Friends, Finally
Katrina sauntered into the library yawning uncontrollably. She had about two hours until breakfast. The only reason she was up early was because she had arranged a meeting with them. Well, she couldn’t consider them friends yet, they had only just met. They were still acquaintances. She was usually more reserved, but she needed to make friends before the end of the year.
Katrina strolled over to her favorite section, it was on dragons. She had always been fascinated by them. Uncontrollable power, yet they sometimes trusted humans. She would still rather have a pet cat. Her new friend Millie had a cat named Honey, it made her want for a cat even more. She chose a book titled “Adventures with Dragons” and pulled it out of the shelf.
She found a quiet corner, well the whole library was quiet for no one was there yet. Opening the giant book she found herself immersed in fantastic tales about dragons. The smell of an old book caressed her like a hug from a best friend. Time became non-existent as she continued to read. She had always been a voracious reader, 700 page books left alone with her could be read in hours. Soon she glanced at her watch, only an hour before breakfast. Already 172 pages in with only 372 left.
She hoped the other Gryffindors would arrive soon. A lone Hufflepuff entered the library with a scowl on his face, he disappeared onto the second floor. Besides him, there was no one else in the library.
Katrina rummaged through her sack for a bookmark. She had her wand, a couple of coins, her potionology book, a few pages full of notes, and at last- her bookmark. She stuffed it deep into the book, if the girls hadn’t arrived by the time she reached that page, she would leave the library and go to breakfast.
She sat with her back against the wall and continued to read.

Friends, Finally
Alyssa wondered into the Library. It was early morning, breakfast would not start for an hour or so. She smiled as she thought about the night before, her silly stumble gained her companionship. She pulled her cloak closer to her body. It was a coolish morning today.
She looked around searching for Katrina, a smile formed on her face as she walked over to where she was sitting. She had a gigantic book in front of her, she seemed lost in its' pages. Alyssa placed her bag on the floor next to the seat that she was about to take.
"Good morning, Katrina! I hope you had a lovely nights rest." She lowered herself into the chair, taking her bag and placing it on her lap, she took out a book on Hogwarts history. It was for a bit of light reading, just before classes start. She opened at her bookmark. She had been busy with the section on the Forbidden Forest. She was busy learning about the different creatures that lived within it. It was always an interesting read.
She looked up after a while wondering whether they would receive more company. She had seen the Hufflepuff student but he did not seem in a very chatty mood.

Katrina looked up as Alyssa settled down beside her. Katrina greeted her and went back to the book. She saw the book Alyssa was holding was one on the History of Hogwarts. A glimpse at the page told Katrina that she was reading a section on the Forbidden Forest.
She felt so relieved that Alyssa had shown up. It was too bad the year was coming to an end. Maybe they could do some gardening on an errand; if she was staying at Hogwarts this summer. I heard there were some opportunities to earn money and house points that way. Katrina sat looking at the page, but not really reading it. She wondered if Alyssa would want to sit by her on the train next year. Katrina decided she would wait to find Alyssa next year.
Katrina went back to reading for a while and got through a few chapters.
Katrina spoke up and addressed Alyssa, “We should pack together. I mean we only have 4 days left before we all go home. I’m really sad to leave this amazing place, I’m not able to leave but everyone else will. I think it will feel like leaving this place without everyone here I mean.”

Friends, Finally
Alyssa looked up from her book, a frown formed on her forehead. She had not thought about it. Leaving...she does not want to leave. She tilted her head to the side. "I won't be leaving for the summer." She said softly, a sad smile forming on her lips.
"My mother..." Alyssa trailed off. She was not sure if she should share this with her new friend. It was not like she would share their deepest darkest secrets. But that was how friendships worked right? She wondered she had never really had someone like Katrina to talk to. Her brothers did not count, they were family, the had to talk to her. A sigh escaped her lips as she settled placing her hand on her lap.
" I received a letter from my mother, she was not happy that I have placed in Gryffindor. She does not want me home." She bit her lip, regretting sharing such nonsense with someone she barely knew. She sighed as she thought of the awful way in which her mother blamed her for being placed in the wrong house, she was convinced that she made the sorting hat place her in a different house. She shook her head as she closed her book, she knew the words would not comfort her.
