Snow fell lightly on the heads of the people in the crowd. Most were just milling around, trying to get somewhere warm. Two kids, however had stopped off to the side. They could easily have been mistaken for friends hanging out and not relatives. The only thing they shared was their brown doe eyes.

The girl had an obvious sense of style and her long blonde hair was slick back and straightened for once. The male's brown hair, although gelled, did not give off the same vibe of sophistication. Both wore obviously expensive outfits, but the girl seemed more proud of it. The male, however, seemed to have just pulled on whatever he could find.

They were waiting for their mothers to return from shopping. You know how mothers can get when shopping, especially with other mothers. Cute French baby clothes had been the item of choice for the blonde's mother. The brunette's mother had gone along to help, leaving the cousins behind to hang out.

Emile looked at his cousin as she reached a hand up to make sure her hair was still in place. He rolled his eyes slightly and looked away. "This snow is very pretty. I wonder what animals come out in Paris's winter. I haven't been to Paris in quite a while. I'm guessing you haven't either?" Liz shook her head, just giving him a scrunched up face in response to his attempted banter.

She picked up a chunk of snow and lobbed it at him, hitting him right in the face. She giggled with glee as he spluttered and shivered from the sudden cold. He smiled slightly and bent down to pick up snow to throw back.

He paused when he thought he caught a glimpse of someone familiar in the crowd. Someone He had been excited to get away from during break. It couldn't be. It just had to be someone that LOOKED like him. It wasn't actually him. Was it?

Now don't get him wrong, Emile recognized he was being manipulated or bullied by this male. But it was hard to care when he had a MASSIVE crush on Florian. He was just so effortless and pretty. I mean who could blame Emile, right? And it didn't help that Emile had given no thought to his sexuality before suddenly having a crush on a male. He was so confused. He didn't know what Florian's sexuality was, and even if he was into males, Emile knew that Florian would never like him. His crush had been dampened a bit by Florian acknowledging it at the dance and calling him pretty, in a condescending way. But it hadn't gone away, not by a long shot.

But it didn't matter. Florian wasn't here to ruin Emile's Christmas.

Right?

Christmas. New Years. Generally, Florian liked this time of year, but seeing as it was his first-ever break from Beauxbaton, he really just wanted to be back with his friends. But no. His parents wouldn't dare miss an opportunity to get their 'petit garcon' home for the holidays, so, unlike his older brothers, he was summoned home. It simply wasn't fair! He wanted to run off and stay with his friends as his older brothers did.

Florian signed as he trailed behind his mother, her high heels clicking almost violently on the Parisian streets. They were out shopping for their eveningwear for the Beckett Gala, the New Year's Eve event. Florian didn't really care, this ball was to be in London, with a bunch of Hogwarts students as well, and if that ball the school held and the people he met there meant anything, it was that the ball was to be... well... boring. Or at least rather... underwhelming. As such, he really didn't care much about his appearances, aside from his always perfectly gelled hair of course, and just threw on the first thing he could find. His mother, on the other hand, was dressed to the nines, as she did whenever they made any sort of outdoor appearance. His family was not only famous in the Wizarding World, but in the Muggle World as well, since they trained racehorses. It was common for her to get recognized by the most avid of horse racing fans, and she simply had to look the part at all times.

The boy sighed again as his mother peered through another store window, dragging the boy inside for a look. It was his job to tell her if what she tried on was flattering, and while generally, his mother was kind, clothing shopping brought out the worst in her. Luckily, he had already found his golden suit, which for some reason his mother had insisted on gold, and now it was time to find her dress. With a huff, Èlodie marched back out of the store after seeing nothing to her liking.

The second they stepped back out of the store, Florian saw him. Little Emile. What on earth was the boy doing here of all places? And at the exact same time? This time, Florian's mother followed his gaze to where the two students stood, and she immediately said, "Ahhhh, Florian, Friends of yours I trust?" and she began marching straight toward the pair before Florian could say anything else. And again, Florian trailed right behind his mother, for stopping her would be of no use.

They marched quickly up to the pair, his mother flashing her brightest smile, and Florian staring daggers at Emile, almost as a warning. 'Be nice, or else.' Florian's mother looked at the two and said, "Ahhhh, 'Allo, I am Èlodie LeRoy, Florian's mother. Florian, introduce me to your friends!"

Florian tried not to groan and said "Well, This is Emile LeDoux, he attends Beauxbaton's with me." He waved his hand politely at Emile. His attention turned to the girl, whom he had not met, but had a faint recognition of (a passing glance at the Fall Ball). Of course, his smile brightened a bit as he turned on his charming attitude for her. She was rather cute, but what was she doing with a guy like Emile?

He then waved to the young girl in the same manner and said "And this young lady, I have not have the pleasure of meeting before. I am Florian LeRoy, First Year Beauxbaton and a broom racer." He puffed up his chest a big, hoping to seem more important, way. "What is your name, mademoiselle? I don't believe I have seen you at Beauxbaton?"

Emile was going to gouge his eyes out, or maybe scream. How was Florian everywhere he went? He leveled a stare at Florian as his classmate, and he was assuming his mother, approached him. The woman was dressed very well as Emile expected from Florian's mother. But it seemed Florian hadn't put the same amount of effort into his outfit as he usually did. Emile gave him a smile.

His assumptions were soon proven correct when the woman introduced herself as Èlodie, Florian's mom. Emile smiled at her politely when Florian introduced him, but had to keep from gagging when the black-haired male started in on Liz. Liz did not seem bothered by this at all though.

She gave Florian a sweet smile and laugh at his use of mademoiselle. "Hello! My name is Elizabeth Isaacs. I am a Slytherin First Year at Hogwarts! I believe I saw you at the ball.", she leaned in closer and whispered low so that his mother couldn't hear, "I believe you're the one who punched my dear cousin in the gut? It was a beautiful sight and I will cherish that memory for the rest of my life. So thank you!" She pulled back and gave him an even wider smile.

Emile glanced between the two, not liking the look on his cousin's face. He shifted uncomfortably on his feet. "So Mrs. LeRoy your family trains racing horses, no? My father is an avid fan of horse racing and often attends the events in his free time. Your son never really talks about it, even though we hang out all the time! If you were my parents I wouldn't act like I was ashamed of you! I would be proud! Your job is so cool! How do you do it? Like how do you train the horses?" What had started out as a quest to embarrass Florian had quickly devolved into Florian avidly asking questions about the animals. He couldn't help it. It was his passion after all.

Liz watched him with an exasperated expression. She really didn't understand why he had to go and make everything so awkward. He always had to ask dumb questions about stupid animals. Yes, she had her interests, but she waited before she bombarded people with questions. She ran a hand through her long hair and turned her cocoa eyes to Florian and gave him a look in reference to Emile. She wanted Florian to understand that she was not like Emile in the slightest. She had class.

Florian's attention was now entirely fixed on the lovely girl in front of him. She had a sort of 'Je ne sais quoi' about her that instantly attracted Florian. Anyone with charisma and a smile like that was someone he would certainly want to befriend. What was concerning, however, was the fact that she was with... Emile. The little brat.

He was momentarily distracted from this when the girl introduced herself. 'Elizabeth Issacs... I will have to remember that name.' he thought to himself. She was at the ball too hmm? In all honesty, he was too wrapped up with his date, as well as a certain someone trying to interrupt him. Plus... they ended up leaving early anyway. That ball was such a waste.

He wasn't expecting the girl to lean in and whisper to him, but from that moment on he knew that he and Elizabeth Issacs were going to be great friends. He whispered back "Ah, the pleasure was all mine..." and he gave her a little wink as she pulled back.

His mother watched this little exchange with a certain fascination, and one could almost hear the gears turning in her head. "Ah, well Elizabeth, Emilie, it is a pleasure to meet you." It appeared she was getting ready to say something more when Emile began his little tirade about the family business. Of course, Florian was almost entirely uninterested in this. It wasn't him who would be inheriting the family business, so what did he care; he was last in a line of five. He sighed, perhaps a bit louder than intended, and his mother shot a sharp look at him. He instantly looked away, knowing it was not best to irritate his mother. Even if he was their 'petit garcon,' he could still get in trouble.

"Ahhh, mais oui!"* She smiled, as it was clear she loved to get this kind of attention. However, her face soured a bit as Emile continued on about how Florian rarely talked about it. Her smile did come back, however, as Emile asked how it worked.

"Well, technically speaking, myself nor my husband train the horses that go to the races." She looked at the boy in a contemplating manner. "My husband and I do have some personal horses that we train, but they are simply for our families enjoyment. My husband oversees most of the actual hired trainers and we do have a few family secrets on what we think is the best way to train them." She gave Emile a little wink. "I'm sure we could arrange for a tour someday, perhaps the both of you would want to come to Strasbourg for a visit, hmm?" Florian managed not to groan aloud as his mother said this, although it it was mostly because the promise of Elizabeth attending as well would actually make it a fun affair.

Florian added, "You could even take a ride on one of them if you wanted." He smiled at Emile, genuinely for once, although it was in the hopes that this could be something he could hold over the boys head; see just how much Emile would do in order to get a ride on a true racing horse. Oh, Florian was so bad.

Emile listened to the woman's response with fascination. His face lit up at the idea of being able to actually see and ride a real racing horse. His eyes darted between the two LeRoy's. He could not tell if Florian was joking, or if this was some sort of sick joke. Either way, he was basically vibrating at the ideas flooding his mind. Animals were his passion and he made bad decisions when it came to them. He would do anything to gain more information about them.

Elizabeth watched her cousin, an exasperated look on her face. She was embarrassed to be related to him, even though it didn't seem like Èlodie minded, and Florian had probably dealt with this before. Liz took a few small steps closer to Florian so that she could lean over and whisper something to him again. She knew that he and her were going to be good friends.

"Are you really going to let him do that? I mean, you can. But if it were me I would use that as blackmail. He will do anything to get to ride a racing horse. I, however, would love to visit sometime. I think we will be very good friends." She tugged at a piece of her hair as she spoke. Florian was obviously a girl oriented "man", and Liz would use this to her advantage as much as possible.

The two LeRoy's were blocking the view, so Liz and Emile had not seen their mothers approaching.

Liz looked a lot like her mother, both of them sharing many features like their heights, blonde hair, and large brown eyes. Ivory was dressed in a slinky green satin dress, flats, and a snake shaped upper arm band. The band was made of all diamonds and looked expensive. Ivory was a bit rounded in the middle, being around 4 months pregnant at this point. As she approached, one of her hands was placed absentmindedly on her stomach. Both women shared full faces of make-up, albeit a bit different. Ivory had focused more on her eyes and Noelle more on her cheeks and lips.

Noelle shared did not share the same features as her Cousin-in-Law or Liz. She was tall and thin, her pale face was highlighted by her sharp cheek bones. Her eyes were a light sky blue and her chocolate hair was pulled back into a curly ponytail. A few strands had escaped and fell into her face luxuriously in the way only a woman of power could pull off. Her dress was accented by the overly large boat hat that was secured to her head by a black bow under her chin.

Ivory looked a bit confused at the two new arrivals to their little party. The two women joined the rest of the group. Noelle held a few bags in her arms. "Emi... who are these two? Friends of one of yours?" Noelle questioned. Emile groaned at the nickname. No. I mean...kinda. Mom, this is Florian and his mom Èlodie. Florian goes to Beauxbatons with me. We aren't friends...really. Noelle tilted her head to the side. She was obviously trying to figure out what their relationship was exactly.

She turned to Èlodie and held out her hand for the woman to shake. "Hello! My name's Noelle LeDoux, Emile's mother. This is my Cousin Ivory, Liz's mother." Ivory gave her a small smile and a wave. The three women all looked powerful in their own ways. All of them wore signs of elegance and power.

Florian could tell that Emile was hanging off his mothers every word. He tried to hide his sly grin, but it most likely showed on his face. He couldn't wait to use this as blackmail. The boy would clearly do anything for the chance to ride a real racing horse.

He had already begun to like Elizabeth from her earlier gut-punching comment, and her comment about blackmailing Emile really sealed the deal on their newfound friendship. If only she went to Beauxbaton instead. They would rule the school together. He watched as she tugged on her hair flirtatiously and his sly smile grew again. "Ahh, ma chérie,* I think you and I are on the same page. Of course, we can't let my mother know that though. I do think you would love the French countryside..." he winked again as he leaned back from whispering back to her, only to find two tall women now joining them.

One of them, presumably Emile's mother from the pet name, (something he would certainly store in he memory bank) asked Emile who they were, and Emile responded in a manner that Florian wasn't quite expecting. 'Not friends? Now that's not something one who wants a ride on a prestigious racing horse would say...' He refrained from rolling his eyes at the comment. Emile would have to do much better than that. He needed to impress Florian's mother for that ride, no?

Florian watched as, of course, his mother greeted these powerful women with a strong returning handshake to Noelle, and a wave to Ivory. "Ahh, 'Ello Noelle, lovely to meet you and Ivory of course." She looked down at Ivory's stomach, where Ivory's hand was placed delicately. "Oh, are you with child? Congratulations, dear, Florian is sadly the last I will have. No girls unfortunately. How many children do you have?" Florian's mother was a doting mother, but unfortunately her quest to finally have a girl ended with Florian, as birth complications left her unable to have more children. But she was always on the hunt to ask others about their children, especially their girls.

Again, Florian tried not to roll his eyes as his mother's 'I must impress' mode turned on. He took the opportunity to lean over to Emile and say, "Why, Emi, if you are to get on one of those racing horses, you are going to have to be kinder to me, no? Surly we are... friends." He drew out the word friends, as if to emphasize this blackmail situation. Hopefully Emile would understand. Well, if he didn't, no racing horses for him.

Emile watched his mother and "aunt" interact with Florian's mother. This was not at all what he had expected. He had expected to be on his way back to the cozy confines of his house by now, but instead he was at a meet and greet with his bullies mother.

Liz on the other hand was enjoying this more than she should. She had finally met someone who shared her interest in making Emile's life as hard as possible. Now don't get her wrong, she loved her cousin, but she thought he needed a little push so that he would grow a back bone for heavens sake. She had smiled at Florian's little monologue that he had whispered to her and smiled even wider when he confronted Emile.

Emile turned his brown eyes towards Florian as he listened to what he said. He pursed his lips and glared at Florian and then his cousin for not standing up for him. What did he expect though? That Liz would suddenly become a good person? That's hilarious. Emile sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose with his fingers, trying to hide the mild blush that overcame his face at Florian calling him Emi.

"Florian, please. It's Christmas, can't you leave me alone for a moment. And shame on you for siding with him Lizzy. And don't call me Emi! You have no right! Your mom said I could ride a horse if I wanted, so I can just ask her. How you turned out so horrible and nasty, I don't know!" He stomped his foot and turned away, crossing his arms angrily. He was so MAD! All he wanted was to pursue his hobby and Florian had to turn it into a blackmailing opportunity. Well Emile wasn't having it. He was not HAVING IT!

Liz sneered at him when he called her by her least favorite nickname. She looked at Florian and gave him an evil little smile before she turned to Emile and kicked him in the shin. Emile yelped and whipped around to stare at her with big eyes.

"Shall I tell him about what you do in your free time then, Emi? Florian, your dearest Emi has no friends and he spends all day reading books like a weirdo. He then writes in his journal and goes out and stalks animals because they are the only friends he has. One time I read through one of his journals and he had a whole section dedicated to you. He wrote poems about how in love he is with you and how he hopes to be your boyfriend someday."She smiled widely as Emile's face paled and his mouth opened and closed.

"Th-that's a LIE! I swear that is a lie Florian! I have written about you before but it was about how much I dislike you sometimes! She is lying! Tell him you are lying Liz!" Emile looked terrified now. Truthfully what Liz had proclaimed was a lie, but she knew that it would get to him and she knew that Florian would go along with it even if he knew it was a lie. Emile stared between them. "Liz. Please. I will do anything! I will do anything! Tell him it's a lie!"

Liz turned her eyes to Florian and smirked, hoping he would be impressed with how quickly she had gotten Emile to bend under their will. She left it to Florian to determine what happened next.

As all of this was going on, the mom's had graduated a few feet away, meaning that they hadn't seen or heard any of this most likely. "Oh why yes! I am pregnant! This will be my... let's see.....10th child I believe. Yes, that is right! Liz over there is my oldest", she motioned to her blonde daughter, "and my youngest are twins of about 2 now! How many do you have darling?" Ivory had a pleasant voice. She sounded like a naturally maternal person, even though she hadn't really wanted kids in the first place.

Noelle observed the two women, not being able to relate to either of them as Emile was her one and only. Over the years her and her husband had tried for more but to no avail. The two now slept in separate beds and Noelle knew for a fact that he was out seeing another woman. This did not bother her though, as she had her son, the light of her life, to keep her company. The two had even discussed moving away and adopting a younger child in need. Maybe they still would, but for now they stayed in their home with Emile's father.
