LOST!!!!
This Thread is future dated a week after the beginning of the School Year
Aoife felt a surge of panic run through her as she looked over the crudely drawn map scrawled onto the roll of parchment in her hands. If there was one thing Aoife definitely was not it was an artist. She turned the piece of paper over in her hands trying to make heads or tails of the crooked lines and messy illustrations. "Bloody 'ell did I draw this!? Did I 'ave a damn stroke or somethin'?!" She moaned. Other students passed by her in the halls all on their way to lunch whilst Aoife struggled to figure out where in the world she was going. Aoife knew well enough how to get to the Great Hall but over the week she'd been late to nearly 6 classes. Three of them have been all on the same day and the only thing keeping her safe from detention was the mercy extended to her from her professors. Primarily due to it being so early into the school year.

But Aoife knew she couldn't rely on the kindness of her professors forever especially if she was going to be attending school here for the next several years she needed to learn how to navigate it properly. Although this task was far easier said than done as Aoife's eyes panned over the map in her hands for the tenth time in the past 20 minutes. "Ack why cannae this bleedin' place 'ave staircases that dinnae move!!" She groaned. The idea that this place had corridors and staircases that weren't exactly in the same place as you often saw them the day before definitely did her no favors. Her shoulders sank as she growled in frustration and tore apart the useless map in her hands. "Tae hell wit' it all!!" She tossed the shredded pieces up into the air.

The thing was more likely to get her even more lost than she already was. Taking a deep breath she looked around ignoring the combination of amused and perturbed looks on the faces of other students passing her in the halls. It was at that point she felt her second wave of hopelessness wash over her as she realized that the map had likely already succeeded in the goal she'd accused it of.

She was completely and utterly lost.

"Oh...Ye've got tae be kiddin'..." She mumbled her tone bearing the weight of defeat as she glared down at the shredded map at her feet as if every piece were mocking her. She closed her eyes and raised her head refusing to allow the damned map the satisfaction of seeing her anymore beaten than she was. "Alrigh' S'fine! I'll find a teacher or somethin' an' get directions...Nothin tae worry yer 'ead over Aoife..." She said as she opened her eyes only to find that she now stood alone in the middle of the corridors. "W-Wait a tick! Where'd everyone go?!" She said swiftly turning on her heel to look down the hall for anyone. No one save for a few students hanging about with their friends and considering the side-eyed looks she was receiving likely from her earlier outburst she doubted she'd get any assistance from them.

Aoife was silent for a moment before burying her face into her palms and taking a deep breath. She was silent for another moment longer before a muffled scream could be heard through the hall from the small redheaded Scottish girl.

Willow had made it her mission this year to be more on time than she was before. Often last year she would lose track of time in the Courtyard or spend too much time in the Great Hall pilfering food to get her through the rest of her antics. This was her second year, it was time for her to get her stuff together. Professors wouldn't show the same leniency anymore and she knew that. For now though, she had lost track of time in the Courtyard and had to run to lunch to snag an apple before all the food was cleared away. She was walking a leisurely pace since her class wasn't too far from the Great Hall, humming one of the new muggle songs she had listened to over the summer.

She couldn't help but pause when she heard someone screaming. An anxiety hit her stomach. Something couldn't happen this early in the year could it? She wheeled on her heel and ran to stumble upon a girl that looked... positively lost. There was also paper scattered about her and Willow couldn't help but wonder if someone had ripped up her homework or something. Ah, she was already running late. She might as well stop and help. She quickly finished off the core of her apple and wiped the stickiness off on her robes. She'd clean them later. "Hey. Are you okay?"

Looking down at the scattered pieces she drew her wand and lightly spoke an incantation. "Reparo." She picked up the... uh... art project? From the floor and handed it back to the girl. "I'm Willow, a second year Hufflepuff. Do you need help with something?" Since the girl didn't fix the parchment on her own, Willow couldn't help but assume that she was a first year. But for now paused the rest of her questions not wanting to bombard the already, obviously, stressed girl.

Melissa walked as fast as she could. There was a muffled scream coming from somewhere but she ignored it. She was too busy getting to her class because there were only ten minutes remaining until her class starts. She was so far away from her classroom but she didn't have much time. Not again... she thought. What would father say if he found out I was missing some of the classes? Honestly, the ginger was too preoccupied that she wasn't paying attention to her surroundings until she ran into a face full of hair. A tiny "Oof," came out her mouth.

Mel backed up and looked at who she ran into. It was a girl with dark red hair- "Aoife!" she exclaimed. She had met this girl once, when her cat, Kato, ran away. "I'm so sorry!" Melissa then said. Why does this keep happening? she wondered. It was the second time she ran into someone. Mel then saw another girl with pink hair. "Oh uh...hi," she said. It was awkward because someone just saw her run into someone. "My name's Melissa, Mel for short." she then said, introducing herself. The girl looked about a year older...maybe even two.

Willow to the Rescue!!
A good scream was exactly what Aoife needed to vent some of her frustrations.

She let her hands drop to her sides and closed her eyes taking a deep breath in from her nose and out through her mouth. She knew that being late wasn't exactly a capital offense or anything but it was something she wished to resolve sooner rather than later. Now that her mini-fit had subsided it was far easier to think. She opened her eyes ready to tackle the task of navigating this giant and confusing place once more. And to be honest she felt far better about her chances now with that accursed map in pieces all over the floor. That was until she heard a voice speak up from behind her asking her if she needed help. She breathed in sharply partly in surprise honestly not expecting to have her wish for help to be granted so quickly. And also partly because as much as she hated to admit it? Aoife was easily startled not in a fearful way but in a more spastic way that her siblings seemed to garner a good deal of amusement from.

This presented itself openly as she quickly turned around in her heel in a rather sudden motion almost like a mini hurricane with how her robes seemed to fly up around her in her haste to turn toward the girl who'd spoken. She found herself face to face with another student the girl standing in front of her was shorter than her with blonde hair and blue eyes. "Yes please! I've been wanderin' all 'round this place fer hours even! I cannae tell where I'm goin' half the bloody time in this place!" She said in a somewhat panicked tone. She quickly recognized how spastic she was behaving and quickly pumped the brakes. "O-Oh sorry 'bout tha' I umm...Didn' mean tae freak out on ye like tha'." She said rubbing the back of her neck. She watched as the girl withdrew her wand and pointed it at the torn pieces of her map and with wide eyes she watched the pieces form back together.

"Oh! Um...Thank you." She said looking down at the map and frowning as she immediately remembered why she had torn it up in the first place. As the girl introduced herself as a second year and gave Aoife her name, The young Scottish girl put the navigational abomination in her hands to the back of her mind for the time being. "Ah righ' nice tae meet ye Willow. I'm Aoife...First Year as ye can probably guess!" She said offering the girl a small sheepish smile. "I'm a wee bit turned around I'm tryin' tae find...Potions class?" She said looking down at her horribly drawn map once more and squinting at a bit of her chicken scratch handwriting. "I've been at it since lunch started an' I still cannae fer the life o'me figure out where I'm goin'." She said.

As soon as her last word left her mouth she felt someone run into her back. It wasn't necessarily a hard bump but as shown earlier Aoife had a tendency for overreaction. And this trait of hers showed clearly as she jumped at the sudden contact. Luckily as she heard the voice of the person behind her she turned recognizing the girl from the little run in she'd had previously involving a pair of cats. "Ah! Melissa! M'sorry bout tha' didn' mean tae be standin' in yer way or nothin'." She said apologetically.

The chaos and stress of first year, especially navigating the castle, seemed like distant memories to her. But watching the flustered and frantic girl in front of her made them feel new and fresh. A small kind smile rested on her face, with her hands folded in front of her waiting for the girl to get through her ramblings. Honestly, the young girl kinda of reminded Willow of herself. Well, besides the accent. The castle was incredibly intimidating for someone who had never experienced it before. While they did give tours, navigating it first hand could be a bit hard. "It's nice to meet you Aoife~ Just so you know, screaming in a magical school can be a bit... alarming to those of us who have been here awhile. Never know what's happened with all the... uh, magic." She skipped over telling the girl about the Slytherin spider attack, Hufflepuff fire, and even her own house getting attacked in the Forbidden Forest last year. She would find out eventually, and right now her biggest problem was finding her class.

Willow opened her mouth to help guide the girl to where she needed to go before another slammed into her back. Willow took a precautionary step back, this afternoon was turning into something a lot more chaotic than she was planning. The two Ravenclaws, as indicated by the crest on their robes were positively adorable. The older badger couldn't help but smile in glee witnessing this interaction. "Willow Anderson, 2nd year. It's nice to meet you too Mel." A hand quickly dipped into her pockets and pulled out a bundle of friendship bracelets. "If anyone ever talks about the friendship bracelet girl, that's me. Do you guys want one? Then I can show you how to get to potions, and I can show you maybe a secret passage to your class? You seem to be in quite the rush." At this point, she was definitely going to get in trouble for being late. But, with her house and reputation hopefully helping two first years find their class would be a formidable excuse that didn't cause her house to lose any points.
Feel free to make the bracelets whatever you would like if they take one!

"O-oh. Yeah sure-" Melissa stammered. She didn't know what to say. No one had ever offered something to her before. There were multiple colourful bracelets in the pink-haired girl's hand. It was awkward so Mel decided to choose as fast as she could. She quickly looked at all of them but none of them caught her eye. Well, that was until she looked more closely at the bracelets and saw a lilac one that faded to a white peeking out. "Thanks," she said while taking it and putting it on her left wrist. Oh wow she's really nice...a possible friend I guess, the ginger thought. I don't really know her that well though-

"Soo, uh, we should get going now," Melissa said awkwardly. Yeah, she's not that type of person that just magically stirs up a conversation. She didn't know what to say because they just stood there. "I-I don't think any of us wants to be late..." she added. Well this is awkward- she thought. What if they think I'm weird? I- The ginger decided to stop thinking about that. The others were probably thinking of the opposite but who knows? Might as well just leave their thoughts alone. Mel was thinking about more important things now. Well, just one thing and that is, What's gonna happen if I'm late to class?

Friendship Bracelets and Secret Passages!
Aoife blinked owlishly as the pink-haired girl mentioned that screaming had a tendency to place people on edge around a magical school. Once again she found herself pondering just how many of the seemingly outlandish stories Moira and Liam had told were actually true. "Ummm? Alrigh'? Sorry 'bou tha'." She rubbed the back of her neck her eyes dropping toward the stones beneath her feet filing away that tiny tidbit of info for later. "So umm Willow? Wha' 'appened ta-" She was silenced as introductions were made between Willow and Melissa. She had questions regarding what Willow had said but clearly now was clearly not the time or place to ask them. She blinked as Willow seemed to suddenly withdraw quite an impressive collection of colorful friendship bracelets from her pockets enough that Aoife was questioning just how she'd managed to store so many in the pockets of her robes.

"Oh...Thanks!" She said as she looked over the selection of bracelets presented to her. She wasn't about to refuse a gift and Willow seemed like a nice person. Willow didn't have to stop and help the screaming First-Year but she did. Finally, Aoife picked one of the bracelets it was a braided bracelet with small diamond patterns of colors.

She looked over the bracelet for a moment admiring the design on it before slipping it onto her right wrist. She adjusted the bracelet for a moment before looking up at Willow a small smile gracing her lips. At the mention of a secret passage Aoife's eyes lit up like stars. "Secret passage?! Yes please!" She said excitedly. Aoife seemed to hop up and down in place she'd heard of the many secret passages that ran all throughout Hogwarts castle but she had never been able to squeeze any information out of her siblings or parents. They'd simply smile and tell her that she'd get her chance to discover them one day.

And the idea that she might be able to see one today definitely seemed to be turning her perspective on her day around.

Willow nodded happily as the girls took a couple of friendship bracelets from her hand before retucking them back into her robe pockets. She turned towards Aoife who had seemed to get cut off by the introductions between her and Meli. "Sorry, did you have a question about something? I didn't mean to cut you off if you did." She smiled gently before recognizing that they really should get going. Classes were due to start any minute. "Oh, yeah. Of course~ Melissa where are you headed off to? I know Aoife, you're going to potions right?" She took up the lead and started to head off towards potions. Secret passages were really just getting a hang of the quickest and nicest stairwells in the castle.

It was a funny thing how inanimate objects seemed to gain a personality with magic. People's wands, for example, had different temperaments and ways that they liked to be used. Some stairs would let you down gently if you were taking the wrong one. Others dropped into a slide and let you hit the ground with a mighty smack onto stone floors. She adeptly navigated around them as they walked. "Potions is actually going to be in the basement. So, avoid anything headed upwards or you'll never make it. It's the only class there. Most of them are on the first floor up, or outside. Like Herbology, which is my personal favorite." She giggled to herself. "I know it's a house stereotype but, I just love it. Do you two have any favorite classes so far?" She remembered her first week just being overwhelming in classes and information, hopefully these two were having a better time than she was.

Aoife slipped her newly gained friendship bracelet onto her wrist and smiled softly. Sure it might have only signified friendship but it felt sort of nice to have. In her time at Hogwarts her list of friends hadn't grown much beyond her siblings and to be fair it wasn't as if she could bug them too often to hang out with her. They had their own school lives to lead and she wasn't going to interject herself into them. As Willow spoke up she looked up from the bracelet around her wrist. "Huh? O-Oh tha's righ' potions!" She said with a nod as she followed the upperclassmen. The "secret passages" had really ended up being the stairs but watching the way the older girl navigated the shifting and moving architecture was a spectacle to behold in itself so she didn't have much in the way of complaints.

As Willow went on to explain that potions were regularly held in the basement she looked down at her crudely drawn map and wondered how in the world she would have even begun to figure that sort of thing out. She glanced up at the older girl tucking away her useless map into the pocket of her robes. "The basement? Tha' doesn' sound practical. Wha' if yer 'avin tae get tae potions from like the astronomy tower or sumthin' o'tha' sort? Ye'd never make it in time!" She said. As the question about any favorite classes arose she couldn't help but nod despite her reservations in regards to her previous question. Despite getting lost in this massive place she was still enjoying many of her classes. "I'm really enjoyin' DADA." She said with a grin.
