Parents Are Stupid Sometimes PV Alexa Closed

On November 2nd during breakfast, a piece of crumpled up parchment fell from an owl on Alexa's plate.

November 2nd

Hi Alexa! At least, I believe that's your name. It's sorta been a couple hours, and even though I'm a detective I don't always got the best memory.

I don't think this will deliver til tomorrow- I'm writing this on November 1st- but I wanted to say I'm real sorry. I know I'm not your mom or dad or anything, but I know sending two letters can be hard... Sounds like a lot of needless effort if you ask me.

But think about it! That's twice the excitement for when an owl drops a letter down at your table. Plus, if they were unhappy together at least they're happy apart. I don't know, I've never really dealt with a divorce.

And also, I'm realllllllllllllllly sorry about just ditching you. I don't know what came over me.

Reading a letter from @Ross Stephens.

After Ross ran away from her in the Owlery, Alexa's opinion of the other boy had fallen pretty far. She had been hurt, and then annoyed by his response. She had opened up to him in the hopes that he might understand, because she was desperate for someone to understand. But he hadn't seemed to.

She went down to breakfast the next morning with the other boy still on her mind, and was surprised when an owl dropped a crumpled letter almost on her plate. She read it, and smiled slightly, mollified by the apology and apparent understanding about parents in the letter.

Pulling a piece of parchment from her bag, as well as quill and ink, she hastily scrawled a reply after asking the owls to please wait for a moment.
Hey Ross,

Yeah, that's my name! Thank you for writing to me. It means a lot, actually, to have someone understand about parents. I agree, they can be pretty stupid at times.

Anyway, Detective Ross, it was really nice of you to write. Puts a good start to my day today! Hopefully this will reach you today, this morning even, as I'm sending it with the owl that just delivered your letter to me. I hope whatever was worrying you yesterday is better. I'm a good listener if you ever want to talk about it.

Later,
Alexa Mackenzie
Alexa quickly folded the letter and handed it to the owl waiting patiently in front of her. Once he got the letter in his beak, he took off and soared farther down the table, dropping the letter into a boys breakfast. Alexa shook her head, chuckling. The owls needed to learn to aim better!
