Soul- No, Wandmates!

Opeila was behind on homework. When did that happen to her last time? It had to be ages, the Slytherin had taken great care not to fall behind. Her grades were not as good as they were in the beginning of her second year, but that was alright with her. She rather accepted not to get as perfect grades than to fall back into a depressive hole like she had in her first months back. Things were getting better. She was feeling better and even her cat, Loras, was behaving a lot better. So much, that she had dared to take him into the library with her today.
The young Slytherin was sitting at a table, bent over a book and a piece of parchment, the tip of the big peacock quill- a birthday gift from her friend Sylvain- gently rocking from one site to the other while she was writing. It was a beautiful quill that the second year treated with the greatest care and if it wasn't for the ink on the sharp end, one could have thought that it was still brand new.
Her wand, a dark piece of wood that seemed a little too long for a child of her size was lying next to her. Oh, how often had Opeila wished that a different wand had chosen her. If she was a little smaller, she could have probably used it as walking stick. Alright, that was a little exaggerated.
She was quite proud of its components and what they symbolized though. Ash wood, a loyal wand that would never serve anyone as well as it was serving her and snallygaster heartstring. She had looked up what a snallygaster was supposed to be as soon as she went to Hogwarts and soon found out that it was a mix of dragon and bird. She wasn't sure what that meant for her wand. Dragon and bird were both able to fly, so did it symbolize freedom? Opeila had never felt as trapped as she did now. Or... maybe a dilemma? Bird and dragon but at the same time none of them?
Sighing, Opeila ran her fingers through her hair and picked up her wand. Carefully she rolled it between her thumb and index, examining the wood. She hadn't cleaned it for a while, she realized, there were some very visible fingerprints on it.

Nikolai wasn't really sure why he decided to go to the library, of all places. He wasn't one for reading, and felt that doing homework outside of his dormitory proved to be more distracting, no matter how much adults advocated for doing homework in libraries. Maybe he came here so other students would perceive him as smart, or at least have the opportunity to interact with someone. His first year was already almost over and he couldn't seem to make any friends. At this point, even a rival or an enemy would suffice, although, a friend was still preferred.@Opelia Winters
The blond walked from aisle to aisle, letting his fingers gently run over the spines of the books as he passed by. His eyes soon drifted to examine the other students in the library: a dark haired boy who seemed to be a fourth or fifth year reading from a small pile of books he'd collected, a tall girl who also looked to be older scrunching her nose as she seemed to search for a specific book that wasn't where it should be, and lastly, a girl with red hair writing in a book who seemed to be either in his year or the year after. Nikolai grabbed a random book from the aisle he was on and made his way over to the girl who was closer in age with him, desperately trying to think of a conversation starter.
As he got closer, he spotted the wand in the girl's hand and his eyes lit up. Surely both having wands from ash wood was a good starter, he hoped it was at least. "Ash, yeah?" he asked as he took out his own wand to show that his was made with the same wood. "What core? Mine's snallygaster." He paused, "Oh! Sorry. Nikolai Valtersen, by the way, but you can just call me Niko" He introduced himself, extending his right hand and balancing the book and wand in his left, a crooked smile on his lips as he hoped for the best.

The second year had not really expected company today. It was getting warmer already, sometimes Opeila thought that she could already smell the summer when she was outside and many of her peers used the opportunity to study outside, while the young Slytherin had chosen the library. She was still examining the wood of her wand when she heard a voice. A male voice, at least she thought so- in their age it was hard to tell sometimes- and first, Opeila did not even realize that it was directed at her.
It was indeed a boy who approached her, around her age and it took him about three seconds to recognize her wood that her wand was made from- or maybe even a look from far away, if that was the reason he came over. Opeila was impressed. That was indeed a talent and it reminded her of a certain Gryffindor friend who also knew his way with wands and wood in general.
"Oh, er, yes that's right, ash wood.", she confirmed the boy's assumption, who then asked her about the core of her wand. "I- Actually, mine too. That's crazy! Twin wands? Isn't that a sort of... Potter-Voldemort legend?", the second year asked. She had not heard of many wizards and witches who shared not only the same wood but also the same core.
"Opeila, nice to meet you Niko. Not gonna offer you a nickname though, I don't do those." Opeila smiled back. "Sorry... Are you in my house? Slytherin? I'm not sure if I've seen you before..."
