Musical Meeting Closed

It had been a long time since Katrina had sat at a piano and played. Her hands moved without a second thought as she played a musical piece from Bach. It was all memorized from a time long ago. She was struggling through it. At last, she had made her way through it and was able to play with without flaw. It was not a hard piece in the slightest. It just sounded good. She was distracted when- at once- her cat Boomerang jumped on the piano and someone fell through the door.

"Um hello?" Katrina turned to look at the very embarrassed door-faller-through-er. She scooped up Boomerang who had made it a game to run down the piano and make a loud noise on each piano key.

"Want to join me? Do you know how to play?" Katrina scooted over and left a place for her to site beside her. It would be nice to play a duet if the girl knew any. Katrina put her hands lightly on the keys and played a few scales. C, F, and G. It had been a long time since she had practiced.

Katrina put her hands down and allowed the girl to play.

When May crashed, a horrible sound was heard on the piano. She standed up, smoothed her skirt and robes and looked up. A ginger cat was playing the piano? Well, lots of things could happen, but, the cat was playing horrible this time.

Quills, books and Ink were on the beutiful cleaned Rehearsal Room floor. Worse, her homework notes were plenty of ink, well, that would mean that she would have to clean it. She smiled, embarassed and looked up at the girl. ''Um, hello?'' the girl had said. ''Hullo'' said May, redder than a tomato. ''Sorry for interrupting your beutifful music, but I-I crashed...'' she said, still very embarassed. ''Want to join me, you know how to play?'' asked the girl. Well, of course she knew how to play! But, how would she play, when someone else was there. Well, maybe her family yes but, someone she did not know? ''O-ok'' she asked, redder than before. She accepted the seat and heard the beutiful notes the girl practiced. ''You play very good'' said May, polietly. When the girl let May play, she swiftly put her hands on the piano and began to play ''Moonlight'' by Beethoven. She thoguht she played good, but she was still red. Anyhow, she continued to play.

Katrina noticed the girl's reddening face as she played. She played better than Katrina had. The Gryffindor put on a smile hoping the small gesture would somehow boost the timid girl's confidence.

It hadn't been long since Katrina had been in her shoes. Only a few months ago she was even more shy. Since the catastrophe of the Masked Ball and her Christmas spent alone-- Katrina had built herself better than before. Now she was trying to stand out and make a name for herself. No longer was she the quiet girl.

Katrina rummaged deep in her satchel for her journal. There was a duet that her brother used to force her to play over and over. She pulled out the creased music and placed it on the piano. It was an easy to learn version. Katrina hadn't gotten too far past that. The piece she had just played was the most she could do.

"This is a duet I used to play with my brother, want to give it a try?" Katrina waited for her to respond and she took a few steps over to gather the fallen items. She drew out her cherry want and cast the cleaning spell to clean up the spilled ink.

Katrina started pretty slow on the piece. She let the girl catch up with it. The song was a fun melody that her brother, Liam, wrote last year. Katrina's hands slowly played the piece.

Boomerang shifted his weight. He sat rather precariously on the top of the piano looking down at the duo. His orange and white marks made Katrina grin. His sparkling eyes seemed almost mystical. He let out a contented 'murp' before, somehow, curling up on the piano and beginning to purr.

Katrina almost let out a exclamation as she remembered. She had a huge Defense against the dark arts assignment due tomorrow. As soon as she thought about homework she also remembered the Astronomy thing, and the Potions test.

Katrina waited for them to finish the song before speaking, "I am so sorry for rushing out on you! I just remembered all of the homework I have to do still. I completely lost track of time. Maybe we could do this again another time. " Katrina waited for her to answer before tearing out the page from the journal, "Here, keep this, I have another copy" she smiled and raced out of the Rehearsal Room. She had a feeling that was not the last time she would be playing in there.

Katrina Walker leaves the thread unless she is stopped

May was ready to do the duet with her new friend, Katrina. She looked at the beautiful cat she had, Boomerang, May remembered the name.
She sat straight on the piano chair. While Katrina searched for the duet.
Then, she saw a look of anticipation on her new friends face. She wondered what was it.
"I am so sorry for rushing out on you! I just remembered all of the homework I have to do still. I completely lost track of time. Maybe we could do this again another time. " said Katrina, rushing away. ''Oh, it's ok, I'm fine being alone, we could do the duet another day'' replied May, nodding to her. Right after she answered, she ripped off a page of her journal.
, "Here, keep this, I have another copy" said Katrina, holing out to May a page of her journal with piano notes. She was sure that it was the duet, and she picked it up and said thank you. She looked how her new friend runned out of the rehearsal room.
Now, May was all alone in this big rehearsal room. She put her hands on the piano. She took out the sheet first. She looked at it, and begun to play. She smiled while she played the beautiful duet...alone.
Could it be? May didn't like to be alone anymore. She felt much more comfort on others.
After all, she had made a new friend. She waited 30 minutes in silence. When it was time to go to the Great Hall, she packed up her things and went. It was a beautiful day after all.

May has left and closed the thread.
