Not A Bath, But A Pool
This thread takes place in the Prefects Bathroom, temporarily moved for accessibility
Of all the places to take solace at Hogwarts, what better than the bathroom. Not just any bathroom, the prefect bathroom. Yes, the perks of prefect went beyond a shiny badge or an unfiltered and entitled state of sassy towards peers. There was a bathroom just for these house representatives. A place to cry without interruption over the daily horrors. Horrors that, for Thomas, ranged from blood curdling old ladies with a sweet tooth, to Erin Ryan’s existence.
For the few that knew Thomas Lestrange, his fascination with water went beyond enjoying swimming. Having seen things under the surface in the black lake provided his compulsion to wander near subconsciously. As if the restful waters would offer the answers he sought. This strange obsession started with a vision an old crone provided. She took him under the surface to show him a trio of professors taking his father away. A man that is now dead.
Not this year. Thomas has exceeded the broody stereotypes at a school where if you weren’t melodramatic, you are doing things wrong. Not this year. Out with the old, in with the new. Thomas vowed to change. To his mother, Professor Jensen, to himself. It was time for his retribution, and comedic relief. To let go of what cannot be changed and increase social activity. Serving as a positive influence, a cautionary tale. Of what not to do. Though burying your troubles was a dangerous game, as was walking away from a trio of crones he vowed allegiance to. Not this year.
Time for a bath, a fresh start. Washing away the troubles, the ill thoughts. Rest, relax, and enjoy yourself. Taking time to revel in his successful start to the year, a prefect and a newspaper writer. Thomas had much to be proud of, and he was taking the first steps to let go. In hindsight, would letting go prove to be the difficult part? Or was it the past letting go of you? The many actions Thomas took in his reign of selfish narcissism would not go unpunished. The universe will respond. Would he be ready?
The boy twisted various faucet handles to fill the lofty tub with lukewarm water. He added soaps that gave the rising waters a bluish tint. While the water rose, Thomas shed his house robes until all that remained was a pair of black shower shorts that could pass as swim trunks. Replaced his boots with shower shoes of similar tint. The boy hung his house robes in the designated area before retrieving a towel from the rack.
The bluish water now had a layer of foam at the surface, intermittent bubbles rising from the top. Thomas turned the faucets off as it reached a reasonable level. He shed his shower shoes and placed the towel at their side before entering. Upon submergence, a pleasant tingle went down his spine. The boy relaxed for several minutes before opting to swim across this grand bath that was the size of a small swimming pool. The second year Slytherin assumed he was alone, beginning an interval of laps across the bath. First, the backstroke.

Not A Bath, But A Pool
Cannonballing Near @Thomas Lestrange
Willow had only just become prefect a few days prior, but when she heard there was a special bathroom for the prefects she couldn't be more delighted. Having to share the bathroom with so many girls left much to be desired in terms of time to get ready. Being able to sneak off to a bathroom that only 16 people could use? Much better.
Not only had she heard that it was a fully equipped bathroom to be used for showering and stuff, but also that it had basically a giant bathtub pool with a seemingly always perfect temperature and soaps galore to put into it. It was her dream, a bubble bath she could swim in. So of course, she donned a bathing suit and some clothes to walk over to the prefect bathroom with a towel slung over her shoulder, her new and shiny prefect badge pinned onto her shirt.
When she arrived in the shiny and polished place she couldn't help but gaze in awe of just how large it was. She found a place to drop a couple of her things. She almost couldn't take it all in, suddenly she felt bad not being able to share this place with her friends. Especially after the disaster that was the April Fools Pool Party this would be a delightful place to have a swim. Nevertheless, it was hers to enjoy for the moment.
A brief thought passed her mind as she wondered if the water was always already filled or if someone had already been in here. If it was the former, it seemed like quite the waste of water. Did wizards have water crises? Or was that just with muggles? Could they just spell up more water? That's something she'd have to talk to Professor Masoud about in History of Magic. For now, she giggled with glee- did something move in the water? A trick of the bubbles probably. She made a running leap into the middle of the pool. "Cannonballlllllllllllll!" Her voice echoed off of the empty walls as she leapt at the last second, curling her legs up into her arms and making a splash.
The water seemed to encapsulate her in a perfect warmth, the stress of school already washing off as she swam back up to the surface. As she broke the surface she pushed her pale pink hair that stuck to her face out of her eyesight, giggles bubbling out of her like the bubbles that filled the pool. That's when she noticed that someone else was actually in the pool. Despite the shock that covered his face, she spoke between giggles. "Hi there~ I'm Willow. The new Hufflepuff prefect." She had only been a prefect for three days, so she wouldn't be surprised if the vaguely familiar boy sharing the pool with her didn't know. She gathered up some of the bubbles in her hand and blew them towards him. Ah, what a Hufflepuff she was indeed.

Not A Bath, But A Pool
What a rarity in this immense castle, to experience a moment unattended. Thomas relished this moment, even if only temporarily. Yes, someone was always watching--impeding the individual pleasantries. As the boy continued his stroke variations across the bubbled over waters of teal tint, he would not notice the entrance of another. Lost in his own blissful state, unrivaled peace.
A startled Thomas ceased his backstroke, rising in place to view the source of disturbance. A flash of pink was airborne, her legs curled into her arms in unison with this emphatic entrance near the center of the pool. Thomas drifted from her splash zone, rising his hands as he turned his face away to shield himself from the splash. She submerged only a few feet away from the boy, sending gentle ripples across the bath/pool/what have you.
The girl rose from the surface in a fit of giggles, reveling in self amusement. On the other side, the contrasting Thomas folded his arms in displeasure. Though as he took in the visual of this seemingly harmless girl, he was able to bypass the instinctual defensive measures that arrived with her startling entrance. His blue eyes narrowed in attempt to detect what was vaguely familiar about the girl. Not able to place her now dampened pink hair, but the facial features resembled someone he has seen before.
Her intermittent giggles, the blowing of bubbles in his direction, it was all very cute if you were partial to Nicholas Sparks novels. Thomas, however, was not synonymous with the word. His lips curled up slightly in a smirk. "Willow." He spoke with a small acknowledging nod. "I'm..." Before offering his own name, he brought his fingers together and sent them sharply through the water as if executing a chest pass in basketball. Except the basketball here was a splash of water heading towards the top half of her frame.
He smiled modestly, tilting his head in pretended confusion. "Oh, I'm sorry...didn't catch that? I'm--" Thomas brought his hands together to repeat the splash, this time muttering a few words as he did so. The boy would repeat this process for as long as he needed to until Willow decided to clap back, or left the pool-bath. A foolproof plan.

Willow's brilliant smile only faded slightly when she saw the attitude that was firmly planted in the other boy's face and body language. It was obvious he didn't want to be disturbed but this was a giant bubble bath pool. It was an absolute crime not to cannonball in it, surely he understood. Her giggles did fade with the grouchy one in front of her, briefly she wondered if he was in Slytherin. They were usually the grouchy types.
She quickly nodded when he said her name, as if it was a hard name to understand. She started to walk forward towards him to be able to talk without shouting over the pool before she was met with an assault of water. At first she was surprised, and quickly wiped away the water. Her eyes narrowed at the boy and his terrible lying. Surely he knew he wasn't good at it? He continued to splash her, barely giving her time between them to breathe. But there were two that could play at this game. As soon as he sent a rather large wave her way, she quickly took a deep breath and dove under.
It was at times like this that Willow was grateful that her parents gave her swimming lessons when she was quite young. Navigating under the most bubbliest of areas, she swam as stealthily as she could to pop up behind him and give him a light tap on the shoulder. "You're what? A big bummer in a giant bubble pool?" She sent her own splash towards him, but it wasn't exactly big since they were so close. "Loosen up, would ya mystery boy? You must think you're awfully important to expect to get this whole thing to yourself." She took a couple steps away from him, not wanting to catch his bad attitude. Her body gently sank back into the warm water, only leaving her head peeking up above the water.

Not A Bath, But A Pool
Thomas pricked a hole in this bubbly balloon of a girl, her amusement swiftly faded as she realized it was not shared. It was only fair, a few small splashes at her dampened head to get even after her rude interruption. Thomas' lips parted to speak, but the words would only be for himself as she dropped underneath the bubbly waters. "Thom-- He halted his official introduction, eyes carefully scanning the waters before him.
It was disconcerting, not to identify her movements underneath copious bluish bubbles. Thomas could not be certain of her intentions, somewhere in between hiding the tears or circling the boy's legs like a shark. The boy let a gentle huff escape his lips before lowering his frame and positioning himself to continue the backstroke. Though as he bent an arm, a light tap on his should startled the boy to a one-eighty hop a few feet away.
The boy's narrow-eyed glare lessened in intensity, wrapping his head around.. "A what. He muttered softly, mostly to himself. Odd accusations aside, the fact she proceeded to blame him after her rude interruption left a fowl taste. "Of all the places to cannonball. You get a pass this time, Willow." Thomas showed no exterior signs of loosening up, but he was readily prepping the next move of engagement. The water war begins.
With a modest shrug, Thomas approached the exterior of the pool, vaulting himself up with both hands to have a seat on the skimmer. His blue eyes would find the girl's head peeping out of the water, issuing a nod of departure. "Have fun." With that, the boy turned his frame and exited the pool. With his back turned to Willow, he would approach the towel rack with a cheeky smirk forming on his lips. After retrieving a towel, he held it in his dominant left and circled back to where his robes were folded.
Out of the corner of the boy's eye, he surveyed the girl, waiting for any sign her guard has lowered. The boy would continue this dramatic performance, lightly patting his arm with the towel, but then his fingers relinquished their grip, letting it fall to the floor. With a swift pivot, he turned his body back towards the pool. Hopefully the girl did not notice this curious movement, but if she had...it would not make much difference(see roll). Thomas pressed his bare feet into the floor, darting back towards the pool. As he neared the skimmer, he leaped from the edge, bringing his knees into his chest to execute a textbook cannonball as close to Willow as possible--but hopefully not physically hitting her.
