Callista loved libraries. Some say libraries are portals, some say libraries are home, some say libraries are paradise, some say libraries are just places that have lots of dusty books. Callista didn't really know what a library was to her - probably a mix of everything good that was said about them. Home, paradise, portals to enchanted places, a haven, a space for learning... all of that seemed fitting.

Whatever it was, Callista was now seated at one of the tables in the corridor. To a passing person, it would have looked like she was waiting for someone. But in truth, she was looking out the window at the people milling around. Small dots outside from this distance. There were some around the lake - Callista shuddered at the thought - and some by the trees. Far away she could even see the Quidditch stadium. And why wasn't she outside today? She didn't feel like it. After a hectic week or so of being at Hogwarts, Callista itched for some comfort. Books, specifically. But then she came here to read and she couldn't find a good book to read.

She wanted to interact with someone, and yet she didn't at the same time. It didn't make much sense, but Callista knew what she wanted - something impossible, but something she wanted nevertheless. She wanted her sister here to talk to her. But that was impossible, so she shouldn't long for it. Callista breathed out a small sigh. Looking outside was nice. It wasn't perfect, but it was nice enough for now. Callista smiled a little.

The library, the one place Henry could go to be alone and either forget or think about his troubles. That year, the second year was almost always in the library because of everything on his mind and what not but he also almost never alone and instead someone always seemed to find him or he found them but never less that always meant less time to dwell on his problems even through in the end he would most likely find a new friend out of it.

That day Henry had four books stacked up in his hands, he left his messager type bag in his dormitory and instead if his normal attire he wore long, worn out black jeans and a slytherin sweater which was unusual for the second year to wear something of his house because most times he would try and hide the fact that he was even a slytherin probably how he got the nickname slytherin traitor among so many of his housemates. Anyway the blue eyed and dark brown haired boy was looking for a place to seat which bugged him since so many seemed to be full.

After a while however Henry finally found out where only one girl sat so Henry approached the chair opposite of her and spoke " would you mind if I joined you, mate," Henry then gave her a small smile " everywhere else is full."

Callista was pulled from her wistful thoughts by a gentle voice saying asking if they could sit at her table.

"O-oh, of course," she replied, surprised. The boy had dark brown hair and kind, light blue eyes. Kind of han- Nope, nope, and nope, Callista chided herself. He was holding several books, and he was wearing a Slytherin sweater. Her thoughts immediately went to her own attire. She was wearing a light yellow shirt with black leggings - her usual Hufflepuff attire. I should probably introduce myself, Callista reflected, the thought only now reaching her.

"Um, my name is, um, Callista... Lovis," she managed to get out. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't... well, the best. Internally, she facepalmed. First impressions were important, and she pretty much botched it. Oh well. She stared down, fidgeted with her watch, a dark blue one with gold lining.

She glanced up at the boy. He seemed to be a year or so older than her - second year, probably. He seemed nice, although Callista was a little surprised to see a boy like him with four books. Maybe he's studying for a test? she wondered. Of course, there's a possibility he just liked studying or reading, like her. Either way, Callista was slightly uncomfortable with another person sitting across from her. Hopefully, he won't mind her awkwardness...

After hearing her say that he can join her, Henry placed his small stacked on the table and sat down soon after he heard the girl introduced herself as Callista Lovis in which Henry smiled up at her and spoke " nice to meet you Callista, I'm Henry, uh just Henry," he again kept his surname hidden at the moment and almost always Henry rarely introduced himself with his surname anymore mostly because he didn't want to be part of his father's or mother's family at the moment but everything can change.

Henry took one of the books off his stack and opened it to the first page but instead of reading, Henry looked up at the girl and decided to speak " do you come here offtened? I usually come to the library a lot myself," Henry thought he might recognized the girl but couldn't be sure before he remembered that he was wearing a slytherin sweater and decided to speak up again " I'm not like most Slytherin's by the way, actually I'm nothing like Slytherin's and a few of them like to call me slytherin traitor for all the time I hang out with hufflepuff's and Ravenclaw's," Henry smiled then looked back at the book as he thought he said to much.

The older boy sat down and introduced himself as Henry. Callista cocked her head a little bit, curious as to why he would prefer to not say his last name. The most logical assumption would be he didn't want to be connected to his family, although Callista had no idea why that would be. For some weird reason, when he said his name was "Henry" she thought of the violinist Henry Lau in Korea - although there was a possibility he was Canadian?

But that was beside the point. While she had been pondering Henry's name, the Slytherin boy had opened one of his books, but instead of reading it, he asked her, "Do you come here often? I usually come here a lot by myself."

Ah, Callista thought. So I was right in that he likes to read... probably. She doubted herself a bit, seeing as there were other possible explanations as to why he came to the library often, but they weren't as likely.

"Um," Callista said. "I... guess I do come here a lot?" She said it, embarrassingly, like a question. But it was true, she loved the library and came here often to read or just be alone with her thoughts. The boy seemed to realize something as he was looking at her and informed her that he was "not like most Slytherins" and that "a few of them like to call me Slytherin traitor". Callista was a little confused, and it showed.

Without thinking, she immediately responded. "But... how are you a Slytherin traitor? I mean, what house you're sorted into doesn't define you, it's just the place that the hat thinks you'll be best in. Besides, what's wrong with Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws?" she added, a little hurt. I mean, sure, Hufflepuffs aren't that... respected... but enough so that anyone that hangs out with them would be considered a traitor? That's just... weird? messed up? mean? Callista didn't even know. By now the first year had figured out that by "not like most Slytherins" he must mean the Slytherin stereotype. Sure, she didn't believe in it, but she wasn't ignorant either. Her brow furrowed in slight confusion, she stared at the book Henry was holding.

Henry listened to Callista and smiled when he heard that she said that she did come there offended, it was a weird question but Henry didn't know what to ask or how to start a conversation with someone in the library who was moments ago reading so Henry just nodded as he was about to start reading but instead he saw her looking at the titles so Henry showed her the title which was a black spine book with simple lettering in the cover as Henry himself spoke " it's a book on advanced astronomy, I always liked the class well actually I always liked every class. I'm a bit of a geek if you couldn't tell before," Henry laughed a but at his answer before going back to his book but longing to talk to her more.

Henry heard her reply or speak it struck him as odd, so he closed his book and smiled as her before speaking " I have nothing wrong with Ravenclaw's or Hufflepuff's, my best friend is a hufflepuff and lots of my close friends are Ravenclaw's," Henry would then add in his head, also my girlfriend is ravenclaw to, but Henry wouldn't dare to say this as he thought of Logan and Miranda his best friend and girlfriend before speaking again " they call me a traitor because I spend all my time with others and don't really have too many friends in Slytherin's, actually I have more enemies in my own house than friends but I do have two uh close friends in Slytherin's," Henry wouldn't call them close but he definitely would call Cash and Nick his friends.

Callista watched curiously as Henry showed her the book he held in his hands. Apparently, it was a book on advanced astronomy. Callista couldn't help a grin slip through as she listened to him. "If you're a geek then I am too," she told him with a smile. "I like astronomy too, but I haven't had that many classes yet. What's your favorite class?" She was starting to warm up to this boy that liked to read and liked astronomy, this boy that labels himself as a Slytherin traitor and is friends with Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws, who hides his last name and has kind eyes.

Lost in her thoughts, she started as Henry said (thankfully) that he had nothing against Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws. "They call me a traitor because I spend all my time with others and don't really have too many friends in Slytherin, actually I have more enemies in my own house than friends, but I do have two, uh, close friends in Slytherin," he said.

"What's wrong with having friends in other houses though?" Callista asked, frowning slightly. "I mean, obviously it's good to have friends in your own house, but we're all studying at this school, and isn't it better to have friends than enemies? Not that I, um, have much experience with friends or anything..." She blushed, a little embarrassed. Thinking a little, she added, "Do you know what house I'm in?" Callista wondered if people could tell what house she was in if she wasn't wearing her Hufflepuff robes, although she was wearing what she called her "casual Hufflepuff outfit", a light yellow shirt with black leggings.

Henry couldn't help but laugh a little when the girl say she was a geek to before asking what his favorite class way, Henry however said " we could be geek friends then," Henry smiled a bit at her clearly enjoying talking to her before adding " my favorite classes are astronomy, charms, potions, transfiguration, and next year when I can take them it will also he ancient runes and care of magical creatures," Henry took a breath before then adding " what classes are you looking forward to then?" Henry shut his book as he looked up at Callista and smiled, he clearly enjoyed talking to her and getting to know her.

However Henry couldn't help but wonder why she keep bringing up being friends with different houses and why it matter, Henry was about to speak before she then ask if he knew what house she was in. Henry then spoke " no and I never cared for houses really, I'm friends with anyone really," Henry smiled as her before continuing " some people care about houses and believe others to be enemies if their not in their house that's why. I don't and lucky for me none if my friends do either," Henry gave her another smile.

Callista smiled at the other boy. "Sounds good!" she said. "Wow, all of those classes sound amazing! I think I'm looking forward to all the classes you just mentioned." Thinking a little, she asked worriedly, "Is flying scary? I don't think I'll enjoy it that much..." She thought back to when she was standing on Taipei 101 and remembered something from a book she had read a few months ago (Divergent). "Becoming fearless isn't the point. That's impossible. It's learning how to control your fear, and how to be free from it."

"I agree," Callista responded. Somewhere in her mind, she wondered if she was pushing this a little and if she should just focus on getting to know the boy. But she really wanted to see what he had to say about this. Ever since Robert... Callista stopped herself before she could think about that. This was about Henry, not Robert. "I wonder when people started thinking that way... Was it just too much house spirit, or was it something else..? It seems like it's been like that all along, but I don't want to believe that. For this school to even exist, it must have started off with good intentions... right?" She suddenly thought that she was talking way too much. "Sorry, I have a habit of... thinking out loud." she mumbled.

Henry couldn't help but smile when Callista spoke about looking forward to those classes as well and being a bit nervous for flying, did I just find someone else who enjoys classes and knowledge like me? A fellow geek and occasionally it all... maybe she comes to the library a lot to and I could meet up with her to read and chat. As Henry pulled himself out of his thoughts he then begun to speak " most of the classes are bloody interesting and purely amazing, I could even help you with a few if you want or if you don't understand something in them?" Henry offered his tutoring with a smile before continuing " and flying isn't scary don't worry, its actually quite peaceful and calming to be up there. Maybe we could practice sometime? Quidditch on the other hand can be a bit scary which is why I stick to watching instead of playing."

Henry wanted to chat more but didn't know what, he hated that when he didn't feel anxious or awkward and wanted to talk but couldn't think of anything to say. As he thought he heard her speak again and couldn't help but add in " don't worry mate, I don't judge. I'm probably way more awkward then you anyway," Henry gave her a smile before continuing " house rivalries just been a thing for years, centuries even and no one question it. Some don't care while some do, I don't really pay attention to it and why should we, like you said your house destiny define you or your friends."
