The previous night
The day had already felt strange. In fact, all days had, for what must've been over a fortnight now... If he tried, Scott would've definitely been able to pinpoint exactly what it was that was altering his otherwise carefree mood- but so far, just about anything that offered him an excuse not to make that attempt had been welcomed with open arms.
As was his discovery tonight:
The small, pink creature had only scuffled about the leg of his four poster bed for a mere second too long to remain in hiding- and so the boy had eventually caught sight of the intrepid pygmy puff as it explored these new lands: the Gryffindor boys' dormitory... And he perceived her as a gift- a golden distraction.
How had he not noticed her following him up there?
Why had she followed him up there?
Was this, God forbid, any form of theft?
Scott shot up from his bed in an instant and placed his naked feet on the stone floor, before kneeling down next to his bed in order to take a careful peek underneath it.
She wasn't cowering, Rosalie, as though she were frightened of him. Quite the opposite, actually. Now that he was looking straight at her, and her little game of hiding appeared to be over, she launched herself at the poor boy with a speed that had him fumbling back in a panic to grab at Alan's bed drapes, so not to fall over.
"You-" Scott breathed quietly, finally settling on the floor and cradling the creature making herself comfortable in his hands. "-should not be here. Not at all. "
Lifting Rosalie up to stay at his bedside table (though she seemed reluctant to let him go), Scott looked up to see if any of his dormmates had awoken due to the noise he must've made. The only one who had, though, was Lady Madeleine- who was now following Rosalie's every move across the wooden board and onto Scott's pillow, from the foot of his bed with an exhausted sort of judgement.
She hadn't loved her earlier that night, either, when Scott and Alexx had crossed paths...
What to do.
He couldn't very well leave with Rosalie now, could he? That was silly. It was already after curfew, he wasn't to patrol, and he wasn't even sure if he'd be able to find the Slytherin common rooms, where Alexx must've been settling in... But what if she was looking for her pet? What if she was worried?
Scott shook his head, and smiled defeatedly at the pink critter as he crawled down underneath his duvet again. He didn't really want to return her right now, did he? Ordeal or not.
"Surely if you followed me all the way here, she's used to your adventures. And I don't mean to suggest you're not good company! ...She's supposed to be nocturnal," he nudged towards his cat with a yawn. "-but after eight she's always quite grumpy."
And so, after a while, he fell asleep anyway- thankful that his strange day had ended in a strange way. All the less time for him to ruin it by letting his mind wander.

The morning
Scott Alexander didn't, however surprising it might sound to those who knew him as the orderly and organised boy he admittedly was, have all the schedules of the school memorised. For instance: he didn't know when the Slytherins his year, that is Alexx, had their classes for the day or where... He'd rather hoped to avoid orienting himself through their differing timetables by meeting her during breakfast, and to then make the quick hand-off of her pet (which had stuck happily to his shoulder all morning) in the Great Hall, but he hadn't been able to find the girl among the busy students... Now, as he had a free period before lunch, Scott had resorted to walking up and down the corridors and asking occasional students wether they had seen Miss Séverin themselves: "Slytherin, blonde hair, a pygmy puff- no, wait! No pygmy puff. That's the entire point."
But though nobody had, Scott caught sight of the third-year at last in about the same way he had her pet: shimmering through the corner of his eye.
"Alexx! Alexx."
Hurrying to catch up with the girl, and then lowering his voice so not to startle her, he knocked on Alexx' shoulder with a grin.
"I do believe I'm in possession of a fugitive."

Mademoiselle, Your Puff.
To be fair, Alexx expected for Rosalie to go on her fair share of "adventures". She knew that sometimes pets got out, let themself loose, and then Alexx would have to go and collect them. What Alexx didn't expect was for Rosalie to absolutely and utterly hate her, in every sense of the word "hate". The pink ball of fluff seemed to prefer almost anyone over her, and it meant that Alexx would have to go off looking for her companion every time she went astray.
She had spent a little bit of time searching for Rosalie before class, hoping that she wouldn't be a requirement for any Transfiguration lessons, but it was to no avail. She carried on throughout her day, eyeing the corridors near the usual hiding spots of the pygmy puff, but again, she was left disappointed, not finding her closest friend anywhere. She used "closest friend" rather lightly, as it didn't appear to go both ways.
Nevertheless, being stopped in the halls by Scott was almost thrilling. "I hope, for my sake, that the fugitive is a one Reid Kovacs. That damn oversized piece of pocket lint loves him like a cat loves catnip, but I've seen to lost both." Though, she didn't think Scott was the type to kidnap a peer. She would probably need to contact Erin Ryan for kidnapping affairs.
chill babe. we're all bad in someone's story.

[quote]"Huh? Oh, Reid. I'm afraid I can't actually help you with that one... Where Hufflepuffs come and go has never quite settled for me. I think they appear and disappear more like dreams than anything else." Scott chuckled, and tilted his head forwards and towards the Slytherin in order to let the small, pink creature creep out from where she'd been hiding behind his neck. He was glad Alexx didn't seem at all too worried at least... That was good. He'd wished to have seemed more rushed, if she was.
So Reid was another one of Rosalie's favourites... Scott wondered, did she prefer most anyone over Alexx? Not that he was suggesting a low bar, since he'd like to think both he and his boss' friend were worthy companions, but perhaps her calling her a oversized piece of lint had something to do with it...
"I meant this girl, actually, won't you believe. Very sneaky... And though she has proven herself to be more than great company for these last couple of hours, do you mind taking her back? Her fur is tickling my ear."
Snickering, he grabbed Rosalie with his right hand and heaved her over his head, holding her up before him and for Alexx to see. With his left, he then began to compulsively straighten his hair out again as the movement (as well as the animal) had ruffled it. Truly the only downside to her fellowship.
"I swear I didn't take hear. I never steal on purpose. But if you ask me how she got in the Gryffindor Tower, well, then I won't be able to tell you... But my guess is on that she climbed the outer walls.
You know, like a spider."
Scott smiled, and was beginning to realise just how convenient this had all been for him. He'd asked for a distraction, after all... And now he was sort of sorry to let it go. But he reminded himself that Alexx was his friend, too.
"So you've lost Reid? Well. Can Hufflepuffs climb walls, too? Might want investigate this before we rule any places out."
