The booming sound of the bells indicates the end of Defense Against the Dark Arts lesson for the day. Finally! Some students exclaim, as others only sigh in relief. Unlike those students, Virgil sighs, disappointed as he grabs his parchments, shoving them inside his bag. Great, he thinks sourly, frownings as he gets up, now I have Transfiguration with Gryffindors...

The classroom, composed of Slytherins and Hufflepuffs, starts to leave. Following the rest of his classmates, Virgil makes his way in the sea of students. Two girls with shiny blonde hair and similar features, standing right next to him, arms crossed together, say something along the lines of "no more classes, lucky!", which makes him sulk even more.

After he ended up receiving a Poor in Transfiguration, Virge decided to give up entirely. He tried his best with his homework — always did, no matter the subject! But it was harder when he didn't know anyone that liked or, Merlin, even understood it! Not only that, but it only made things more complicated when the words from the book only served to confuse him even more.

Virgil steps out of the class, absolutely despising how everyone laughed and smiled, so excited about their free evening. Sulking some more, he peeks a look at the sky — ah, it's a great day too! He thinks, frowning. His father used to say that he looked a lot like his mother whenever his expression closed and that they both were very scary.

The sky was a dark grey, threatening to start a storm, just like a few days ago. More than anyone else, Virgil loved the rain, so if he didn't have to go all the way to the fifth floor to have Transfiguration, he'd sit down close to the grounds and do his homework, relaxing as the cold wind hugged him over the dark school robes...

"Tch..." Virgil mumbles to himself, sounding exactly like his grumpy uncle Jay, very displeased and sour. "Not today."

Robin left the class with a skip. What an exciting day it has been! Defense Against the Dark Arts was such an exciting class! She couldn't wait to learn more. As she left the class, she heard her fellow students talk and giggle. Though she hadn't met many people since entering Hogwarts, she was envious of the shared laughs. As she exited the room, she looked up at the sky and smiled. Robin loved the rain. It was always relaxing to hear the raindrops and the thunder roar. She wished she was in her dorm so she could lay in her bed while the rain poured, but Robin needed to start studying and start on her homework. Robin sighed.

"Well, maybe it will rain tonight!" Robin thought to herself. She closed her eyes and gave a silent wish. She started to turn and walk and saw a boy in the crowd of kids walking. He seemed to be looking up at the sky as well. She couldn't tell what he was thinking but she hoped he was okay. He seemed sort of displeased. Robin wasn't sure if she should go up to him and ask if he was okay or continue walking. Robin stood there, scratching her arms nervously as she tried to choose an option. She turned away, realizing she was staring and looked back up at the dark sky.

"Look natural. Don't be weird." Robin softly said. She was good at making friends, but everyone gets nervous sometimes. Especially if someone looks unhappy. Anything could go wrong. Robin sighs as she goes through every possibility in her head.

"Okay. Just walk casually. Stop being nervous." Robin though then nodded. She turned abruptly and started taking slow steps towards the way she needed to go. Robin nodded a little to herself. Relaxing when she heard a little rumble in the sky.

As he grumpily mumbles to himself about how unlucky he is, Virgil notices someone staring at him from the corner of his eyes. There are a lot of people in the corridor, as students make their way to their classrooms or just walk around with his friends, but he can tell it's the girl that seems to be talking to herself.

The girl has wavy blonde hair that matches her house colors — Hufflepuff, he notices as she seemed to have just left the same classroom as him. Virgil hadn't noticed her during the lesson, but maybe it's because he avoids looking at everyone else, not wanting to make awkward eye contact or anything.

He shrugs, unbothered and turns to go towards the Transfiguration classroom, as, out of nowhere, a third-year from Gryffindor runs past him, his shoulder crashing right against Virgil's chest, making him fall down, with a soft "hey!" escaping his mouth. The Gryffindor doesn't even stop running, yelling "Sorry!" as he disappears in the sea of students.

"Tch, great," Virgil bites out, even grumpier now as his chest complains about the impact. He runs his hand over it, trying to ease the pain. Of course, he's small and rather fragile looking — I wouldn't be surprised if I turned out to have, I don't know, broken a rib or whatever.

Robin watches as a kid knocks the boy over. She gasps and puts a hand on her mouth. She rushes over to him.

"Oh my gosh, are you okay?" Robin says sticking a hand out. Robin glanced up to watch the culprit run away.

"What a jerk." Robin thought. Robin was taught to never say mean things out loud but she really wanted to yell it out to the Gryffindor boy. She looked back down at the boy on the ground.

"You look like your in serious pain. We should get you to the nurse. Can you walk?" Robin asks. Her hand was still extended out. She hoped he wasn't too hurt. She mentally slapped her forehead.

"I should've realized the boy coming from behind me was going to bump into him." Robin thought. The Gryffindor boy almost bumped into her but she moved out of the way before he could also knock her down.

"I'll help you. Just take my hand." Robin smiled at the boy.

"Oh, I-I'm fine," Grabbing the girl's hand, Virgil says, forcing himself to get up. He hisses quietly touching his chest — it hurts, but not as much as before. It's gonna be alright, I should be used to bumping into people by now, he thinks, I have to get to class... He huffs, pretending to be perfectly fine as he runs his fingers through his hair. "There's no need to go to the Hospital Wing. Don't worry."

And it's true — honestly, there's no need to worry. Even though, he's fragile-looking, Virgil's neven broken any bones other than his wrist when he was nine. But even that required him to fall from his aunt's broom — they were really high up in the sky. And going really fast, too.

Upclose, he can see the Hufflepuff's face a little better; she has brown eyes and a few freckles scattered across her face. Unlike many other students, such as Isaac, the girl doesn't look familiar. She looks like a mix between worried and guilty, or so he thinks — he isn't that great at reading people. Virgil lets go of her hand, realizing he's still holding it.

"Sorry, uh," he laughs, hoping he doesn't look as embarrassed and awkward as he feels, playing with his hair, turning it into a dark mess. Avoiding eye-contact, Virgil adds, thankful that he doesn't stutter or anything as embarrassing, "And thanks for the help..."

He prolongs the sentence, giving her a look, waiting for her to say her name.

"Robin!" She replies with a smile. She drops her hand to her side and gives a bright smile to the boy. She watches as he runs a hand through his hair.

"Also no problem! The fall seemed painful though, but if you're sure that you are fine then that's good." She says looking up and down the boy making sure he wasn't hiding any broken bones or anything that would have to be fixed. When Robin was sure he wasn't dying anytime soon, she sighed. She did not need any classmates dying on her watch.

The rumble in the sky seemed to be getting closer and wanted to start walking inside soon. Though Robin loved the rain, she wasn't fond of getting wet. Especially with her paper and books in her bag. Robin made no attempt to move. If she had a chance of making a friend and getting to know someone, she will just have to suffer through it. She just hoped he will want to talk to her in the warmth and dry area inside. Plus her next class was inside and Robin also wasn't fond of being late to a class.

"So where are you headed?" Robin asks.

He doesn't miss the loud rumble that crossed the now darker sky, and quickly, looking up, Virgil takes a few steps towards the entry, worried the rain might break on top of them — truly what he needed today. As much as he adores rain, he doesn't want to get wet today.

Robin seems to notice too, but she doesn't make an attempt to move, as she asks where he's headed.

"Transfiguration. You?" answers Virgil with a sigh, letting all the grumpiness he's feeling escape through his words, as his expression closes. He looks like one of those common muggles drawings — where a sad or angry character has a dark cloud on top of their heads. Hopefully, he doesn't look as whiny as he feels and, if he does, that the Hufflepuff girl, Robin, doesn't notice.

"I'm Virgil, by the way. A pleasure to meet you," He adds, bowing shortly, stopping himself before it can be a 90-degree bow, like the ones he's used to doing to older people. I need to stop doing this... He thinks to himself. People might think I'm weird.

Some second-year Ravenclaws leave the corridors, walking together on the Grounds towards the greenhouses, about to have Herbology lessons. Happy to be able to protect himself from the rain, Virgil walks back inside, hoping Robin is following him so he doesn't look rude or anything like that.

Robin follows quickly after Virgil. Once she gets to his side she slows down, silently thanking him for walking inside. She noticed that he didn't seem to want to go to Transfiguration but didn't want to point that out.

"I'll walk with you if that's okay! I have that class too! Maybe we can sit together?" She askes beaming at him as they walk in the corridor. She slides away from the students that walked a little too close to her. The more they walk, the louder it gets from the students.

"I'm not the most excited about this class. Though it seems fine, I really just want to do potions or dark arts again." She says to Virgil trying to make some sort of conversation.

"What class are you most excited about? I know a lot of people probably hate the idea of classes but everyone has a favorite." She asks. Robin didn't want to seem like a blabbermouth but once she started, it was hard to stop. Robin just really liked getting to know people and their perspectives on things.

As she waited for his reply, Robin people watched. She passed many people huddled in small groups laughing and chatting. At least she wasn't walking to class alone as she did before. She felt so alone when she did that. Now she felt more relaxed and less insecure. She felt fewer stares then before even if it was her imagination making the stares up. She smiles a little to herself while Virgil answers.

"Uh, Transfiguration is the only subject I really don't like, but Defense Against the Dark Arts and Charms are definitely, so far, the most fun, I guess," he says, walking by Robin's side, ignoring the way their shoulders occasionally brush, actually giving too much thought for the simple question.

The Charms professor, Professor Vernatis, was definitely his favorite since he gave off a cool and calm look, compared to most other professors — and his method of teaching really resonated with Virgil, which made the subject way more interesting. The Defense professor was also calm, but she seemed more reserved and serious, and, honestly, Virgil's sort of scared of her. It's silly, but he can't help but feel that she'd crush him like a mere insect if he did something wrong. Then again, he may be wrong, and Professor Sky might turn out to a lovely person.

"I also like History of Magic. A lot, actually! I don't get where all the hate for this subject comes from." Virgil adds, with a simple shrug, remembering the many times his cousins complained about how awfully boring the subject was. "The homework is simple to do, too!" He makes messy hand gestures, as it to help explain how he feels, and Virgil sure sounds a little bit passionate about it. "If you pay attention to the lesson, you have all the information you need, you know. It's easy! I swear some students can be very lazy, at times."

Rolling his eyes, Virgil notices how much of a nerd he sounds, and he blushes a little, coughing, as he looks the other way, trying to hide his red face. He lets out an awkward laugh, "Sorry, I got a little carried away..."

Robin listened intensely to what Virgil was saying. She notices how he brightened when talking about his favorite subject, History of Magic. She smiled as he carried on with why it was his favorite. Though Robin wasn't a fan of history, hearing what he said about the class made her want to sit in the class and learn.

"No don't apologize at all! I liked hearing what you said about the class. It is making me appreciate it a little more!" Robin smiled at him. "To be honest with you, I not a huge fan of history but maybe you can help me understand it more someday!"

Robin tucks a hair behind her ear and gives a soft little hum to herself. She liked talking to Virgil. He seemed really smart and kind. Though they just met, Robin felt comfortable around him.

"So what's being a Slytherin like? I have heard many good and bad things. My mother had a many Slytherin friends and always told me not to judge based on things others said. I feel bad for you Slytherins though but us Hufflepuffs get talked about too if that makes it better." Robin said quickly. She realized she was just spitting out words but she felt passionate about stopping rumors and bullying and couldn't stop. It was true that once Robin was sorted into Hufflepuff, she knew there was a chance of rumors about the house traits but she was proud to be Hufflepuff and hopes Virgil was proud to be sorted to. Maybe it was also a family tradition.
