"Grandmère, may I spend some time looking around London?" Jacqueline asked her grandmother one morning, the day after the two had arrived in the city. Grandmère had decided to take Jac there for a few weeks before the school year started. . .well, Jac had actually begged to be taken along. But that fact just wasn't very important. What mattered was that she was finally here.
London had been a point of interest in Jacqueline's mind for years, and so when her grandmother had announced she was taking a visit there that summer, the young french girl pleaded with her to be brought along. Maybe Grandmère was feeling kind that day, or maybe Jac annoyed her enough, but whatever the case, it had worked in getting the girl here.
After only a slight pause, Jacqueline's grandmother nodded. "Be careful, petite fille." That was all she said. Only four words, and yet Jac was filled with excitement. She couldn't wait to explore London, and the fact that she was allowed to go out on her own made it all even better. To Grandmère, exploring meant taking a nice short walk to some clothing store and scoffing at the items they sold there. "Clothes in France are always much better," she would say to whoever was unlucky enough to be there with her. Jacqueline's grandmother never learned to express her opinions in private, and frankly didn't seem care if anyone heard her anyway.
Smiling to herself, the young girl ventured out of the large house the two were in (the Levant family had houses all over the world), her eyes open wide as she took everything in. The sun was shining brightly that day, and there was a cool breeze that ruffled her hair a bit as she walked along. She was a lovely sight, with her blonde hair swaying in the wind and her eyes bright and sparkling, her lips spread into a smile. Everyone who passed her stared for a few moments, they just couldn't help it. Used to all the attention, Jac pretended she didn't notice.
After a few more minutes of walking, the 11 year old stopped for a little bit. She was in the middle of a busy square, surrounded by busy people that hurriedly moved from one place to the next. Jacqueline wished she had someone to talk to, and someone around her age at that. But it didn't seem like there was anyone there. . . Jac sighed and stood up again, preparing to leave.

Otherwise, he is speaking in French.
@Allie Lewis"I still don't understand why you don't want to wear any of the T-shirts I've bought for you, Lou. They're much more appropriate for your age and much more colorful! You dress like a grown-up more than me, sweetie, and I am your mom! You need to loosen up a bit, otherwise... Darling, do you hear me?" Kaida turned her head towards her son, a questioning look on her face. In response, the greyish-eyed boy only gripped his mother's hand tighter, not meeting her gaze. "Yeah, I do. But, maman, there are so many people here! I, I don't think I'll manage to give away the flyers." He finally replied, dejected. While he had lived already, by the age of eleven, in more places than some people visited during the span of their entire lives, Louis wasn't used to such an overpopulated town. He felt in his element in the countrysides or surrounded by the mountains and the seas. The cement roads, the high buildings, and the sea of people who passed by in the square only gave him a sense of anxiety, not the peaceful bliss he liked to feel.
"Honey, this is how big towns are. I hope you're not scared, right?" With the corners of her blood-red lips turning upwards, Kaida gave her son a closed-eye smile. She knew the boy was not feeling alright, and it pained her to see him like that, but she did it for his own good. Today, just a few weeks shy of him going to Beauxbatons, she decided that she had to give her petit prince some freedom. Otherwise, he would end up not being able to form any friendships at school! And, heaven knows how much the older witch had wanted to be accepted by her peers, and how much she suffered because of that- she didn't want Louis to have the same fate as her.
Knowing how clingy Louis was, Kaida wondered what reason to give him as to why they should spend a few hours away from each other. Thankfully, though, it seemed like the odds were in her favour; with the occasion of an animal healthcare event that took place in London, not only would she surprise her son with an impromptu trip, but it also gave her the perfect excuse to let him alone! Thus, under the pretense of not having enough time on her hands, she convinced Louis to give away flyers in one side of the town, while she would be in another area. Coraline, her niece, was alreadz at the animal shelter, helping out there. "Of course not. It's just... What if I get lost?"
"Sweetheart, you're my little genius. How many times did I manage to get lost around the streets of Japan and how many times did you help me find my way? You'll be just fine, trust me. And, in case you have the slightest inconvenience, just call me, you know that." Hearing his mother's encouragement, the boy's face lit up. "You're right, maman!" "Of course I am," Kaida giggled and pecked her son's nose, hugging him. "Now, go and spread those flyers. And, don't forget! If someone asks you about your family-" "-say that it's not their business!"
Laughing, Louis nodded towards his mother before she took a cab to get to her own destination. Sighing softly, the boy took a deep breath and looked down at the stack of flyers in his hand. He was going to start Beauxbatons this year, so he had to overcome his fear of approaching people. It is going to be alright. His mother was sure that everything was going to turn out fine, and he trusted her.
After approximately an hour, Louis was becoming pretty proud of himself. While at first, he was shy to approach people, seeing their smiles made him become more confident. Also, he didn't lose his composure at all, and he was sure that his clothes made him look serious and maybe even mysterious! What could be better? Looking around, the boy searched for someone else to hand out flyers to. He still had a couple of copies, but he was already planning what to do after giving them all away. Maybe, before he called his mother, he could go and eat something, all by himself? Busy with making plans, the brunet suddenly spotted a girl around his age, sitting in the middle of the square. "Hey, lady-" Louis started to say, but stopped when he came closer to her.
Her wavy blonde hair fell freely on her shoulders, enclosing her face like a priceless crown. Her eyes, which seemed to be searching in vain for something, were green as the depths of the sea, a color he'd only seen when he swam in the greek waters. In all honesty, her whole posture and aura resembled one of a goddess- and suddenly, the confidence the boy acquired had crumbled quicker than a snap of fingers. This girl was an angel. Swallowing, Louis felt the tip of his ears redden, and suddenly it seemed like it was getting was much, much hotter. Maybe he should have dressed up in a T-shirt, after all.

It was growing increasingly clear that there was no one her age for the girl to talk to, and after a while Jacqueline leaned back against the bench, closing her eyes for a few moments. She had planned to go exploring later, but. . . for some reason she knew it wouldn't feel right without a friend by her side. Maybe she would have to go back to the house her grandmother was in and drag her out. . . no, there was no way Jac was doing that. No matter how desperate she became for a companion, going to get Jacqueline's grandmother was not going to be an option. Anyone who knew Grandmère would know that she would be criticizing some unfortunate person's taste in clothing, or their style, or - "Hey, lady-"
A voice cut abruptly through the young girl's thoughts. Jac's eyes opened quickly and she looked around for the person who had quite rudely interrupted her thinking session. Not that she really needed one, of course, but. . . Her gaze landed on a boy in front of her, only a few feet away. The girl arched an eyebrow at him. "Yes?" she asked him in English, assuming that was the language he spoke. "What is it?" Folding her hands neatly in her lap, she waited for a reply. When it didn't come right away, she tilted her head to one side slightly. "Well?" She finally looked him over more closely.
His posture was very straight and stiff, matching his very formal outfit. Jac herself was in something a little more comfortable than she usually wore; she had changed into a sky blue t-shirt and light grey shorts before leaving the house. Of course, the outfit still looked very good on her, since her grandmother never allowed her to leave the house in clothes that were deemed "improper." The girl had a feeling her grandmother would approve of this boy's outfit. . . but she would probably add in some snide remark about something else if she decided to compliment it out loud. He had light brown hair that was slightly tousled and clear blue eyes. The boy seemed a little nervous and Jacqueline noticed the tips of his ears had turned red, a blush spreading across his face. She was used to this, and didn't acknowledge it, knowing some people didn't like being embarrassed and not wanted to upset the boy because. . . well, because there was one very important thing about him that really interested her: his age.
It seemed quite lucky that he had approached her, seeing that she had been searching for someone to explore London with her. Of course, it was very possible that he lived here and knew his way around already, which would mean it wouldn't really be exploring for him, only for her. It didn't matter either way though, since she would still get to know her way around London no matter what happened. That was what she hoping for, at least.
When Jacqueline realized she hadn't even introduced herself, the girl's manners took over. Standing up so the two were around the same height and it wasn't so awkward anymore (for her, at least), she gave the boy a hesitant smile, hoping he'd agree to explore the city with her. "I'm Jacqueline," she told him. "And I'm new to London, I just arrived here a day ago from France." She reached out a hand for him to shake.

@Allie LewisLouis was still enamored by this girl's godly beauty when her voice broke him off his trance.
"What is it?" She spoke, in an ever-so-slightly sweet tone. "Ah, right," the boy cleared his throat, looking at the stack of flyers in his hand. "I, um, there is an event for animal lovers. It's taking place at a shelter not too far from here. Erm, we want to spread awareness of the importance of protecting stray animals and..." With his mind suddenly going blank, the boy was left, literally, speechless. Closing his mouth, Louis opted for handing the girl one of the copies of the flyers, silently praying that she wouldn't laugh in his face.
It seemed like the blonde had no intention to, as she stood up, and, smiling sweetly at him, introduced herself. "Jacqueline," He repeated after her, enjoying the way her name felt on his lips. A royal name, worthy of a muse like she was. "I'm new to London, I just arrived here a day ago from France." She said, reaching out a hand for him to shake. Hesitantly at first, Louis finally reciprocated with a small smile of his own, his eyes lightening up. It was like it was fated for the two of them to meet there! Shaking her hand, the boy felt goosebumps spread on his skin.
"I'm Louis, and, coincidentally I am coming from France, too. " The boy replied in French, feeling a bit cooler than before. A cheeky grin spread across his face, and, running a hand through his hair, he continued. "I'm here on a trip with my family, as a good-bye gift before I'm leaving for.... boarding school!"
Oops, he dodged a bullet there. Louis almost told Jac that he was a wizard! It was strange since he was used to hiding this fact from people, mainly because he had no one to keep his secret from up until now. But now, when he suddenly had an acquaintance that wasn't from his world, he almost blew up everything! Though, even if he did accidentally give away his secret, what would happen? In the worst case, the girl would leave, freaked out by him. In the best, she would just dismiss his words as a product of his imagination.
Still, better safe than sorry. Deciding to change the subject, the boy eyed Jacqueline. "What about you, Jacqueline? What are you doing here, in London?"
