How exactly Blake ended up on the second floor was beyond him as he trekked hastily past the flickering torches lining the hall. He opened the small map his sister had dutifully drawn him while they sat side-by-side in the library. Maggie had been excited to sit with him and hear all about how he was adjusting to life as a RavenClaw and he had happily obliged, sitting with her in a quiet nook and peppering her with questions while she filled in her charms homework. Now he regretting not allowing her to walk him back to his common room.
"You just go....up?"He shook his head with a sign as even his thoughts became as muddled and confused as he felt. If he was lucky he could maybe turn around and still find his way back to towards the HufflePuff common room and hope someone was around to get Maggie out of her bed. They looked enough alike that anyone looking at the shaggy-haired, lean lad would know almost instantly that he was Maggie's kid-brother if they had ever seen Maggie. With their matching dark hair and pale blue eyes, the family resemblance was uncanny.
"Maybe it's up ahead, I think I've been heading west down this hall. I hope so anyway.."he exhaled quickly, his breath whistling through his clenched teeth. At this rate he would only just be getting back to his bed when it was time for breakfast! Up ahead, footsteps started faintly before slowly growing louder. Blake froze.
"Is it a professor? a Perfect? a ghost or..."his thoughts trailed off as he picked up his pace, spotting an alcove big enough to duck into until the passerby had left. As he neared a sharp bend, the figure emerged.
The passerby, clearly a student, was hurrying in the opposite direction with their head bent intently over a small scrap of parchment. Blake almost felt dizzy with relief, believing he must be close to the West Tower and had crossed paths with a RavenClaw leaving the common room. He stepped forward quickly, holding his own small and crude map away in his pocket.
"Uhh sorry to bug ya but can ya point me in the direction of our common room?" He called, his voice wavering ever so slightly. His voice sounded loud and wobbly in his own ears, the quiet mystique of the corridor at once ruined by his call. The poor student was given a fright by his sudden outburst and jumped noticeably, their head shooting up to scan the hall they had clearly believed they had been alone in before their gaze came to rest on Blake who stood in the middle of the hall a few meters away. This was when he noticed the green collar on the robe of the student and his mouth snapped shut. Not a RavenClaw as he had hoped. A Slytherin. A shiver passed through Blake as he took a tentative step backwards.
"oh..err....uhh...nevermind! Sorry," he called, his voice an octave higher and more breathless then he had intended as the shock began to wear off and he felt ready to head back to find Maggie. This adventure would have to wait until day light. The figure hurried in his direction and Blake stood stock-still as she approached with a crudely sketched map of her own clutched in her tense hands.
"A-are you turned around too?"He asked cautiously, feeling in his pocket for his own map hoping to maybe find some clarity about his surroundings as she drew close enough to talk to properly since yelling in the hall felt horribly impolite.
Sorry this took so Long! I got side tracked but here it is

Slytherin dorm - 8:17 am
Such a beautiful morning. It was such a beautiful morning. But when Wren told me he wanted to spend the day with these dorm mates, it had become an awful, boring, and gloomy morning. Tying my hair in a high ponytail, I was annoyed to feel some hair still hanging around my neck. I removed the annoyed rubber band and left them untied. I looked bad, so I brushed my hair, a little water on my face, and put on my uniform.
Corridors - 8:29 a.m.
I felt like crying. Wren, that was it for me, my life, my blood, my oxygen. My twin, what. And I had been so used to spending time with him that it seemed impossible to be away from him. Fortunately, he had promised to eat with me and Ander at noon, and this evening too, so it was still fine. And I had to find the largest at the morning break. My two brothers shared their rooms, to their delight, but I knew that I would be forced to share that of Ashley in two years. Fortunately, Tessa would be there too, and our cousins. But I was reassured by the idea of being with them this evening. We also had to send a letter to our parents, and I knew it would take a long time.
- "Uhh sorry to bug ya but can ya point me in the direction of our common room?"
I turned around quickly. A Ravenclaw.
- I don't know where it is, you must have been wrong, sorry.
As he left, he finally turned around.
- "A-are you turned around too?"
- Actually no, I already know the area well.

"Oh,"Blake exhaled, a feeling of relief overshadowing the wary cation he had initially felt.
"Atleast if she knows the way, I can find my way to the West Tower and not spend anymore time wandering around,"he reasoned with himself as he inhaled deeply and opened his mouth once again.
"Are you headed somewhere in the west half of the castle by chance? I can find my way from the dinning hall I think I just can't seem to remember how to get there.."He trailed off lamely, almost painfully aware of how he must look lost and confused, wandering around. He tensed his shoulders slightly, expecting some kind of rude remark or snarky frown and attempted to relax. This Slytherin didn't seem horrible mean, not like the others he had encountered. He shivered slightly, remembering what a great mess he had made over the summer holidays with his cousins as a younger child. Two of his cousins, Marie and George, had been sorted into Slytherin and had come to visit his Da in Melrose for a week. Blake had been thrilled at the prospect of seeing his cousin's again, whom he hadn't seen since he was a very young lad at a family event in Aberdeen. The week had no gone smoothly, with neither of his cousin's being half as fun as he recalled and almost twice as smug. After that experience, despite Maggie and his mum trying to assure him not all Slytherin's acting like that, he had decided he didn't want much to do with a Slytherin again.
"And yet,"he thought, "Here I am counting on one to lend me a hand," he found himself holding his breath in silence as waited to see if she would offer him any kind of help.
