Gryffindor V Hufflepuff
It was a sticky, suffocating sort of Tuesday Morning, April’s warfare starkly evident in the environment – the ground was soaking, muddy, moist, the soggy, sickeningly green grass squelching beneath the feet of all who happened to tread upon the grounds of Hogwarts on such a dreary afternoon. Light gray clouds pooled in the overhead sky, void of rain, shading the grounds in a dark, shadowy hue, a crisp breeze blowing southward on the grounds, cold enough to send a student into a fit of chills. The air seemed to reek of humidity, the suffocating sort that stuck to your skin and made the air feel considerably hotter than it actually was, a hateful sort of feeling that surely anyone who’d experienced despised. The conditions were certainly less than optimal, not the best for flying – however, such things would do nothing to deter the Quidditch players of Hufflepuff and Gryffindor from facing off against each other.Gryffindor versus Hufflepuff.

This match will be the first and last Unofficial Game of the 2019-2020 season. The purpose of such a game is to [1] allow your second-string players a chance on the field, and to [2] test out a predetermined set of moderation tweaks that should make the game more interesting and fair between team roles.
For those unfamiliar with the site's rules, game threads are for Quidditch Players and the game's moderator only. There will, however, be a spectator thread put up shortly, in which students will be free to spectate to their heart's desire.
Players will have 1 week (unless otherwise declared by their moderator) to post during each round. Failure to post will result in a void move for your character, and missing out on the rewards if your team wins. The word count for each post, unfortunately, cannot be reduced to 50. Rewards for this game will be 5 chocolate frogs per active player.
Mod posts generally take 2-3 days to write up depending on the person moderating [i.e. time, availability]. However, given the new tweaks and your moderator's current availability, moderation may or may not be slower than usual. That being said, please be patient and polite to your moderator.
If you have any questions, feel free to owl or DM myself or your captain via discord.
It was a rematch, and an unofficial one, at that – Gryffindor had been sorely destroyed, wiped out, even, by the Undefeated Hufflepuff Team the last time they’d played against each other, once again stepping off the field with nothing but their own waning resolve to keep them going. A discouraging fact, certainly, but such a loss had been under different circumstances. Both teams had developed new rosters, a healthy dose of brand-new players with raw talent and endless possibility. On top of that, the second strings were sorely underused, a well of opportunity that could prove poisonous or revitalizing for any team. It would certainly be a wild card match – anything could happen.
The playing field was even. Now, it was a battle of wits. Would the Hufflepuff Team retain their undefeated title? Or would the newly-instated Gryffindor resolve burn through the competition?
This thread is now under the moderation control of Evelynn Decipio.

Annie had heard of the Unofficial Quddich Match that would take place today. Their team had discussed some things and it was said that it was a chance for the second string players to have a chance to shine today. She nodded her head approvingly. Some members like Aaron Jones had been waiting for this chance forever. The girl was dressed in her proper gear but instead of heading towards the field she walked over to the bench. It was wooden, just like the broom but it wasn't the same. Annie was experiencing something along the lines of home-sickness but for her broom, and Quddich in general. "Stop wallowing and cheer for your team, give other people the time to shine this time. Also sit back and relax, maybe watching from down here will give you more of a chance to observe the Gryffindor's talents and where the excel.."
Annie, after chatting with her head, sat down on the bench, the feeling of something besides a broom beneath her was weird. She shrugged and cheered on their team mates, some getting to play for the first time. The girl whooped and cheered her team on, a small smile creeping onto her face. "You got this guys, I'll keep the bench warm!" Annie let out a small laugh at her own joke before taking a seat, ready to watch the game unfold before her eyes. This was going to be interesting to say the least.

Ever since he had heard of the skirmish match, Piérre had been so excited to actually prove that he was a useful member of the Gryffindor Quidditch team. Up to this point, the only thing the young, tiny boy had been helpful was sitting on and heating up the bench, watching with widened green eyes as Hugh performed daring action after action, giving it his all to protect the hoops and catching teammates who desperately needed help.
Now it was the Britalian's turn.
Taking a deep breath of April air, Piérre tossed his school broom in front of him, commanding it to enter the air with a flick of his wrist before engaging in a wild run and jump to swing around the wooden shaft like a gymnast. This was artfully performed in order to get the blood and adrenaline rushing through the veins of the young boy, and with a wild whoop, Piérre was already sailing for the Hoops of the Gryffindor side. That Quaffle wasn't going to get anywhere close to passing through! Piérre was gonna block it with everything his scrawny body had to offer. And he certainly wasn't going to be knocked off by a Bludger.
He was ready for everything to go mad. The only thing was... Piérre happened to have a head start.
Because he was already quite crazy as it was.
"LET'S GET THIS SHOW ON THE ROAAAADDD! ROAAAAAAARRRR!" The kid leaned back on his broom, beating his small chest in the most intimidating way he could, which was to say, it was like watching a newborn pup trying to jump on its mom. Truth be told, the boy was ill-equipped to be a Keeper, for he had initially signed up for a Seeker, but with enough effort and tryhard will, Piérre was sure that he would win, for the honor of his scarlet house, the golden '13' on his back glittering with latent goodwill and above all, good luck.

Keen, wide blue eyes brushed over the other players as Kayden Mae took a step onto the field. There was something loose and calm in the young girl's posture, even as her fingers twitched and clenched over the wood of the school broom that rested against her palm. She was excited for the game, of course, and maybe a little nervous, but stepping onto the pitch - even if it was just the training pitch - with teammates and opponents on either side of her was an experience she had longed for for years past. This would be her first game in the gold accented, dark red uniform, and she had strapped her arm and shin guards with careful precision she rarely showed elsewhere. Although she was playing as second string, and this was only a friendly match, she could nearly feel her blood rushing, adrenaline rising in anticipation.
No sooner had she stepped onto the pitch, boots squeaking against mud and wet grass, than her nose crinkled, feeling cold wind dust across her face. The next thing she noticed was that, despite the breeze, warm humidity hung heavy in the air, and, shuddering a little at the thought of how tangled and frizzy her hair would be later, she took her hair down from its ponytail to pile it into a tight, secure bun instead. Still walking, she followed her teammates and took her seat on the bench, grinning widely as Piérre let a wild cheer loose, and propped her broom, handle down and digging into the ground, against her shoulder. She held onto it loosely with one hand, and planted the other firmly against the bench to allow herself something to lean on as she started to inch forward, watching eagerly.ACTION: benched.

May was so happy and exited. After all, it was her first time as a Quiddich player (Even tho it was second-string, it was a very important position).May could only breathe deeply, and positively think that they were going to win again, and shine. It was exiting. Yes, exiting was the word.
May was already going to go the field, but she saw her friend, and Quiddich first-string Chaser, @Annie Morgan. She would like to cheer with an old friend, yes she would.
''Hi Annie! Exiting isn't it?'' May asked. May had cut her hair not so long ago, and wondered if Annie would recognize her. She sat at her side and watched the other players. She wondered how she would do, this time. She liked training, and was fairly good on her broom. But obviously a match was different. It was exiting, interesting, thrilling...
''Go Hufflepuff!'' May shouted. She did like when people cheered at her. Maybe the others would like it like she does...
I wonder how they feel about me in the team. Second-string Seeker is a big job...It would be good to be the best today. She was going to do her best. After all, it wasn't a dream. It was real.

It was somewhat odd, this game. Evelynn had gone nearly a full school year without any proper Quidditch action beyond longingly watching from the stands, or practicing late into the nights many days of the week. It wasn't until March that she had actually attended her first game as a player rather than spectator. And now, less than a month later, a second game. Granted, this was hardly the level of one of the official matches, and certainly would draw only a fraction of the crowd size, if any at all. The fame and call for spectatorship wasn't its purpose, however. What she was most looking forward to was the experience. Practices were one thing, but they couldn't compare to the value of a game against players they with whom they did not regularly practice. It was a benefit all around, as well - not only for the Gryffindor team, but also for the Hufflepuff. With this, she hoped Quidditch at their school could be elevated to new heights.
Eager to get started, Evelynn left the preamble and locker room talk to her more equipped counter-part. D'Spacito was ever the louder-mouthed of the two of them, and with a bigger head than nearly anyone she knew. He served his purpose, though. Few could say he didn't have drive, at least. Plus, it meant that she could save her breath (and her dignity), and focus on that which she did well: strategize from the sidelines. Only...today she wouldn't be on the sidelines. Along with the extra experience of these unofficial interhouse matches came a little change-up: the switching of typical roles, and the encouragement of second string players to find their limelight. Today would be hers. Hopefully. Assuming she didn't get knocked from her broom in the first quarter.
Mounting her broom, she shook that thought away. The match against Slytherin still gave her palpitations. It had been a viciously fought match, but one where she had at least held her own. She aimed to do the same here. Like her mother always said, practice makes perfect, and she would relish the field-time. Plus, Hufflepuffs, while incredible players in their own rights (obviously, given their championship victory) were hardly Slytherin. Although not to be underestimated, they didn't strike the same fear or hesitation. She could focus. She licked her lips, their corners drawing taught into a barely contained smirk. Already, she could feel her pulse quicken, and with it, the adrenaline of anticipation coursing through her. Kicking off, wind whipped at her Quidditch robes, rippling the golden [23] emblazoned upon her back. Weightless, racing a lap around the pitch, she could no longer contain her excitement. Her smile was permitted to bloom. She was here for the chase. For the hunt of the snitch. It was here, free in the skies, that she truly felt a lioness.

Today wasn't exactly ideal Quidditch weather. The skies were a gloomy shade of grey, and there was barely any sun with all the clouds above. The atmosphere was humid and damp- it was the kind of humid that appeared after a rainfall. The grass squelched below her feet as she walked by, and she could already feel her shoes soak up some of the dew from the grass. Chances were the grass already stuck themselves on them by now. But luckily for her and everyone else, they were going to be spending most of the time in the air. She only hoped that flying around and focusing on the game was enough for a distraction from the dreariness that surrounded her.
Thankfully, there was less pressure this time around. The Hufflepuffs had already played against the Gryffindors last game, and this would have served as a rematch and a practice game all rolled in one. But that didn't mean she would go easy on the Lions. This was still a game as any other, and even if there wasn't a crowd of people by the stadium, she wanted to do her best and set an example for the rest of the Badgers.
Hopping on her broom, she flew upwards where her other teammates would have gathered. Taking in the cool breeze, she spun around to face her fellow Badgers. A pep talk might have been over excessive, considering the setting of the game, but it was a good morale boost for the team. But maybe she was overthinking that. "Alright. We got this. Let's do our best out there!" She grinned to the rest of her teammates before focusing back on the field, keeping her hands on the handle of her broom.
It was time.

Serena's hands were slightly shaking as she gripped onto her school broom. It was finally time for her to take flight in her first Quidditch game. While this was only an unofficial game, the first-year wanted to prove to not only her teammates but also to herself that she was worthy of being on the Hufflepuff Quidditch team. Serena took a deep breath in and then exhaled. 'I can do this… I can do this…' she kept repeating in her head.
After listening to her captain's pep-talk, Serena nodded her head and swung her legs over the broom. She took off, up into the air. The sky looked drab and gray. The first-year had been hoping for sunnier weather, but she was always looking on the bright side. At least it wasn't raining. While Serena loved playing Quidditch, trying to toss a Quaffle into the hoops while it was raining … did not sound like fun.
After taking a lap around the training pitch, Serena got into position. Wow, the bench looked a lot smaller from up here. It was strange being up in the sky instead of down there, cheering for her teammates. But she could get used to it.

Atlas's heart was heavily pounding in her chest as she finished putting on her uniform in the locker room. She had just been put on the Hufflepuff team earlier this year but this was her first time actually playing. This was her time to show she belonged on the team and had the talent to stay there but she had never actually played the game before, she had just seen countless games with her parents and only recently started to work on things in practice.
Tightening the straps on her left boot, Atlas grabbed one of the school brooms and made her way out of the tunnel. As she entered the field, her boots sunk in the mud as she looked up at the dreary sky a smile relieving her nerves as she hoped it would rain. Her favorite weather was never bright sunny skies as she felt most relaxed and happy when it was downpouring rain and murky.
Kicking off on her broom, Atlas looked out into the crowd as she noticed some of her housemates she had gotten to know. Puffing her cheeks out, Atlas took a lap around the field as she tried to gain her footing and prepare for the game again. Nothing beat the feeling of the air rushing over her face as she sat on her broom hovering around her teammates.
This was it. She had to give everything she had to show everyone she was a force to be reckoned with on and off the field.
