The brunette made her way from the Gryffindor Common room down the many steps. Most would already changed out of their school robes but not Aurelia who had put on her robe just before stepping from the dorms. The pink prefect badge pinned neatly on the crisp black and red robes was like a beacon signalling to passing students that it was about time they headed up to the dorms. Curfew was not until 15 minutes but Aurelia would not be returning to her dorms until in an hour’s time. She was on patrol duty today.

As usual, she was tasked to policing the hallways and catch any shenanigans that she was unfortunate enough to pass. The prefect duties as well as journaling for the school newspaper took up a chunk of her schedule but despite that, the twelve year old still managed with her school work and the owls. On days like these, she would barely get 6 hours of sleep. The Gryffindor still had 2 more articles to write and a piece of defence against the dark arts assignment to complete. It was going to be a kind day.

10 minutes to curfew, Aurelia continued down the stairs. Usually, she’d start from the basements, the frequently visited potion classroom, working her way up to astronomy. Admittedly, stair-climbing was a fairly good way to work out. Aurelia desperately hoped she would not come across any discipline issues this round or deal with rebellious older years who would refuse to listen to a second year prefect.

It was late and Aurelia was tired, she wanted nothing more than to sleep. However as the girl rounded the corner down the stairwell, when her right hand raised to rub her fatigued eyes temporarily blocking her view temporarily, someone collided into her. Aurelia almost lost her balance but got a grip on the walls to support herself. The other students who was blind enough to crash into her laid on the ground, her blonde hair falling across her face.

Summer still got lost, whether it be getting lost in the time or getting lost in the castle corridors. In this case, it was the latter. She wasn't sure why, or how, she hadn't gotten a hang of where she was going just yet. Perhaps the constant moving of staircases probably had something to do with that, but those weren't everywhere. And when no one else was around, she couldn't ask for any help navigating the castle. Nervously glancing around the dimly lit hallway she was in, the blonde tried to speed up her pace.

All I wanted to do was find a quiet place to study in. She sighed. And now, I'm definitely going to get in trouble if someone finds me. If everyone was gone, that had to mean it was past curfew. And staying up past curfew...

The blonde's grey eyes wandered the dark and stony walls that lined the corridor she was walking down, looking for any indication of a stairwell. Maybe it would lead to the main connection of stairs that included all those portraits, moving stairs, and whatnot. Again, she groaned at the realization that a few of them must have seen her. Those portraits wouldn't snitch on her, right?

With increased fear now of getting one of those angry letters kids had been getting, Summer threw a glance over her shoulder to make sure nobody was behind her. That one second was all it took, though, for her to crash into someone.

She let out a surprised yelp, her hand trying to grab hold onto the wall. That didn't work. She lost her grip and fell to the ground. After staying there for two seconds to recover herself, Summer sat up and pushed her blonde hair out of her face to see a stern looking girl standing above her. She still hadn't noticed the shiny badge pinned to the girl's clothes, and gave her a sheepish smile still.

"Sorry. Are you lost too?"

The girl looked younger than her. Aurelia by now would know most of the second years already and this girl was definitely not a second year. Still, the Gryffindor prefect felt slightly back that even though she was the one the girl crashed into, the blonde had fell hard. “Are you alright?” Aurelia asked, her eyebrows creasing slightly as she knelt down to help the girl up, it was as if her prefect motherly instincts were kicking in like how it had in the abandoned bathrooms.

It was obvious that the girl had not recognised her as a prefect who had all the rights to issue a detention to her when she asked if she was lost as well a prefect. It had been barely a month since Aurelia had received the position and therefore it was no surprise her face did not scream the word prefect.

No, I’m not lost.” She began.

I’m Aurelia, Gryffindor prefect.” Aurelia wasn’t one for humor, but this was just a very bad joke to introduce herself as well as subtly tell this girl who she has just collided into a few seconds ago.

This girl had said she was lost. Of course, the hallways of Hogwarts were always confusing sometimes even for Aurelia who had been in the school for almost two years. Aurelia could not tell if she was a Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, Slyherin or one of her house for she did not wear school robes. But one thing was for sure, wherever it was, it was nearly impossible for this girl to make it to her dormitory in time.

Summer took the other girl's hand, flashing her an apologetic look before dusting off her shirt and jeans. "I'm fine, thanks. Sorry about that... I'm kind of a mess in this place." She chuckled slightly before giving the girl a quick once over. She seemed to have an aura of knowing what she was doing, her words precise. Besides all that, the girl seemed rather kind- she hadn't yelled at her for running into her when it had completely been Summer's fault.
"No, I'm not lost. I’m Aurelia, Gryffindor prefect."
"Oh." Summer nearly smacked herself on the head for her stupidity. Gryffindor prefect? She cleared her throat quickly before continuing. "Summer, Slytherin first year. In case the first year part wasn't too obvious," she added, fighting to keep her expression neutral.

"So, um. Do you happen to know what time it is now? I kinda lost track." Her hands reached up to fiddle with her blonde hair. The extremely light pink tips seemed to have a ghostly appearance under the torchlight, and Summer almost got distracted by that random fact for a second, but she looked back up at the girl.

After a little bit, she blurted another jumble of words. "Uh, does this mean I'm in trouble?" Had it been a bad idea to ask that? Possibly.
