Slumber Party
Late Evening-Night, 28th August 2021
To end the summer with a lovely event, a slumber party was organised for students. It was arranged near the campfire for the day but students were permitted to stay up a little later today than usual. They would not be able to leave this specific area unless it was to go back to the cabins and sleep.
The slumber party itself was in full bloom. There were a bunch of blankets, bean bags and other seating options that people could sit on to get comfortable. A large green harp sat on the grounds, near the food. A soft ambient sound came from it as it was enchanted to play on its own. Relaxing music served as a background for all of the chattering. In a way, the evening was actually rather romantic - with the starry night sky above their heads, a beautiful blazing campfire and soft ambient music.
It would not be a slumber party without food, of course. There were plenty of snacks around for people to eat, picnic baskets that they could share with groups as well as soft drinks that could be consumed. Biscuits, crisps, even scones and cream or simple sandwiches, as well as campfire foods like marshmallows and crackers to make s'mores with. Accompanied with various juices and fizzy drinks.
Teachers lurked around among the students, watching over them. It was a peaceful evening so far. The sound of the lake gently flowing on one side, the sound of flickering of the flames from the campfire on another side and a harp playing from another side. These sounds would definitely be overrun by the sound of chattering children within time but that was fine. The whole point of the event was just to have fun.
OOC Notes:
For those NOT taking part in Spin the Bottle:
This thread is open to all of you are who not taking part in the Spin the Bottle threads. This is happening at the same time. If you wish to, you can react to watching the others playing spin the bottle. However, if you mention specific individuals then please acquire OOC consent to mention them first. If you do not have OOC consent, please don't metagame/godmod seeing them. (Assume you cannot see them if they haven't given you consent).
For those who ARE taking part in Spin the Bottle:
Those who have signed up for Spin the Bottle have their own threads (see reducio below). Groups are allocated mostly by years but there are a few random groups, just to put 16 people in each group. For those playing it, these are the group allocations:

Slumber Party
"Open For Interaction"
Joseph stepped out of the cabin, stopping just past the threshold and letting the door swing closed behind him. He looked up into the starry night, the moon light reflecting down on him. He felt a sense of peacefulness, and took a deep breath filling his lungs with the cool night air. "What fun summer camp has been," JD thought to himself. He had heard stories from muggles about summer camp and had expected whittling soap bars, climbing rope ladders, and learning how to start fires by rubbing sticks together. This had not been anywhere close to that, and JD had been very appreciative of that. Summer camp had been a blast, and JD was feeling quite elated.
He glanced around the area, and decided to check out the night's events. He began walking towards the allotted place of hangout. In the distance, JD could see small sparks of bright orange leaping up from the dancing flames of campfires, the people sitting around them just dark silhouettes of shadow. He could see those silhouettes periodically leaning toward each other, faces making contact for more than a minute or two, and JD could swear he felt his stomach churn. He decided that wasn't his scene, and decided to find and make his way to the least populated portion of the area as possible. Upon arrival, JD found it to be quite peaceful. He looked around, spotting a display of food, a nearby campfire, and a harp that was gracefully playing a melodic tune. Blankets were scattered all about littered with beanbag chairs and cushions. JD made his way towards any place he might acquire a s'more that wasn't completely saturated by dense snogging. This was a bit difficult, but he eventually found an empty blanket with a single beanbag chair, and decided to sit for a moment. He plopped down, adjusting his kilt. JD leaned back, the gentle breeze disturbing his poorly combed hair. He took a deep breath, and thought about what the year was going to hold.
JD was distracted by the sound of some people lip-locking nearby. He stood and rotated his beanbag chair, facing himself away from the "fun". Before sitting back down, JD decided to tease his palette with the delectable taste of a s'more. He walked over to the food tables, stepping over a couple that were nearly entangled beyond separation. JD collected the necessary ingredients for the delicious concoction, and stepped over to the fire. He ran the marshmallow through with a stick, and stuck it into the flames, allowing its outer surface to bubble and char. The flame disappeared with the unburnt surface of the marshmallow, and JD delicately squeezed the crispy delight between his crackers and chocolate. He set the stick aside, and sat at the table staring into the fire. He watched the flames dance back and forth, as if in some unchoreographed ballet.
As JD sat watching the flames dance to and fro, he thought of the fireplace back home. He remembered a cold night with frosted window panes, frothy hot chocolate in his mug, and his mother's voice humming a lighthearted tune as she rocked back and forth in her chair, knitting a scarf. JD began to sing under his breath:
JD took a second bite of his s'more, and seriously considered throwing it at the couple. He wiped the gooey from the corners of his mouth, and turned back towards the fire. JD stood, picked up a soda, and walked back to his beanbag chair. He sat down again, taking a drink. The fizz tickled his nose as the carbonated liquid lapped at this top lip. He stared up at the stars, and lost himself in his thoughts.

JD turned in his seat towards a nearby group, and watched as a glass bottle spun around in the center of their circle. A couple of the girls in the group giggled in delight, and one of the boys hit the other on the shoulder. He felt a touch of jealousy begin to rise, and his face went flush with embarrassment. He had never considered the idea that girls might become more appealing, and even down-right attractive, as he got older. He found the thought to be a little uncomfortable. It felt out of place among all the other thoughts he had. Even so, he considered the idea that maybe one day he would start to like someone. Right now it seemed a bit much though. He looked at the two people on the ground nearby, and thought they were doing enough liking each other for themselves and everyone around. JD took a second bite of his s'more, and seriously considered throwing it at the couple. He wiped the gooey from the corners of his mouth, and turned back towards the fire.
