Evening was drawing near, though it was impossible to tell within the stone walls of the ancient castle. Particularly within the library, where there were no windows for light, only candles. Despite this relatively dim light source, the library was well lit, enough for those within it to read without straining their eyes. Of course, not everyone within the libraries walls was reading.
Sitting at a table with a few books around him, all open and forgotten, was Henry. Like usual, he had lost focus on his homework and was tinkering with some odds and ends he had found around the castle. Small pieces of wood and broken quill shafts were being rubber banded together into some odd little contraption. Henry was kind of just putting things together and wasn’t sure where he wanted this to go, but it was definitely better than doing homework. Unfortunately, he would still have to get said homework done, but this felt like better use of his time.
Shifting his position in his seat, his elbow knocked his sealed inkwell to the floor. Thankfully, it landed with a soft thud on his bag and rolled onto the stone floor with a small clink. Leaning over, he picked it up and replaced it on the desk, moving a few books to made room for what he was doing. In the process, one of the books near the edge of the table jumped over the edge, landing with a thud. Pouting at his luck, Henry scooted backward in his chair, legs scraping against old floors, in order to better reach the book. Upon placing it on the table, one rubber band on his contraption, near its limit, finally snapped. The pieces it was holding together clattered across the table, a few landing on the floor. With a groan, Henry let his head down on the table with a slightly painful thud. This whole thing was a mess.
