Robert was probably bananas for going to the Costume Party instead of spending his Friday night doing what he normally would, studying, reading random textbooks, and doing homework a week in advance. Especially this Friday, with his first ever duel only a couple days away, the young Ravenclaw should have been studying up even more on past famous duels and strategies, or practicing his spells. However, a couple of days ago during breakfast he had received a surprise owl from home, bearing the costume he was currently wearing along with a note saying, "We weren't sure if they celebrated Halloween at Hogwarts, but if they don't the time is ripe to start a new tradition! From your dearest Mama and Papaya." Especially since he knew some of the planners, Robert couldn't resist peeling off of his normal routine to join the Costume Party.
When he arrived at the Rehearsal Room, he was greeted at the door by Pericles, a Ravenclaw Prefect Robert kept seeming to run into. First at Flourish and Blotts, then at the Pet Pampering Errand that the older boy was running. They were even on the Dueling Team together! The banana cheerily waved to the other Ravenclaw as he walked into the room. "Hey Peri! I have to say, I found the Costume Party a bit more apeeling than the Masquerade Ball." It was a bit of a stretch, but Robert couldn't pass up the chance to slip in a pun wherever he could.
Walking past the greeter, Robert was immediately drawn to the tables in the center of the room that were laden with different types of candies and treats. Unfortunately, the boy did not see the sign hanging above one of them declaring them as "Tricky Treats." Picking a chocoball out of the dish, he was drawn back to the front door by the loud declaration of another Ravenclaw first-year, who Robert didn't recognize. "I’m a Pumpkin Spiced Latte!"
Robert grinned, relieved to find out he was not the only person to show up to the Costume Party dressed as something edible. Walking back to the front door, the boy quickly bit down on the treat in his hand, moving the remainder of it to his left. "Hey, I like the costume! You know, it's really bananas that we both showed up with fruit inspired wardrobes." Try as he might, the Ravenclaw couldn't stop the smile that slowly stretched over his face at his own pun. "I'm Robert," he introduced himself, holding out his newly freed hand.

The Fall Ball (Costume Party)

Valentin was, of course, a bit sad that Mik would apparently not be joining them, but it was par for the course he supposed. Though Valentin had been taking the near-total disbanding of his team hard, he was glad that he could at least still spend time with Yefim. Inspecting the other boy’s costume, Valentin nodded with approval.
«Праздничный и почти традиционный,» ("Festive and almost traditional,") concluded Valentin, who was beginning to feel overdressed. His parents insisted that he look respectable "since you never know who will see you" and "all of life is a performance." Indeed, Valentin's wrock star and orchestra conductor parents were always quite concerned about Valentin's appearance in public. Meanwhile, the sporty rebellious youth was constantly rolling into and out of hospital due to mischief mismanaged and quidditch spectacles. However, for the most part Valentin made efforts to look good at public events, even if there was always something in him that wanted to bend the rules a bit. While his parents would have frowned upon him wearing a costume, Valentin figured he could be subtle enough to pull one off in spite of them. Unintentionally matching Yefim's theme of "round object," Valentin pieced together an outfit in honor of something he was most obsessed with.

Face hidden behind a golden winged mask that matched a baroque gold-and-white suit, Valentin would still have been quite recognizable to anyone who followed sports due to his characteristic shock of silvery-white hair and the albinistic pale skin showing on his long, slender fingers. Around his left wrist hung a new accessory: an actual, closed-up golden snitch on a taut multiply-looped gold chain. Though he would never admit it, especially to Yefim, Valentin was actually trying to emulate what he thought would be one of the most desirable things in the room: a golden snitch.

It seemed that Yefim was eager to tuck into the various treats that surrounded them while, as usual, Valentin was far too concerned with his body weight to indulge in… almost… any treat. Yet, as the warm spice of hot masala chai drifted lazily through the air it immediately captivated Niffler's seeker brain. The fragrance of clove, cinnamon, and a touch of ginger swirling in warm cream might as well have been a love potion made especially for him. Valentin had heard something about a trick or something, but with his poor English language skills he decided that he had not understood properly. Helping himself to a cup of the chai, Valentin strode back up to his companion.
[”Stuff some in your pockets to take to Mik,”] Yefim said. It would not matter that in one hand Valentin carefully held a full cup of hot, hot chai. Yefim had asked for help and suggested the excellent idea of bringing souvenirs back for Mik, who Niffler figured would be bored without them. The surreptitious, experienced thief that Niffler was became happy at these words. He could use one of his finely honed skills for the enjoyment of his friends. Immediately Valentin began to scope out the desserts, not for himself but to discern which targets would be most suitable for solitary Mik. Only after his team was provided for would he start examining the many shinies that were floating about the room.

The Fall Ball (Costume Party)
Interacting with @Kateri Karr & @Pericles DraltThere was something Robyn didn't account for in revealing her secrets that had been inlaid within the soft petals of a rose of a comfort that she didn't want to speak into existence. Her head turned back around to look at the boy standing at the doors dressed like a falcon. He looked quite spectacular but the words that seemed to confidently soar out of his mouth condemned him in Robyn's mind. Clearly not a boy of subtlety. All she could do was narrow her eyes and give him a small nod. She made a note to send Pericles a certain book the next day. When she turned back around to Kateri's voice asking about the flowers she couldn't help but jump slightly at how close that she had gotten. "Ah, it's just... a popular rose I guess." It definitely wasn't. This rose was not at all easy to come by and was very obviously a choice but she just had to hope Kateri would leave it there.
Byn's eyes glanced down at the box Kateri was holding, a thought couldn't help but creep into her head. 'Was this gift sufficient? Was a single flower a gift at all?' She knew that flowers for a date to the dance, albeit a friend, were appropriate so that's what she went with. But she tried to jump into the words to gift it to her, quickly doubling back. "Sorry, I-" They couldn't help but laugh, stumble over each other. They were still learning how to speak. Kateri seemed to be the outspoken one, one to speak what she thought without holding back. Robyn always seemed to go over her words in triplicate, putting them through a vigorous social wringer. With Kateri, the amount of wringers had decreased. Sometimes words starting to stumble out without thinking about them at all. She never faulted her for speaking, or questioned why she was speaking in the first place. Kateri listened, and that was new.
The words, the essay, that she had planned to preface the flower fell away as they stumbled over each other. Instead all that came out was a simple, "May I?" As a slightly shaking hand pulled the flower out of her pocket and moved to tuck it gently behind her ear. "A rose suited for the occasion, is it not?" The words unspoken of, 'I'm only here because you make me feel more comfortable' left unspoken through the secret language of flowers. To Kateri, hopefully, it was just a spooky red and white rose.
Robyn easily moved when Kateri ushered her to the side, looking around briefly to see if she had missed something or someone coming besides the students pouring into the area. Her attention was grabbed back when Kateri asked her to close her eyes. "C-Close my eyes?" The smile on her face, one of the bright stars that she studied was one that wouldn't be refused. Slowly, she closed her eyes trusting the woman in front of her not to suddenly leave or pull a cruel joke on her. It was far too early in the night for the tricks to begin. Her hands were gently pulled to lay flat, and something was placed in them. Robyn assumed it was the package she had briefly spotted earlier. "Can I open them?" Once Kateri gave her permission, they fluttered open landing on the small and precious box, tied neatly with a black ribbon.
She was always one where during Yule she would be the most infuriating person to open gifts with as she opened them so carefully, making sure to keep the paper and the ribbons as pristine as possible. This was no different. She gently undid the bow, tucking it into one of the regular side pockets on the overcoat. Nimble fingers deftly undid the paper as gently as possible before revealing the actual box. There was a hesitation before she uncapped the gift, glancing back up at Kateri for a moment. As if the gift could explode, she took the lid off revealing a familiar set of cufflinks. "Kateri... I..." The keeper of words, was speechless. Inside the box were a set of owl cufflinks with topaz eyes, that actually blinked every now and again. They were all too familiar. A set of cufflinks that Robyn decided not to get the day they went clothes shopping for the ball. She couldn't justify getting them for herself, despite how much she adored owls and how much they looked like her owl Artemis.
It was the most kind and thoughtful gift anyone had given to her. Her head stayed down, unable to look up as she attempted to blink back tears of emotions that she had never felt. She only dared to look back up after she felt they were sufficiently hidden. "Kateri, I don't know what to say I just... Thank you." She gestured to Kat to hold the box as she removed the cufflinks that she had already been wearing. Replacing them in the box and attempting to put the owls on. After just a moment of struggle with the shaking hands of the realization of having a friend that seemed to understand her she quietly asked. "Can... can you help me?" Kateri gave her a gentle "Absolutely." Robyn couldn't help but gaze at her as she helped. Their initial meeting in the Great Hall left her running back to the library, yet she was now the person slowly pulling Byn out of her comfortable sanctuary. There was a sense of luckiness that overcame her in meeting Kateri and becoming her friend.
Once the cufflinks were properly secured, the box tucked away with the paper folded inside, and the ribbon stashed securely in it as well (to make a bookmark later, of course), Robyn took a deep breath and stood up tall. "Shall we finally join the students then?" As the great gentleman that she was, she offered Kateri her elbow which she rested her hand on. Before leading them into what would hopefully be a joyous rest of the night.Permission to godmod Kateri given, with dialogue provided.Outfit Reference

The Fall Ball (Costume Party)
Sure, he would go to the Ball with Dan as a FRIEND - Andrew had made sure to stress that bit, when Dan first asked him to be his "date". Girl or boy, Andrew had no preference, and the concept of "feelings" and puppy love was just…weird and foreign to him. He understood what it was all about, but thus far, it was all sympathy, no empathy from him, when talking to Dan about it. So long as intentions were still pure and platonic, Andrew had no qualms with embracing the bromance and putting on an act to tease the Dandy shippers, but Dan was…a little more sensitive in the romantic department. Like any caring best friend would, Andrew didn't want to do anything that would be detrimental to Dan's well-being. He wanted to help Dan recover. If it meant staying best friends and going as Dan's date to the Ball, then so be it. If it meant cutting off all ties and distancing himself from Dan to put an end to romantic fantasies, then Andrew was also willing to make that sacrifice. For the greater good, though he tried not to think about that too hard. Dan was the only best friend he had at Hogwarts, ever since first year, and that alone made their friendship bond special, something Andrew was loyally committed to maintaining. He couldn't imagine parting with it. Merlin forbid.
But now that the long-awaited Ball was here, Andrew's mind was fixated on the festivities, giddy with excitement to spend some fun time partying.
A long-sleeved, collared black shirt, black trousers, and black dress shoes made up his attire for the night, along with a black mask and knee-length cape (to prevent others stepping on and tripping himself on it). Though there were no giveaway logos printed on his outfit, those familiar with Muggle references would recognize the iconic figure he aimed to appear as. Andrew loved his Batman costume and had no shame about donning it on every year, since he was eight. He wasn't even into superheroes, but something about the Gothic darkness of the mask and uniform captured the Halloween spirit perfectly, because…bats! Even Batman patterned his costume after a bat, and bats were Halloween symbols, so…what was the difference between a Batman and a bat costume? Either way, the costume reminded him of home, and Andrew wasn't about to forsake tradition in honor of his Muggle roots. There was a twinge of longing and sadness that he wouldn't be able to go trick-or-treating with his siblings, wishing he could see what his family would be doing for Halloween. But shaking those thoughts aside, he'd look to the bright side. Now was the time for him to spend time with and enjoy his Hogwarts friends!
Leaving his pet rat Penelope behind in the dorm room, Andrew would accompany Dan out and make his way up to the fourth floor, debating with Dan about which room to enter first.
"I think the Masquerade might be more…boring. It's all just dance anyway, right?" Andrew would pause outside the Ballroom, peeking his head inside to see if anything entertaining was going on. Nothing struck his appeal to stick around. "I say, let's get to the fun first!" With that, Andrew would speed on over to the Rehearsal room, walking through the doorway in full confident stride.
"Now this is more like it!" He perked up, eyeing the treat table right away. After the Chocoball incident from last Valentine's, there was some lingering trauma in that Andrew had avoided touching Chocoballs for the next few months out of superstition. Of course, why wouldn't he trust his best friend's word that Dan would never do such a thing again? Fool me twice, shame on me…
"Tricky Treats, huh?" He read the sign (heeding Pericles' words) and hesitated a moment. "Hmm, hope there's no love potion in 'em." He shot a knowing glance and side smirk at Dan. Eventually, Chocoballs did make a comeback into Andrew diet, and wasn't about to be dissuaded now as he reached for one of them and finished it off in a couple of bites, followed with a cauldron cake (pumpkin wasn't his favorite flavor, so he skipped the pumpkin pasties) and a cup of Butterbeer.
"Hey, Pericles!" Andrew would call out to the Ravenclaw Prefect (only knowing who it was beneath the white falcon mask, since @Pericles Dralt had greeted him at the doorway), holding up one of the wizard crackers. "Can we open as many of these as we like, or is it only one per person?" He didn't know what the allotted amount was, and he certainly wasn't greedy, but no sense in letting unopened wizard crackers go to waste, if there were extras to spare.
After harvesting the contents of his wizard cracker, Andrew's interest would turn to the pumpkin carving station. "Hey, wanna do pumpkin carving?" He'd nudge Dan. "Have you done it? I've made a few at home before, though one time I did cut my finger n' I fainted," he admitted with a shudder and a chuckle, realizing how unmanly that sounded. "It wasn't even a deep cut," he tried to explain in bewilderment. "But my brain just saw the blood when I washing it in the bathroom and I don't know why but I fainted. Heh, good thing I didn't bust my head open on the tile."
He would wade into the pumpkin patch, literally picking up and weighing his selection before settling on one of the smaller pumpkins, a little less intimidating for him to work with, not quite so confident in his art skills himself. Placing his pumpkin on one of the haybales, using the surface as a table, Andrew would begin carving out the lid of his pumpkin for the de-gutting and de-seeding process. Noticing a girl (@Lea Hirsch) nearby, Andrew would beam a friendly smile at her.
"Hi, you doing a pumpkin too?" He'd greet, followed by random small talk. "Know what you're gonna name yours? I'm calling mine Pumpernickel." If Dan was also partaking in carving, Andrew would be opening the silly question to him too.

The Fall Ball (Costume Party)
Medea was very nervous. Her first Hogwarts year had started less than two months prior, and she still had a bit of trouble making friends, so when she heard about the Fall Costume Party she thought right away that it could be the perfect occasion to make friends… or a terribly awkward situation altogether. But she knew she couldn’t keep hiding in the library and in her common room between lessons, she had to meet someone! And so, she had put all of herself into crafting a cute Halloween costume. Nothing too much of course, but she wanted to have fun!Free for interactions with everyone!
Very determined to go as a black cat, she found a cute black jumpsuit and then crafted black years and tail with some fabric she had laying around. Simple whiskers on her face… and the job was done. She knew it wasn’t the most spectacular costume ever… but it was a costume, and she was feeling very cute. Maybe someone else would have found her cute as well. Now it was go time.
She had heard many of her housemates talking about their amazing ballgowns for the masquerade, but she considered something like that as a “grown-up party”, and she just wanted to have fun, carve a pumpkin and meet other kids, without the need to be glam at all. Moreover, gowns and heels were so uncomfortable, how could people endure wearing those all night, and have fun at the same time? That was a mystery to her.
Finally, while will nervous for the event, she managed to find the Rehearsal Room in the 4th floor. The doors were open and there were many people walking to and from the room. From inside, she could see many colours, smell many delicious things and hear many voices. She entered, her head going left and right, looking at that marvellous room. It was her first time in the Rehearsal room and decorated for Halloween it was amazing. There were foods, drinks, tricks and a pumpkin carving station, and so many people around, with very cool and funny costumes.
She decided to hit for the food table first, so many she could use that as a bait to start a conversation with someone. She found a cauldron cake and decided to try that, it looked delicious, and smelled even better.
Looking around, she found herself close to a group of people but was still feeling too shy to approach them first. “Maybe I should find someone else who came here alone and say hello?” she thought.

Theodore was an unorganized mess. Somehow everything turned out wrong to begin with.Mentioning @Evelynn Decipio as Greta Fransson
First the young Thunderbird had been running up and down nervously in the Hogwarts' boys lavatory. Hundreds of unknown familiar around him he truly started to feel like an outlander in this place, despite his excitement. He didn't belong here, he was merely a tourist mixing with the locals, trying to fit in.
Not that this sudden flash of anxiety wouldn't cause him to pull out of this event, not in a lifetime. A ball! And he could find the courage to ask out a Durmstrang girl who he barely knew and who's language he didn't speak, so he would definitely not let her wait either.
Looking at the mirror, he felt excited and unsure at the same time.
The outfit OOC: How do you call this coat thing, I googled myself to death unsuccessfully! looked quite alright on him, fitting the vampire theme he was going with.
Theo had never shown a lot of interest in girls. Sure, two of his housemates he considered friends, were girls and yes, of course he wasn't blind to attractive human beings, but he never cared about relationships and romances and such. They were simply friends.
Greta was fascinating somehow. The language and... well, she seemed to be from a whole different world. He appreciated his comrades in Ilvermorny, but this was just different.
He couldn't call Greta a friend really, for that they didn't know each other long enough. Also, what did he know about her?
Still, if he got the chance, he would try to change that.
His entrance to the ball was a disaster. Theo hadn't even noticed that he entered the wrong location, but suddenly he had been surrounded by fancy looking kids with masks. They were wearing masks. Suddenly Theo felt very ridiculous with his fake vampire teeth and the make up.
Luckily he was ten minutes early, so he had time to get back to the bathroom and wash it off. And he managed to organize himself a mask, luckily one of his dormmates brought two.
So he came back and finally realized that he was not in the rehearsal room. Why on earth would there be two parties? It was so confusing...
When he finally made his way to the Rehearsal Room, he was late. Only three minutes, but still., he had tried so hard to be on time...
Well, time to find his date then.

Having forgotten to prepare a suitable costume for the party, and being forgetful always a part of his plans, the lad had spent all afternoon adhering pipe cleaners and tissue paper to one of his favorite green sweaters. His sweater was going to be totally ruined as a result of his arts and crafts project, but the pay off would be clearly worth it when he posed with Minerva. A saguaro cactus was the only thing he could think of with the time he had left, but being able to take Minerva with him to the party would make him feel a whole lot more at ease.
Donning the prick pinned sweater, and inviting Minerva to join him by outstretching his arm as one would offer at a formal dance, Sylvain made his way to the rehearsal room. Of course not before one last check to ensure he had everything he needed. Wand, shoes, extra pair of socks, satchel, Minerva... "OH!" he exclaimed aloud to nobody but himself before turning back to his trunk of treats. The lad then refilled his satchel with chocolate frogs. Far too many for such a short event. That was the best he could do, prepare for whatever journey the night offered, and bring lots of chocolate.
As he arrived to the party, Sylvain quickly took note of the mountain of chocoballs. That and the sight of Pericles watching the door like a falcon. Presumably he was there to make sure none of the other students wandered off with a treat or a trick unintended for the rest of the castle. A noble endeavor, and a responsible one. He thought it best to offer his support to Pericles in that moment, at the very least he could offer to help keep an eye out for trouble.
"Hey Peri," he said realizing the prefect was likely to go without much in the way of thanks for his efforts tonight, including those to come. "Thanks for everything." A slight, knowing smile would creep across his face as he gave thanks.
"I'll be over by there with the tricks..." he added a pause for comedic effect, "Keeping an eye on stuff..." In Syl's mind, there was no doubt he would be eating too much candy tonight, even if it killed him. "I like your costume," he said while fading back into the party, "you look exquisite."
Making his way to the snack table like a bear to a pot of honey, Sylvain passed by a couple he recognized, Willow Anderson and her date Jack Warren. Giving them each a cactus pose greeting and attempting to elicit laughter, he introduced himself. "Hey, you must be Jack Warren, I'm Sylvain" he would smile at Jack and wink reassuringly at Willow. "Nice to finally meet you after hearing so much about you." As Sylvain would move towards the snack table near the two, he would wait beside them quietly as he scanned the room for Remi. Minerva on his shoulder with both of her eyes on Jack and Willow.
He figured he would try a chocoball while he waited for Remi. What had Remi wanted so many chocolate frogs for anyways?

Remi told himself in the hall as he was racing his little behind onto going to the Rehearsal Room. It's been a pretty awesome couple of weeks, of messaging his parents about a costume for the fall dance. Nothing too crazy, however, his parents had the usual pure-blood pride and with that. His 'costume' wasn't a costume but appeared for something for a literal African Ball.
"It's the Dance!"
Wearing a sleek black fabric, or dashiki, with a red strip in the middle of it.
This, however, was something Remi didn't really care about. No-no-no, today! Tonight is going to be real speical. Holding onto a satchel onto his person as he looked around, near the entrance of the party. If anyone who was looking at him, there would be a paper mache gray little elephant hat with tusks coming from his hat.
Though, it appeared to be something moving. No, not the hat but the satchel it was holding. It appeared to, someone inside of it, appeared to be moving inside of the little bag but it couldn't be anything too seriously. Not trying to wave over Syl as he saw him near the food, throwing some little food balls into his mouth.
Walking up to him, in a half-whispered, making very-very sure that no one was either looking at him and say,He said, glancing at bag and back at Syl with a sleek smile, his tonuge peeking out of his smile."I got the thing."

Walking into the rehearsal room was not an un-usual activity for Jo, but since it had been decorated wit bats, pumpkins and so much more Jo thought that the room must have gotten considerable bigger. She had walked into the Rehearsal Room with what might have been called a "date" by Jo, but being 11 years old she would have opted to call it a Friendly interaction with Her best friend (and crush) Riley Arcite.
The only reason Jo and Riley were here but not thee masquerade was because In Jo's opinion Wearing sweaters and Jeans didn't very fit in with the gowns and smockings of Most of the participants. Considering the Looks on the others faces it almost felt like Halloween, one of Jo's favourite holidays, mainly because it was an excuse to stay home and read something. Jo smiled to herself as she looked around the room. Since the Other schools students arrived she expected for Hogwarts to be overflowing with students and action, but it was the opposite to be very true it was more orderly maybe because of all the other adults that arrived?
Jo turned her head to Riley, they hadn't really spoken in a few days, which was a bit on the rare side for them, they liked to spend a lot of time, especially together, but since they were going to the ball and we're AT the ball together Having and conersation wouldn't hurt.
" I really like this place, it seems somewhat cheerful to me"Jo smiled and looked at Riley.

Akari hadn't noticed that Drew snuck up behind her so was pretty surprised when she felt somebody tap her shoulder and she automatically turned her head to see who had done so, but upon seeing no one she had started to look back towards Jess when in her peripheral she saw a figure standing on her other side which caused her to turn and then lock eyes with Drew. Her face changed from slightly startled to a cheerful one right away. She looked up at him with a big smile spread across her face that matched his. When he held out his hand to her she immediately accepted it, happily placing her hand in his. Oh how grown up she had felt in that moment when he had kissed her hand.
Instead of dropping his hand right after she decided to let it linger for a while longer.
She looked at him in his suit, all dressed up and thought he looked really elegant and gentlemanly and wanted to tell him, but didn't really know how to phrase it properly.
He had beat her to it by complimenting her first, which only made her smile all the more radiant.
"Thank you...You too-" Her eyes widened slightly. Why the heck had she said you too?. Well, that was cringeworthy but she quickly swallowed her embarrassment and then continued as she slowly lowered her hand with a nervous chuckle and really hoped he knew that she meant more than what she stammered out "Er- what I meant to say was, you also clean up nicely"
She then tried to distract herself from how she completely failed at playing it "cool" by thinking about her outfit and how it wasn't completely tied together just yet since she was still holding her mask in her hand. She wasn't whether she should put it on right away since it somewhat obstructed her view and she really wanted to take in everything around her so she eventually decided to just put it on once they would make their way over to the Masquerade.
She internally face-palmed herself for forgetting to introduce Jess and Drew so she was happy when Drew took the initiative to do so then added for a more formal introduction "Right, sorry. As he said, Jess this is Drew. He is a student visiting from Ilvermorny. And Drew this is my best friend Jess"
