What is the best part about competing?: Knowing that just because my parents are Muggles doesn't make me any lesser.
If you could play another sport - muggle or wizarding - what would it be?: Dodgeball!
Do you get butterflies before duelling? If so, what do you do to calm the butterflies before competing?: I haven't found out where to buy irritated butterflies. I'll let you know when I find some.
Do you think attitude is a factor in winning? Why or why not?: Of course. You're gonna get hit either way, so you may as well laugh about it.
How do you prepare for a match?: Panic until the match starts, but do it quietly so no-one knows you're panicking.
A short sentence to describe each of the other houses' style of duelling:: To be fair, though we try to pretend all the houses are super different from one another. When it comes to dueling, everyone's always so brutal.
What are some advice you would give to new Gryffindors duelling next season?: Be prepared to get hurt. Be prepared to lose. Never stop laughing, and victory will get to you.

How does being a duellist make you a better person?: Sometimes I think it might make me a worse person, as I may get a bit hot-headed. But overall, of course, it doesn't. I have a taboo over certain spells, which I think should not be used in duelling, so these principles can make someone a better person.
What is one thing you do after a good duel?: Feed Galton.
Who inspires you?: I would say my parents? If you mean someone from professors, then Professor Pendrast absolutely.
Do you think attitude is a factor in winning? Why or why not?: It's not a factor in winning alone, but your whole life. Thinking defines the path for your soul.
Who is your favourite member on the team and why?: My partner, of course. He's much more than you expect and he always surprises me.
A short sentence to describe each of the other houses' style of duelling: Slytherin is daredevil (who knew). Hufflepuff is careful. Ravenclaw is really diverse.

What one word describes you?: Protective
How does being a duellist make you a better person?: Without dueling, I wouldn't have the range of skills and practice to do much of what I tend to do.
What is one thing you do after a good duel?: Drop by the Hospital Wing to check up on my teammates then have some down time
Do you think attitude is a factor in winning? Why or why not?: Perseverance, it takes a lot of follow through to be good at dueling
What do you fear the most during a duel?: Loosing my teammate. I know it's part of the duel but there's something deeply unnerving loosing your teammate then having to face the opponent alone.
A short sentence to describe each of the other houses' style of duelling: Ravenclaw: A lot of taunting and verbal stuff Hufflepuff: Very aggressive but less distracting spells Slytherin: A terrifying combination of distracting and aggressive spells
Do you like to duel for fun, or duel to win?: I don't really see dueling as so much fun as extra practice and preparation, however, winning a duel is pretty great.

What is one thing you do after a good duel?: I will eat an extra portion of dessert!
What do you give up to participate on the Duelling team?: Safety from flipendos. They hurt... a lot.
What are some advice you would give to new Gryffindors duelling next season?: Try to avoid getting hit with any spells. It is counter productive.
What do you fear the most during a duel?: Getting hit with flipendo
How do you prepare for a match?: I only eat half as much sweets the meal before to give me a reason to win

Favourite spell: Flipendo
"n/a"
What is the best part about competing?: Being able to learn sportsmanship. It's always nice to be able to go to the other team and tell one another you've done a good job.
What qualities make a teammate a good teammate?: Someone who encourages you to try your best. They should be able to help you acknowledge where you need to improve but in a nice way. Just support, yeah that sound right. Support.
How does being a duellist make you a better person?: Seeing the result of my spells makes me consider the impact of them. I think it helps me figure out carefully how I should be using them and when. I don't want to inflict pain on other's. Also being a part of a team is fun, there's a lot that goes into it to make a team work. It helps you shape up by a lot.
What is one thing you do after a good duel?: Usually after I make sure I'm okay I check up on the other time. It's nice to be able to have no hard feelings afterwards.
Who inspires you?: It's silly, but often times the other team. Their trying their best and often showing a lot of hard work and dedication. Especially one Ravenclaw boy, his evasive skills were amazing. I want to improve like him, and have more strategy.
What do you fear the most during a duel?: I don't like hurting people. I duel to improve my skill, and recently I've started to worry about going to far. I fear for my team winning but the other team's health and safety always feels significant. Even if there is someone to watch over.
Do you think attitude is a factor in winning? Why or why not?: It can be, I think having assurance is important. Knowing you have the ability to do it and that you can. It's helped a lot in my most recent duel and I've seen it out of other people.

What qualities make a teammate a good teammate?: "Flexibility, patience, skill, determination."
How does being a duellist make you a better person?: "Well... that depends what you mean by "better person". If you're just talking about how nice you are, then it doesn't at all. If you're talking about how talented you are- it's like any other sport. The more you practice, the better you become."
If you could play another sport - muggle or wizarding - what would it be?: "In the muggle world we have something called video games, which are basically moving paintings who's characters you can control- there are sports centered around that, which I'd love to try out. Doubt I'll ever be good enough, though."

LETTER FROM THE CAPTAINS
The end of the year marks the closing of another quidditch chapter. This year, we pulled ourselves from the ground and built up a solid and formidable team. I think I can speak for the Captain as well as myself when I say that it has been an honor to serve Gryffindor's Quidditch Team as its captains. Gryffindor got off to a rough start last year, losing our matches against Hufflepuff and then Ravenclaw. Later, we experienced the loss of our tenured captain, DeRook, as well as nearly a complete turnover — and then some for certain positions — of the team.

By the time the New Year began, already nearly half-way into the season, the team was basically starting all over again; and in a sport such as Quidditch where teamwork and experience are paramount, we were at a severe disadvantage. This was again the case at the start of this year when only four of the members that had concluded last season remained the same. Not only that, but compared to the other teams, we had an unprecedented number of first year and novice players. And yet, against all odds, we have pulled through. We even managed to scrape a win against Slytherin in at the end of last year and carried that momentum forward into a new season of unprecedented domination. In my eyes, the win against Slytherin at the end of last year marked the path of where we would be going from there, and now, at the conclusion of this year, I can confidently say that my belief was not misplaced.

This, of course, would not have been possible were it not for the members making up our team. From the experienced players who graciously accepted the appointments of their new captains, to the new members who took training and practices to heart, everyone played phenomenally. While we might have had a shaky start, we fell into stride by the end. It's with this same sense of determination and diligence that I would ask every one of you to maintain as we look forward to next year. Although we are in a much better situation going into next year than we were at the start of this one, we are still by no means as established or practiced as any of the other teams. So, right from the start, we're going to have to work for it.

So what can you expect to see in the new season? First off, of course, there will be the try-outs that we will be holding early in September before the season has properly kicked off. We want to get a head start with preparation. Naturally, while we improved the consistency of our practices dramatically this year, we will be continuing to work to implement even more structured and productive routines. In addition to regular team practices, every member will also receive a personalized training regimen. Practices will also take on a new look. Although drills and focused technical practice will be emphasized, there will also be other activities: 3-on-3 Quidditch minigames as well as chances to play Shuntbump, Quidpod, and broom-mounted games.

As you can see, there are a lot of plans to revitalize the Quidditch scene. So, for those of you already on the team, rest up over the summer and come prepared. For those of you looking to join the team and prove yourself in the try-outs, bring your A-game! We'll see you on the pitch!

"When in the showers, don't leave your spare clothes with the boys. You won't get them back"
What are three reasons you like being part of a team sport?: [1] I like talking to people. Playing alone is really boring. [2] I find it more relaxing and enjoyable when you have other people to rely on as much as yourself in a sports setting. [3] I think it's good for learning how to navigate the real world.
What qualities make a teammate a good teammate?: Professionalism is important. Even if a player messes up repeatedly, as long as they're willing to pick themselves up and keep trying, they're a good teammate in my eyes. Also, those who keep their problems and opinions to themselves on pitch are valued.
If you could play another sport - muggle or wizarding - what would it be?: Definitely football [soccer]. It was my sport before Quidditch and it will always hold a special place in my heart.
Who inspires you as a young athlete?: You're going to laugh! I've always enjoyed following Lionel Messi. He's brought a lot of pride to my country. Someday I wish to have skills unparalleled such as his.
What are some advice you would give to new Gryffindors playing next season?: Don't be afraid to give it your all. It's always intimidating to play in front of a big crowd, but internalizing it overly isn't going to help you at all. The truth of the matter is, if you've made the team, you've obviously been picked out or noticed for your exceptional skill. Keep pushing - it's not over until it's over!
Name one quidditch player (can be from any house) you wish you could be and why?: I think my answer would be Erin Ryan. She's honestly an incredible beater - I can't help but wonder how she became the player she is today.
Anything you wish to tell your captain or co-captain?: Dear Evelynn: Don't be so fucking annoying. Thanks, that's all.

What one word describes you?: Relentless
What do you give up to play Quidditch?: I think the biggest thing that I give up is time. There's only so much time in a day, and I'm involved in a lot of things. To play Quidditch means I have less time to study, less time to work on articles for the Headliner, less time to do research about everything that's been going on with Potter and everything else going on around the school, less time for everything else... But you figure it out and make time for what's important to you. So I've been managing alright, I think.
Where you think there can be improvement on in the team/during games?: Without going into specifics, I think that there can always be improvements made with communication on and off the pitch, as well as displays of respect. Besides that, I think the Gryffindor Quidditch team could benefit from more practices and better strategising.
What do you fear the most during the game?: I think what I fear most is finding myself defeated in an area where I can't improve. I can work to dodge bludgers. I can study opponents to predict their strategies and actions. I can learn to pull off risky dives and work to fly faster, or work to afford a broom that lets me fly faster. I can practice ignoring distraction or spotting the snitch in various settings. I can't think of anything that might happen that I wouldn't be able to fix, but I'm scared of coming face to face with such a wall.
A short sentence to describe each of the other houses' game play.: Slytherin is like an explosion; they hit hard and fast and don't care about the collateral. It's more like a game of shuntbumps than Quidditch when you're playing against them. Hufflepuff is almost surgical; you can tell they've honed their practice carefully and make precise plays to grasp victory quickly. Ravenclaw still seems to be finding their wings and figuring out their strategy, but I have a feeling they will punish any who underestimate them next season.
Name one quidditch player (can be from any house) you wish you could be and why?: I wouldn't want to be anyone other than myself. I'm more than enough for myself, and would rather put the work in to see myself improve and get better and have that sense of satisfaction in my own hard work than to have it handed to me. But I will say that I still find myself inspired by Serena Towers.
What is one thing you do after a good game?: Take notes. Good or bad, it's always the same. There's learning opportunities and chances to improve with every game. I take a look at what we did well, and where we went wrong. Where the opponents did well and where they fumbled. We can't assume they're not going to work on fixing their mistakes, so we have to make sure we do all that much more to stay ahead of the curve.

How old were you when you first started to play Quidditch?: I mean, I caught my first snitch when I was 8 or 9. It was a rogue one and it didn't want to be held. That's how I got these little scars on my palms: from its crazy flapping wings!
What one word describes you?: Effervescent
What do you fear the most during the game?: Hitting the ground too hard. I'm quick, but none too sturdy. I'm scared I'll shatter on impact. I've been lucky so far.
Anything you wish to tell your captain or co-captain?: You two need to hook up.

"That's wicked!"
A short sentence to describe each of the other houses' game play.: Slytherin: Brutal, Hufflepuff: Scary, Ravenclaw: Creative
Who is your favourite member on the team and why?: Scarlett! She is the best Beater partner I could ever ask for. We always work so well together as a team. Truly talented and fierce!
Do you get butterflies before playing? If so, what do you do to calm the butterflies before competing?: First time, yes. But now, not anymore because the key to not be too nervous is to remember that you're not alone and your teammates will always be there to support you.
What are three reasons you like being part of a team sport?: 1) I'm more of a team player, 2) It's more fun playing on a team and practice together, 3) Able to celebrate a victory party with teammates and not ever being alone
Where you think there can be improvement on in the team/during games?: Maybe let our Keeper guard our posts often in the game? Cause you know...isn't that a Keeper's main job?
Name one quidditch player (can be from any house) you wish you could be and why?: Funny enough, I would like to be as strong as Erin Ryan, the most notorious but ruthless Slytherin Beater. Her power is really admirable, and I hope I strike a powerful Bludger like her one day.
What do you fear the most during the game?: Getting hit or witness teammates being attack by a stronger Beater.

What is the best part about competing?: The sheer euphoria when you win after months of tough training. Either when you land on the ground with the crowd (or at least your house) cheering OR when you're awakened in the hospital wing with the good news.
If you could play another sport - muggle or wizarding - what would it be?: Probably 'American Football' though it isn't really proper football. I would love to wear those massive shoulder pads and a big metal helmet.
Who inspires you as a young athlete?: Gwenog Jones, my QUEEN. She was the Captain (and Beater!) of the Holyhead Harpies, the first all-female Quidditch team. Though I do appreciate all of my teammates, regardless of gender, you have to admit that Gwenog is a badass.
What one word describes you?: Perfection.
What do you give up to play Quidditch?: My dignity. Just kidding though! (or am I) You see, falling off a broom and faceplanting on the ground unconscious isn't very dignified. Then again, neither is being hit with a multitude of hexes and jinxes in duelling.
Who is your favourite member on the team and why?: Not a very nice question if no one sees their name, is it? But I would have to say Anastasia Beckett. Totally.
What do you fear the most during the game?: Obviously the Bludgers hitting you until you fall unconscious and tumble off your broom. For those of you who haven't experienced it, metal balls HURT. But other than that, not much to be honest.

How does being an athlete make you a better person?: Focus on my strength and stamina, get stronger and more skilled. Lets me have people around me who dont fear or just hate me outright, and lets me work on bettering myself.
What one word describes you?: Unyielding
Who inspires you as a young athlete?: Darren O'Hare, Keeper and former captain of the Kenmare Kestrels. One of the best Keepers the league has ever seen, a strong leader, and a hard player. A legendary quidditch player.
Who is your favourite member on the team and why?: Myself obviously. Strong, determined, and never back down from anyone or anything.
What do you fear the most during the game?: Being unable to help or protect my team and watch everything fall apart.
A short sentence to describe each of the other houses' game play.: Hufflepuff hides behind their giant. Throws his weight around and causes trouble while the rest of the team is mediocre at best. Ravenclaw are clever, but not much else. They may know plays or how things work but they get lost in the execution. Slytherin are our biggest threat, Strong beaters and very skilled team across the board. never give them an inch or they will take a mile and make you pay every bit of the way.
How do you prepare for a game?: Listen to muggle punk music, and box. Build up strength and stamina and get pumped.

How old were you when you first started to play Quidditch?: About five. I've been flying about since I could walk and playing Quidditch since there were other people flying around me.
What one word describes you?: Intense
What do you give up to play Quidditch?: A great deal of sleep and free time, but I believe it's entirely worth it
Do you think attitude is a factor in winning? Why or why not?: Most definitely! A player's skill is irrelevant if their attitude and mind are not in the right place. Obviously, there are other more important factors but attitude is the foundation for everything else
Do you like to play for fun, or play to win?: Obviously, I play to win. Where's the fun in being a loser?
What are your thoughts on blatching and other foul moves?: While I do not see blatching as a first resort, the fact of the matter is it's a tool that nearly all of the the teams use and an effective one at that. I would also argue that having to take a penalty lap for doing something that is becoming more and more common in the sport is rather silly and blatching ought to be completely legal. Other fouls are far less respectable and I'm not overly fond of any of them.

What qualities make a teammate a good teammate?: Reliability and Trust! A lot of this game is about the faith you put into others to do their part and if you see someone who got knocked off their broom it should be a first priority to save them if possible. This team is family in a way and you should have each other's back, it's a team sport after all!
Do you think attitude is a factor in winning? Why or why not?: Of course it is! A lot of success is based on your attitude, so if you believe in your success it's much more likely to occur! Wasn't there a potion that proves this?
What are some advice you would give to new Gryffindors playing next season?: Just keep at it and don't let anyone convince you otherwise. And even if the game is exciting, don't become too risky with your moves as that could cost you the season or make you get seriously hurt by pulling a stunt. Play it safe!
A short sentence to describe each of the other houses' game play.: "Slytherin knows their strengths and uses it to hit with some dangerous bludger attempts... ", "Hufflepuff are surprisingly ruthless and aggressive in their playstyle!", "Ravenclaw has a lot of great players, but last time we played them we gained the upper hand quite fast!"
How do you prepare for a game?: We practice a lot either as team, in pairs or solo. I usually try to keep in shape even it's a long time until the next season. Even before joining the Quidditch team at the captain's request, I made sure to go for regular runs. Expect a lot of physical activity when you are interested in joining the team!
Do you like to play for fun, or play to win?: While I am determined to win once I mount the broom and the game starts, I feel like it's about fun and an experience in the end. Winning alone doesn't make you happy, knowing that you did your best to achieve this victory with your team does.
What are your thoughts on blatching and other foul moves?: I don't think they are necessary to win, even if your opponent is heavy on their usage you shouldn't follow their example. People can get seriously hurt pulling some of those off. I'd rather know I won the game by playing fair. But I think being so extremely against it is rare. So you do you, as long as you are careful and make sure no one gets hurt...

What qualities make a teammate a good teammate?: Support, honesty, team spirit
Do you think attitude is a factor in winning? Why or why not?: You bet! Never start with a bad and negative attitude. I am convinced that it strongly influences your performance. If I am full of enthusiasm and energy and "know" we are going to win, then I will play much more confidently and be more likely to win.
What do you fear the most during the game?: Failure and letting my team down.
Do you like to play for fun, or play to win?: Both. For me it is important to have fun BUT it makes even more fun if you also win. And why playing if you don't even want to win?
What are your thoughts on blatching and other foul moves?: You messed with the wrong ones!
