Calypso meandered across the lawn of the Campgrounds, incredibly pleased to be back
at Hogwarts. Though it had only been a month since she had returned home, the girl had been surprised how much she missed the rolling hills, bright sunrises, camaraderie, and overall wonder of her school.
The train ride had been enjoyable, giving Cal the chance to catch up with friends from
the year before. The gleaming scarlet steam engine had taken her breath away just as much as the first time. At one point, during a lull in conversation, the Gryffindor had just closed her eyes and listened to the myriad of languages floating around the Express. All had felt right with the world.

On her way to her cabin, Calypso stopped here and there to chat with her peers and teachers, and take in all the new sights. By the time she reached the cabin adorned with a Hippogriff flag to which she'd been assigned, the area had been mostly cleared. Campers were eager to claim the more desirable bunks for themselves.
Stepping through the door, Cal was pleasantly surprised to find that Hippogriff Cabin
was decorated almost exactly in the fashion of Gryffindor Tower. It felt familiar and cozy, with rich red velvets and dark walnut woods. Each four-poster bed had its own thick hangings, and there was plenty of room for belongings. It even smelled a little like her common room; cinnamon and firewood and clean sheets.
Cal felt instantly at home.

Because of her leisurely pace upon arrival, there were already nine other campers in the cabin, plus Professor Jensen, the Head of Slytherin. Thankfully, there seemed to be some type of expansion charm on the place, so that it had a much bigger interior than it looked to from outside. Most of her peers were either sitting on their claimed bunks or chatting in the center of the room. Several different conversations were commencing at once, and Cal could only make out a few coherent sentences here and there.

Calypso set her trunk down on a bed near a window -natural light and fresh air was her preference- and got her kitten, Merope, settled in on the blankets. Hopefully no one was allergic to cats! Though thankfully, Mer didn't shed much. The girl went over to the table set with snacks and cupcakes that Professor Jensen had apparently baked for them all. What a nice gesture! Her teacher acted all tough and indifferent, but Cal knew she cared more than she let on. She sat next to a boy eating like a tornado [Galton L.], briefly introducing herself. Calypso chose a vanilla cupcake from the platter and took a bite. Jesen had already retired to her area of the cabin. Cal would have to remember to thank her later.

After finishing her baked good, Cal made her way over to the group chatting about dueling and Quidditch. Neither of these subjects were really her forte, but she could appreciate them. And besides, she would be living with these people for a month. Best to start off on the right foot. "Hi! I'm Calypso." She paused for a minute before remembering the way Hogwarts students always seemed to introduce themselves: first and last names; quite different from how it was at home. "...Starling. Calypso Starling. You were talking about the upcoming duel? I don't know much about it. Would you mind catching me up to speed, if it's not too much trouble?"

(I made this on mobile, too many names to ping)
It seems Galton’s opener question about snacks would go unanswered. It had been the perfect bait to get people talking about food and all things sweet but it hadn’t taken. Oh well, more to talk of later… No, even if they had talked about food now they wouldn’t have run out of conversation. When food was concerned Galton’s knowledge and opinions were borderline endless.

What had stuck was talks of Galton’s second passion: Dueling. It was the only thing that ever really made Galton focus and reveal a side other than… naive sugar fiend. His cabin mates were in for a real treat now. Just like with food, Galton’s opinions and knowledge of dueling could go on for quite awhile.

He waiting for an opening in the chatter, taking a munch and nibble from the cupcakes to keep from interrupting.

When there was a pause, he interjected. “Okay so Slytherin took the dueling championship for last year by winning the most matches in the three stages of duels that were held, by a clear margin too. They get to duel a bunch of our foreign friends” He took a breath and continued on. “They have a few mean teams on their side, a good amount of synergy in their pairings and are not afraid to use some of the dirtier spells like Curse of the Boogies. What a terrible spell.” He took another nibble of the cupcake and resumed his rant. “But, what will really matter for the duels are the skills and synergies of the visiting teams. Slytherin could get lucky and go against a bunch of low year opponents, or they could get unlucky and go against a bunch of higher year students. Last round Slytherin tied Ravenclaw for years of experience on the team, so it would be impressive if they were beaten there, but I would think the visitors want to throw their best up. Besides year experience team synergy matters, if the visitors can put together a few teams like the infamous Dmitri and Ruby combo Slytherin has, things will be interesting.” Galton took a moment to breathe and wipe a few cupcake crumbs from his cheeks after finishing his short tirade. He smiled to the group, waiting to hear what they’d say. Dealla and the Starlee has to have opinions on the matter.

Almost immediately Luka spied a boy as excited for the delicious treats as he was. He gave Galton a happy grin, nodding vigorously. “Hi Galton. Gryffindor, is the lion House? Is it true your Professor in charge is in a biker gang?” He asked brightly, reaching for another cupcake. He hadn’t forgotten what they’d been told the last time they visited the school, by Professor Browne, but he’d barely had the chance to ask about it at the Ball. There had been too much fighting and strangeness going on. This time, he had a whole month to ask about it and he was determined!

He glanced at Dee when she introduced herself then talked about swimming and dueling. It wasn’t that those things didn’t sound exciting but what he really wanted to hear about was whether or not they would get to play Quidditch. So when the very tall boy also introduced himself and mentioned playing, Luka smiled. “Is nice to meet you Dee. Hugh, you play Quidditch? I am Keeper for the Koldovstoretz team.” He spoke with the pride he felt, being so young and holding the position was truly an honour after all.

Finally, someone he recognized entered the cabin and he gave her a bright smile. “Nice to see you again, Eirian!” He greeted her then leaned down and whispered in a conspirator’s tone, eyes turning to look at Professor Jensen as he spoke. “Did you ever find out about the spy thing?”

Another girl entered and the girl who had been in the room when he arrived also greeted him then a boy who looked younger than the rest of them entered and quietly chose a bunk without saying anything at all. Was the boy a soon-to-be first year? “Hello!” He greeted the boy brightly, remembering how scary it had been entering his first year at Koldovstoretz.

Cupcake boy had begun to explain the duel thing and he listened attentively. It wasn’t Quidditch but dueling was kind of interesting. It made him think of his fencing matches a bit. Fencing with spells instead of swords. “If teams matter, that would put us guests at a disadvantage if we don’t have good teams here…” He spoke thoughtfully.

Starlee didn't need any hyping up from her friend: she was just as pleased with her bangs as Tina was. As she fluffed them up, Tina felt the need to do a double take, standing back to admire them once again with her hands falling to her hips. They really did make her look older, cooler, and overall much more confident than the polite and reserved Starlee who she was familiar with (then again, anyone looked reserved next to her when she was blabbering away). She did feel a slight pang of jealousy at the realisation that her hair would never quite sit that way, but pursed her lips into a tight smile so as to not let those emotions through: her envious ways wouldn't be driving any more rifts between her and Star this year. She'd already promised herself that before she arrived at Summer Camp.

Before she could get too used to this new and improved Starlee model, however, the girl receded back into a more familiar state, one that was meek, shy and stammering. A red tint blossomed in her cheeks, her neck flushing from what could only have been embarrassment. Tina raised an eyebrow, her mouth subconsciously lifting at the corners so that her teeth flashed in an excited smile. Oh...?

"I- er... Well I was waiting for you... but... well... so there's a boy..." Tina fell into an open-mouthed grin. Starlee Kennedy was an absolute minx! She couldn't lie; her best friend was a stunner, and with those flashy new bangs of hers' it was only a matter of time before boys were falling over left right and center to get the chance to talk to her. Still: the cheek of this girl, abandoning her best friend to bat her eyelashes at handsome strangers on the Hogwarts Express! In all fairness, Martyna had done the exact same, only her carriage partner was Hanako Tone, who was far too insufferable for eyelash batting of any sort. "I'll... I'll tell you about him later!" Would she heck!

"How could you Starlee~?" Tina wept, feigning heartbreak with her hand placed dramatically on her chest. She straightened up less than a second later, however, unable to contain an ounce of composure for more than a short moment. Soon enough, the badger was rapidly shaking her arms back and forth in front of her and making a unintelligible, high pitched noise of pure joy, absolutely exploding with energy. All those snacks whilst sat down on the Hogwarts Express had got her pent up! Just when Starlee was adjusting back to the rhythm of the rest of the group, Tina shot a hand forward to grip her wrist (not tight enough to be painful, but firm enough to demonstrate her sheer enthusiasm at this new revelation that Starlee liked a boooyyyyy!) "No way! You are telling me about him now!" she demanded with a laugh, attempting to playfully drag her away towards the beds.

"...Would you mind catching me up to speed, if it's not too much trouble?" came the tail end of Calypso's request as they were leaving (if Starlee was complying, that is). Tina should have left this question to be answered by someone who intended to stick around and help with any follow ups the girl might have, but she was feeling impulsive and loud and wanted nothing more than to get Starlee feeling the same way.

"Slytherin duellers are going to ABSOLUTELY WRECK the exchange people in duelling, that's what's happening!" she shouted. Eh, someone else would do the rest of the filling in. As she dragged Starlee further, she began firing off questions one after the next. "Okay, okay, tell me about him, what's his name? What year is he in? Is he tall? Sorry okay
I'll be quiet so you can..."
Unless Starlee stops her, Tina has left the thread.
(Permission to drag Starlee away was granted OOC.)

Starlee giggled at Tina's feigned crying. She knew the girl was quite boy-crazy, as they had spent quite a lot of time discussing them. Who they liked, who was cutest, who they wished would ask them on a date... All questions that honestly... Starlee wasn't the most interested in. She had tried to put foreword potential options, but for whatever reason, there hadn't been a boy that Starlee was truly interested in at Hogwarts.

In these conversations, Starlee hadn't ever brought up the French boy. Partially because that night was such a mess for Tina and Starlee's friendship, something she hoped to never repeat, but also because she honestly thought she would never see him again. I mean really, it was fate that the boy she only knew of through association of one of her enemies would stumble in on her compartment on the train. She hadn't even known the boys name before then. 'Emile....' she sighed dreamily as thoughts of him began to spread through her mind.

Attempting to ground herself back into reality, Starlee tried rejoining in on the conversation. She really tried. She even nodded to one of the new entries into the conversation, a girl named Calypso. It wasn't often that Starlee found a name that she felt rivaled hers in originality and uniqueness, but Calypso was certainly one of them. She smiled, wanting to compliment the girl on her name, but an arm shot out from beside her, grabbing her wrist and dragging her backwards, away from the group.

She began to giggle as she realized that, finally, Starlee had a cute boy situation to talk about with Tina - and Tina was over the MOON about it. Of course, she laughed even more at her comments about the dueling team, nodding along in agreement, while looking back at the group and smiling. She couldn't believe her luck so far this summer camp. Finally meeting her crush on the train, staying in a cabin with Tina... maybe even more chances to chat with Emile... This was going to be fun.

Starlee began blushing again as Tina began to fire off her questions, not leaving enough time for breathing almost in-between each one. "Well... first off... he's FRENCH!" she said, trying yet failing to hold in a squeal of delight at the end as the two headed toward the beds to begin to spill out the gossip.

This is a short moment with Noah Jupe at the Hippogriff Cabin.
Noah happily opened the door to the Hippogriff cabin and the eerily shocking similarity in decorations appeared so much like the Gryffindor Common Room. He stood there, gaping at the red decorations everywhere. It seemed to match his cape that he brought with him. Only his cape was a darker red. Noah slinked over to one of the bunks and hoped to find an empty bunk.

Walking down across the cabin, Noah picked a bunk in the corner, the farthest from the door. Sure, he was close to a window, but he wanted people to not pick on him as much during camp. The odd feeling seemed to come back, like one of his siblings would be around. He immediatly shook it off. That was not possible. His siblings had to stay home with their dads. Noah groaned as he realized the odd feeling was not the feeling of his siblings being around but of him being hungry. He wasn't in the mood for food trucks or the food that come from them. So he, instead, grasped the pillow on his bed and chewed it for a little, letting the odd feeling sink back down.

The feeling clearly symbolizing how much he would love this camp, but he doesn't seem to be interested in half the events at camp. Perhaps he should check out the food trucks they say is coming...

"There's too much reeeed," Jack complained aloud to no one as he wandered through the Hippogriff Cabin, disgusted by how much it seemed to remind him of Gryffindor. He wondered what they thought of it. Could they have been as sick of their house color as he was? Perhaps even more since they had to live with it during school, too? Well, since his very hair was red, Jack doubted they were quite as used to it or tired of it as he was. It was one reason he had tried to get highlights of brown and blonde as well.

Just as he was peering through the curtain-lined bunk beds, Jack noticed a boy...was he...chewing on a pillow? At first he thought maybe it might have been some strange sleep-eating habit or something but then he noticed the kid seemed to be awake. Not sleep-eating, then. The Slytherin made a face and took a step back.

"We do have a kitchen of sorts, you know," he told the boy; a kid he didn't remember seeing around before. Maybe he was a younger year or in a different house or both. "Why don't you go find something proper to eat instead of gnawing on bedding?" He tilted his head, scrutinizing the other kid. "Do you know where it is? I can take you to it if you like."

"WHO ARE YOU? Noah asked, clearly curious. It was odd, he was feeling hungry earlier this morning, but he was afraid to admit that he was terrified of food elsewhere. He only trusted the Great Hall when it came to food, and that was something he seemed to pride himself on.

"You know where the food is? Are they good? Yeah, I guess I can go with you. Just let me do something." Noah took out his pictures, iron on pictures, of his face, and offered it to the Slytherin in his cabin.

"How did you end up in Hippogriff? I would've thought that Slytherin students go into thesteral, as they seem to pride themselves on seeing death." The boy was clearly curious, and he wanted to explore more than most people would like to show. He smiled, but quickly frowned. Was he about to make friends with the opposite house, the Gryffindor's mortal enemies? One of his dads was a slytherin, but so were three of his brothers, including his twin.

"My friend, would you... be friends with a boy like me, as I don't want to get into a fight with someone who is cool as you? The Slytherin House seems to be so awesome, but the green color is everywhere, and green made him think of envy.

Jack jumped as the other boy practically yelled his question at him. "Whoa, jeez! Isn't it rude to ask someone who they are before introducing yourself first?"

He blinked as the other kid continued to spout questions; these ones mostly about food. Jack could hardly think to respond before watching the pillow-chewer take out pictures of his...face...?...and offered them to him.

"Uh...thanks..." he said, looking at the pictures with obvious puzzlement. "What are these for?"

The Welsh boy had barely asked the question before his younger companion was already asking more of his own like how Jack had ended up in Hippogriff. All Jack could do was shrug helplessly, listening to what the stranger said about Slytherins priding themselves on seeing death.

"What? That's crazy!" he cried. "Why would anyone pride themselves on seeing death? Who would want to see death if they could avoid it?" The memory of Victor Moore dying in his arms flashed in his mind briefly and he shuddered. No, he definitely would not have prided himself on having witnessed such an event. He wished he never had.

Suddenly, the word 'friend' caused Jack to flinch and he turned slowly to regard the unfamiliar boy once more. Then he smirked at being called 'cool', doing his best not to burst into laughter.

"Listen, kid," he began. "You don't want to have friends if you can help it. All they do is bring you trouble whether they mean to or not. The less people you care about, the better." He sighed then, wishing he would have followed his own advice.

"Anyway, kitchen is this way. What are you hungry for? I think I saw a fruit bowl on my way over."
@Noah Jupe
Hippogriff Welcome to the Hippogriff Cabin Closed
Noah turned, stifling a laugh, but he just couldn't help it. After a few moments, he responded, "Nothing with milk, eggs, soy, wheat, fish, shellfish, mold, or toads. I'm allergic to them."

Turning towards the door, he grabbed Jack's hand, quickly letting go and stuffing them in his pockets. What was he thinking, Jack would not like him at all. After all, Noah was afraid of almost everything, and was allergic to most ingredients in food. His grades from last year wasn't quite so impressive, unless Jack was interested in watching Noah pot plants.

"Y- yeah, let-let's go to the kitchen." Noah stuttered, nervously. How could he ruin this potential friendship? "I understand that friends may bring you trouble and will tie you down, but, would you want to be friends with me? Not anyone else, as I try to avoid trouble." Clearly, Noah was embarrased, but there was reasons why he wanted to be friends with a Slytherin. His father was one reason, and he loved Steve. But he wanted a friend to prank his stupid brothers for once, someone with more or equal cunningness. All Noah has is his dorkiness, and even then, he was scared to show it.
