Leaving her Potions class and entering the corridor Adlai looked over her notes. She’d have to make flash cards for sure if she wanted to memorize the difference between mental, physical, and environmental potions.
She wondered what time it was, if it was almost time for Dhuhr, since she didn’t have her watch.
She slowed her walking pace and looked on both sides of the corridors walls for a clock.
All the while she admired the craftsmanship in the knights armor that was lined up against the wall, she had only ever saw things like these in picture books or historical movies.

The occasional owl would fly about the corridor with a letter. Either bringing it to a student or sending it out to family or friends Adlai wouldn’t know.
She found this school so incredibly interesting, though it may have seemed strange to the “pure blood” students since they’ve known of magic and the different magical schools all their life.
They also seemed to have known the basics of magic already and knew the answer to most of the professors questions.
Adlai would like to at least answer one class question correctly. Thus, from this moment on she made it her goal to study hard!

"Excuse me, excuse me," mumbles Virgil Lee to the students who can't even hear his quiet tone, trying his hardest not to elbow someone or step on their feet. He forces all of his messy notes and quills inside his bag, punching them inside as quickly as he can — hopefully not kneading any parchment or spilling any ink.

Virgil desperately wants to leave and hide, like usual — dreading the end of every class has become part of his routine. He hates adventuring the sea of loud students walking around, talking and laughing, as he quietly makes his way to his next class. Focus! He thinks. History of Magic. Class 72. Third-floor.

He sucks in some air, dodging an arm that barely misses his face, promptly taking a step back, unaware of the person standing right there. He bumps, rather aggressively he may add, against the poor student and turns around, the words escaping his mouth as he shakes his head, cheeks burning.

"Oh, Merlin's beard, I'm sorry—"Virgil looks up and meets a girl's face. The words suddenly disappear and he feels his entire face on fire. That's the girl who sat next to him during Potions. An awkward laughter escape his mouth.

He feels bad for not remembering her name. She's taller than him (like most people are) and has pretty almond eyes. Virgil coughs awkwardly, hoping his face doesn't look as red as it feels, "Sorry, uh..."

OOC: Sorry for the late reply.
“Oh no it’s perfectly fine I should have caught you after all.” Adlai said grinning and pushing back the hairs that dared to escape their confines of lemon colored clothe that she had chosen to match the colors of her house.
“Hey I know you!” She exclaimed.
“I sat next to you in Potions, Virgil right? I’m Adlai, Adlai Rod. It’s nice to meet you!”
She smoothed out the invisible wrinkles of her ankle length skirt and stuck out her hand to Virgil.
“Sorry I wasn’t able to introduce myself to you before, how rude of me.”
She leaned back not wanting to slouch.
Firsf impressions are important.’ her mother’s voice chimed in her head.
“I hope we’re great partners, maybe we even have other classes together!”
She completely forgot about what she was doing before. A tendency of hers sadly. Thus, the constant notes and reminders in her class journals.
“I hope I’m not a bother I tend to babble on and on when I meet new people. You can stop me at anytime though I won’t mind.”
She was excited, a new acquaintance and perhaps a new friend to write to her parents about, they’d be so very proud of her.

Oh...

"Ah, yes, we sat together..." The words leave his mouth rather awkwardly, as usual. He's surprised that she noticed him there. After all, he stayed quiet during the whole class. Too busy with his notes and trying his hardest to pay attention and learn something to start conversation...

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Adlai." He coughs and says, shaking her hand, a polite smile on his face. "I hope we can work great together, too," Virgil looks around, curious to see if it's safe to leave, avoiding eye contact as he's still very embarrassed. "And I don't mind the talking, really. However, I, uh, I don't usually talk much, so I hope that doesn't bother you either."

When he turns and they awkwardly stare at each other, he feels his like should say something. Adlai seems to be a nice person... Virgil ignores his racing heart telling him to escape and adds, smiling, thankfully sounding very relaxed. "You're really good in Potions, by the way. Are any of your parents Potioneers or something? My mum knows a lot about potions, but quite frankly, I just can't wrap my head around it."

“Oh no, neither of my parents know anything about magic. I’m what people call a “muggle.” I only just started to study magic a few years ago.” She said recalling the day she found out she could even do magic.
“Im flattered that you think I’m good with potions though! Perhaps we could study together at some point.” She suggested.

Since Virgil was now looking directly at Adlai, she was able to see him much better. He was shorter then her but he was good looking in her opinion, especially for someone of their age.
“I like your hair.” She noted.

“You said your mom was good at potions right? If you don’t mind me asking, what kind does she brew?”
Ever since she had arrived at Hogwarts Adlai had taken every chance to ask questions about what life was like growing up beside magic.
She found it absolutely fascinating how magic was used in simple day to day chores, cooking, and cleaning. While she had gone several years of her life without just fine.
“Oh, and does your dad know any magic? My friend Leah only has one parent who knows how to do magic. Is it the same with your family or...”
Adlai didn’t know if she was being nosy, or if she was coming off as rude. Her curiosity seemed to get the best of her.

I like your hair, his brain repeats her compliment over and over again, making him look down, cheeks and ears burning, as he scratches the back of his hair. Virgil isn't that used to compliments — not on his appearance, at least. He mumbles awkwardly, trying to hide his embarrassement. "T-Thank you..."

He glances at her face, then looks around, ready to change the subject. "So, uh, mum's a Healer back in Portugal, so she has to take care of hurt wizarding people," Virgil adds, fidgeting, trying to make the profession sound interesting, "She brews a lot of Healing Potion. You have no idea how many reckless wizards need it..." He shakes his head, laughing. "Ah, about my dad...? Dad's a Dragonologist. He's a wizard, too. I'm, uh, I'm a pureblood."

He smiles weakly, afraid that he may have sounded a little arrogant. Some pure-bloods have bad reputation, as some families still believe in the pure-blood supremacy. Thankfully, Virgil's family — both from his mother and dad's sides — aren't like that. Though, he adds, just to be sure, "Well, if the offer to study together stands, because I sure need it, I'd love to hear about the muggle world from you."

Most of the students are leaving, probably going to their classrooms, the corridor is almost empty. Oh!, Virgil remembers. He looks around again, trying to remember where the nearest staircase is. "I have History of Magic right now," Virgil point out, looking back at Adlai and her pretty eyes. "What about you?"

“Oh so your mom is like a doctor for wizards and witches, that’s so cool! I’m not sure what Dragonologist‘s are though I’ll have to look into that.” She exclaimed as rolled her sleeve up and wrote the term onto her arm with her quill.
“Oh, I have Transfiguration which I’m not really good at.” She blew on her arm for the ink to dry before rolling her sleeve back down.
“I think their the same way though, want to walk together?” She asked as she turned on her heels and gestured down the hall.

“My parents are tailors, my Dad likes to say that he’s a barber though.” She said putting her quill back into her bag.
Maybe I shouldn’t have written on my arm.’ she thought as the ink had begun to dry and with it her arm had begun to itch and burn.
“What do you think of your classes so far? I personally love astronomy, I’ve always been fond of it. I can’t wait when I’m able to have astronomy as a full time class. It’ll be fun, we’ll at least for me.”
She went on to rabble about how the Milky Way and Andromeda Galaxy would collide in several million years, and how she theorized it would be a second Big Bang.

"Ah, Transfiguration... A nightmare." Virgil mumbles, closing his eyes and frowning, remembering his first class with the blind woman. Honestly, he'd been very excited for both Transfiguration and Potions, but, Merlin, did destiny make a fool out of him... He still needs to work on his Transfiguration homework, though, he reminds himself dreadfully. Well, I'll take care of that later!

"I can’t wait when I’m able to have Astronomy as a full-time class. It’ll be fun, well, at least for me!" He watches Adlai as she talks about the Big Bang and Astronomy, sounding really excited. Virgil smiles to himself, walking by her side, paying attention to every word. He doesn't understand much, as he's not that invested in space and almost anything related to Astronomy.

He nods here and there, trying to be polite and, once the Hufflepuff is done with her — rather adorable, he might add — rambling, Virgil says, not sounding nearly as excited as her, "So far, my favorite is Defense Against the Dark Arts. Learning defensive spells is really important!" Virgil nods like he's agreeing with his own words. "N-Not that I'm looking for trouble or anything like that!"

He fidgets. "I sort of I like Charms, too. He seems cool, the professor. I'm pretty pathetic at it, though..." He awkwardly laughs, looking down as they both go up the staircase. Virgil runs his fingers through his dark hair. "I'm interested in Herbology and Flying. I know some healing herbs, thanks to my mum." He shrugs, "I wanna be able to fly, but I'm scared..."

Defense Against The Dark Arts is fun, though I wasn’t able to preform one of the spells until my eighth try. It was the same with one of the charms in...well Charms.” She said.
“Herbology seems farely interesting since it has some astronomical components to it. As for flying...I tend to have a phobia of heights. Just being on the balcony of a building makes me uneasy.”
Adlai laughed awkwardly as she recalled the many times her friends had forced her onto rollercoasters whenever they attended school trips to amusement parks.
“Then again I have unreasonable phobias of anything and everything.”
She scratched the back of her neck, her hand finding its way beneath the lemon colored head scarf.

As they reached the middle of the stair case Adlai leaned down and pulled at the back of her black flats that were painfully to small. Not even the thin black material of her tights could protect the back of her heels from the horrible and unwanted splinters that have begun to form.
“How in the world could these be so small, they had fit last year.” She murmured under her breath.
“Sorry, you can go on ahead I might be awhile.” She told Virgil, waving her hand at him to go onward.

"Well, phobias are like that. Irrational. You can't simply explain them. I have tripophobia," He shrugs calmly, remembering the times his uncle Jay would make fun of him for that. Then, he notices that she's stopped walking. Virgil looks over his shoulder, giving her a confused look. "Are you alright?"

"Sorry, you can go ahead. I might take a while," Adlai waves at him.

"Oh..." Virgil turns around completely. Adlai Rod looks down at her leg. She seems to be having some difficulty with her tights. Virgil frowns, biting his lower lip. He takes another step as she waves him to do so, one more time. "Ok... Uh, see you."

He holds his bag closer, now feeling a little bit lonely. Getting attached easily is one of his many problems... Well, it's ok! As he finally arrives on the third floor, Virgil notices that Slytherin is sharing the classroom with Gryffindor. How nice...

As usual, Virgil stands awkwardly in the corner, watching as the Gryffindor talk and laugh — being obnoxiously loud, like they all are. In moments like this, he wishes he was more of an extrovert, so he wouldn't be so alone all the time. Virgil thinks of Trent, his cousin, who would probably start conversations with strangers. Don't even think about it! Not gonna happen!

So, he just stands there and hopes the professor will arrive soon.
