Mysterious Maze Group 3
Late Evening - Aug 10th
After the students had so graciously helped destroy part of the school grounds before leaving for summer vacation, Eliseo had set to work preparing a bit of a surprise for those students who would return over the summer. Taking up a large piece of the grounds, there was now a looming hedge maze just begging for the passing and curious student to wander into its depths.
The maze would be open in the early evening for students to try their hand at navigating their way through the labyrinth. The somewhat strange Groundskeeper was quite curious to see how quickly the students could meander their way to freedom but made sure to work a few surprises in the dark depths of the maze.
The lowering sunlight allowed the heat of the day to relent and the excessive height of the hedges further cooled the air within the labyrinth. It had been quite challenging to erect the massive structure but Eliseo believed its winding corridors would allow the students to truly find themselves...or become inexplicably lost and terrified.
While the interior of the maze was still shrouded in mystery, the entrance offered its welcome. In the wall of dark green hedges were three large openings. Three different entrances into the maze would offer slightly different journeys for the travelers. But once inside, there was no telling what twists and turns would be waiting. An unnatural fog sat around the maze further obscuring the depth in which the students would be able to peer once inside.
Each maw of the maze was ready to claim its victims, but Eliseo had faith in the students to find their way. In his final walk through the maze, he had dropped a particularly scrumptious-looking cupcake and was rather disappointed that it was now lost in the maze. But perhaps some noble student would locate it and be able to rescue it before it was lost forever. Or perhaps there would be students lost in the maze forever...Probably not as that would reflect poorly on the future of Eliseo’s employment but he assumed that some students may find themselves more interested in the deadends.
But now, divided into small groups. It was up to the students to decide what they would do. Would they stick together? Would they scurry off on their own? Only time would tell. Their firs choice was simple. They needed to choose which of the three entrances they would be venturing into. The Northern and Southern entrances both seemed to weave to the left while the center entrance quickly turned to the right. Any of the entrances could get them through but each held different bits of absurdity within the ominous fog.
Navigation Options
All participants can choose to enter one of these entrances:
1. The Northern Entrance - It has a strange smell of watermelon lingering in the air...
2. The Middle Entrance - There is a note pressed against the side of the entrance reading 'Are you sure?'
3. The Southern Entrance- On the ground just in front sits an empty bucket.
How to Navigate the Maze
1. Each round you can choose an available direction to travel or to take a different action.
2. Each moderation will list the available directions for each student.
3. You can choose to stay as a group or wander off on your own. But if you are alone...beware of the orange.
4. Depending on the paths chosen, you may encounter challenges or changes within the maze.
5. Stats will be used in this tread and thus you will need to ensure they are in your trunk.
6. There will be a moderation post at least once a week. Quicker moderations will be done if all active participants have replied.
7. If a participant misses two weeks of moderation, it will be assumed they decided to take a nap and will be removed from the maze for their safety!
8. As always...clothing will be required in this thread!

The evening of the maze exploration had arrived and with it Ming’s dread grew. When he had signed up for the event, he had not quite expected that the magical world would be as insane as it was, and he was still acutely aware that he was unable to actually cast spells – he knew the theory, of course, but he had never quite managed to implement it.
The young Chinese pre-First Year (is that the term?) had completely foregone his formal clothes for once, opting to garb himself in a navy-blue sweatshirt and dark running pants, and proper running shoes. And his wand, useless as it would be for him if he somehow managed to get lost – or heaven forbid – manage to land into actual danger!
Normally he would have just picked an entrance and gone with it (no point in subjecting himself to more people than he absolutely had to, after all!) but the past sennight had taught him that he was woefully unprepared for even the most fundamental aspects of magical living, and he did not quite trust himself to not land into trouble without supervision just yet.
So, Hui Ming stood near the southern entrance, hoping that somebody form the assigned group would show up, and that perhaps he could tag along with them.
The curtains fell. And the silence was deafening

A Chance to throw herself recklessly into the unknown? Hell yes! The only thing that could have made this situation better would have been to do it on a broom. Angél approached the area in simple and practical clothes, her hair pinned up into a classic bun, and lips painted with bright red lipstick.Open to Interactions
Since this was earlier in summer camp, Angél would not have met many people other than those in her own cabin, and she had no idea if any of them would have been assigned to her group? Was it a group? She wasn’t entirely sure, only that the chaperone to her cabin was the one heading this event. It would appear the cousins shared an appreciation for the groundskeeper.
As she approached, she noticed someone was already there, but they did appear quite young at first glance. “Hey there!” Her voice was heavily French-accented, and those bright red lips formed a large smile as she greeted the young boy, but she did not look at him with the same lustful look she usually gave other boys; he seemed too young for her. Her emerald green eyes looked over the three entrances as she thought, something she was not entirely known to do. “Hmm… Watermelon, creepy note, or bucket. You know anything about this kid?” Angél asked as she waiting for others to arrive.

This had been one of the things Elena had been looking forward to the most about the summer camp. However, it went without saying that the girl also had her reservations about diving headfirst into a maze hosted by a school that was plagued by a variety of problems. The train wreck, Blossom Ball fiascos and a whole lot of other nameless incidents so maybe it was not a smart idea to blindly walk into a maze that contained Merlin knew what after all she had been through as Elena surveyed the winding peculiar maze with a suspicous gaze wondering what awaited them within? Dark, creepy monsters, traps or something far much worse. Funninly enough, it also happened to be within the relative area where they had been clearing plants a few months ago and now Elena realized the reasoning behind that.
It wasn't to beautify the grounds, it was to make space for a big whopping maze and for a moment, she felt almost betrayed. "Funny guy, that groundskeeper." The girl muttered herself as she trekked down to the maze noting the arrival of two others before her who happened to be lingering near the entrances. It was a debacle for sure as each pathway could contain either something very benefical to them or leave them regretting they had even considered that pathway. She offered a greeting with a brief tilt of her head as her eyes scanned the three entances analyzing them one by one. There was the one with the funny watermelon smell whic the brunette sure as heck wasn't going to go down. The smell only made it clear they were trying to lure you to go down that path and she wasn't about to fall for that trick. As for the note, it was trying to cast doubt in her opinion which made it the most reasonable one and as for the last entrance, it contained a rather plain bucket and nothing else.
Watermelon entrance was out of the question, that odor was like attracting prey, she didn't trust and the imagery of the bucket just there seemed far too simple. "I reckon we try the middle one." The brunette said taking a step forward eyeing the note. In her mind, it made the perfect sense. "Think about it, it's trying to prevent us from going down this path either to make us second-guess our choices or maybe it's protecting something." That in her books made it all the more worth it to give it a shot and if they wound up being terribly wrong, well, they would deal with that obstacle if they crossed it. She had her trusty wand and had faith in her own skills to deal with anything. There might be multiple entrances but there was only one finish line and she intended to get there one way or the other.

Ming blinked in surprise at being addressed by the French witch. He had for the most part kept to himself, and the vast majority of the students had known to leave him alone through some unspoken agreement.
"Greetings to you as well, Miss." Though the Chinese boy's voice lacked any hint of a foreign accent, but he spoke slowly, careful to enunciate his words properly. "Unfortunately, I know as little as you do about this. The Central entrance is clearly a challenge." One that he would have been tempted by, had he been capable of magic. "The others . . ."
Ming was saved from having to display the depths of his magical ignorance as another senior showed up. This other girl - Ming noted that she didn't introduce herself either. Perhaps you were just expected to know all the seniors? - studied the entrances before jumping right into speculating about the maze without so much as a hello. How rude!
Ming found it interesting that the older girl - not the French one - oh, he really needed to learn their names at some point was also inclined towards the central entrance, even though her reasoning for choosing it was completely different from his own.
Or maybe, there was something actually dangerous in there? It would be terribly rude of him to contradict an elder though, especially in public. So the Chinese boy just held his silence and nodded. Instead, he chose to raise another concern.Maybe it was protecting something.
"Excuse me," he spoke up, feeling every bit of the nerves an 11-year-old introvert would feel addressing seniors. "I am afraid I'm not quite proficient with magic just yet, since I'm not even a first-year. So if we choose to go into the central entrance, and it happens to be an incorrect choice . . ."
He let the words hang there, not quite willing to outright state that he would be a liability, but making the implication of it clear.
The curtains fell. And the silence was deafening

After what Bloom had to endure a couple nights before, the thought of the maze really got to her. Was she really about to go and do something that was coined as mysterious right now? She realized how useless she was when she was in that forest with her peers. She had no spells up her sleeve that she memorized.
One thing was for sure: Bloom had A LOT of studying to do this year, especially with the O.W.L.s coming up. It was beyond her on how she would be able to prepare for all of that in time. There were only 10 months in an academic year and even so, she was just starting to connect with others.
When she arrived, she saw two faces: one she did not know and the other had some familiarity. As she looked around even more, she saw a very familiar face: Elena Jangleton. They all seemed to be together in a group, and from the looks of it, it was deciding which path to take.
There were three paths to choose from: one that smelled like delicious watermelon, one with a note, and one that had an empty bucket. Bloom looked at each path confusingly.
"Hey guys," she greeted, and quickly, she listened to their thoughts about the different paths. it seemed to be the highlight of the discussion as it was the only way to start this mysterious maze game.
"Well, the one that smells really good reminds me of Hansel and Gretel. The house always smelled delicious and well... We know how the children ended up...," she mumbled at the end. Bloom had made her point on not going to the first path at all. In a way, she was definitely for the middle path with the note as it seemed very Hogwarts-esque with hinting not to go there, but really it might be the right answer.
"I'm all for the middle, too," she said, shrugging. Now that she gave her input, the rest were to decide amongst themselves. Bloom was in no way a personality to lead.
ACTION: Bloom prefers the middle but she will follow the group wherever they enter

Howard had been feeling shaky for the past 48 hours. The news of the attack on Hogsmeade had rocked him. As a student of Hogwarts he was no stranger to surprise attacks, but those had all been from shadow monsters or other sources of evil. Scary things that go bump in the night were easier to forget about, easier to brush off because their actions could be easily explained. It was pure evil doing pure evil things, but to hear of other humans slaughtering their own? That was something that left a sick feeling in his stomach. Yes, he had of course heard of war and terrorism, but to experience it so close to his home left him unsettled and confused. It made him sad and angry, scared but with a desire for revenge. Howard was hardly a saint, however this disregard for life appalled him. Perhaps a sign that he himself wasn't so lost to the shadows.
He had thought about skipping this evening's event all together, but an excuse to clear his mind and distract himself was just what the doctor ordered. So, sour mood and all he would make his way towards the maze. Upon his arrival he would see that some of the designated group had already gathered. His greeting would be silent as he offered a simple head nod to the others. It seemed they had three choices ahead of them: the fruity, the bucket or the middle that dared to challenge them. "Yeah, middle." Howard almost grunted in response.
Action: Howard will enter the Middle Path unless the majority of the group chooses a different path. If they do, he will follow.

Luka didn’t want to go to the Maze. He didn’t even want to leave his cabin. But he had signed up for it and they would be expecting him. So he dragged himself out of his bunk and made his way across the grounds to where the Maze had been set up byt the Hogwarts groundskeeper. He shuffled his feet, staring at the ground as he walked, hands in the pockets of his shorts. The closer he got, the slower his steps became, as if hoping that they would begin without him and he could return to his cabin. That would not be the case, he was neither the first to arrive, nor the last.

He approached the group with a small wave and a quiet “Hello. Luka Volkov.” It seemed they had been discussing which entrance to choose. He looked at the Maze, noting the three entrances but it didn’t really matter to him which they chose. He wandered over to each entrance, looking at the bucket, the note, and the one that smelled of watermelon. What sort of strange Maze had been designed for them? What would happen to them inside? He wasn’t sure he could handle any scary surprises tonight. He shuffled back to the group. “What if teacher expects you to ignore sign and that is why he put there?” He asked quietly.

Angél got confirmation that the younger looking boy also knew nothing about the maze before them, though that didn’t really surprise her. The new girl who walked up, who looked about her age or older, commented on the groundskeeper. “Does he do things like this often?” She could not remember a groundskeeper doing any kind of event last time, but then again, she had been focused on other things.
When she suggested they go down the middle path, Angél grinned. “I love a challenge!” That would be when the boy professed his lack of proficiency with magic, not even being a first-year then… So Angél spoke her mind. “Looks like you’ll be a liability no matter where we go if the maze is magic reliant. Though if you are smart you might be useful just because you have not been in school yet does not make you entirely useless.” Angél was not known for her subtly. Enter another girl greeting the group and adding in her thoughts. “True could be something specific to lure us into a trap, no?” Two other boys joined, both being in favor of the middle, and it made sense to her. “Looks like the middle it is then! I’m Angél, by the way.” She stated as she made her way towards the middle path, more than happy to lead the way.

Serena left her cabin wearing a plain pink sweater, blue jeans, and white trainers as she began walking towards the maze. She thought that exploring a maze would be fun and an easy way to bond with new people, so of course, she had signed up.
However, she had almost forgotten that it was happening tonight. That was why she was running slightly behind. Hopefully, her group hadn’t left without her! But thankfully, it seemed as if they hadn’t left yet, although Serena was definitely one of the last people to arrive.
“Hi! I’m Serena Bowen.” Serena said with a wave. The only person she recognized in her group was her Quidditch teammate, Howard, although they hadn’t spoken much (well, at all, really) outside of practice.
After introducing herself, Serena listened as the group gave their opinions on which way to go. She agreed that the watermelon-scented path seemed like a trap. However, she wasn’t sure if the middle route was the correct choice.
But it seemed as if the majority wanted to go down that way, and Serena definitely didn’t want to wander the labyrinth alone when this was meant to be a group activity. So, she followed the girl who introduced herself as Angél down the middle path, hoping that she made the right choice.
