Typically, libraries and Gryffindors didn't mix well together but in the case of Elena Jangleton, she was willing to make an exception. After her little endeavor down in the Chamber with Flash and Adlai, she was beginning to question a lot of things about this castle. There were still a lot of unexplained things and the various books she had sprawled before her on the table offered no help. Sure, they gave names, important things, stuff like that but aside from that, nothing to expand on. She prodded at an open novel as if hoping it would produce some helpful miracle or something. "No? Nothing? Great." She responded sarcastically. It was a bit frustrating, she wanted to help the young Hufflepuff that she had grown close to but didn't know how to.
She still considered themselves very lucky that they hadn't run into any great, big, hulking monster down there. That would have been a tough one to explain to the professors. At the same time though, it seemed relatively pointless. What sort of creature or being or whatever on Merlin's good earth was haunting Adlai beckoned you to a place like that just to suddenly fade away. There was something they were missing, something they hadn't picked up on. She didn't know what it was but she did know one thing, when in doubt, the library did wonders. Except in this case, the library was not doing wonders. She hadn't found one blasted mention of the Chamber anywhere, she had been longily eyeing the Restricted Section for a long time but the alluring prescene of the librarian walking around convinced her it would not be worth it.
She had arranged for her friend to meet her here. Maybe two heads could be better than one. Elena liked a challenge and to be honest, it was a sort of break from the chaos of the school, it was oddly relieving in a sense. They realled needed access to that Restricted Section. It made sense that books about things such as the Chamber and anything that would inspire students to get up to shenanigans would be in such a category. All it would take was a simple Confundus Charm. Her hand brushed against the slender piece of wood in her pocket before she exhaled a sight. "Maybe in a hundred years." She muttered drumming her fingers on the table.

Tired and still a bit anxious from the night before Adlai made her way to the library once she had been dismissed from her current class. The hissing voices had vanished which she was grateful for since now she was able to fully focus on her work and be able to sleep peacefully. Her main concern being, how would she tell her parents? Until she got some more information on her newly discovered and strange ability she thought it was best not to tell them yet. The other thing that still boggled her mind were the initials she found. She hadn't old Elena or Flash about them while they were down there in fear that some one may be listening to them.
Nonetheless, she might as well tell Elena now while they were alone. Walking into the library she saw her friend pouring themselves over a vast array of books, which was fairly odd to her since Elena (much like Adlai herself) was not one to read. Knowing this Adlai gaged that Elena must be feeling horrible, and hoping to lighten the mood she slowly crept up behind her before suddenly clasping her hands over Elena's eyes. "Guess who?" she cooed, hoping that they weren't being too loud to attract any unwanted attention from the librarian or any other students who were actually using the library to study or work on assignments.

No, Elena decided that in fact the books she had sprawled around would do her no additional benefit. She had pored over page number two hundred seventy six of her History of Magic textbook too many times and there was not a literal single mention of some glorified Chamber near the Slytherin Common Room. She made a mental note to ask Professor Zahid about it though he would probably inquire to her newlyfound curiosity. No, it was probably better not to attract unwanted attentioon where it was avoidable. Still, she found it utterly inexcusable as proud as an insitituion as Hogwarts was, the Chamber of Secrets played a huge role and that to find there was no mention of it, it was in fact doing the school a dis-service. There had to be something, they just weren't looking hard enough.
She barely had time to register her next thoughts as a pair of hands slipped over her eyes. "Wha-" She let a smile grace her features hearing the voice which she assumed to be the responsible culprit. "My fellow partner in crime and amazing friend, Adlai." She responded though secretly, she was impressed at how quietly the girl had approached. Or maybe it was Elena, was she getting that old? The thought was mortifying. However, the Gryffindor exhaled a sigh of relief seeking solace in the fact that she now had her friend here to allieve her frustration with all these books. And books. And even more books. "You have no idea how long I've been here." Come of think of it, how long had it been? An hour? Two? Three? She decided not to think about as it would probably stress her out more.
"There's not one mention about the Chamber. Not a single thing in any of these." Maybe it was written in code in some of these books? She wouldn't put it past the authors but if it was, surely they would have left some sort of clue that would lead to them discovering said code. "I feel like we're missing something." She mused abdsent-mindly flipping through the pages. A name? A picture? Anything would do, it just didn't seem logical as big as the library was, there was literally nothing on the Chamber. They just weren't looking hard enough.

Bringing her hands to her sides Adlai smiled up at Elena. Partner in Crimewas quite the title for an all around law abiding Hufflepuff, yet it made her feel rather proud.
"There's more questions than answers now, that's for sure. But hey, at least we know what's down there and that there are also others. Maybe they know something." she said as she recalled the ukulele Flash had discovered while the three of them we investigating the other night.
"We just have to take one step at a time, and not fry our brains." Adlai giggled as she poked Elenas forehead and took a seat in one of the library chairs.
"I highly doubt we'll find anything in books. It looked like it hadn't been used in years." Although she was most likely right, Adlai was mainly trying to keep Elena from short-circuiting. She could see by the way that Elena looked at the pages that she wasn't happy and that she wasn't getting anywhere.
"Also, I think Flash had said that only parsels could get down there. So if it was in a book, it would have probably had to be written by a parsel, right?" She inquired. "Are there any parsels that you know of that have had links to Hogwarts?"

She had to laugh at that. That was a good senitment to echo in their current predicament if you could even call it that. "I think we've done enough brain frying over the past few days, don't you?" She said grinning a bit. Poring over hordes of textbooks plus taking a jarring adventure down into the Chamber of Secrets unsure what they were going to run into did tend to change something in a person. Luckily for all of them though, they had all relatively come out unharmed even if it left them with more questions than answers. "You're probably right though. All these books are good at are collecting dust. I was thinking maybe the Restricted Section had something but I still have to figure out a way to get in there." Maybe a well-placed dungbomb or something, that is if they were willing to commit to it.
"Parseltongues?" She asked furrowing her brow. Truth be told, Elena didn't know a whole of people gifted with that ability, especially not anyone who would authored such a book. It seemed like the sort of thing her proud Slytherin parents would do but even in their misguided wisdom, she very much doubted they would undertake such a feat. It seemed too miniscule in nature of people of their level much to Elena's chagrin. "Honestly no, and I very much doubt a current student here is responsible. You would think the teachers would tend to notice if the Chamber was reopened." That was the other fact and one she was silently grateful for. Despite their little venture down into the Chamber, no one seemed to have caught wind of their little adventure, something she was immensel grateful for.
"I think maybe whatever called us down there wanted to show us something? A clue? A sign?" It was oddly eerie and creepy in a sense but it got her detective mind working. She just hoped she was on the right track and not all this effort was for nothing. She was really debating whether to ask Professor Zahid but the logical side of her brain appealed. He would probably inquire to her newfound interest in the Chamber of Secrets, something she did not want to answer, better not to attract unwanted attention. "You know, I was thinking maybe we could see if the History of Magic professor knows anything but I don't want him wondering why we want to know."

"I don't think going into the restricted section is a very good idea. We could get expelled if we got caught back there." She said as she gestured to the caged off section of the library.
"And I don't think it would be a good idea to get the teachers involved, unless we absolutely have too. As of now the only thing we found down there was another kids ukulele, so nothing bad is down there from what we know."
She leaned back in the chair. For a twelve year old this was a lot of pressure, and she was sure it couldn't be psychologically healthy. Perhaps it was some form of trauma? Thinking about it only made her stressed. Shaking her hands out she rolled her head back and looked up at the ceiling of the library.
"For now, it might be smart to do some kind of research over the summer and then revisit it when we get back next year." Although she didn't know how she'd be able to research "people who can talk to snakes" over the summer without coming off as suspicious or as an odd new interest to her parents.
"What do you think?"

"Fair point." She admitted leaning back a bit in her chair. The last thing they needed was a Professor or two poking their nose into something that would almost certainly land them in a detention or worse. It was not an idea she entertained visiting in the slightest though it had been worth a shot. She briefly eyed the portion of the libary what was off-limits before relenting. There were a lot of factors involved if they wanted to pursue that route and they were sure to attract attention if they went there. "You know, I've always thought why there was a Restricted Section in the first place anyways. It's a library, you'd think it's main purpose would be wanting students to read instead of limiting them." She said eyeing the various books around them. The idea of the cordoned off section being so visible was a problem too. She was sure most people wouldn't even be aware of the Restricted Section if it wasn' there in the first place. Well, to each their own, she supposed.
"Summer research sounds good. Send me owls if you find anything relatively interesting." At least that way. Elena have something to do rather than listening to her parents drone on about whatever horrible things they were plotting. The estate though proud in appearance, the people who ran it had declined in character greatly and it really was not something she was looking forward to. At least, this way she had something to focus on and it was oddly relieving in a sense. "If there are any other secret hidden places you want to explore before we graduate, let me know. The Chamber was just one of many places that was concealed within the castle, she was postively sure there were a numerous amount of corridors, rooms or even entire sections of the castle they had yet to discover.
Exploring, it was a lovely litte pastime and their recent endeavor had confirmed that. Though preferably, she would like if if not all the hidden areas they stumbled upon gave off the aura that they were about to meet an impending doom. "I've heard rumours about that Room of Requirement, we should check that out one day." Elena herself hadn't had the good fortune to enter it self but she had heard the process to do so was very tedious but once you got in, it was an interesting sight to say the least. Up on the fifth floor, somewhere, she had heard.

"Room of Requirement?" Adlai had never heard of such a place. Then again she wasn't one who often told rumors and gossip. In a way it was for her own good, her sweet oblivious nature protected her judgment of others and unknown things from being tainted from false words.
The idea of other hidden rooms in the castle did intrigue her though. It was an enormous place, and many times before has she gotten lost in its vastly spreading corridors and moving stair cases. She wouldn't have half the trouble getting from point A to point B if she had a map.
A map...the idea of the school having a map was very interesting. Would it change on a moment to moment bases to match the unknown patterns of the moving staircases? That would be something she would wonder about for the next few days before she completely forgot about it and had moved onto the next frivolous question to ponder on.
Nonetheless, Elena (at least in Adlai's eyes) was very much so the adventurous type. She seemed to be one who enjoyed taking risks while Adlai was one who preferred to play it safe unless it was undoubtably required of her to not be. The idea of going into the restricted section made her stomach turn. Trouble was not something she was looking for, at least she didn't mean to be looking for.

She nodded at Adlai's inquiry. As far as she knew, it was perfectly accessible to them as long as they could figure out how to get into it but that was a later challenge for a later time and furthermore, she was willing to bet that unlike the Chamber, they would not be subject to dark, creepy things though one could imagine. "Apparently, it's really complicated to get into but opens itself to one who is in need." Merlin knew what that meant but it was what she had heard. Maybe if you really, really wanted the room to appear, it just..materliazed or something? "Supposed to be different for everyone so who knows what it looks like for us." That is if they ever managed to locate the darned thing. Elena had a brief image of her room back at the estate with it's lavish curtains and all the intricate details. Could it turn into that? A sort of home within a home if you would.
She closed the book she had been poring over pushing it away. Enough of that, aside from big words she still didn't understand and giving information she had already knew, this library adventure had been of little benefit to their predicament. Adlai might not be as keen on the idea of the Restricted Section but Elena Jangleton was a Gryffindor through and through and sometimes, Gryffindors did some quite reckless things for their friends and in Elena's case, the thought that was floating through her head was that she would have to revisit this place at a more appropiate time and do certain things that student's normally wouldn't for the sake of clarity. A detention would be worth it and besides, she doubted that many students would here in the evening hours unless you were a Ravenclaw. "Whatever those voices are, we'll get to the bottom of it together."
She said putting her hand out for a fist bump. Yes, they would except the girl had come to accept the fact that this portion of the case would have to be a solo one. It would be quick, just a little endeavor into the caged off area, snag a book, and out. It seemed simple but given how some of the books in the library tended to have certain magical qualites, she would have to prepare. The librarian wouldn't even catch wind of it. In and out, simple. It was a very Gryffindor-like way of thinking and she knew that were was a fair chance of something popping up and but a detention or two would be worth it if she salvaged the information she needed.

Adlai smiled at she balled up her hand and tapped her knuckles against Elena's. With her, Adlai knew she was in for a lot. After all Elena was not the type to stay still and Adlai saw it as her duty to keep Elena out of trouble, in some odd friendly way.
"The voices? Oh right!" She exclaimed, "I forgot to tell you, ever since we went down there I haven't heard any. It's all gone silent."
No more slithering sounds in her ear anymore meant she had a bit more energy and her grades would surprisingly gone up by a small percentage with that distraction being gone. Her mother would certainly notice the new increase in energy when she returns home for the summer, though she's sure to merely brush it off as Adlai's excitement to be back home and to be back with the family.
"Oh! I also have something for you!" Today she had been rather forgetful and she was lucky that now her mind had decided to remember all that she had to get done before the day is out. rummaging through her bag she pulls out a tiny knitted, stuffed hippo.

Gleefully she holds it out to Elena. "I wasn't sure about why kind of animals you like, so I made it the animal that remind me of you! If you don't like it though I can make a different one."
