A bag filled with various books, quills, and bottles thumped against the brunette’s waist. The morning had flown by, and Callista had somehow found herself with lots of homework. She found the DADA lesson that morning particularly challenging, and it didn’t help that Potions, filled with fumes and various ingredients, had been directly before it. Thus, she found herself with two essays that needed completion.

There was no doubt where she went after her classes. It had been two months since the fateful Sorting day, but although the Hufflepuff common room was quite comfortable, Callista still found herself walking to the library almost every day - regardless of how much homework she had.

Notorious bookworm as she was, she quite enjoyed working on her assignments. It certainly made the process a lot more interesting when the assignments were about magic. Even History of Magic - which, for some reason, many people seemed to dislike - was fascinating to the Muggle born. How could anyone dislike learning about goblins and gargoyles?

Already going over what she was going to write in her Potions essay in her head, Callista took a few books off the shelf and sat down. A bottle of black ink, a red and gold quill, and some parchment went onto the table. She barely noticed the students around her as she cross referenced the textbooks she had selected. Several minutes passed with just the sound of a quill scratching on parchment audible.

Starting to get tired - she had already written three quarters of a page - she stopped and closed one of her textbooks. As she stood up to place it back on the shelf, her elbow knocked the bottle of ink over. For a split second, Callista was blissfully unaware of the incident. Then, out of her peripheral vision, she spotted the expanse of shiny blackness.

The book was hastily put back on table. The ink had spilled on someone else’s parchment. Guessing that it was the student’s assignment, Callista flushed with embarrassment. ”I am so, so sorry!” Hastily, she took a napkin from her pocket and tried to clean the ink up, although it wasn’t very effective. A quick glance upwards paused her busy hands. Oh. Oh.
