Stop Right There... Pumpkin!?
October 5th 2021
16:05 - After Last Class
The leaves on the trees in the grounds were turning shades of orange and red, the increasingly regular morning frosts meant the grass had that satisfying crunch underfoot, and of course each day was one closer to Christmas! Second only to December, October was Scarlet's favourite month of the year, not only did she have her birthday to look forward to, but there was of course Halloween, one of her favourite holidays.
Up until this point though, the day hadn't been on her mind, there was no reason for it to be, she had just come out of a Transfiguration class, her last lesson of the day, and her mind was busy wondering how, if it all aware that bird was that it had been a little wooden box for half the lesson.
She knew, given the time of day, there would be people in the library she could go ad catch up with, but first she decided to head out for a short walk though the grounds. She began to follow her usual route though the various corridors of the castle, when she bumped into a familiar face.
"Chances of bumping into you... Henry!" she exclaimed, happy to see her friend, she had been about to call him by his nickname, Wolf Prince, but quickly realised he had been walking in time with another. "Hi, I'm Scarlet," she said introducing herself to the new face, "have you two just finished from class?" she asked, she didn't quite know how timetables varied from year to year, but figured there couldn't be that much difference in class times.
Henry's friend, the girl with fiery red hair, seemed nice after the brief words exchanged between the group, "I was heading out for a walk in the grounds if you wanted to j-" despite being so close, Scarlet didn't make it towards the end of her offer, before something quite bizarre caught her eye from behind where the two were stood.
A bright orange pumpkin, sporting it’s own set of arms and legs, had just skidded round the corner and into the corridor the three were stood in. Before Scarlet could say anything about the running vegetable to the others, the pumpkin quickly built up speed again, running straight into a set of armour stood against one of the walls, and making it’s presence known by itself.
“Well, what do you say to that?” Scarlet didn’t quite know what to say in response to what she was seeing, it was coming close to that spooky time of the year, so maybe she shouldn’t be surprised to see something like this, though the thing didn’t to move with any kind of control.

Stop Right There... Pumpkin!?
"I still perfer ventus even if nearly half our year can use the spell now and you?" Henry spoke to Rose, engaged in a conversation with her as the two exited the charms classroom and started to walk through the rathe endless corridors.
The third uesr would over at her, smiling a little as he listened and nodded to her words before replying" best dueling spell and if you still need help with it then I'll happily do that," the third year took a moment to smile toward her before casting his eyes at the great hall and the decorations for Halloween.
"Their starting to put the pumpkins up," Henry noted as they passed, the third year used to like and enjoy the holiday. It use to bring happy memories for him and be a time of joy, however currently the teen was dreading the approach of halloween.
After his mum died, he had only a few Halloween's that were happy and memorial then at Hogwarts. All he could think about was the lockdown last year during the full moon, the third year was worried it would happen again. Worried that the people he cared about would be in harm's way or someone would forget to take their potion a day and attack. The teen was worried it might be him.
The teen smiled over toward Rose as he spoke"favorite part of halloween, go," the teen would listened to her answer with a soft smile but fortunately he wouldn't get a chance to answer himself when a orange feline came running up to the pair, amber eyes drifting between the two.
Henry smiled softly at Loki who rubbed aginest Rose's legs twice before walking toward gkm.and jumping onto his right shoulder, taking his place and sitting there now with a addition the height. The teen wasn't sure where his feline went when he was in classes or what he did, only hoping that he wasn't causing trouble by himself or with the other felines.
"Hey Loki," Henry greeted his feline before turning toward Rose as he asked" do you want to start on our assignments? Perhaps in the grounds, we could see a creature or two," the blue eye teen would wait for her answer and nod to it if she had a chance to give one before a familiar face approached them.
"Hey, Rouge Savior," Henry replied back to Scarlet, the nickname didn't contain any mention of her fury secret so he thought it was safe to use as he listened to her. Loki however would arch his back then jump down, trotting up to the girl and giving a short meow to ask for attention.
"Yeah and I'm guessing the same for you," Henry would reply to Scarlet after the introductions between the two girls, the teen would smile toward the girl looking into her brown eyes as he nodded toward her words about to say yes when something unusual caught his attention.
The teen turned and widen his eyes at the sight of a pumpkin. A pumpkin with arms and legs made of vines bolting straight for them, absentmindedly the boy pulled out his wand from his bag as he watched the pumpkin run into a nearby suit of armor almost in a attempt to hide.
"Looks like the bewitchment of the pumpkins in the great hall went wrong or someone did this for a prank," Henry noted as he turned back to Scarlet and was at a lost for words as well however Loki seemed to know what to do.
Loki trotted from the group toward the armor where the pumpkin was and gave a short hiss, eyeing the armor and almost stalking it as Henry looked from the scene back to the others as he spoke" shall we catch it?"

Stop Right There... Pumpkin!?

During the day
School Robes=================== ===================
"Hmmm... I always thought the Bluebell Flames were really cool, but Flipendo and the healing spells are both very practical, so the three of them are definitely up there," Rose replied, giving her own answer to her earlier question that Henry had answered.
During the summer, her brother, Gabriel, had made the most effort out of all of her siblings to get to know Henry Knight, their new stepbrother. Henry and Gabe had gotten along brilliantly, leaving Rose relieved. Gabe, in an effort to learn about Henry, had developed a habit of surprising Henry with questions about himself, most of the time accompanied by some sort of physical touch, like a tap on the shoulder or a nudge with his elbow. The questions were always something like, "Favorite food! Go!" or "Wand description! Go!" Even now that the school year had started, if Gabe ever thought of a question or something he wanted to know about Henry he would surprise him from behind (these wouldn't always be surprises, as Henry had incredible scent and most of the time could smell Gabe) and exclaim his most recent pondering.
Rose had adopted this out of fondness (and maybe a little teasing) for her brothers, though it happened much less often than it did with Gabe, and much less aggressively loud. Rose used the questions as conversation starters most of the time, and she had come up with the idea to ask him an idea about his preference of spells.
"Ventus is very useful and cool, though," she added. She grinned and nudged him with her shoulder. "If I ever need help, I know who to go to." First of all, Franklin and Faith, her older siblings, were absolutely horrible mentors. Franklin always wanted to tell her the statistics about the spell, and how exactly it worked in the molecular level and blah blah blah. All she had wanted to know was the wand movement, because she hadn't been able to find it in her textbook. Faith was horrible at explaining on the rare occasion that she actually agreed to help Rose. Apparently she was very busy. Rose had been asking Henry questions about homework whenever she had them, and he had been extremely good at answering them.
Rose nodded. It was definitely beginning to feel like autumn around here. The air had chilled down since the summer, and the leaves were turning amber and gold and crimson before they littered the ground, falling in big piles. Rose always liked the smell of autumn, and it gave her a reason to wear her absolute favorite article of clothing- sweaters.
Rose paused to ponder his own question. "Dressing up. I really like the costumes that I get to wear on Halloween, they're really cool. Even if they're just made of extra stuff in my attic. What about you?" She smiled as they walked through the corridors in no way in particular.
At the pressure on her legs, Rose looked down. She shifted her schoolbag over her shoulder and looked down to see Loki, Henry's cat. The two of them stopped walking and smiled, leaning down to scratch him behind his ears before he moved on to greet his owner. It was then that Rose saw Chaska scampering through the crowd as fast as she could, seeming to catch up with Loki. "Do you think they were having a race?" Rose asked, leaning down to take her own cat in her arms. The thought of Chaska challenging Loki to a race and miserably losing was a very funny thought, and she smiled to herself.
He asked her a question about doing their assignments. If they ever had easier assignments, or, really assignments that weren't essays, sometimes they chose to work together on them, chatting and comparing answers. Rose found that time with Henry got her to think better, challenge herself a little bit. And they often did talking, bantering, chatting, joking, that always made homework a little less grueling. "Yeah! It would be smart to go ahead and get started," Rose replied, nodding. Henry could only nod in response as they were approached by a girl.
The girl was upbeat and seemed quite happy, but also significantly younger than them. Chaska leaned toward the girl, extending her neck to sniff her. Rose placed her cat on the ground, and the silver cat bounded forward to sniff the brunette's shoes, then looking up and meowing at her softly, almost like a hello. Chaska was a very friendly cat, and she took only a moment more than usual to sniff the girl, almost like she had with Henry. Rose shrugged it off, it was nothing. Nothing other than maybe the girl had a cat of her own that Chaska wanted to meet.
"I'm Rose," the redhead introduced herself. Her voice was a little quieter than most, and carried an American accent, though not as strong as it had once been, still apparent and still understandable. "That's Chaska."
Then she spied a pumpkin. Waddling around on arms and legs made of vines, running into a suit of armor. The redhead froze, then laughing a little. It was quite a funny sight. While Loki came forward a little to hiss at the pumpkin, Chaska jumped behind Rose, poking her head out, curious. Rose nodded at Henry's comment. "Yeah! I mean, it's just gonna wreck havoc if we don't. Won't hurt to try, right?" she replied. Rose crept forward to try to catch the pumpkin.

Stop Right There... Pumpkin!?
Mod Post
Roll 1d100: 52 - SuccessfulAh to have the wonderful experience of encountering an enchanted pumpkin. Some may find skipping orange vegetables quite amusing, though if you have a fear of the large thing you might have a worse time. The three students in the courtyard didn’t seem intimidated though, especially not Rose, who was quick to action after Henry had inquired about catching it. Together, Scarlet, Henry and Rose managed to capture the pumpkin and bring it to the ground through whatever tactics they planned. And no pumpkin guts were spilled. What skill, what finesse.ReducioCongrats! You successfully caught your pumpkin without it exploding. Thank you for participating. Please continue your thread if you wish to
