my house’s quidditch team and as you said I couldn’t quite imagine my life without it.
It’s nice to know that I’m not the only one above a first year who signed up for the quill pals.
I’ve always wanted to watch a dueling match but have never found the time to, are they fun to compete in?
My favorite subject is as one would assume, flying class. I know, I know it’s not that interesting but quidditch is my passion and I’m always striving to do better at it.
Out of curiosity are you planning to attend the ball this year? Even though I’m in third year I’ve never really gone to one before and am a little on the fence about this one.
Have a great day!

Dear Quill Pal,
So you are a Quidditch Player! Actually, your name sounds familiar now that you write it- no offense, I just don't watch Quidditch matches that often. Honestly, everyone who is good at flying has my respect, I am not too bad at it, but I just don't enjoy it so much either. Before Duelling was offered, I had signed up for the Slytherin team, but more because of a lack of alternatives than anything else.
Duelling is fun! I like it a lot, it's of course a bit more rough since you go on until your opponent is unconscious, but every time I train or have a match, I can't help thinking thag I am preparing for life outside of Hogwarts. Or actually... in Hogwarts as well, if I think about it.
Yes, I will go to the blossom ball. I've been to the balls last year and although they are fun, I'd totally keep my wand where I can get it quickly, just some advice from my side. The balls here tend to go wrong in some way normally, but as a third year I imagine you have seen thigs go wrong at Hogwarts before, right? It just seems to happen all the time.
I really like the quill pal system. It is a great chance for new students to make some friends and talk to older students who can- it sounds kinda bad if I say it that way, but- prepare them for Hogwarts, you know? So it does need some people from higher years, I guess.
Kind regards,

Dear Opeila,
SO sorry for how long this took to get back to you, as soon as I read your letter I got busy with something and forgot that I needed to respond! Then there was the ball and I had a lot of schoolwork after it. I just remembered the letter so here I am right now!
No offense taken at all : ) I myself haven’t been to any dueling matches just because of lack of time yet, I hope that I can attend some next year. Duellists have my respect though, I think that it takes a lot of guts to go out there knowing that almost all of you will be unconscious at the end.
I did take your advice for the ball but I think a guide to potions might have been the better option. It wasn’t the worst ball (there was no fire I believe so that’s a plus) but it would have been better without the poisonous drinks. Things do go wrong on the regular here at Hogwarts, I experienced and heard about enough things when I was a first year to stop going to things. This ball was actually one of the first non-quidditch events that I went to in almost 2 years.
Did you attend the ball or do anything fun recently?
Best Wishes,

Dear Lavinia,
I guess life got in both of our ways, I am so sorry that I didn't manage to respond to your letter earlier. Well, I hope you had a nice summer and christmas! I am at home right now and I can't wait to come back to Hogwarts. Next winter I will try to convince my family to let me spend christmas in Hogwarts again. Hogsmeade must be wonderful at the moment!
I did attend the blossom ball- God, that was months ago, I can't believe how the time flies- And it was fine considering how it could have gone. Although my date kind of ditched me, no idea what was up with that.
So, what else is new here? I am now the new Captain for the Slytherin Broom Racing team, I didn't expect that at all! It's not like I am a great flyer, so it has to be because of my general enthusiasm I suppose?
For the case that I don't here from you before- Happy new year!
Kind regards,

Dear Opeila,
First of all, it’s so great to hear from you again! I was worried for a little bit that our correspondence had stopped, but was quite happy upon receiving your owl. No worries about the late response though, if you can tell, your not the only one who does it.
I had a very nice and relaxing break at my house but would love to spend a Christmas at Hogwarts in the coming years! Happy new year to you too! I honestly can’t believe that we’ve reached 2022 and that I’m going to be turning 15 this year. I guess time really does fly when you’re attending a death trap school.
Congratulations on your new position of broom racing captain! I was unable to come watch the first race but have heard quite a lot about the sport. It sounds like a lot of fun to play and strategize for so I hope you are able to enjoy it!
I do have one New Years resolution I made, but I’m wondering if you made any for this year?
Best Wishes,
