Everything about the platform before her was the same, but everything about her on the inside was different. And probably not really… different, as she had just learned about magic less than a month prior to having boarded this train last. Besides, at that point, it was still new, and she’d yet to have successfully performed any herself. Only now, she’d been immersed in the wizarding world for a whole year, and though still a measly amount of time compared to other students her age, she’d already learned so much. Some of this new knowledge was good, and it excited her. But other parts, while not necessarily bad, had left her conflicted and questioning things she’d previously thought to be resolute.

Bas had climbed on top of her trunk and was now nuzzling against her arm, purring loudly. She welcomed the distraction from her furry little friend and turned to pet him and scratch behind his right ear, his favorite spot. She'd barely had him a few months, but they'd bonded quickly, and he was comforting to have around. "I know you're chuffed to get back," she whispered to him, smiling, and bending down so her face was level with his. She playfully tapped his little black nose with the tip of her index finger. In the last few weeks she’d spent at home, her mother hadn’t let him wander out the house, much less sit near an even partially opened window, afraid he’d disappear and never come back like their first cat. But in most of the time they’d spent together, they were at Hogwarts, and he’d been allowed to roam freely through the castle halls and on the grounds. He was eager to run around and stretch his legs, and somehow, he seemed to know that this train would get him exactly where he wanted to go.

Taking his queue, Tatiana lifted her trunk by the handle and made her way toward the train. The first time she'd boarded this ruby red locomotive, she'd never seen Hogwarts before, and her nerves kept her on the platform a little too long. Almost all of the compartments had been full, and not wanting to intrude on anyone's conversations, she'd chosen one almost all the way to the back, with a rather rude young lady who was much more interested in her book than she was with speaking. But this time, she'd arrived with plenty of time, and she made sure to not waste too much of it fiddling around before she boarded.

She had managed to beat most of the crowds, students huddling with their families and exchanging goodbyes, parents urging their children to study hard and to write home often. It made Tatiana feel a brief twinge of sadness to think that her parents weren't there to see her off, again. But with everything that had been going on, she was grateful to have a little time to herself. It didn't take her long to come across an unoccupied compartment, but just for the sake of putting some distance between herself and the entryway, she continued on, passing several before she settled in. She tucked her chest under the seat, after making sure to first retrieve a small cardigan and book from it, and sat down cross legged on one of the benches, Bas curling up beside her. Most people walked down the corridor, passing by her door, as they already had groups they intended to sit with. It didn't bother her much, she liked being alone, but she also wasn't opposed to finding someone a little more pleasant to take the ride with this time around. The train was filling up quickly and just a few minutes had passed before she heard her compartment door slide open. She turned toward the hall, smiling warmly at the person standing in the threshold.
