For the first time in several months, Henry was hyper focused on his homework. Classes were done for the day, but it wasn't time yet for supper, so he was doing homework for once. It was for his Charms class, which was sincerely fascinating to him. He was skimming the pages and drinking in the information. There were so many things about the wizarding world he didn't know, and sometimes his classes sparked his interest. History of Magic was boring, mostly because he had, historically, never been good at focusing in history classes. However, he did occasionally find himself enveloped by the joy of learning about something he knew nothing about. At the moment, it was Charms.
A loud crash sounded from behind him and he jumped. His eyes adjusted to the room around him and his ears adjusted to the silence. While he had been reading, it had almost been as if he were a part of the book, though it wasn't a tale being told, but facts. He blinked against the adjustment to his surroundings and then looked back down at the page. The words were swimming before him and he found his energy and interest draining quickly. He needed something else to do. Glancing around him, he noticed several stacks of books in the immediate vicinity. Knowing he'd get into trouble if he was caught, Henry decided to build a fort.
He had never had access to so many books at once and decided, why not use that to his advantage? He began gathering books and piling them into stacks between two massive shelves. It was a relatively empty section of the library and he hoped it would remain that way. When it finally reached a decent height, he began another tower. Now came the tricky part, how would he add a roof to his fort that would stay in place?

Grace entered the library, desperate for some peace and quiet where she could write yet another letter to her mom. Her arms were full loaded with quills, parchment, and several books.
After scanning the library for empty seats, she noticed a boy stacking books on top of each other. Grace found this quite amusing, and decided to watch the boy. She settled down at a table opposite to the boy and his massive stack of books. Grace took out a roll of parchment, dipped her quill into ink, but she kept watching the boy as he continued to stack the books. The boy finished with one stack and started another one.
Grace had no idea what the boy was trying to do with these stacks of books, so she stayed even after she finished the letter, and pretended to be getting a book from the shelf next to the boy to get a better look at the towers he had created. Afterwards, Grace returned to her table, realizing that she should probably get going. She folded the letter neatly and sealed it inside an envelope. She took one last glance at the nearly-finished fort beside the boy, and exited the library.
However, she returned shortly after sending her owl. Thankfully, the boy was still there, busy stacking yet another tower of books. Grace leaned onto one of the shelves, studying the boy and the towers with intent interest. Finally, she summoned the courage to speak.
"Looking good," Grace commented, pointing to the towers. "I'm Grace," she extended her hand, flashing a smile at the boy --- the first true smile ever since she arrived at Hogwarts.

Quite excited for the holiday break and having something that felt very important to research, Kazuo had made his way to the library with the expectation that it would be empty. Much to his disappointment, that wouldn't entirely be the case however there were very few students around, easy enough to avoid. He made his way to one of his favorite sections, running his fingers lightly, reverently, over the spines of the books as he gazed at the titles. One by one he collected the tomes he thought would be useful, having a solid stack in his arms when he came across a small section that was empty. His eyes narrowed at the abnormality and he clicked his teeth in irritation.
"Tch. 司書は彼らを動かしましたか?(Did the librarian move them?)" He spoke aloud in his native tongue, glancing around at the rest of the shelves. No other section had been displaced. Unfortunately, some of the books he needed had been in that section but he was hesitant to ask the librarian about them. That might lead to awkward questions that he didn't really want to answer.
He took the books he had collected over to a small table beside a rather comfortable chair that he had grown fond of, setting them down with a sigh. If he was lucky, perhaps the books were on the shelving cart? He made his way toward the librarian's desk only to stumble upon the answer to where the missing books had gone. He stared at the tower of books in absolute horror. His gaze flitted to the boy who was using books! BOOKS! To build a tower. A girl leaned against a nearby shelf but rather than be rightfully horrified, she was complimenting him.
"何?阿呆! (What? Fools!)" He sputtered indignantly. He took a deep breath and raised his eyes to the ceiling. "What are you doing? This is a library. Those are books, not building blocks. People might need them, you know. More importantly, you have books I need."
He scanned the tower, pointing to two books in the middle of the tower. "These two."

Paige scanned the shelf of the Hogwarts library. what a lovely day to read. Actually, everyday is a good day to read. Running her hands against the shelves she heard someone talking in a language she barely knew. She only knew because she read about it. She turned the corner to see a girl leaning on a shelf, but she wasn't the one talking. It was a boy, pointing to two books that were in 2 walls of books.
She walked over and gently touched the angry Hufflepuff's arm. Boy,was he tall. "Hey now, I'm sure there are more copies." She held up her two arms. "I mean, I don't blame you. The library is a scared place... but sometimes it's okay to have fun." She smiled at the boy before walking over to the boy who started the commotion. He looked puzzled. Paige walked over to his tower. "It looks good. Maybe for the roof you could use a blanket then add another layer of books on the walls to hold it?" Paige said, in a kind voice. She didn't want anyone here to be mad at her. She turned to the girl and shrugged, with a slight smile.

Grace smiled at the girl who just joined them, and then turned to face the Hufflepuff boy. "It's okay, we could always find more books for this tower," she said, carefully extracting the two books the boy was pointing to. "Oh, and could you sign this card? It's for a muggle friend of mine, it's almost her birthday," Grace said, digging a colored piece of parchment from her bag.
She handed over the two books to the Hufflepuff boy, and set off to the nearest shelf that is still full of books. Grace pulled off as many books as she can hold, and went back to the place where the towers stood. She carefully stacked them into another tower.
What was the language that the Hufflepuff boy just spoke? Grace thought silently. She had certainly heard it somewhere, most definitely when her family visited an Asian country some years ago. She shrugged the thought off, not wanting to recall memories of her dad, who had left the family.
Instead, she returned her attention to the Ravenclaw girl. "I think we should try out that blanket idea of yours," she offered, "It sounds like something that will work."

Grace tilted her head to study the towers from a distance. "Well, I'm not muggle born, but I used to attend a muggle primary school before I came here, so that's where my muggle friends came from," She shrugged, "But don't worry, I don't discriminate muggle borns like some pure bloods do," She added quickly, not wanting others to think she's mean or anything.
The Ravenclaw girl actually had a blanket, which could be used to build the roof like she said. Eager to change the subject, Grace went off to find more books that they could use. She passed the Hufflepuff boy on her way and took a glance at what he was doing. He seemed to be extremely busy, with at least five books opened in front of him. Grace decided not to disturb the boy, as he might get angry again.
The Ravenclaw girl introduced herself as Paige Chase, but she said something in that same language that the Hufflepuff boy used when he first entered the library. Looks like a lot of people here know more than one language, Grace thought.
"It's actually quite nice how we can meet people from other houses in the library right?" Grace laughed as she made her way back to the towers, arms full of books. "Here, I got some more books from the shelf, that should be enough for us to finish the tower."
Grace went back to stacking the books, but then she realized how the Ravenclaw boy who started this book tower building commotion did not speak all this time. "What do you want the roof to look like?" She asked the boy, offering him the stack of books she just brought.

Henry remained focused on his task, stacking books from the floor around him. He figured they were books people had left around for the librarian to replace, though that was a bit rude. Still, if they were simply going to be left on nearby tables and the floor, he might as well put them to use. While stacking, he was unaware of the girl who had shown up behind him. Finishing off the second stack, he jumped at the sound of a voice behind him and turned to see a girl standing there. “Oh, thanks,” Henry said, glancing back at his stack. “Henry,” he added on, pushing himself up to shake her hand.
As he introduced himself, another person showed up, this time it was a boy. He spoke in an Asian language Henry didn’t recognize and then began berating him in English. As he spoke, another girl showed up, maybe to see what the commotion was. Two of the books in his stack were ones the boy needed. Whoops. “Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t think about that.” The new girl mentioned how there might be other copies, but Henry wasn’t sure if they would be able to find them. These books had just been left here, he had no idea what section of the library they came from. “I think I could Jenga them out of there,” Henry started toward his tower but was beat there by Grace. “Never mind, then.” He said, turning back to the boy. “Again, sorry about that.”
A card for a friend? Henry scrunched up his nose and raised his brows, a little confused as to why Grace was asking them to sign a card for a friend. He didn’t usually like signing cards for people he didn’t know. It was a little weird. Not that he wasn’t completely willing to befriend whoever this person was, but he wasn’t sure how they would feel getting a card filled with unfamiliar names. Grace and the other girl, Paige apparently, were having a bit of a conversation, too, but it ended quickly and the subject changed to his stacks of books.
He had seen Paige around the common room, so he wasn’t surprised that she seemed to understand what he was trying to do. A blanket would work perfectly as a roof. It was a good thing Paige had one, or that idea wouldn’t work very well. Grace asked about the roof and Henry looked back at the abandoned stacks. “Hmm, I kind of wanted to see if I could make it out of books, too. Figure out a way to puzzle them into holding each other up.” Henry responded, glancing back at the boy still standing near him. “We can probably just put the corners of the blanket on the towers and use books to weigh them down. Kind of like a lean-to.” He gestured toward the two stacks and then looked back at the boy. “Would use less books, too.”

He turned his frown toward Paige as she spoke to him, lips pressed in a thin line. “There are better places for fun than the library.” He pointed out with a sigh as Grace extracted the books and handed them to him. He checked the titles, nodding to himself as he confirmed that they were the books he needed. He glanced back at the other students as they continued to build their tower, shaking his head slightly.
"すみません? (Sumimasen - Excuse me)” The words tumbled out in Japanese as Grace tried to hand him a card. “I don’t- What is-” He gave her a look of absolute confusion. "I’m sorry but why would you want me to sign a card to a complete stranger? Is this… common here?” He glanced at the others for confirmation.
His gaze turned back to Paige as she attempted to greet him in his native tongue. Unfortunately for her, the words she spoke were not Japanese, earning another frown from Kazuo. “That’s Mandarin,” He informed her with another sigh. “I’m Japanese. If you want to introduce yourself in Japanese you say ‘Watashi no namae wa Paige desu’. Or just 'watashi wa Paige desu' if you're being informal." Perhaps he sounded as if he were lecturing the girl. Perhaps he was lecturing the girl. Perhaps her assumption that he was Chinese annoyed him a bit. Possibly even more than the book tower. This is why I keep to myself… He thought with a sigh.
It was at this point that Henry finally spoke up and Kazuo felt at least a little mollified by the boy's apology. "I suppose you didn’t mean any harm…" He ceded reluctantly, tilting his head slightly in curiosity. "It's not your fault other students don’t bother putting their books back." He studied the towers as Henry spoke of wanting to build the roof with books. "You would have to use a…" He paused, struggling with English for a moment. He made a sort of half circle motion with his hands then pointed to one of the arched window frames. "That shape. The books would be too small for anything else."
With that piece of advice given, he took his books and retreated back to his chair and his studies.
