There was something about Hogwarts Castle that had always intrigued Logan. Even in the dead of night with risk of detention, Logan still wandered the halls as if there was nothing wrong with the world. It was like a peaceful little adventure where none could really disturb her. This wouldn't be the first time the second year had wandered the halls at night, although almost all of the other days she had a purpose to what she was doing, tonight she was just wandering to do something during her many recent sleepless nights.

It was late, just past curfew, as Logan found her way around the corridors on the ground floor of the castle. Her blue sweater doing nothing to keep her hidden in the halls, but it did keep her rather warm. It was quiet, the only sounds being the gentle tapping of her boots on the stone floor and the occasional sound of a small creature scurrying across the floor. The Hufflepuff was well aware that she should have been in her dorm, sound asleep, but after the attack on the Hufflepuff common room right after break the girl was unable too. There wasn't much to do at night other than stare at the ceiling of the dorm unless she wanted to wake her fellow dormmates, so that was how she found herself wandering the corridors once again.

Logan slightly shivered as a cool draft blew around her, although that was the moment she became aware of the tapping of claws on the stone floor. The girl turned to see what was making the noise, as whatever it was drew closer. Logan only rolled her eyes as her, at the moment, annoying cat came trotting around the corner, distracting the girl from everything else. "Sherlock, how did you get out of the common room?" she quietly hissed at the cat as he gently rubbed against her leg, meowing at her rather loudly. She only shushed the cat in response and picked him up, assuming he had slipped out when she had left the common room. She hoped no one had heard the rather loud cat.

The Hufflepuff was now distracted by her cat. Not only did she have to make sure she was not caught, but she had to make sure that Sherlock did not wander away or give her away. He was a rather mischievous cat, always doing something to get himself or his owner into trouble.

"Sherlock?" a voice in the darkness asked. "Perculiar name to give a cat. Unless you're an Arthur Conan Doyle fan, I suppose."

A boy's dark red hair with brown and blonde highlights came into view when he stepped into the torchlight and pulled down his robe hood. "Who goes there? You a hag? A hag affiliate? Because you're out past curfew in case you didn't realize."

Not that he wasn't as well, but the Slytherin was prepared to defend himself on that front. This girl he wasn't sure about. He doubted she was a Slytherin, but she was wearing blue and surely she had to have a good reason to be out and about at this time if she was, for some reason, a Ravenclaw, right?

Or maybe she just happened to be wearing blue for some other reason and wasn't an eagle at all. Whatever the reason, Jack didn't like the idea of not knowing who she was or what she was doing out; especially so casually and without fear. She didn't even seem to be trying to be sneaking or making her footsteps soft.

"I have a hard time beliving you're a normal student when you're so brazenly walking the halls like you don't know you're not supposed to be out here. Or that you could get expelled since they tightened security and made rules stricter last year." Now that he thought of it, perhaps he had seen her around once in a while. She didn't appear to be as new as a first year, in any case.

"I hope you have a good explanation for being out here or I'm going to have to report you and your...cat, if that's what it really is...to a higher authority."

At the sound of a voice speaking from the darkness, Logan's head shot up as she held onto her cat slightly tighter. She stayed silent for a moment, attempting to assess the situation only to become confused when a boy walked out of the shadows. The boy spoke as if he was interrogating her, something Logan was not a fan of.

"If you must know, I am a fan of Arthur Conan Doyle. And no, I am not a hag nor an affiliate of one." Logan slightly hissed at the boy as she attempted to continue to stay as quiet as possible. Logan felt Sherlock move around in her arms, so she allowed the cat to drop down to the ground. "Now would you be a bit quieter please, I am well aware I am out past curfew and so are you." Tonight was not a night the Hufflepuff wanted to get detention. She could only imagine the howler she would get from her father if he found out.

Taking the time to actually look at the boy, Logan's face scrunched up in slight confusion. She thought she had seen the boy around before, although she had never interacted with him. She was only slightly shorter than the boy, meaning she wasn't as intimidated by him as some of the people in the years a head of her, or even in her own year. She couldn't completely tell because of the darkness, but she was sure she had seen the boy with the Slytherins before, so she assumed that was what house he was in. Although she could never be sure anymore, it wasn't like she spent her time memorizing everyone in the school.

Logan really hadn't been paying much attention to the boy, but scowled once she heard him start talking again. Who was he to threaten her with getting a higher authority. "I highly doubt I would become expelled for wandering the halls past curfew. And how do you know I am not just heading back to my common room? It is only one floor above us." Logan was well aware that she was walking in the opposite direction of her common room, but she hoped the boy would not catch onto that.

"You are aware that if you go an get a higher authority to get me in trouble, you are most likely going to get in trouble as well. And he is a cat, too smart for his own good, but he is a cat." She wasn't sure if the boy was bluffing or if he really would go get someone to get her in trouble, but she didn't really want to risk it. Glancing down, Logan sighed as she noticed Sherlock wasn't even with her anymore, he was somewhere in the halls.

It appeared he wasn’t the only one creeping about after curfew.

As he had reached a corner, pacing in that carefully silent way that experienced rule-breakers quickly learned in order to dodge Prefects, a familiar voice assaulted his ears, breaking the usual silence. Burnett. What was he doing sneaking through the corridors after curfew? He turned the corner, gazing down the hallway to where Jack stood, questioning a girl who seemed familiar. He tilted his head in curiosity and took careful, silent steps forward, listening to Jack’s taunting words. A smirk crossed his lips as the rule-breaker threatened to tattle on the girl.

He leaned against a wall and crossed his arms, waiting to see what the girl would say in response, hoping that her voice might jog his memory since the image of her back in the flickering torchlight wasn’t doing much. Was she a Housemate? Yes… as she scolded Jack right back, telling him to keep his voice down, recognition came to him. She was indeed a housemate, one of the girls on the duelling team, in fact. Logan something? That sounded right. It was amusing that she seemed unaffected by Jack's threat. Though he supposed any student who was willing to creep out into the corridors at night must not fear the threat of detention too much else they wouldn't do it. Was Logan one of those who did it for the thrill? Or did she have some other motive that brought her out of the supposed safety of the Badger Den? Another thought crossed his mind, one full of paranoia, but he shoved that one away.

“Sounds like something a hag’s spy would say,” Kazuo spoke from behind them, just loud enough to be heard, amusement in his voice. “As I just came from the common room, I feel the need to point out that you are going the wrong way.” He turned his attention to Jack, giving the Slytherin boy a salute and a smirk. “Burnett. Hag hunting?”
