Dear Papa Badger!

I tried to paint my letter of appreciation to you on one of the walls in the school so everyone who passed by could be reminded of how incredible you are. But for some strange reason, I was told by a prefect that such things would be ‘against the rules’ or something. Can you believe it? Stifling my artistic vision, the audacity! But I wasn’t going to let that keep me from writing to my favorite papa badger that has ever been a papa badger.

I have so much to thank you for, I made a list but then something must have eaten it because I cannot find it for the life of me! Speaking of life, I really owe you mine. You and Professor Snekky Jensen were the ones brave enough to save me and the Tebo from whatever was attacking us down in the basement. Now, not to scold the safety parameters of the school that allows a series of serious life-threatening events to go on with no seeming attempts to prevent them… But regardless of that, I am so grateful that I can rely on you to keep us safe once the chaos does begin.

You help keep our little badger den such a happy and welcoming place. Just the other day, Ethen dropped a ton of cupcakes and made a huge mess in the common room because I jumped on him and you didn’t even ever scold us. Sure no one else was around, so I am not sure anyone would have known. But I am pretty sure that even if you did know, you would have just smiled at us and done a little badger dance!

Now I know you don’t have ‘favorites’ but I do want to deeply thank you for letting us have your favor to force General Jensen into helping us save the school from lava. The pictures of her stumbling and wobbling her way across the tabletops is something that never fails to make me laugh. It was a favor well spent and I know you wouldn’t give that to just any crazy badger. So don’t worry, I will keep it a secret that I am your favorite. Shhh, no one has to know!

But before I continue to ramble on about all the things we break and trust me that is A LOT of stuff… Like if you knew all the things in the common room that we have broken… Or all of the things we have spilled… or all of the things that we get in trouble for and say that you told us to do (that excuse works every time)... Oh, I am rambling again, I am just so excited to be talking to the big fluffy Papa Badger. But I know you are very very busy doing all that ‘work’ you say you have around the castle (I know you are probably sneaking cookies or something). So I just want to finish this by saying that I love everything you do and am so happy that you will be there watching over me in my second home.

Your Favorite Chaotic Badger,
Lieutenant Reid

Dear Mr. Headmaster Sir Professor Master Grandpa Sage Lear!

I just want to start by saying that you are so amazing and I could never express how much I appreciate everything you have done. Hogwarts has become my second home and I know I have you to thank for that. For making this place such an incredible and welcoming place. If I ignore all of the near-death experiences over my short time here, this place has been nothing but incredible. I never thought I could love a school so much but you have made this entire place just feel like one massive family. I know it has to be hard work but I am so thankful that we have someone looking out for us like you.

And you know, if you were ever looking for help on how to make this place even more amazing. I would definitely be a great help...maybe. Like you know how if a student paints on the walls they will get a detention. Or if you have like an impromptu game of dodge book in the library you get detention… Well, I was thinking that maybe, just maybe, those wouldn’t have to be cause for detention. I mean even it is supposedly against the rules to bury our peers on the grounds while acting like bandits. I just don’t know if all of these ‘rules’ are necessary. I appreciate the thought but I think maybe we could figure out a much better system.

OR! Or um if you wanted, I can be your official prefect checker. I will do all sorts of amazing types of mischief... I am talking geese in potions class or sudden trumpet marches in the library kinds of mischief. And when the prefects chase me down and catch me, I can let them know that I was just checking if they were paying attention for you. That way I don’t get detention and you can be sure your prefects are always on their toes! I think it is a win-win and I would definitely appreciate it!

But even if you don’t let me spread chaos with impunity, I want you to know that I still think you are amazing. I love every time I see you around and don’t even think you are smelly. You keep this crazy place running and keep it as a big happy family and it makes me so excited to be at school. All during summer I was just waiting to get back here! So thank you for making these next years so incredible, I know those that follow will only get better!

Admiral Browne,

I hope this correspondence finds you in good health. The Great War has claimed many and it is my fear and the fear of my men that it has no end in sight. But your continued support has begun to abate many of those fears. Knowing your vessels are at the ready to provide covering fire has allowed us to get the first bit of sleep in god knows how long…

We are dug in just outside El Bosque Prohibido as the locals call it. We are holding the line best we can but supplies are limited. We went through the last of the biscuits just this morning and as the sun begins to set I know our rations will be stretched to their limits. But your valiance keeps us going. I promise you that your mere presence alone gives the men and women an aura of invincibility. The legends of your hard-fought battles and your continued success on the naval front give us hope that this war and this battle may be turning in our favor.

Just the other day, I overheard a young private sitting in their foxhole and sipping at butterbeer spinning a tale about having seen you on the bow of a ship once. It brought a smile to my withered face immediately. I recalled the first time I saw you while I was just a Lieutenant in the academy. Even then you moved with an air of confidence and prestige that I hoped to emulate. Little did I know that I would find myself truly in debt to you for your continued support. Without you, I have no doubt that the remainder of my battalion would be at the mercy of the elements and our enemy.

Thankfully, however, the Revolutionary Badger Battalion still has its fighting spirit. No matter the odds, we remain bonded together and ready to fall in the defense of the line. Each of us knows that you need us just as much as we need you. We will not fail you, Admiral! We anticipate the enemy will make another push under the cover of darkness, we will be ready. With all we have learned from your leadership and your tactical brilliance, it wouldn’t matter if all we had left was a few sticks and mudpies...we would find a way to preserve.

All this to say. We thank you, Admiral Browne. We thank you for everything you have done to keep this battalion of bumbling brash and bleating badgers booming boundlessly to a greater future. You continue to inspire me and my comrades each day. Just know that we are always here should you need us and we are ready to jump at your command.

Sir Solomon Lear,

Greetings Headmaster Lear, we are happy to be writing to you this fine fall day. I am Major Ethen Emrys of the Allied Revolutionary Forces and under the combined command of Admiral Browne and General Jensen. I am sure you have no doubt heard of our noble cause and great struggle, so I will not go into deep detail about the eternal struggle that is sure to consume all the land… But we have taken note...many notes to be precise. A whole book of notes based on the last reports of our informants.

It has come to our attention that you have continued the management of this exemplary institution of Hogwarts in one of the most difficult times mankind has ever faced. Your cunning and tact coupled with keen intellect are clear to us of the movement and we have developed a deep admiration for your continued achievement. Under your guidance, you have cultivated the finest institution my eyes have ever seen and each of our informants attests to your remarkable leadership. I fundamentally believe, as do my comrades, that your leadership is beyond exemplary and is an exhibition of excellence.

Those within the institution appear to act more like a close-knit family than a loose conglomerate of students. Hogwarts has transcended beyond a mere place of education to a second or even primary home for many of its inhabitants. It is a place of safety, admiration, tranquility, and friendship. The bonds between each soul within those walls seem impossibly and unyieldingly powerful. They are a continued testament to what you have been able to create and maintain. It is no small feat to do and it is my deepest honor to acknowledge all of the excellence that you have fostered.

Beyond that, the revolution could use leadership such as yours in the great cause. So not only do I wish to thank you for providing unrivaled safety, friendship, and education to the next generation. But I would also like you to know that the revolution now looks to you as our defacto Field Marshal. We could never dream of a more able commander and have no doubt you will continue to provide a brighter future to each of us. It is with admiration and deep affection that I salute you, Marshal Lear.

Letter #3 | To Professor @Hjørdis Jensen | WC: 424
General Jensen,

It is funny what something so simple can evoke. I found myself out on patrol near the Black Lake with a fair amount of troops this evening. With each tentative and cautious step, I found my boots sinking deeper in the treacherous mud. Just a week prior we had praised the mud for stifling the advance of the bourgeois forces who were unaccustomed to the vile soil. How quickly that praise turned into irritated curses as we became bogged down ourselves. But it reminded me. Reminded me of a time I found myself neck-deep in boiling lava knowing that the fate of the world rested in the hands of a young upstart officer and the best damn general we have ever seen.

There is no semblance of words I could ever assemble that would begin to illuminate the depths of appreciation and admiration I have for you. It seems that no matter the struggle or danger, I find myself in your debt or being saved by you. No matter the ferocity of the conflagration or savagery of our foes, you display unparalleled bravery and skill. You have been a paragon of kindness and remain the truest illustration of cunning I have been able to behold. If each of those under my command had a semblance of your tact, this war would be well finished and through with.

Each day that this great struggle drags on, I know our comrades feel the weight of war and I fear their morale wavers. But even the smallest glimpse of your glory breathes new life into them. It is then that I know I am witnessing a true leader. One who will undoubtedly lead us to victory. I only hope that I can continue to serve you well. You always will have me and my battalion ready and able at your command!

Despite being temporarily burned alive under your command, I have always admired everything you do. At times even a fearsome badger must learn from the cunning serpent and you offer so much to learn from. As my troops get ready for the next push on the path to revolution, we will remember your valiant greatness. We will remember your bravery and all that you have done for us. We will remember the pictures of you scrambling over tabletops for the greater good! No force could ever dream to have a better general. From down here in the mud and grime, we thank you for everything you do.

General Jensen!

With this being a time of appreciation, I could think of no one better to show my deep deep appreciation to other than my favorite general. In fact! I wanted to make sure that you really felt as appreciated as possible. So remember those pictures of you I took where you were bravely climbing on desks and chairs to avoid the lava in our great mission to save the school? Well, I know you were a bit embarrassed by those but I also know that they really inspire others and would be a perfect way to gain new loyal recruits!

The Major and I spent much of the day handing out flyers with those pictures on them to show everyone in the school your bravery! They seemed super well received and we are hopeful that it will bring in a slew of recruits! Each time we handed one out, the potential cadet erupted in excited laughter. We thought that was a good sign. They were so excited to join the effort that they couldn’t hold back their excitement and it is all thanks to you General! We even started posting them outside of the classrooms just in case we missed anyone. We thought it was important that absolutely everyone saw how brave you were!

You have always been there for us and shown us true bravery to follow. I truly hope that when I am as old as you that I am ever remotely as impressive as you are. Even as just a young Lt. I know that you are something special and I will do all that I can to emulate what you accomplish. Each time I need saving it seems that you are right there ready to spring in like some sort of crazy wild tuna! Passing out those flyers of you climbing on the desks made me feel like I was really helping out the cause. I don’t know who could see that and not be ready to jump into the fight.

Despite being a General, your continued warmth and kindness to us lower officers and common soldiers means the world to us. Around you we only ever feel inspired to copy and learn from you in all that you do. Despite being a cunning serpent we all can see the deep loyalty and kindness that rests in your heart. It is a badger-like spirit that we can all rally behind, no doubt your continued relations with the Admiral must be contributing to this. But everything you do continues to make us feel appreciated and there are many smiling faces around Hogwarts who are equally brightened by everything you do for us.

Thank you so much for everything you do for us General. It is such an incredible honor to be under your command and I know that you and the Admiral will lead us to victory soon! This little Lieutenant will remain your deepest admirer and I am always ready if you need some back up out there!

Fourth Letter
Saturday, Nov 7th 2020

Cash had just been emerged from a place that only their kind know where it is Chamber of Secret. Holding their journal in their left hand and their writing equipments in their black sweatpants pockets. Since winter will approach Scotland Highland, the green eyes wear a black crown shape beanie on top of their head and their house pride sweater that their mother knitted and sent some time ago.

They run up towards where Slytherin dorm located and hurriedly grabbed one of their empty parchment. The green eyes then climbed up the many stairs of the castle have and approached the classroom that they did for the couple past days between classes and free periods. Cash entered the room and straight away took one of the unoccupied chair.

The second year then took out their writing equipments from their pocket and thankfully all of their writing equipments stay in tact. Un-scroll their fresh parchment, dip their quill into the black ink and start writing their fourth letter.

Dear Professor Kibitzer,

I do not think that you know me but we met last year. I was one of the participant for your Relay Race last year with Lizzie Verdine and Mars T'ien. The three of us had fun with your relay. Your relay definitely challenge us as many of us are witches and wizard who from day to day use magic in their daily life.

Your relay challenge us in a good way. If you have an errand like that in the future, can I help you around? Maybe like spread the news around the castle or be your assistant. This letter as a thank you and as an apology too. Thank you for making my last year colorful. You and alongside your colleague definite challenge us both creatively and physically.

Why I say this as an apology too? I know I have not done you wrong but Henry Knight did. He is my best mate and I am kind of feel responsible to apologize to you on behalf of him. I know he said something hurtful back in the Field Day event and maybe annoyed you and your colleague but it does not justify his action.

If whatever he said hurt you in any form and way, I want to apologize to you. And I do not think that Divination is faulty. In fact, I think it kind wicked that you teach that subject. Oh! I heard from the grapevine that milling around the castle, it is said that you can predict the future? If you can teach me more that what you teach in Divination, I will forever be grateful to you or maybe this is a talent thing?

Either way I can not wait to get to know you more and attend Divination next year.

Stay wicked, Prof!

Best Regards,

Phoenix Cassandra Ironwoods
Cash re-read their letter again and in their own opinion was decent enough. And so they fold it into the black envelope, sealed it with their initial on the back of the envelope and walked up to where the fourth year situated himself. "Four down, one to go"They said as they put down the letter on the table. Cash throw a warm smile to Alan and turned around.

The grabbed their writing equipments that laid on the table, collected it and walked out from the room. Writing a string of letters definitely therapeutic and calm their mess inner turmoil.

Dear professor Jemari,
I'm Rohan, the keeper of the Ravenclaw team, and I would like to thank you for all the great flying lessons. I want to start by saying that I think you are a good flyer and you are excellent in teaching us, the always not-too-good-listening students.

My first lesson ever, not too long ago (just a few months), was really exciting. I was also a little terrified because I had seen people fall of their brooms and getting hurt quite badly, but luckily you told us all how to fly properly, without hitting trees.

What I also really enjoyed, were the lessons about how broomsticks developed through the ages. One of my ancestors once made their own broom, but that wasn't a succes. I am planning to maybe, if when I graduate, make brooms myself. My dream is to become either a star Quidditch player (preferrably in the Appleby Arrows team) or craft and sell brooms.

I really want to say that I appreciate your effort put into lessons, and you're also quite good at keeping the class quiet. You're also the one who made me feel confident enough to apply for the Quidditch team, in which I now happily fly!

Thanks a lot,
Rohan Fog (1st year, Ravenclaw)

Dear Professor Jensen,

Hi. I'm not entirely sure if you remember me, but I'm Juniper Yu, first year. I came to your office because I felt homesick my friend felt homesick and needed advice. I really appreciate what you said to me - it helped my friend a lot and I'm happy to report that they're doing better. I hope your friend will be ok too... maybe they should heed your advice as well.

Thank you for being such an amazing head of house! My old school in London has a houses system too, but unless students have had family members in one particular house, they'll be sorted randomly. Plus, the HoH's are nowhere as nice as they are here. Mine was quite nasty, honestly, so it was a bit of a relief to find out that everyone here is so lovely, especially you. Your presence has helped me feel more welcome not only in Slytherin House, but in Hogwarts.

I think it's important for you to know that a lot of people view you as a mother figure, especially those in Slytherin. Although I've only been here two months, I already look up to you a lot and admire you. Thank you for being such a great role model for us. Great role models can be hard to find.

This sounds very much like a Christmas card, doesn't it? It certainly feels that way. Only it's November and I actually mean the words I'm saying - or rather, writing. I hope this letter makes you smile! Once again, for the ten millionth time in this letter, thank you so much for doing what you do. You make Hogwarts a better place.

Sincerely,
Juniper A. Yu

Addressed to @Cypresse Lian.

Dear Professor Lian,

I'd like to thank you for being such an incredible professor and having such an interesting class! Transfiguration is one of my favourite subjects, partly because of how it relates to science. I attended an ordinary Muggle school before Hogwarts and science was always my favourite, so it's a little easier for me to understand. Not only that, I also feel delighted every time I hear something I recognise during your classes. Transfiguration can be hard, but you make it so much fun, and it's become the highlight of my day.

You're a really great teacher. You're funny and interesting to listen to, and super sharp and quick witted, which is something I really admire. I almost never get bored during your classes, and I love how Transfiguration is both fun and informative at the same time. It's hard to process how complicated it can be sometimes, and just thinking about how it all works used to hurt my brain, but with your teaching I'm starting to understand it properly now.

I couldn't imagine Transfig being taught by anyone else. I really appreciate all that you do for us students and I hope you stay on as professor for a long, long time. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Juniper A. Yu
