Stars, Hide Your Fires
"Stars, hide your fires; Let not light see my black and deep desires."

Alexx wasn't the type to get into trouble. She wasn't the type to roam the grounds after dark, either. When she was a Prefect and she had control over these parts, then she might have been seen walking them. But now... Well, she really served no purpose here.
So what was it that brought Alexx out so late? A fellow Slytherin. There weren't many students in her year looming about these days. Erin Ryan had done a fantastic job at pointing that one out (or so she had heard, she was far too occupied watching Quinn take on the Taco Bell guy). Why was that? Where had they all gone? That was a question for the Headliner.
The newly appointed Editor-in-Chief, now ex-Prefect, was chasing after a fellow snake. Well, that's something for Ami's conspiracy article. Prefect quits to cause trouble. But actually, she was going to stop her! Those professors could be mighty vicious, as could the Prefect team. Who knew what would happen? A detention, maybe? Nine months as a Prefect, Alexx knew that whoever this girl was, she didn't want to be spending detention with those people. Scrubbing toilets weren't fun!
So, naturally, it was her duty as a good person to go about stopping this girl. Who was she, anyway? How had Alexx never seen her before? She always liked to think that she knew everyone. That she had seen everyone that there was to see. In her own house, no less! She knew Erin (sort of), knew of Marcia, but that was just mostly a Prefect thing, she knew Glen (surprisingly even before they both became Prefects), as well as Bellamy, and then the rest of the Slytherin boys in her year who she didn't care about (if there were many more). So who on earth was this?
Whoever it was, they were about to become acquainted. Alexx walked after her, keeping her distance at first. What if she's mean? Erin seems to be mean. What if she is like Erin? Alexx could handle mean people, but she also didn't trust that she was in a mental state to argue. She had been spending far too much time around the happiest people on planet earth. Scott, Ami, and Reid were all a lovely change of scenery for her, but she had lost her firey and witty touch almost. Whatever the case was, she just hoped that this girl was nice enough.
"Hey!" She called out in sort of a whisper-yell, hoping that she would hear her. "Psst!" She called out again. The two weren't far apart, Alexx had made sure to stay close enough. What was she even doing out this late? Why was there a desire to go outside at night?
If Alexx were being perfectly honest with herself, she was always just a little bit curious about the life of trouble making. What it was like to be totally fearless. Not afraid to break the rules. Having no consequences if she did. Perhaps today was her day of learning, though she didn't mean for it to be. She was being a good person, trying to keep this girl out of trouble. What was she doing? This wasn't her job anymore. Maybe, all along, she just wanted to get that taste of freedom.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀There was a little spot, just on the outskirts of the grounds that Falentra had made into her little hiding space. It was well hidden if you were to walk along the recommended pathway, although students could find it quite easily if they were to dare venture so far out, which was highly unlikely. The only person that knew of her 'little layout' was that Ravenclaw kid, Kaegen Deathmote.
People had always made the forest out to be 'extremely dangerous', and eerie-looking, but Falentra couldn't see that. Though there was that slight tension when being around it, she quite liked it and the overall peacefulness. It was also the case of just having that common sense. Obviously going so deep into the forest could be a death wish for students, stupid students that is, but not so much for Falentra. She had never had any intention of going too far inside... not alone, anyway.
It was a cold night to say it was meant to be heading into summer now. The air was always fresh around this time, but tonight it even caused Falentra to send shivers down her spine. The Slytherin wore her usual dark robe, accompanied by the green fabric to indicate her house, while underneath was a tattered dark grey woolly jumper, one of which was obviously overworn and most likely never taken off. Her skirt which ended just above her knees danced around with the wind peacefully, almost in rhythm with that stubborn hair of hers it wasn't for it having a mind of its own. By now it had grown to around her shoulders. It was still pitch black and messy looking, but instead of having a fringe to hide away her daunting features, she had it slicked back with a few strands still finding a way to fall back into their natural place.
Her hands buried themselves into her overly large pockets to keep herself warm whilst she walked down a slope. It wasn't too far ahead from where she would normally take a turning off the path and onto the grass, but she had been startled by the sudden voice of another. Was she hearing things or was someone really out at this time? Following her perhaps? Questions started to gather in the back of her mind whilst she turned. So there was. A female around the same age stood before her with a somewhat curious or worrying expression on her face- she couldn't really tell but it was an annoying one to analyse at such an hour.
Her own expression showed calmness, not really giving away too much, despite the anger inside her wanting to break out and snap at the poor girl for interrupting her peaceful routined walk around the ground.
''What's that blondie?'' She was too busy overthinking to care for the others words. Was she a prefect? God, she hoped not. But she must have been, else why was she out here with her? She had never seen her out in the past, so she wasn't entirely sure now that she thought about it some more. Maybe she just needed to stop thinking and go out of her comfort zone and start asking questions. ''What ya doin' out here? 'aven't seen you about before.'' She paused, her eyes slightly widening and her eyebrows raising. ''Not-... Not that I'm out 'ere all the time... Just... just lost me cat. '' That was poor standards, even for Falentra. Her hand rested on the back of her head awkwardly, debating whether her lie was believable or not- definitely not.
''Just piss of will ya...'' She couldn't help it, and she didn't mean it. It just blurted out without thinking things through first. She was annoyed at herself for making up an obvious lie that even the stupidest of students could catch onto. She was normally good at hiding her feelings or showing any expression but it seemed this fellow Slytherin had caught her off-guard.
She wanted to apologise, but given that she hadn't done that for many people before, she found it hard to express so easily. Instead, her brows had lowered slightly and became furrowed in frustration. She had no idea how the other was to respond to this. She probably meant no harm and maybe was just as adventurous as Falentra, but this was just another classic move that she did to push others away. It was starting to become some sort of signature move of hers.

Really, Alexx hadn't meant to upset whoever this was. Her fears of this being a second Erin were more or less on the right track, but this girl seemed far more... aggressive. What was her deal, anyway? Alexx was just here to help her! It wasn't her fault that this girl decided that she was going to sneak out. If anything, Alexx was being a model citizen and should be treated with absolute respect! The integrity of the blonde was beyond compare (in her own eyes, anyway).
But she wouldn't let the words of this girl bring her down. She had dealt with things a lot harsher than this. So, acting as though she wasn't bothered by anything that she had said, much less her tone of voice, Alexx straightened herself out. "Actually, I'm here to warn you. It's after curfew. Plus, the grounds are dangerous. I would know..." She trailed off, thinking of all the danger that she had found herself tangled in. Particularly getting stuck in that tree...
Shaking it off, Alexx narrowed her eyes. "You at least shouldn't be sneaking out alone." It became clear to her that she wasn't going to be convincing her fellow snake to go back indoors anytime soon, so the least that she could do was accompany her. Two was better than one. It was safer to stick with the pack, anyway.
Walking closer to the girl, she smiled, deciding to put the negative aura from before behind her. Sticking out her hand to shake, she wanted to give the opportunity to start anew. "Alexx Séverin, Pre-... Ex-Prefect of Slytherin." She mumbled that last bit, shuffling her feet around. She still wasn't used to introducing herself without the title. "But I am Editor-in-Chief of the Headliner, and we hear some scary stories about what goes on here at night. Not to mention what I've seen with my own two eyes. Vous êtes mieux de rester avec moi." Alexx smiled confidentally, flashing the girl her pearly white teeth.
She didn't mean to be so cocky, but it was really all that she had left. She had nothing to be confident over anymore, so she would just have to fake it. It didn't make up for what she was lacking, but it would just have to do.
More on the matter, Alexx didn't have many friends. Her past position really scared people off. She didn't mean for that to happen, but people didn't like to be friends with someone who would police them. Free from that, she finally had the time to work on her people skills and interactions outside of just handing out punishments to anyone who crossed her path. There were a few exceptions, like Reid and Ami and Quinn, but that was mostly it.
Being out at night felt so good, though.
