To Lady Aithne Errand Finished

Dear Lady Aithne,

Please forgive me for being slow in writing to you - I know I promised to do so once a month, and I apologize for breaking my promise.

When I wrote to you last time, it was as the bearer of terrible news - I was incorrectly placed in the House of the Lion without so much as a say in the matter. However, there are things that I cannot change, and I will try to make you proud to the best of my ability.

This time, I would like to say a few words about what I think about you. Please do not be offended by my writing - I don't mean to anger or upset you by breaking my long silence only to deliver a few measly words of praise.

Firstly, I respect you more than anyone else I have ever met. I know I have only lived under your care for a year or two, and at your request I will refrain from using the word mother, but you have been more kind and understanding to me than anyone else, and you made me feel like I was not a "freak" after what happened while I was with the Higa family - I am forever grateful.

You made me who I am today. You taught me to be strong, cunning, wise, and never ashamed of who I was. You guided me through my "transition" into the wizarding world, even though I was scared of everything, even you. You never lost your temper with me or dismissed me as clueless and slow to learn because I was muggle-raised.

Also, you never said Father was evil. I know he was a criminal, and you told me so, but I believe that Father had a reason for what he did. So thank you for not judging him like everyone else did without even letting him speak. Thank you for believing in him, and for believing in me even though I'm his daughter. What I'm trying to say is thank you for not being like Miss Abernathy. Even though he's in Azkaban, I know Father is waiting for me. I hope one day I will be able to meet him.

Your obedient "apprentice" as always,

Josephine Elizabeth Morgan

Post Script: I beg you to inform me if you find out anything more about Mother.

Scared to call them my friends and be broken again; Is this hope just a mystical dream?"
