Why Are You Even Here?
(Serena Towers & Siege Aramastus Bal)
A short while had passed since the idea of enjoying marshmallows and singing songs by the lake had failed to become a reality. Their dreams turned into a nightmare that everyone had struggled to get out of. Magic might be able to heal the scars and burns... but the memories it left would change everything. The emotional scars might have lasted with them their entire lives... In the far corner of the hospital wing, a petite Asian girl silently lay on the bed. There was no noise or movement from that corner, there hadn't been in a while. She would fall in and out of consciousness faster than a yo-yo.
Her body had mostly healed, due to the wonders of the magical spells and ointments that the healers provided. However, the damage done to her on that night was deep. She had been slashed so brutally that her rib-cage was partly exposed. If it wasn't for her saviours, she would have bled out then and there. The grounds were drenched with her blood. There was a pool of blood where she had fallen, trails of blood from where she had been dragged and several articles of clothing had been soaked in it. Anyone who saw her was simply greeted by the sight of the red liquid dripping out of her chest. And yet, the damage done internally was far worse. she had coughed up so much blood after her internal organs got attacked. She could barely breathe. Her lungs felt like they had been ripped. The bones in her arm hadn't healed fully either. They had been broken as the monster crushed her in its grip. By the time she was seen by a nurse, she had lost far too much blood, had broken bones, a very exposed rib-cage and had lost consciousness as a result. If they had taken a little longer, it may have been far too late.
The physical wounds were healing well. Lots of rest, ointments and especially magical spells had done their trick. The last stage to her recovery was simply drinking various potions and concoctions.
The reality of the situation had finally sunk in. She had almost died. She had almost caused the death of her friends, by placing them in danger. Serena became a burden to the people she wanted to protect. Her stupidity had almost cost them their lives, just trying to save her. That was something she could not forgive.
That was something she hated herself for.
What happened that night was a result of her failure. She had failed to destroy the enemy in front of her, which made her a burden on everyone else. She had been unable to save the life of anyone she cared about - and instead, ended up causing them more damage. Serena put their lives at risk by failing.
That was unacceptable.
The dark thoughts went over and over her mind. Negativity filled her. Hope was lost. Maybe one day, she'll wake up and realise this was all just a dream. One terribly dark dream.
Serena slept peacefully in the corner. It had been hours since she had lost consciousness again. She was recovering but consciousness was something she struggled to maintain. Perhaps the pain in the heart or the will to survive, which had disappeared by now, was not helping. It must have been over ten hours since she last moved.
Just laying there, silently breathing in her deep slumber. She was blissfully unaware of what was going on. Early next morning, perhaps in the middle of the night, her eyes started to stir open again. Groaning a little, Serena started to wake.
As her eyes opened a little, they fell onto the ceiling. It was white, plain and boring. That was unusual. But Serena was too tired to think about it or question her eyes right now. Her tired eyes started to drift close again, as she let her head fall a little. Her gaze fell onto the figure of someone. Someone sitting by her bedside. Her body was too tired to react in panic but the emotion certainly went through her mind as she held her breathe for a moment. Someone was in her bedroom?! As her hazy vision cleared, focusing herself to open her eyes again, the figure looked like a boy. There was a boy in her bedroom?! She wanted to scream but her body seemed unable to muster up enough strength to do that. What was going on?!?
She couldn't believe her eyes. A boy was sitting by her bed. Did Hogwarts not have security for this? She was sure they had charms in place to prevent boys from entering the girl's dormitories in the first place.
Serena's eyes started to blink a bit more rapidly. Her eyes recognised the black hair. She attempted to scream. If her throat was not so dry, perhaps the scream would have come out. Instead, she managed a low pitch, "Argh!".
She pushed herself up with her hand and moved away from the figure, backing herself up into the corner with her legs kicking around and her arms pushing away from the bed. She sat up a little, leaning on her broken hand, "Ughhh!" She groaned as she struggled to hold herself up.
Serena was kicking her legs around, in a panic as though she was trying to scramble away from the boy. If she kicked hard or frantically enough, hopefully the wall would swallow her up and save her from whatever was going on today. She almost kicked him in the face - in fact, if he didn't move in time then she probably did. "Siege!" She called out, the fear evident in her voice, "Wh-What are you doing in my bedroo-" She started to say before it suddenly dawned on her. This wasn't her room... She was not in her dorm room. There was not enough yellow. The room did not have the cosy feel of the Hufflepuff Common Room. It didn't have the giant portrait of the pink haired auror in the Tonks Dorm she called her home.
She was not in the Hufflepuff Girl's Dorm. This was not her bed. The fear and panic had increased her heartbeat drastically. Serena panted softly as she looked around, calming herself down. She was in the Hospital Wing... Not in her room... Well, that certainly made more sense but... she still had no idea what he was doing here... Hell, was it even visiting hours? Serena had no idea at this point in time...

Why Are You Even Here?
What was it? What time was it? It seemed not too long ago when he had just arrived with Serena and the others in here...But his eyes were barely open and good thing they were even open in the slightest or Serena's foot could and would have just hit his face right then and there. It was pretty damn startling to see her foot come at him, although her previous low pitched squeal gave wakened him enough to get out of the damn way before her foot could have been the new crimson tattoo on his face.
"What the!" A low whisper would emerge from Siege's mouth, surprise evident on his face. He really didn't expect her to wake and just kick him like that. In fact, he didn't really expect her to wake at all, expecting her to be too tired from earlier...He thought it'd be a day before she came back into consciousness. It was simply a hope for her to wake early like this...After all... He's still here waiting.
Good thing there were curtains around her bed, or he'd definitely have been sent out by the nurse...Come to think of it...There was a silence that was not here when he was last fully conscious. It seems no one was in the room currently...Maybe the nurse was somewhere else? Or treating an injured Hufflepuff? Either way, it mattered not to him, he hasn't been kicked out and that's what matters to him, and even more so, Serena was awake...But is that what he really wanted right now? After all, last time...
"Whoah Serena, calm down..." Siege would raise his hands to his chest, trying to indicate that everything was fine. He had a startled look in his eyes, but also a hint of concern there, after all she was just last awake three hours ago...Wait...Three hours ago? His eyes quickly gazed on the clock next to Serena, it was three, almost turning four in the morning. "Are you feeling better?" Another low whisper would come out, though with unexpected concern showing in his voice.
He wasn't sure what to say or do from that point on...Sure, they seemed to be in okay terms earlier, the two of them hugging...And she did recognize him, though the kick didn't help his thoughts on the situation at hand. In the end, he did what all Sieges would do... He got too tired thinking about it and just sat next to the leg that almost kicked him, with his head down, his eyes seemingly glued to the ground.
What was there to say? He'd already said all he the last time they saw each other, what is there to say? That he was sorry? He already said that...More importantly, what would he be sorry for? Was he just sorry for doing what he did, even worse not remembering it, or for the fact that they weren't friends anymore? And why was he even thinking these thoughts? Surely he hasn't changed that much since his arrival...Well whether he choose to accept it or not, he has changed, a lot, and without her, he wouldn't be the Siege that he is now. A better Siege, whether he knew it or not.
She seemed shaken, her adrenaline from seeing him probably still keeping the pain she should feel at bay with the sudden movements she just made, and he knew what moving while injured could do all too well. "Calm down okay?...Jeez, couldn't have you just said hi instead of a kick?" Siege would try to make light of the situation and their current relationship, then proceeding to move casually to her bedside. "Relax okay? You shouldn't move around that much with those wounds on you Ser, jeez, relax." Said Siege, once more sounding casual and lighthearted, although the concern in his voice was clearly there, amplified more so when he'd smile at her. Not just the regular smile, that would make Serena worry about what the boy is up to next, but a genuine smile, with maybe even a tint of sadness and longing in his eyes.
He should really be in bed right now, after all it was three in the morning. He didn't even remember how he came across her, what he did before, only what he did after. He looked down at his arms, blood was there, Serena's blood, all dried up...Even only hints of it, he couldn't believe she lost this much blood, she shouldn't even be awake right now probably, even though it had been a day. Now Siege was no doctor, and with the way he's been hurting than healing, a profession in Medicine was not the best choice for him to make. He wasn't a stranger to blood, knowing other people's blood and his own, he wasn't a stranger to it.
Of course the same couldn't be said for poor young Serena, who seemed to be a sheltered girl under the roof of a protective house in Siege's eyes. He wasn't one to protect or even care about anything or anyone, especially not those that have been sheltered or well off, it wasn't him...But Serena, she was different. She met him and he met her, two different worlds, two different personalities...Although it seems as if Siege only learned from her. She showed him things that he never knew, she was a friend that cared for him, a friend that he could rely on, even if she couldn't do anything for him, he wasn't afraid to call her his friend.
But...What was she to him now? A fellow prefect? A fellow student? A stranger to each other? What was she? Two different worlds can find only so many similarities before there are none left. He was a Glasgow troublemaker with a rebellious streak and she was a proper girl from London with well off parents and seems to enjoy peace and quiet that Siege finds quite boring, although not when he's asleep. It seems he likes his sleep very much, quite the feat to have been awake to dodge that kick of hers earlier.
He didn't know what else was between them...They were no longer friends...What were they? What was she to him? And what was he to her?...It seems as Serena had said and any ideas that he may have about what they were...They all revolved around one thing and that thing is, Nothing...

Why Are You Even Here?
Serena struggled to hold herself, as she half sat up and half leaned on her forearm and the wall that her bed was pushed up against. If it had not been against a wall, she most definitely would have fallen off and rolled onto the other side. Panting heavily, she stared at the Gryffindor boy by the side of her bed. The hospital... She was in the hospital. The memory of the Camp Out and waking up in Hospital, surrounded by dying Hufflepuffs came flooding back to her. Did that all really happen? She would love to have believed it was just a nightmare. But there was no doubt she was in the hospital right now.
And the pain in her forearm that was attempting to hold her up was killing her. Her chest felt heavy. Her head felt all cloudy. Despite the pain, Serena pressed herself up against the wall. It was as though she was just trying to get away from the boy right now. She was not sure what else to do. Her breathing was erratic and her mind was racing with thoughts. There were too many thoughts. She had no idea what to do. But waking up to find someone near you was very strange and kind of creepy.
The girl stopped kicking away from him once she was safely in the cover. Bending her legs, she sort of kept them between the two of them. He was moving, reacting and saying words but what he said never reached her ears. It made no sense to her in this moment, nothing did. She just stared at him, panting heavily and trying to gather her own thoughts. "Ahh-" She groaned, slipping slightly as her arm buckled a little in the pain it felt. It struggled to hold her body weight up after the bones were brutally crushed by her attacker. Whilst the healer had began the healing process, it had not fully recovered but that did not stop her from using it. She had no idea where she had been hurt. Right now... everything hurt. Her entire body wanted to scream out in pain and it did not even know where to begin. She couldn't isolate the pain when it was all over her body.
The past day had been far more intense than anything else she had ever felt. Serena stared at the boy. He opened his mouth again, telling her to calm down before adding something about a kick. Blinking, she looked at him for a moment with an expression that showed she was clearly confused - and in a lot of pain. It took her a few more moments before she remembered that her feet had been kicking around the bed. "O- Oh... Sorry..." She mumbled, still unsure of what was going on. The silence fell over again for several more moments before she opened her mouth again, "H- Hi...?" She continued, hesitantly as she offered him the greeting that he wanted and preferred. Though perhaps the kick was more appropriate for him...
Serena stared at him. This whole thing was surreal. She never expected to wake up and find someone in the room. It was weird. The Hufflepuff Dorms had little coves in them. So you could close the curtains and be shut away from everyone. No one would be able to stand next to your bed or sit there. It was like a private little room away from the rest of the room. It was great. But the hospital wing clearly lacked this facility of privacy as there was definitely someone here. Unless she was imagining this... Was this another dream? God, she hoped not. The last one was weird enough. What with Siege being all nice and all. Wait-
Nice... Why was Siege being so nice to her right now? There was a soft smile on his face that was kind of unfamiliar. It was not the troublemaker smile she associated with him. There was concern in his voice and words. It was not the anger and violent nature that she recognised him with. He was being nicer. A lot nicer right now. Almost like the way he was in her dream. Though, that was even weirder than this.
Blinking, Serena slowly nodded and attempted to adjust into a more comfortable position. A hiss immediately escaped her lips as the pain surged through her body as she moved too much. She groaned, unable to handle the amount of pain she was in. Her muscles felt sore and heavy. She was unusually exhausted. The Hufflepuff tried to sit up properly but it hurt too much so ended up giving up. She lay in a half sitting position again, groaning softly. Panting softly to try and catch her breathe.
As she recovered from the efforts of just moving, she spoke out again in a dry voice, "Wh- What are you doing here?" She asked him point blank. The confusion was frustrating her. She needed answers and she needed them now. Her mental state was hurting her heart more than her physical state was hurting her body.
She needed to know what he was doing here. They weren't even friends. Why was he here? After all of this time? And what... in the middle of the night or early morning? She had no idea but the room was very quiet. They were either alone in the wing or everyone else was asleep. She assumed it was the latter, judging by the amount of people who she had seen injured the last time she opened her eyes and by the darkness of the room. There were a few torches around but the room was certainly darker than it usually was. "Wh- Why are you even here?" She asked him, looking at him as she did, "What- What time is it? What's going on...?" The Hufflepuff continued. Her pained expression showed her confusion, indicating the state of her mental health as well as her physical health.

Why Are You Even Here?
Night time in the hallways was always so much calmer than the day. Masked figures could wander without judgement and without fear. Three in the morning would mean no Prefects, likely no Professors, and no worries. He knew some students had been injured lately and that meant the Hospital Wing had people to observe. His hood covered his head, the mask covered his face, and the robes hid who he was altogether. Master had demanded he spy on the school and he would obey no matter the cost. This weak vessel wouldn't be able to do the damage Master wanted, but he would give it everything he had.
"Alohomora" he whispered to the door with his wand out as it unlocked quietly, allowing the masked figured to enter the otherwise closed wing.
Beds lined the room with a few sleeping students. No one seemed to be up and about. Activity did catch his eye at the end of the room. It would be obvious to him when he entered. There would be no hiding his presence the moment he opened the door. Students should have been asleep, but two seemed to be breaking that rule. Coming here was a mistake.
Do not let them get away with seeing you... Bring them pain.
"Depulso!" he whisper-yelled as he pointed his wand at Siege, hoping to avoid them seeing too much.
The charm would push Siege back and into Serena. Hopefully that would cause enough pain for them to not see him as he retreated. It was too late to avoid them knowing something, but this would stop him from a confrontation and questions. By chance, Siege would land in just the wrong way on Serena. The two locked lips momentarily as he fell into her. The masked figured made his escape unopposed.

Why Are You Even Here?
Siege wasn't sure as to what was happening. It was questioning time? Why was he here? Why was he really here? He himself didn't know why he was there he just was kinda there. He didn't really have an answer for her, seeing as he was just so lost as to why he was even there. Was he there for her? Yes, but how the hell would the boy know that? Just not too long ago they weren't friends at all, enemies even well closer to a feeling of dread for each other. The last time that they really talked to each other, it ended pretty damn badly...They ended up in the Hospital Wing, maybe they'd fix it here too. Siege wasn't one to hope for a friend, to care for a friend, so maybe, just maybe... he'd try this time.
"Why I'm here?...Erm I'm just here ya know? I'm here to make sure...To-to, make sure...Tha-that, you're...That you're okay..." Siege would say with, his voice lowering to almost an inaudible whisper, his mouth barely opening as he said it. It wasn't right for him, or it didn't feel right. Never in his life has he ever expressed words that even had a hint of caring, at least not that he and I can remember. It was as if he had no control over his body, like he was going by what he felt, rather than what he thought. And yes, that's how he made most of his decisions, though it's preferred if his damn emotions weren't so jumbled like they were now.
It was quite insane how much he's changed since the two of them met...She's taught him quite a lot, at least things that he never knew he could be. She was probably the first one he'd actually feel for like this, but what is this?. He didn't know whatever he felt was, he's never had the urge to care for someone like this, making sure that they're okay, something he's never had the privilege of doing or experiencing. He changed more so, with him even conversing with her! She was a prefect long before he became one, and he hated rules, but why did he keep staying around her? I mean, now he definitely wasn't one to stay away from prefects, considering that he was one himself, and now it seems as if he was getting closer...Literally.
Time slowed down for the boy, what was happening? Wait what? What was happening? Did that just happen? It seems with a single word or incantation the two would get closer and closer by the damn second, until by the time Siege noticed anything his lips were locked with hers. Was this what his body felt back the first time? He couldn't remember ever doing the first one, but now, he remembers and he wouldn't forget this one either. But back to the question, is this what he was supposed to feel? From her? Her lips were unbelievably soft...Her lips, it was something alright, the soft touch of them, seemed to take him out and back in the realm of reality.
He didn't, more like he couldn't, understand what the hell was going on. How did things end up like this? Did his feelings finally take over his body? Did he just do that by himself? No he couldn't have, someone pushed him, he felt it, he felt the push, but who? Then again, he wasn't really thinking, considering Serena wasn't really letting him think. All he was thinking about was Serena and what he was feeling...And he was feeling something. A lot actually, he was feeling a lot, and he didn't know what to do with his feelings.
Was it safe? Should he pull away now? What would he say to her?...Was it better to keep it there just to avoid anything? But if he kept it there, then that would mean that things would get more and more awkward from there on out! Should he pick the short term solution? Which is to just stay there and wait for inevitable awkwardness and tense atmosphere in the room or just pull away now? Well it seems as he really got no choice, seeing as he'd already spent time thinking what to do, with whatever Serena was letting him think with those lips of hers still touching his.
It seemed as if he had just come back from a dream of a nightmare, but he pulled back, gasping with thoughts of running away on his mind once more. But...he couldn't do it again, for some reason he couldn't bring his legs to move away from her, they had the opposite in mind, they wanted to go forward. Well, that's exactly what they did, as he moved forward to make sure she was okay, at least physically. He tried to talk, he did, he tried, but it seemed as though no words would come out of his mouth or the fact that he would momentarily forget how to speak at all.
"Ser I-My Ba-" Was all he could muster before looking down on the white blanket that she had. He had to look somewhere else other than her face...but what did he feel? This was so damn strange to him, so damn foreign. He didn't know what it was, but it was seriously messing with his head. He couldn't think about anything other than her, her lips, it was unavoidable. He couldn't help but think of them...Especially now that he was awake and will full well remember the damn thing.
Wide eyed, he began to look away, as if searching for the one who pushed him, which he kind of was. Were they still in the Hospital Wing? Goddamn it Siege! Think think! Stop thinking about, about Serena! The culprit might still be around they still...might...be...there... No he couldn't think, he was unable to, the flood that is his questions and new memories flooded his brain, there wasn't any thinking done by him...Except for the thinking that is Serena.

Why Are You Even Here?
Serena stared at the Gryffindor in confusion. She could tell it that dark outside just by looking through the windows. Everyone else appeared to be sound asleep. The Hufflepuff was pretty sure that visiting hours were over by now. There was no reason for him to be here, especially not at this time. In fact, they were not even friends. Why was he in the hospital in the first place? When she woke up for the first time after the attack, he was the first person she saw. In a room full of Hufflepuffs and Camp Out participants, he was the one right next to her bed. It made no sense at the time either but she did not question it then. At that moment, she was just glad they were all alive. She was actually happy to see him, given she had thought he died. But... now that she considered the situation, there was no real reason for him to be there in the first place.
It appeared as though Siege had not moved. He was still by her bed, which is where he had been when she first woke up. Her eyes fell onto his arms, catching a glimpse at what appeared to be red stains of blood. Was he hurt? He did not appear to be injured but it looked like blood - and she had seen a lot of it in the past day or so... Looking at him, Serena opened her mouth to question it. But before she could, he started to talk.
She did not catch what he said though. She heard the start of it. Mostly, where he seemed to be questioning his own words. However, it quickly turned into an inaudible mutter - or she was losing her hearing. Serena strained to listen to his quiet voice. She was already in so much pain, did he really have to make matters worse by whispering? "You're here to do what...?" She questioned him, coughing a little as her raspy dry throat had not been blessed with water for a while. She had no idea how long she had been asleep for but it must have been a while... The Prefect was still confused. Why was he here? She had not received her answer to that.
From the corner of her eyes, she noticed something move. Serena's gaze caught the glimpse of what appeared to be the door open. She blinked, straining her eyes a little. It was dark and unclear but it looked like someone had just entered the hospital wing. She could not see the person properly, the view partially blocked by Siege's body and the darkness of the hospital. However, she could see an outline of someone. Serena's eyes widened a little, noticing that the person was covered in a hood. She could not see their face or even recognise their robes. Perhaps it was a student breaking curfew. But... it did not appear that they were wearing their school uniform... Maybe it was not a student. Perhaps the healer was here...
On noticing the figure, Serena opened her mouth to bring Siege's attention to the person. If it was a student, perhaps both that person and Siege should wind up in detention for breaking curfew. But she never got the words out of her mouth. "He-" It all happened within seconds. There was no time to react. Her attention snapped back, away from the person at the door to the extra weight she felt on her. She groaned a little and screwed up her eyes, feeling the pain of her damaged body shooting through her. It hurt. Her arms ached, her chest pained, her face...
Wait...
Serena's eyes shot wide open. Her eyes were greeted by the sight of his face. His face was touching her face. His lips were locked with hers. For the second time this year, Serena was pressed back against a wall staring into the same situation. Her mind went blank. She could not think or process information. Her body froze from the pure shock of the situation. He was... kissing her... He was kissing her yet again? For the second time... Why was he kissing her again?
Her breathe got caught in the throat. Her eyes were widening by the second. Her heart was beating rapidly. What in Hogwarts was going on in this boy's head? She tried to raise her hand to push him away but by the time she did, he had pulled away. Serena stared at him in disbelief. He had kissed her again. Despite the fact that the first time was the very reason that they were no longer friends. Yet despite that, he still chose to come into the Hospital in the middle of the night and kiss her again? Her brain had fried from the pure shock of it. It served, if nothing else, as a distraction from the trauma of the Camp Out at least. Blocking out the screams that echoed in her ears for a few moments. For the first time since then, her mind was empty.
It took her a few moments to start to process information again. His voice hit her ears but... He didn't actually say anything. He had no explanation for his actions.
The words he said to her last time hit her like a bad memory. 'Just cause. It was pretty unavoidable... C'mon, you know me!' They did not make sense the last time he said it but they seemed to be coming true now. He did not say anything else. Just looked down, away from her. Serena sat there, pressed up against the wall staring at the boy. Her jaw clenched tightly. Her body started to shake a little. Her breathing became shaky. Clutching the blanket that he was staring at, she pulled it closer to her. Serena sort of hugged herself with it, suddenly aware of the fact that this was happening again.
There was no excuse for the first time. She had confronted him and he had simply said 'yeah... my bad...' and that was it. Serena's eyes watered up. The level of anger she felt in her body could not be contained. Her lack of speech and her inability to move much was preventing the anger from getting any relief. It chose to come out in her eyes and the shaking of her body. The very same body that stung in pain.
Her eyes widened as the boy moved closer again. He was too close to her. He had been too close to her twice already, she was not about to let him get a third.
Her still healing lungs made breathing difficult. Her dry throat made talking hard. Her broken arms made hitting him more painful. Nonetheless, she tried. Serena raised her right hand, connecting it with the side of his face as hard as she could. She screamed a little into her groan, hissing as the pain shot up her arm and into her shoulder. The shadow had crushed her bones. They were healing quickly, thanks to magic but they had not fully healed. The slap probably hurt her more than it hurt him right now. Tears flooded down her face as the physical pain joined the emotional one.
Serena cried into her hisses, clearly in pain that she could not hide. She took her right arm in her left hand, clutching it close to her chest as she tried to push herself further away from him. She had already backed up to the corner, however. There was no further to go, unless the wall swallowed her whole - which she would really like it to do, right now.
"Wh- What- What the hell- is the matter with you?" Her broken voice sobbed, starting to voice the anger from within. "S- Stop... Stop ki- doing that-" She continued, "Stop it... Just stop..." She whimpered into her tears. The Hufflepuff did not understand why he was here, why he was doing this. None of it made any sense to her. Did he just want to hurt her? Because he was succeeding. She no longer knew what hurt more... The physical pain or the emotional one. All she knew was that everything hurt and all of that pain was being associated to the Gryffindor in front of her, "W- Why-" She started to ask him, sniffing hard enough to start coughing. She coughed down towards her shoulder for a little while, before groaning. Her whole chest hurt.
"What? That was unavoidable too?" She suddenly barked at him, recalling his first words to her the last time he did it. The tears streamed down her face as she stared at him intensely again. Her throat stung but the words kept coming out now, as her anger burned faster and brighter than a Hufflepuff at Camp Out, "You were right... You told me not to go near you, unless I wanted to get hurt and... you were right..." She continued, "W- Why? I... I don't- I don't understand why- you have to keep-" She sobbed, the rest of her words getting lost in her groans, "I guess I really didn't know you at all... I thought- I thought we were friends..." She whimpered, "Friends don't... Friends don't... You really don't care, do you? I- I... really meant nothing to you, didn't I?"
She wanted to push him out of the room but her body could not move. "Just go. Just... stay away from me... I'm not- I'm not doing this again..." I can't keep doing this again... Her voice was laced with the sound of her pleading. She couldn't go through this again. For a moment, for a very brief moment, she thought maybe there was hope. When she woke up the first time, she was so glad to see him. She felt as though she had her friend back. That hope was now dying out, quickly. This was how she lost him in the first place. And he had the audacity to do it again?
A lot of her words were the words that had been said the first time. They were sentences that had played over and over again in her mind. She had no idea what she had done wrong then. She had just questioned his ridiculous actions and he happily threw away their friendship. Serena had thought about that day countless times, annoyed at him but mostly because she was upset. The words had gotten stuck in her head after thinking about them so much...
It was clear from her body, the expression on her face and the pained noises that kept escaping her lips that she was using every ounce of energy trying to scold him. Her voice was not even that loud. She struggled to scream, it hurt too much. Some of it was spoken incredibly quietly for her. But the silence in the room and the proximity he was at would help him to hear them. But she was in pain. There was no denying the fact that her entire body was physically still hurt and this was definitely not helping. At all. "Why the hell are you still here?" She snapped at him, wanting to just be able so she could finally lay down and cry herself to sleep. The pain was taking over her body and she couldn't handle it. All thoughts of the strange figure had left her mind, it seemed. Hell, all thoughts of the Hufflepuff Camp Out seemed to have left her mind for this short moment in time. Perhaps all of it was just too much for her to think about - or perhaps this was hurting her a lot more right now than those things were.
It appeared as though Siege had not moved. He was still by her bed, which is where he had been when she first woke up. Her eyes fell onto his arms, catching a glimpse at what appeared to be red stains of blood. Was he hurt? Why Are You Even Here?
Siege was lost in his own world for the most of it before he noticed Serena's shaky breath, reminding him that she was actually be in pain and that his weight must have caught at least some freaking pain to her in some way, shape or form. He'd jump a bit, urgency clearly seen replace the look of confusion, moving forward to make sure that she was okay.
"Oh god, I'm so sorr-" What? Did he really say that? Did he just apologize? But what was he apologizing for? For the fact that he just caused her pain?...Or...for the kiss?...But was he really sorry for that? Did he really regret it? He might or might not regret it, but clearly Serena wasn't gonna let him finish nor think, for the second time. Her hand found themselves on the side of his face, though it wasn't very strong, it still managed to shut him up only for a little bit...Well she did stop him from saying sorry, though it seems that won't be the only time he'd have the opportunity of saying sorry after all.
A lot of things flashed through his mind as and after he was getting slapped by Serena. Why was this happening? Who was there to blame? Himself?...Wasn't there someone who pushed him? He felt it didn't he? Or did he? Could he really trust himself? I mean he did just kiss her again...It was either by his hands or by someone else's and knowing just a little bit about himself, he wasn't sure which one's which. Things were definitely getting worse and worse, it wasn't gonna get better in Siege's mind...He had half a mind to just leave, to run away...But he couldn't do it to her again...At least he'll stay behind there and just make sure she'll end up okay.
What was the matter with him indeed? Her stutters seem to hit his body like bullets, stop? He can't! I mean he can stop kissing obviously, but he can't stop caring now, especially with that look of pain in her damn face. But...Another question, why the hell can't he stop? Why can't the boy from Glasgow who cared not for his fellow human was caring so much now? He didn't know what the hell he was doing, but just rolled with what he got going on, he cared, but he also didn't care that he cared...Despite how foreign or unusual the feeling may be, he still cared. He didn't care that she probably hated him now, he left her once and he wasn't gonna do that again, not again.
Stop? He's trying! Can't she see his damn face? He was just as confused as her! If not shocked! Very shocked, he couldn't even figure out what really happened. He and I still can't believe that he just did that out of nowhere, was he really that impulsive? He can't be! Does his heart just control him now? I mean he's got a mind too ya know? His mind always usually takes back seat when it came to a lot of things but not to this degree! It was as if his body had just moved on it's own! Well that's because it kinda did cause he was pushed...ahem... Well whatever the explanation was, things went down and happened and he was at the center of it, while Serena was being in the center of his damn mind.
Was he really doing what he wanted to do in this school? He wanted to start over, to make new friends, to turn over a new leaf...But it seems that he will not accomplish that. He never changed, though changed at the same time. He made a friend he could rely on, then lost that friend, then losing her more and more by the damn second now. He remembered Ed saying that it was a new chance for him, but he gave no heed to it, thinking it's another school that he'll probably get a bad rep in, which is kinda true, his rep, even as prefect isn't the greatest. He already was being talked about in the ranks of the upperclassmen since the scuffle he had with the 2nd-3rd years back in the abandoned bathrooms. Though he always was that, he cared not for his fellow man, he was like a demon amongst students, unbreakable, unbend-able and unmovable in the sense of his troubled principals and his laziness.
He generally grew up alone, inspiring his cold attitude towards strangers, despite the laziness he carries that could be mistaken for indifference or warmth. He only really spoke to Serena and Arya because of what he wanted to do, which was to change...To make Ed somewhat prouder of him, even though he cared not if he really did what Ed said or not...Just more push ups to do and more laps to run, as long as he was comfortable. He wasn't necessarily awkward, considering he didn't even realize what awkwardness was till he met Serena, thanks a lot Serena jeez, now this boy knows awkwardness! At least he's only awkward now when he gets to close to Serena...which he just did get close to her earlier, in fact so close, I'm sure you don't need to be reminded, though It would have been fun to hear Serena scream on call again.
"What? That was unavoidable too?" Serena would ask with an unmistakable combination of anger and sadness seen from her blue eyes. She had obvious anger behind those words, though where did those words come from? I'll be honest here, Siege isn't the best at remembering what he doesn't really see as important, and A Damn Bloody Accident? Well the whole point was that he doesn't remember anything, especially not something talking about how it was unavoidable that he'd fight some upperclassmen bullies. "You were right... You told me not to go near you, unless I wanted to get hurt and... you were right..." He said that? Ah it seems this is one of those moments where Siege remembers something that I do not, considering he did remember the words he spoke leaving her alone and running away from her that afternoon a month or so ago. Well...Normally it'd have been honestly statement that didn't matter or would not matter, but this time? To Siege? Well I have to admit... It stung, it was Serena saying this, to him? His first ever friend in Hogwarts saying this to him? Yeah, it hurt a lot, it hurt more than that slap, more than getting his head slammed to a sink...Hurt more than a fight would.
Her constant sobbing and cries hurt him the most though, he didn't understand why he felt bad when he saw her crying...He's seen kids cry before, but that just made him dislike them more, thinking that it's fitting that they're crying cause they were weak enough to cry...But this was different, there was a certain tugging in his heart that he could not explain, a tugging for Serena...He needed to comfort her, he wanted to, but she wasn't exactly letting him. "Friends don't... Friends don't... You really don't care, do you? I- I... really meant nothing to you, didn't I?" What she meant to him? He be lying if he knew what she really meant to him...But all he knew is that she was his first friend here in Hogwarts and that he was currently slowly loosing her, like a poison threatening his heart at this very moment.
"Just go. Just... stay away from me... I'm not- I'm not doing this again..." Do what? What the hell has she done? What the hell has he really done? Let's be honest he's not even sure this second kiss that he did it all by himself! Oh no, he wasn't just gonna stand there and take this. It seems as though his old self was slowly crawling out of the dug hole that Serena had dug out for him...A chance to get better? How was he gonna get better? By caring for someone who obviously doesn't want him around? To just care but can never be appreciated? Well you know what? Screw it, he's never been appreciated, not the orphanage not the ones who just passed him by the streets thinking he was a pest, a pest that if gotten rid of things would be better...He was never appreciated by anyone other than Ed...So why start to look for appreciation now?
Why the hell are you still here?" Why?...Why was he taking this from her? Should he run again? No he shouldn't run again even though he may want to, he can't just seem to turn around. He should stay, he should stay even if he was unwanted...He can't afford to at least not change in some way. He wanted to go back to the way things were, but he also wanted to stay the same. What will he choose? Will he go back to being the hopeless arse that he was? Or will he try to better himself...It seems he'll go down the middle and do both...
"Cause I still f****** care, I still give a s***, I'm not leaving anytime soon because even if I'm not even sure about what happened, I still f****** care!" Siege would finally snap, so what? She already hates him anyways. But why was he putting up with this? Yes, he still cared, it didn't matter to him now, whether he was hated by her or not, he was gonna make sure she lived.
"I'm still here because I care...And I'm not letting you stop me from caring, because you mean something to me and I don't know what the hell that something is but you do okay? So deal with it." Siege would say with both confidence and defiance in his voice, gently handling her arms to make sure the they are set properly in place so she wouldn't damage them more. He knew how to take care of injuries well injuries like burns and broken bones...After all he'd have to learn the hard way how to do so anyways.
"Stop moving, I'm just here trying to help...Let me..."
Why Are You Even Here?
Serena jumped a little, taken back by the Gryffindor boy's sudden outburst. He had chosen to remain silent the whole time she ranted on at him. Was he even listening? Who knew? Serena was still going to continue talking, regardless of whether or not he was listening. In fact, his lack of response did not prevent or from talking nor cause her any sort of hesitation. She was blowing some steam off her chest by opening her mouth and just lashing out. The last time this happened, she had stayed silent. Far too silent. And it ended up being the cause of her pain and perhaps the end of their friendship. This time, there was nothing left to lose. She had already lost his friendship. There was nothing to hold her back anymore, nothing for her to bite her tongue for. So she lashed out, annoyed and hurt at the same time.
"Cause I still f****** care, I still give a s***, I'm not leaving anytime soon because even if I'm not even sure about what happened, I still f****** care!"
That was, until he suddenly snapped. Apparently pushing him to leave was the one thing that finally caused him to speak up. Serena stared at him for a moment, taken back by his words. He refused to leave, despite her pretty much pleading him to go. He refused, because he still seemed to care about her. Though, she could definitely disagree with that, it massively countered her point where she questioned his care and concern. She had no idea why he was still here but he chose to be here, dismissing her words and incredibly minor insults. Blinking, Serena stared at him in a state of confusion. The tears continued down her face, pretty much running on autopilot around about now as her body screamed out in pain.
He... refused to leave. That part confused her the most. From what she knew about him, he was an expert at leaving. In fact, the last time he kissed her, it baffled and confused the heck out of her. However, what hurt her more was the fact he was so easily willing to walk away from their friendship. He left her when she was just being a bit awkward, attempting to try and get him to the hospital without looking at him directly in the face. She had wanted to help and he had left. Today, she wanted him to leave and yet he refused to go. It was all so confusing. It was so confusing, in fact, that she missed the part about him being uncertain as to what had even happened.
"I'm still here because I care...And I'm not letting you stop me from caring, because you mean something to me and I don't know what the hell that something is but you do okay? So deal with it."
Siege continued to talk whilst she was shocked. He refused to let her stop him from caring about... her? The words itself seemed so bizarre coming from his mouth. This was a boy she had known to get into fights, seek out trouble and care about nothing. He was a delinquent child. It all felt so surreal and unexpected coming from him. But she was not entirely sure she believed it. She had no idea why he was still here but she still was not sure she believed it. Serena silently listened to him.
She was so blinded by her own anger that she couldn't even see the sentiment behind his words. She meant something to him... But in this moment in time, she was not sure she meant anything to him nor he meant anything to her. They always seemed to end up in trouble, in a terrible situation and just having far too much drama for her liking when they were around each other. Perhaps it was not worth it any longer. They were not even friends, anymore. Whatever this was, it was not worth the drama or the constant pain in her heart. It was just too much hassle for what it was.
Serena wanted a peaceful life. Something simple and boring. None of this drama, excitement and adrenaline. In fact, she had had far too much of that in the past day or two. The less she had, the better she would be. Sadly, Hogwarts did not appear to be that easy...
As she fell into thought, she remembered their friendship. What they had. Well more importantly, what they had lost. Siege always seemed to do what he wanted. It never made much sense to her but he seemed to do it anyway. The Gryffindor did the same today. Serena inhaled sharply as she felt his hands touch her. Her eyes quickly shot to her arms, that she instantly pulled back away from him. The girl tried to get away from him, not wanting him to touch her anymore. He had done that enough for a lifetime, that much was certain. But moving hurt her more. It caused her to flinch in pain, hissing and cursing under her breathe as she did.
"Stop moving, I'm just here trying to help...Let me..."
Serena hated it. She hated it so much. Looking around the room, she noticed no one else was around. The students in the other beds still seemed to be sleeping soundly, as they had before. It was quite a surprise no one had woken up and started yelling at them. Even the healer was not around. Gasping softly, she quickly looked behind Siege and towards the door. It was shut. She blinked a little, recalling that she saw someone there not too long ago. She had definitely seen someone, had she not? That person could help her, surely. They could get the healer or something. Wait, who even was that? The Hufflepuff frowned, looking around the room and trying to see if one of the sleeping students had been the figure in the door.
As a pain surged through her body, she was forced to stop thinking about the stranger and moved her focus and attention back onto the boy in front of her. She had to rely on the help of this boy that just kissed her, despite the fact she had been quite firm in saying no after the last time. Serena needed his help, whether or not she wanted to admit it and she hated that more than anything. She wanted him to leave but she needed his help. She had hurt herself more, trying to get away from him and by slapping him. In fact, her body was just crying out in pain right now.
Sniffing, she looked at his face again before quickly looking away. She hated herself right now for not being strong enough to tell him to go. It took her a few moments but she nodded as she stopped moving away from him. Serena tried to relax her arms but she couldn't. Not whilst he was so close to her. Her body felt the tension, ready to hit him again if needed. "...Trying to help like you did the last time you kiss-" Her face started to go a little red as she spoke, suddenly aware of what she was saying, "kissed me?!". Serena stared at the blanket on top of her intensely, as though it was the most interesting thing ever. Of course, the truth was that she just did not want to look at him. Especially not after just saying that.
Unable to put out the flame that burnt angrily in her soul, she continued to retort back to his words, "Or perhaps like the time when you almost punched me in the face with a fist full of fire?" She was pulling out random things from their past, things that made no sense to her but she had recalled over their months of silence and time apart, "Was this like the time you tried to help Darius and ended up hospitalising him?" Serena barked at him annoyed. Memories and moments merged into one as she continued to talk, "Or perhaps it's special for me because we're nothing, right? That's what you think of us as. Nothing. We were always nothing to you..." She continued, sniffing as she tried to stop the tears from flowing but failed.
Looking at him suddenly, "What are you even doing here? It's late... You shouldn't be here, Siege. Just go back to your dorm. You're breaking curfew, aren't you?" She asked him in her dry raspy voice. She was asking him the question, rather than telling him, because she had no idea what time it was. It seemed like it was late enough to be breaking curfew but she could not tell for sure at this point. Her brain felt fuzzy and drowsy, she could be entirely wrong. Serena started to cough again, her throat stinging painfully and her lungs started to ache a little.
The girl groaned, she hated this whole thing. It was all made worse by his presence. He was forcing her to talk by his mere presence and that hurt her throat and chest even more.
"Cause I still f****** care, I still give a s***, I'm not leaving anytime soon because even if I'm not even sure about what happened, I still f****** care!"

Why Are You Even Here?
Suddenly seeing her calm down and stopped trying to get away, he knew she at least understood that she needed to rest. Also a good thing she calmed down, it was much more of a drag to try and help a struggling person rather than when they're calm. He wasn't sure why she'd listen to him though, was it because he had made a good point? Did he actually make sense? Or was it because she couldn't really do anything about whatever he is doing to help her? Either way he was still helping her, still quite unsure as to why he still was there helping her. She obviously wanted him to go, but why didn't he? Well, he knew that he had to stay, if he was gonna do something, he was gonna stay. He wasn't gonna leave her, not like last time, even if to him, there was really not a single reason for him to be there.
He couldn't help remembering the kiss, especially with the look she had and every time she'd try to look away from him, it was getting harder and harder to keep the kiss out of his head. It kept flashing over and over in his mind like a slideshow, WHILE helping Serena get comfortable once more. What led to it? Was he really that dumb and stupid? I do admit that the boy can be pretty stupid and impulsive at times, but damn not to that damn degree. Was it his fault? It can't be! Wait there was a push right? Oh damnnit! If the boy wasn't so preoccupied thinking about the damn kiss, he'd remember that he felt a damn push from somewhere! Yep, He's definitely and idiot, in fact I'm currently shaking my head trying to write this thing while Serena takes a nap. Never mind, by the time I finish this crap she'll probably be awake...Anyways, enough 4th wall breaking for now and let's get back to the story!
"...Trying to help like you did the last time you kiss-" Yep, he could definitely tell the tension in her words and her body, when she decided to look away once more, although this time turning very red at the mention of kiss. He couldn't help it too...But, It was strange. He didn't know what the hell that, no, this feeling was, unknown to him, what was it? Both painful and exhilarating at the same time, like something was strangling his heart but also resuscitating it at the same time. He, for the first time was pretty damn scared. What was happening to him? Perhaps this could become to be his only fear really, besides incarceration this feeling of being lost in something that both hurts and gives life at the same time, it was a pretty damn scary experience for him. Though looking away, she, it seems, still wasn't done with berating him, her anger clearly visible and audible with the way she talked.
"Or perhaps like the time when you almost punched me in the face with a fist full of fire?" Oh jeez bringing that up? Jeez it's been a long time since, since the beginning of the damn school year! Hell, he even said sorry, well sort of, and explained what it was! It was a damn bloody accident, though, I have to admit, with so many accidents it everything new might look like they aren't. He'd thought she'd already forgiven him for that, especially after the fact that the two of them ended up falling asleep right after next to each other's spots in class, soon becoming friends hanging around each other, arguably becoming one of her most trusted friends and she becoming probably his only true friend ever. That is, until that damn bloody accident.
Was this like the time you tried to help Darius and ended up hospitalizing him?" Oh god, another one? Stop bringing these up! The boy might actually feel bad! Yeah, he also remembered that, it probably because of him that Darius was never really the same after getting out of the hospital. Sure, the boy probably still idolized him and looked up to him, but his fear levels of Siege was probably off the rules, plus he probably doesn't wanna get punched into unconsciousness any more than he experienced. It was safe to say that the boy was never the same, hardly seen anymore, invisible, more so than he first arrived, making close friends with lots of other Gryffs when Siege was just trolling one pretty Hufflepuff.
"Or perhaps it's special for me because we're nothing, right? That's what you think of us as. Nothing. We were always nothing to you..." Wait what? What kind of backwards thinking was that? Did some heat get to her head? Well yes, days prior, the Camp-out, but still! That just didn't make sense! She was special because she was nothing to him? She should know by now. Siege treats anyone like they're nothing, not caring for them in any way, shape or form. She was the first one he'd really hung around with, the first one he thought he could trust and the first one the even relied on him at times. They were something alright, they were friends, exact opposites, but still friends, though now they weren't friends anymore just because of a stupid ass accident that rendered him unconscious for a good amount of time. If you could hear my sigh, it'd be followed by: "What a drag"
"What are you even doing here? It's late... You shouldn't be here, Siege. Just go back to your dorm. You're breaking curfew, aren't you?" Yeah he was, so? He didn't care, was he a boy that followed the rules? Did he even look like it? No, he didn't most definitely not, but you know what he cared for? HER, well not the movie, he didn't particularly like it, but I meant Serena, the girl in front of him who obviously hates him or is very angry at his being for the moment, but she was mad and it was showing.
"I explained it to you didn't I?" Facing her, done from pulling up her covers and fixing her bed. He remembered it all too well. He could have ruined that pretty face of hers with burns and a bruise if he hadn't stopped himself from doing so. "I was just...used to defending myself okay? And at that moment, my wand just flew out of my hand like a damn missile from North Korea and my instincts just kicked in...Which was to defend myself." Well I gotta hand it to the boy, he explained it pretty well, well as well as he could make it make actual sense. Now he can't explain the part where the flames coiled in his hands like a combination of Slytherin and Gryffindor mascots at his disposal. "If it means anything at this point...I'm sorry...I-" Siege would suddenly pause, what was he about to say? No no no, he can't say that, was he at war? With himself? Yes, he was. Good thing the last strongholds of sanity was pushing back the impulsive invaders back, considering that he paused before he was gonna say. Whatever he was about to say.
"As for Darius, the boy asked to be taught...He wanted to feel what it was like to be in fight and I gave him what I knew he couldn't take, cause it was to push him to get better." It seems as though Siege just completely switched to being Logical. Out of all the things he was logical and smart in, was...Fighting? Street smarts? What an idiot indeed, and even then his impulsive heart still rules over his mind for the most part, considering fights to be "Exciting", one of his many hobbies other than sleeping. "I know he was never the same, but it was his choice not mine, he said he was ready, he wasn't." Siege would say, colder than what he had ever been since his visit here in the Hospital Wing, he believed that if you say you were ready, then you should be ready, not any pointless blabbering about if you are or not, just decide and follow through. He didn't dislike the boy, but he also didn't like how he didn't just take the damn punches rather than enclosing himself to others. Either way Siege doesn't see it as his fault of what happened, he knew if he was at fault and he was a hundred percent sure it wasn't fully his.
"Special? Of course we were special...I felt we were something at least, rather than nothing...We were something okay? And stop telling me to leave, if I really didn't think we were anything, I wouldn't be here in the first place..." Siege would retort with a hint of tiredness in his voice, it was what? Hours since he's been here? He was staying cause he cared, he cared for her, he cared for her well being. "Like I said...I care, I care for you, so you could either accept it or not, but I doubt you're in the position to accept anything with your arms like that...Jeez here, let me fix that." Siege would sigh after talking and would make sure Serena's arms were in a stat that could not damage them any further than they were, especially after that slap? It probably hurt her more than it hurt him. He couldn't help but drop a joke in about the state of her arms, it was just him, but he hoped it would lighten things up a bit, even if he was probably the worst human being in her eyes right now, he still is helping. Why? It's pretty easy to see why, but he can't and doesn't know what is keeping him there.
One thing's for sure, he wasn't gonna leave anytime soon...Hopefully she doesn't sneak in any other questions.

Why Are You Even Here?
Serena's heart beat like it was about to explode out of her chest at any point. It pumped so fast that she felt like she could hear it. The adrenaline coursed through her body, fueled by her anger. It helped reduce the feeling of pain a little. Her chest would be hurting if she had stopped to feel the pain. Her heart did hurt though. It ached with every memory she recalled. She had lost someone important to her. For reasons that she could not fathom, she had lost someone every dear to her. He was perhaps her closest friend, before his words and actions hurt like he had stabbed her in the heart. At this point, she had no idea if it was physically hurting or emotionally anymore. Everything just hurt.
"I explained it to you didn't I?" "I was just...used to defending myself okay? And at that moment, my wand just flew out of my hand like a damn missile from North Korea and my instincts just kicked in...Which was to defend myself." "If it means anything at this point...I'm sorry...I-"
The Hufflepuff was so hard that his words just irritated her even more. Did he really think that was an explanation? His wand flew out of his hand because they were practicing the disarming spell, which she still had never mastered after that terrible lesson went so badly. It was as though he was trying to be funny and right now, she was not in the mood for it. In fact, she was so mad that she missed the fact he had almost apologised for it. Serena didn't think much of it because the anger had rushed to her head. If she was thinking rationally, perhaps she would have noticed it and found it incredibly shocking. In all of these months, despite everything, Siege never once apologised for anything... He was not the sort of person to apologise. She was always the first to admit when she was wrong and apologise for her actions. Hell, sometimes even when it was not her fault. But he was not. Perhaps that made his apology far more meaningful - you know, if she had actually noticed it. "Defending yourself from what? Me? The girl who can't even slap you without hurting herself right now? And you think you need to defend yourself from me?!" She snapped at him, though she was partially annoyed at herself for failing to hit him. He deserved a slap after what he did and yet, she was not strong enough to give him one. Her slap probably had no impact on her. She had no idea, to be honest. Serena had been in so much pain after hitting him that she did not even have the chance to see his reaction. "And no, you didn't explain it. How did you even conjure up so much fire? It's not normal to attack people with flames, you know?"
Serena had no idea where this was all coming from. The past month or two had forced her to think about all of these things over and over again. She had analysed everything she could remember about the Gryffindor boy beside her and all that was said. There were so many gaps in her memories, questions that were unanswered or moments that caused her more confusion. The girl did not understand why he chose to stop being friends with her but she had made every attempt to think about what she had done wrong. She wanted to make amends. But she couldn't think of anything that she had done to deserve all of this... She did, however, come up with so many questions, "And what's with all of the scars?! What, do you insist on getting into fights every damn day? Burn people, hit them for no reason, let them cut you?! Why can't you just be, I dunno, nice to people?" Her mind raced with thoughts that came out of her mouth before she could stop herself. It was like verbal diarrhea at this point. There was no filter stopping her from talking today. For once, she had the chance to question him and Serena was sure as hell going to take it.
"As for Darius, the boy asked to be taught...He wanted to feel what it was like to be in fight and I gave him what I knew he couldn't take, cause it was to push him to get better." "I know he was never the same, but it was his choice not mine, he said he was ready, he wasn't."
She clenched her fist a little as she heard the boy's cold words. She hated it. He said it so casually, as though he did nothing wrong. For the life of her, she could not understand how someone could be so cold. Whilst she never knew Darius, she had seen him lying in the hospital. She had helped carry his limp beaten up body there. The bruises, the cuts, the broken teeth... No one deserved all of that. "You could have gone easy on him! You could have stopped yourself from knocking him out! You could have said no, you know?? Not all of us are as strong as you! Some of us are just..." Serena started talking with full energy and angry in her voice. By the end of it, her voice hesitated slightly as she was no longer talking about Darius. No, she was talking about herself. Not everyone had the strength of Siege Aramastus Bal. Some people only had the strength of a weakling... of a Serena Towers... "Weak... Some of us can't do anything... Sometimes... we fail... Because we're not good enough... We're weak... Sometimes, we're not ready... Perhaps we'll never be ready... Perhaps... we're just not... enough..." Her voice was shaky by the end of her words, the volume of it reducing down to a mere whisper. A few tears escaped her eyes, rolling down her face as the reality of the situation bit her. She was weak. That was why all of this happened... She was not enough.
Serena had no idea how Darius was anymore, to be honest. She never really saw him around much after that incident. There were a few occasions in class but she never really spoke to him. This was no longer about him though. Her thoughts that moved on. Reality hit her then and there as she spoke. Maybe she was not ready to be here. Maybe she was too weak to be a witch. Maybe she was not ready for Hogwarts. Or to even attend a simple camp out...
"Special? Of course we were special...I felt we were something at least, rather than nothing...We were something okay? And stop telling me to leave, if I really didn't think we were anything, I wouldn't be here in the first place..." "Like I said...I care, I care for you, so you could either accept it or not, but I doubt you're in the position to accept anything with your arms like that...Jeez here, let me fix that."
The tears streamed down her face again, as she silently sobbed to herself and her own thoughts. Siege continued to talk as they did. His words hit her harder than she had expected them to. They did not make sense. His words went against his actions. She wanted nothing more than to believe his words. With every fibre of her being, she wished she could believe him. But she couldn't. Her broken heart failed to trust him. It did not make any sense to her. He claimed they were nothing. If he thought they were something, then his actions made no sense... If he claimed to care, then his words and actions in that dreaded corridor were baffling. Serena looked at him, the tears still streaming down his face as she asked him the most important question she could, "Then why did you leave?!" Her tone of voice was mixed with anger and hurt. It was laced with a sense of pleading too, as though she was pleading him to explain why he did what he did. No matter how much she thought about it, she could not work out why she was left crying in that corridor. She had thought about that whole situation a lot. So much so that she could not look him in the face for the longest time without thinking about the fact that he kissed her. It made her go red and awkward, whilst also being incredibly hurt, annoyed and confused. It resulted in her avoided him whenever she could.
Her mouth opened up again, unable to stop herself anymore... "I- I was just trying to help you... And then you- you kissed me for no reason- and I still tried to help you and you just... you walked away..." Her dry raspy voice snapped at him in a sharp whisper, broken by the pain and tears. Serena tried to cough into her hands but Siege was too busy moving them at this moment in time, much to her dismay. So instead, she turned her head away from him and coughed a little towards the wall. Her lungs stung a little, her throat was raw but that didn't stop her anymore... Her anger blinded her. It made her react recklessly and irrationally. She could not stop to think she was hurting herself more right now by doing all of this. Instead, the words came out of her mouth as soon as she stopped coughing, "You said we were nothing and told me to stay away from you... and now you're back- and you're still kis- kissing me... What? Are we gonna pretend all of that didn't happen?! All I wanted was to be your friend! To take you to the hospital, make sure you were okay and you..." She needed to know. She needed to understand why he thought it was okay to do all of these things and then walk back in here like none of that happened. Perhaps it never mattered to him.
Suddenly looking at him again, she realised she was the one in the hospital wing this time. The last time he kissed her, she was trying to get him here to make sure he was healthy. This time he kissed her, she was already here. But... He should not have been here. She had already questioned why and not quite got an answer that explained anything to her... Wait... "How did you even know I was here?" What even happened at the Camp Out...? Siege was there when she woke up but she had no idea how or why. In fact, she did not recall even getting there in the first place. The Professor explained that Reid and a girl called Marissa had brought her here but she had no idea why Siege was there.
Spotting a jug of water on the bedside, Serena attempted to move. She tried to get herself a glass of water so she could continue this yelling. It was a bit difficult given how much her body ached and the fact that Siege kept trying to hold her arms down and prevent her from hurting herself further. As she tried to move, she paused suddenly as she noticed something... Serena stared at him for a moment, her eyes suddenly stuck on his chest. On his Gryffindor robes, she saw a badge attached. A badge that she knew very well. It was one that she had on her own robes. Instantly, she looked down to her own clothing before remembering she was wearing a hospital gown. Looking up, her eyes flickered around the room for a moment trying to find her own robe but failing. Turning back to him, she stared at him in disbelief. "Did you... steal that?" Serena questioned in a disbelieving tone, staring at the Prefect Badge on his clothing. It was her first thought. He had beaten up a Prefect and stolen their badge... Because, who in their right mind would make Siege Aramastus Bal a... Prefect?!
Before she could ever get her answer, her eyes started to shut and the world around her quickly started to fade. Before she knew it, Serena's consciousness faded from her and she passed out. She awoke a few hours later, in time to see the sun peek through the window and hit her. The healer was standing over here, examining her. She opened her mouth to speak but gave up, out of sheer lack of exhaustion. Her eyes looked around... Siege wasn't there. Did she dream that whole interaction...? She did not have much time to question it though as her body started to fade again, falling into a deep slumber this time.
"I explained it to you didn't I?" "I was just...used to defending myself okay? And at that moment, my wand just flew out of my hand like a damn missile from North Korea and my instincts just kicked in...Which was to defend myself." "If it means anything at this point...I'm sorry...I-"
