@Adlai Rod
Eeverything hurt. That was the only thing running through her mind. The fact that every little spot that could feel pain was in fact hurting in the most ungodly way possible. Her torn Gryffindor robes hung on a rack next to the bed she was idling in. A stark reminder of what horrid day had brought but yet, one thought remained in her mind. What sort of people were so desperate to hold up a train full of kids that they thought imploding it off the tracks was an necessary alternative? "What did they say they were again?" Elena muttered sitting up and wincing as she did so resting her back against the pillows that were nestled against her back. It hurt, everything hurt. It even pained her to take a breath as the amount of bandages that covered her body were great in number. Apparently, the glass shards had gotten into places she could not have even deemed imaginable and while they had made short work to stem the bleeding, she still back to operational mode quite yet. The nightstand next to her contained a variety of potions, each a different color and all that tasted terrible but yet had one unique purpose, to quicken the healing process as painlessly as possible.
She wondered how much she had missed since being transported back to the castle. No classes, no meals in the Great Hall. No owl to keep her company, that poor thing had probably lost a few feathers in the process, no one deserved to have that happen for them. "Merlin, the homework I'm going to have when we're done here." Exhaling a shuddering sigh, she reached over to grab one of the corked potion bottles eyeing it warily. Apparently, she was supposed to down all of these before the day was over with and Elena had just stared uncomprehending of the directives given. They expected her to consume all four of these things that tasted like Doxy dung. They had to be joking, right? There was no way she was going to down that.
"Suppose it could be worse." Elena offered eyeing the Wiggenweld Potion. Readying herself for the horrible aftertaste and what was to follow, she twisted off the cork and without a moment's hesitation just keen to get it over with chugged the contents of the liquid in one go. Mistake. A very terrible mistake. Her face made all sorts of weird expressions and reactions as her taste buds reacted in protest to the unpleasant fluids making their way into her throat. A fit of coughing overtook her as an involuntary reaction to the potion which only led her to let loose a groan of pain as she collasped back against the pillows fluttering her eyes closed. Coupled with the pounding headache and the practical discomfort of being in a bed for too long, Elena was suffering. She wanted to be out of this accursed thing but no, clearly the hospital wing knew better.
She had even asked for a Chocolate Frog or something but had been decline. Something about diet, the Gryffindor didn't see how diet pertained to her when all she had were a couple of cuts. Then again, the girl supposed it had something to do with the potions she was taking and suddenly, the brunette decided she was not in the market to start suddenly sprouting goblin ears or something. Nope, fine, she would take the stupid potion and the food that they thought was edible in this place. Healthy food, they could at least make it sound appealing. Three days, she had been here for a total of three days. Two more and she would back on her feet. "Only a little more and you'll be just fine and dandy." She told herself putting a bandaged hand to her head where she had a bruise that was slowly shrinking in size. A visitor or two would help, help alleivate the boredom that was killing her.

@Elena JangletonA few days had passed since winter break had ended and all of Hogwarts students had been begrudgingly carted back to the magical institution of learning. Of course, what felt like mounds of work, was being assigned to students by their professors after they arrived back from their vacations. Adlai, not being the studious type of person, of course procrastinated all of the early work and ended up having to do it all last minute. Once all the work was done however, she felt much better and was able to take notice of the fact that she had not seen her dear friend Elena for quite some time. Or even any of the other Gryffindor students...
It was strange, when Adlai looked for Elena in her usual hiding places, in the great hall during meal time, and even during her class schedule she could not be found. This of course causing Adlai to worry, perhaps she's moved schools?- she thought but then decided other wise because Elena would have for sure told her if she was being transferred, right? Oh what to do, what to do? That's it! Why hadn't she thought of this sooner! She could just ask around, Elena was decently known through out the school after all since she was on the Gryffindor quidditch team, right? And thus Adlai set herself out on an adventure.
The first group of people she asked in the courtyard told her a story she refused to believe was true. They had told her that the train Elena was on when she was returning to Hogwarts was blown up! That couldn't be possible, Hogwarts was a safe school with professors and staff who would never allow any kind of harm to come to their students...then again Adlai had heard awful, terrible stories about past events in Hogwarts which she had hoped and prayed were just rumors and myths, fictional stories which were made up to scare first years that followed their way to second years. Nonetheless, as she went from group to group Adlai was told different variations of the same story which had the same outcome.
As soon as time had allowed it Adlai rushed to the Hospital wing, feeling that same rush of adrenaline she had felt when Elena had almost fallen out of the Owlery. Opening the doors of the Hospital wing, Adlai poked her cloth covered head through the crack she had made in the door way and there she saw Elena sitting on a bed chugging a...potion?
"Ya harma." She said walking into the room and closing the door behind her.Ya harma - Arabic expression for "aww, poor thing."

Elena Jangleotn had come to the conclusion that all the potions in the hospital wing were not designed to help you. She had come to the resolution that they were in fact trying to make you sicker. At least, that's what they tasted like, the brunette doing her best to gulp down some of the fluid that was forced upon her by one of the attendants roaming about. As if this was her fault, it wasn't like the Gryffindor had wanted the train to crash. She had just wanted to be a normal student living a normal live on a normal train ride back to the castle but some certain individuals clearly took offense to that dressed in their ridicolous hats and whatnot and for some reason were not lustin after their many Galleons and Sickles. In fact, they wanted their wands and that to Elena was a whole lot more precious than a couple of danky old coins. Still, in the end, it hadn't done them a whole lot of good given the fact they had derailed the train which led to the girl sporting a few new bruises.
The sound of the door thudding shut as the girl turned to look at which lucky patient would have a visitor today. All the negative thoughts and energy she was emitting suddenly melted away as the slender figure of Adlai Rod filled the doorway. It was a relief, Elena hadn't been able to catch up with anyone, she had just been thrust into a bed and ever since then, no contact from civillazation except from the other crash victims and the various caretakers that oversaw their care. So, it was a nice change of pace to set her sights on someone she actually knew and that someone being her most favorite Hufflepuff girl that the wizarding world had to offer. "Well, this is not how I imagined we would meet after the holidays." The female joked a bit placing the potion bottle which had been half-drunk on the nightstand beside her. It was relatively bare save for a few of her belongings which included her wand, some empty parchment and a quill and her trunk which sat at the foot of the hospital bed.
She had thought it was about time, after all, someone had to know that when the majority of Gryffindor House was not attending classes or frolicking about the castle doing reckless things that they were so used to that something was up. "Everyone must be talking about it then, huh?" Elena asked not really looking for an answer. Of course they were, it was not like the Hogwarts Express to just crash and when it did, even she had a hard time comprhending what had just happened. Oh, once she was out of this bed and if her parents ever got wind of this, the swarm of Howlers that the Jangleton family would harass the staff with would be unfathomable. Sure, they were not exactly the greatest people in the world but they took care of their own.
Mostly.
"Did you at least bring something better than this horrendous-tasting montrosity?" Elena asked rather hopefully gesturing with her bandaged hand to the bubbling Wiggenweld Potion that sat on her stand. Her appetite was despertaly in need of something that didn't taste like the innards of a dragon or smelt like cardboard. Seriously, it was like they designed the healthy stuff to be repulsive, one sweet here and there couldn't hurt, right? Hopefully? All she knew was that somehow, someway, the girl had developed a knack for winding up in the most troublesome situations and this time, she had bit more off than she could chew. Not that she had any control over the factors, not this time anyways. "It wasn't my fault this time, I swear."
That would be a first.

@Elena JangletonHearing Elena joke about the situation caused Adlai to give her a bit of a pitiful smile as she nodded and made her way towards her friend. "Neither did I, sorry I didn't come sooner I only just heard about what happened today." She felt horrible not being able to find Elena till now, she was worried that perhaps she would be upset with her for not learning about what happened to her until far later. Though, it wasn't like Adlai had intended for that to happen.
"I wouldn't say everyone...the professors haven't said anything." she said, finding the fact that the professors hadn't addressed the accident very strange. In fact she wondered if any of the victims parents knew about what had happened. "I didn't know where you were or what happened until I started asking around, then again the story of what happened changed every time." Though Adlai understood the jest of the story, she had wished she had gotten a proper answer when she asked what happened. She didn't want to bother Elena about it though, since it must not be a happy memory. Adlai for one wouldn't want to talk about it.
"How are you?" she asked, as Adlai did not know the extent of Elena's injuries, though she looked a bit scuffed up aside from that she seemed fine, it was never wise for one to assume though for far larger issues may lie beneath the surface. On top of that Adlai wasn't just asking about Elena how she was physically, she wanted to know how Elena was feeling as well.

@Adlai Rod
Elena was just inherently thankful she had someone else to talk to that wasn't in the form of one of the over-protective house- elves or the four walls that made up this hospital wing. There were only so many ways to appease your boredom while being stuck in a bed with bandages and casts plastered all over you. "A bit banged up but overall just thankful I wasn't the one who had a train car dropped on their leg." She winced just thinking about that, poor boy. None of them had done anything to warrant a heist of any kind and yet out of the blue, these supposed odd-looking men had boarded the train and in some miraclous way managed to cause the entire train car full of Gryffindors to go reeling off into the snowy terrain. She didn't know how they had done that nor did she care, all the girl knew was that the impossible had been done.
The train wasn't supposed to crash. It just wasn't, it was all apart of a magical routine she had gotten used to. If she told anyone else, they would probably think she was crazy or lost a few marbles somewhere because how on Merlin was it possible that the Hogwarts Express that had been channeling students back and forth for who knew how long had actually derailed? "I just don't get it, Adlai." Elena muttered frowning running a palm through her hair as she sat up against her bed resting her back against the pillows that were supporting her body weight. "It's not supposed to crash. It's the Hogwarts Express. It just doesn't." The girl reaffirmed to her friend looking to her for some sort of reassurance that yes, this was out of the normal. In all her three years at Hogwarts, the thought didn't even cross her mind but then again, it never really did because it literally had never happened before.
So why?
In truth, it was a sort of unjarring feeling. Yes, it was perhaps resonable to expect things out of the ordinary would happen at Hogwarts, it was after all a school of magic and magic tended to go wrong at some times. However, when you were away from the welcoming arms of the castle and tucked away into your safe spaces elsewhere whether it be home or anywhere else in the wizarding world, you wouldn't think anything else would be as daring as to rear it's head. "It was sort of scary honestly." The girl confessed shooting a dissapointed glance at her torn Gryffindor robes which lay in a clump nearby. Yeah, she was going to have to do something about that, somehow, she didn't think Reparo would be enough to take care of wardrobe issues. "Like, it doesn't matter whether we're at Hogwarts or not, trouble just seems to pop up anywhere."
If anything, it had proved to her that it was not only the castle they had to be wary. In truth, she had felt safer back at the estate than the castle due to recent happenings but now, even that seemed like a fairy-tale compared to what she had just been through. What sort of low-lifes held up school-children just returning back from their familes on Christmas break? "I don't even know who they were, just boarded the train demanding for our wands and then next thing you know, boom." She said gesturing with her hands to indicate the train crash shaking her head. No money, nothing of monetary value, they wanted the wands, a philsophy that confused her. Oh, when her father found out, the amount of Howlers that would swarm the Headmaster's office would be unstoppable.
"My dad's going to be furious when he finds out."
Not about her but he had to put up the act so no one posed any questions. It was a bittersweet moment but one she had learned to adapt well to at this point.

@Elena Jangleton"I agree, it is very odd that something like that could happen but this also is a school for magic...strange things are bound to happen, right?"Adlai said as she still tried to make sense of the situation herself. It was very strange, awfully strange that a magical train that had never been thrown off track before, at least to her knowledge, had been thrown off track by a group of bandits. The thought of being there terrified her.
However, she didn't want Elena to worry thus she sat down beside her friend and softly rubbed her back, she was afraid to put pressure since she didn't know if Elena had any bruises on her back. "I'm sure the administration and officials are sorting everything out, what you should be worrying about is your makeup work."She joked, though she did understand the own form of pain that came with mounds of class work.
"Why would you're dad be mad?" Adlai asked, if her parents found out about the incident they'd probably being try to find out a way to come to Hogwarts, to see if she was alright. Or maybe they'd try to pull Adlai out of her magical students and place her in the muggle school they had original planned to put her in before they had found out about their daughters uncanny ability to make cookies float in midair.

As her Hufflepuff friend tried to put her at eas with gentle words and her actions, Elena had to smile at her seemingly innocent inquiry. Why would her father be mad? The Gryffindor could come up with a boatload of reasons and it was for this reason she decided to settle on the most obvious one. "Let me put it this way." Elena said trying to find a proper way to word her next statements, she didn't want to come off as one of those pure-blood loyalists or whatever they were calling them nowadays. Her family might be such people but Elena Jangleton did her best to distance herself from that digusting philsophy as far as as humanely possibly. "Both my parents are very well-involved within the Ministry of Magic and if they ever got word of this, I don't doubt they would pull out all the stops to see the appropiate people reprimanded."
Reprimand was putting it lightly. She chose to leave out the part that they had a reputation to maintain otherwise they wouldn't be going heads over heels to make sure nothing of this magnitude happened to the only child they had at Hogwarts. That was the great part about all of this, her surname was like a shield for her. Yes, it was common knowledge that ran in the family that the Gryffindor shared very contrasting views in comparison to the rest of the family but she was still a blood relative and they honored that. Perhaps with a bit of bitterness but they did it and Elena was inherently thankful for that little fact. She shuddered at the prospect of the work she had probably missed which Adlai brought wincing as more pain flared up sending waves of agony throughout her body, it seemed any little twitch or movement was still much too much for her body to cope with at the moment.
"It's barely been a week since we got back from the holidays." The Gryffindor said in a whiney tone looking at Adlai but she knew that did nothing to appease the professor's mercy. They were notorious when it came to heaping loads and loads of parchment onto the students. "How do they expect me to even lift a quill when half my body is tearing itself apart?" Ok, well not literally but given the fact her general range of motion was very restricted at the moment, Elena very much doubted she would be writng any essays or doing any sort of wandwork any soon. "Don't reck0n I could pay you some Sickles or something to do them for me, huh?" The third year said smirking slightly teasing Adlai a bit. Nah, she wouldn't do that, Elena would just have to resort to more intense library sessions once she could be up and moving and not bound to some god awful hospital bed.
Shifting a bit so that Adlai could sit a bit more comfortably in the space she had on the bed, Elena tilted her head so that it was resting against her friend's shoulder. This was nice, not being totally isolated for once and having her favorite human being in the world by her side. "Thanks for visiting, I thought I was gonna go crazy in here if all I kept seeing were potions and house-elves." That might have earned a couple of dirty looks here and there from the various elves scurrying about attending to the ward inhabitants but a change in scenery was much needed and Adlai had delivered. Now, if only she could get her to sneak in a few treats or something without irking Nurse Brumby's wrath.
"Well, that was my break. How about you?" It had to be better than a train crash, that much was certain.

"I see...though I don't fully understand I get why some people wouldn't want their parents to know about the accident anyway..." Adlai was still silently baffled but decided not to linger on the topic of Elena's parents any longer since it seemed to be a sore subject for her friend.@Elena Jangleton
Adlai laughed at the notion of doing Elena paying her to do her work for her, "First of all we're learning different curriculums, secondly even if we were learning the same stuff I'd do it for free." However, Adlai left out the fact that her grades were terrible. It wasn't like she wasn't afraid to admit it, it was just that she wasn't proud of it. She's normally slower than most of her classmates when it comes to learning something though some have told her not to worry about it since she is a "muggle born." She learned last year that it meant she was a witch with non-magically oriented parents, it made since but she didn't understand why some people obsessed over it so much. However, it wasn't like she's ever met someone who was but she's heard stories of what happened at Hogwarts a few years about regarding peoples blood statuses. She'd be lying if she said it didn't scare her.
"Now that I know where you are I'll visit you more often, and maybe if your lucky," She leaned in cupping her hand around Elena's ear as she whispered the last bit of her sentence, "I'll be able to smuggle in some sweets for you." Leaning back she gave Elena a thumbs up. It wasn't like she hadn't done something like that before. In Wales her friends would ask her to hide sweets for them on her person all the time since it was a bit easier for her due to the fact that she wore rather baggy clothing.

Elena had to her best to suppress a smile at Adlai's remote confusion. "Trust me on that one, they are better off not knowing." The Jangletons were a proud family and they made no secret of it though with all good things, there were always flaws. That flaw happened to be that they were the abosolute worst type of humans and parents one could ask for in the Gryffindor's opinion and as such, the last thing she needed was her father bursting through the hospital wing doors and dragging her off to the estate to live out the rest of her days. If he had his way, Elena probably would have never even set foot in Hogwarts to begin with. In reality, it was the perfect excuse they needed to get her out of the castle citing the fact that the school could not be trusted with their child but really, Elena knew that was all a facade. That was probably why she should focus on healing up and quickly before so much as an owl reached their ears. They had prying eyes and ears everywhere, they just happened to wind of things. This was one that could not reach them.
"Different topics, sure. It's still magic though." The girl declared with some amount of confidence grinning at her Hufflepuff friend. Most of these classes just consisted of waving you wand in fancy ways and muttering some incomprehensible word she would probably never utter again in her life. The only exception to that rule was most probably History of Magic and Ancient Runes, the two classes that lingered over her like a dark cloud. She didn't even want to begin to know how much she had missed in those particular classes shuddering at the thought. "Do me a favor though, avoid Ancient Runes at all costs if you can. You'll be pulling out your hair by the end of it." If there was an end, all those funny symbols and letters, the professor was great but the content she taught was apparently out to give them more than just a few white hairs.
At least she had a partner in crime willing to risk the ire of Nurse Brumby to transport a few sweets. "I'll cross my fingers." The third year said chuckling slightly, happy at the fact they could at least joke around and find some bit of humor while navigating around the obvious negative connotations of what had happened. They had said a few days, hopefully by the conclusion of this week and the Gryffindor was almost ready to bounce back on her two feet and her first order of buisness would be to cut a course straight to the Owlery to see how Flutters was holding up. Poor bird, all alone cooped up in that tower after that horrible crash. She was sure he was being well taken care of but isolation did not serve him well. He had been scruffed up rather badly and the thought of him moping about without anyone around hurt her. "On your way out, can you swing by the Owlery? Make sure Flutters isn't sulking or something, I can't stop thinking about him." The girl asked Adlai knowing full well the barn owl trusted her friend too. There were only a very few select people he greeted with the classifacation of "friend" and luckily for Adlai, she fell into that category.
"Can't wait until I'm out of this stupid bed." Seriously, being bedridden for hours on end tended to take it's toll on you. She needed to be up and about, not curled up like some sloth.

@Elena JangletonAdlai smiled and nodded when Elena had asked her to go and check on Flutters, she liked doing favors for her friends. She like knowing she could help them, even if the task was small."Of course! I've been meaning to send a letter home anyways. And if I can I'll ask the nurse I can be bring him down here for you."
Secretly Adlai wished Elena would ask more of her. If it were within her power, morals or ability she'd do about anything anyone asked of her. She liked making people happy, more or less she liked when people liked her. When people didn't she'd try her best to get them to like her, though she knew her persistence could very much so only make said person dislike her even more, which in the end only made her even more persistent. It was a never ending cycle.
Perhaps that why Adlai was so easy to take advantage of? She knew people walked all over her, or used her as a door mat for about anything, from time to time but she didn't mind it at all. However, Elena was indeed different. She only asked small, meaningful things of Adlai which made Adlai feel oddly appreciated.
