WHACK!

Ahkar lifted a hand, his eyes on the horizon. Too bad the Quaffle didn't fly more than a few feet.

A sigh on his lips was present as he lowered his gaze, resisting the deep temptation to swing his foot out and kick it. Still, playing around with some loose Quidditch supplies was better than doing nothing. He'd spent most of the past few days either boring himself to death with homework, hunting down random creatures or watching people socialize. Only one of those had been entertaining, and he'd run out of creatures to study.

Swinging the bludger up over his shoulders and across the back of his neck, he finally gave into the temptation and swung his foot out, sending the ball rolling a little further. It got boring after awhile, playing by himself, but he should have been used to it by now. Maybe he'd just hoped that the whole Hogwarts thing would be a nice new start, but after the hat incident nobody was clambering to be friends with the grumpy, loudmouth, Slytherin dropout. Because that's exactly what he'd been catching them saying behind his back.

Picking up the ball, he felt a flicker of irritation just thinking about it. Stupid kids, stupid peers, stupid hat, stupid- He flung the ball up and the bludger around, channeling all his feelings into the hit.

THWACK- "OW!"

Oh.

Going a few shades paler, Ahkar froze with the serious temptation to just bolt away from whoever he'd just beaten in the face with a red ball. After a moment though a part of him twisted with a hint of guilt, and he muttered a few choice words under his breath before he made his way over to check on his latest victim. The edge of the bludger dragged through the grass along his feet, and he eyed what he really hoped wasn't a corpse before going to poke the stranger with his foot.

"Uh... you are okay?" He really hoped they weren't dead...

"You've uh... got a good arm. G–going for the Quidditch team, yeah?" said the girl who had been clobbered by the ball. She had a hand cupped over her nose quite tightly, and whatever of her face wasn't covered was beet red. Her voice shook some, as she peeked one green eye open to look up at the boy who had pitched the red, leather ball with such force. On the floor next to her, countless books had fallen out of her bag, on all sorts of creatures– though the Thunderbird seemed to be a favorite judging by the crumpled sketches that sat on her lap as well. Seems she had taken full advantage of the library on her first few days at Hogwarts. She rubbed her nose, gingerly as she sat up, her usually braided hair in loose, ginger curls. Her tie was hanging loosely around her neck, halfway undone. She carried a bit of a disheveled appearance, her wand behind her ear joined by a tan colored pencil.

She tentatively pulled her hand away from where her nose was red enough to leave her resembling Rudolph the red nosed reindeer, unfortunately. "It's not bleeding, is it?" she asked, her voice wavering slightly as he pointed at it. Though there were tears welled up in her sea green eyes, she didn't look discontent. It must have been a reasonable reflex from getting hit in the face... Her face littered in freckles, though they blended in more towards the injury. She began gathering up her books, wiping her cheeks when a few tears spilled over with the back of her wrist as she dove for the scattered sketches of various creatures that were beginning to run from her thanks to the breeze that suddenly blew through the grounds.
