Charms Catastrophe
Aspen has been sitting in the library, staring at the same page in her Charms textbook for what feels like forever. At the beginning of the year, adjusting to the new work was much easier. Professors understood that many students did not know much about the magical world coming into it and frankly, were much more supportive. Now, work is racking up and getting much more complicated. Aspen has been doing her best, but her weekends have been filled with sitting in the library, reading and re-reading the required material.
Scratching her hair, and messing up her smooth ponytail, Aspen sighs. Being holed up in the library, having no time to spend with her peers, it is all so tiring.
Taking another note on a vocab word, Aspen flips the page of her textbook. Around her, students are heading out. Going to spend the late afternoon with friends or at practice for various sports or club meetings, but Aspen, she is still trying to finish up homework due first period tomorrow morning.
Aspen reads another page as her eyes glaze over. The material is not boring, no it is just hard to understand when your brain is wired to Math and Science not Charms and Herbology.

Aspen slams down her textbook, maybe a break and a snack would help. She begins to gather up her stuff when a tall, somewhat formidable figure walks up. Somehow, this older student knows her name but before she can ask how, they go on to introduce themselves as Cassandra, Cash for short.
It hits Aspen like a bag of stale cookies, the charms tutor her professor set up, great. Aspen smiles at Cash and scoots over, making room for the more experienced student. The black-haired girl opens her textbook back up and flips to the page she was at, 92.
"Yeah, I am Aspen. Thank you for doing this, y'know it... it's really nice of you." Aspen looks up at the green-eyed Slytherin as she says this, trying to prove she means it. And she does... it is nice of Cash to do this. But Aspen was one of the best students in primary school, she was the tutor, not the tutor-y. On top of that, Aspen has been studying all day long with zero progress, how is one hour a week supposed to do that much help.
Moving on from her negative thoughts, Aspen points to a paragraph in the textbook, "So I wrote this essay about time magic theory and how it works, I did a ton of research, but I still don't get it. I know we just did a quick overview as first years but..."
