Errand Smells like death Finished

Upon opening the letter she had received from Gargott, Lana grimaced and half considered throwing it away immediately. Despite her efforts, her so lovingly mother swooped down and read it as well, causing Lana to groan. Her mother insisted she fix something up, as this was a perfect opportunity to "learn her way around the kitchen." Why she needed to learn in the first place was beyond her, as what was the point if she had a house-elf anyway?

She walked solemnly into the kitchen, completely unsure on how to bake anything. For one, she found it pointless. Sweets were disgusting anyway, and secondly; she could quite literally just go purchase something and send it in.
Though for this she'd have to come up with a reasonable excuse to go into town, and Lana wasn't in the mood to produce such a lie. Instead, she approached the cabinets slowly, rummaging through any boxes that could result in the making of something. It didn't even have to taste good, it just had to look edible.

She knew her mother had a cookbook around here somewhere, though she wasn't really that invested to go looking for it. She then pulled down a few bags of flour, along with sugar and whatever else she could find.

Lana managed to come across a jar of black liquid and found it interesting enough, setting it down before her. Had she any idea what was in it? Not in the slightest, though that didn't stop her from adding it to the mixture anyway.
There was no specific recipe she was following, nor did she have any idea for her treat. It was a matter of guessing and throwing random ingredients together. She was aware it wouldn't end well, though she was much past that fact by now.

She coughed as she threw flour into her mixing bowl, the powder flying through the air. Dreadfully boring this was, she couldn't help but try and speed things up. She was aware her mother had a mixer, though where it was placed she had no idea.
Lana looked through more cabinets, throwing out things onto the floor to reach the back of them. Once she had found the hand mixer, the kitchen was a complete disaster. She disregarded it, figuring to leave it for Dala to clean up.

She set the mixer into the bown gently, though flicked the power up to nine. How idiotic of her, to put it on the highest setting. Everyone who's baked knows not to put it on the highest setting, so why she thought she'd be able to handle it is something even I cannot answer.
The batter flicked everywhere, splattering upon the kitchen counter and walls. She turned the machine off quickly, throwing it down forcefully.

Stupid errand, stupid baking.. She muttered angrily, grabbing the black liquid and pouring it into what was left of her batter. She stirred it a bit, the color changing from white to black in a matter of seconds.
Lana poured the contents of the bowl into a glass pan, only to then forcefully shove it into the oven. She knew it was going to be disgusting, though she wasn't the one having to eat it; therefore she had no remorse for doing such an awful job.

She decided to wait an hour, as that was how long it took for things to bake, right? She really had no clue, but she chose to take a wild guess like everything else she'd been doing thus far.
The smell filled the entire downstairs floor, the scent thick and potent. She watched their house-elf Dala scurry into the kitchen, though she figured it wasn't too much of an issue.

Thirty minutes passed, causing her to become suspicious. She hadn't seen Dala leave the kitchen, though she supposed she could have just apparated out. She didn't know why she couldn't have just walked out, though Dala was a weird sort of elf, causing Lana to shrug.

She walked into the kitchen quietly, a new baked good sitting freshly on the counter. She looked at it quizzically, unsure as to how such a perfected treat lie before her. There was a note lying next to the dish, causing Lana to grab it quickly. It all then clicked immediately; why Dala had stayed in here so long, how her monstrosity of a cake was gone. She had baked her a new one, leaving a small note to tell her so.

Dear Miss Monet,
I found your treat for Gargott in the oven, though I can most definitely assure you no reasonable person will be interested in it. I have taken the liberty of baking you a new one, hopefully it's good enough.

P.S. The black vial contained poison. Had I not intervened you would be a world of trouble right now.
