It had been a while since Scarlett had ever set up a prank, watched a prank, made a prank, shopped for pranks or did anything remotely related to pranking. A shame really, as that had been her favourite hobby outside of Hogwarts, before she had started to attend the school. She was so caught up in Quidditch, friend issues, family drama, homework, balls, classes, insecurity and generally life to give a second thought towards her old hobby. Recently though, after Scarlett had put into her mind the notation of an idea, she had reignited some old spark and cracked her knuckles and set to work.

Scarlett's funds were a bit depleted but she always had a few Dungbombs hiding around in her trunk somewhere. And lo and behold, she brandished the brown, stinky little balls with a smirk. An idea starting forming in her mind, her mental gears working, turning yet again to the tune of another dastardly plan.

It was after curfew, as that was where the best schemes occurred. Scarlett was currently barefoot and in her neutral-toned pyjamas (she reasoned that if she wasn't in a house-coloured set of PJs, she could fob off and not lose points for Gryffindor), sneaking out in the corridors. It was deathly quiet, but she had experience. Creeks and snaps couldn't make her jump. She crouched down near a classroom and her fingers got to work with the Dungbombs.

Kit was not the sort of caretaker who could be idle in one place for long. This meant that even when he wasn't schedeuled to patrol the halls, he was often roaming the castle and its 142 staircases looking for trouble. Well, not trouble he meant to cause himself, necessarily, but trouble caused by castle residents or, more importantly, trouble that might have threatened the castle's residents. Ever since he had heard that hags and other such dangers had been running rampant throughout the school walls, Kit had thought to apply for a position at Hogwarts. His precious younger sibling was attending there that year, after all, and he wanted to do everything in his power that they, along with their fellow schoolmates, remained safe.

As there had been talk of murder mysteries and secret balls planned behind teachers' backs, the caretaker had thought it took someone sneaky to catch someone sneaky. Furthermore, the hags that the school staff were dealing with had been said to change shape, which meant they could even be hiding among the student body themselves with no one the wiser. If that was the case, wouldn't the easiest thing have been to fight fire with fire? If a shapeshifter was the culprit behind all the problems the school had been facing as of late, wouldn't it have helped to have a shapeshifter sent to catch them?

That night, however, Kit had not chosen to disguise himself in any particular fashion; simply stood out as his usual, 190.5cm (6'3") tall self with heterochromic mis-matched eyes and a tattooed face of olive-tan complexion. His fingernails glinted silver with what may have been metallic nail polish to match his silver ear piercings, but most of his bare skin aside from what his fingerless gloves showed was hidden away in the depths of his robes. He was used to warmer weather, having come from the western part of North America, and it wasn't often he wasn't bundled in many layers of clothing at this time of year in the drafty old castle.

Despite his flashy appearance, most of his countenance was overshadowed by this hood pulled up over his head when he happened to catch sight of the student crouching near a classroom. His cat's grace made it easy enough for him to sneak around without being detected too quickly by students, but he ceased his approach for the time being just in case. Taking out an enchanted map with amusement, he delightedly spotted the figure on it and noted that the name labelling the being who stood there was printed as 'Scarlett Aden'. His signature Cheshire cat grin drew back his lips.

"...Oh Miss Aden~" he called in a soft but teasing sing-songy voice as walked up to the hunched figure, crouching down to be closer to her ear level. "...May I inquire as to what you're doing out of bed past curfew at such a late hour?"

His odd eyes cut to the odorous brown spheres she was bent over and he sniffed. "If you're intending to do with those what I think you are, I have to say, that's a rather amateur attempt."

Plans circulated round her head as she mentally ran through a list of options. Dungbombs on the doors - set to fall off whenever someone opened said door, were classic but not exactly creative. Dungbombs could be hidden in plenty of spaces - maybe in the teacher's desk? Or perhaps the student desks. She had plenty of enemies, and that could be amusing, especially if they were in the same class. As she was musing what to do, her ears caught the sound of footsteps slowly advancing towards her. She didn't freeze - Scarlett Aden did not freeze - but frowned. Light footsteps suggested a student out of bed, which was pretty common, but it could very well be a professor.

There came a voice, in a sing-song tone, as if to tease her. She hadn't heard the voice before, though it seemed familiar. Scarlett spun around quickly, to see some random guy with olive-tanned skin, tattoos and heterochronic eyes. She had absolutely no idea who he was, and how he knew her name. "Well," said Scarlett, eyes narrowing in response. "I could say the same to you. Who the hell are you and how do you know my name?"

Then he felt the need to insult her Dungbombs. Scarlett drew herself up to her full height - which wasn't that tall compared to the random guy, to be honest - and glared. "Again - who are you to call me amateur?" she snapped, hushing her voice as to stay inconspicuous at this time of night. "I have half a mind to report you to a professor - a random guy creeping about the castle corridors at night? Very suspicious."

"And I don't suppose you know how to set up a proper prank anyway, so how can you critique mine?" She was very slightly miffed about what he had said. Scarlett didn't like criticism.
