Ami sat beneath her favorite tree, staring out at the Lake. Most weekends at Hogwarts found her outside, longing to be free of the heavy schoolwork that normally confined her to the common room and library during the week. But it was Saturday, and Ami was outside, breathing in the sweet, sweet air, not a care in the world. She wasn't in robes, as per usual, and wore clothes that didn't reach her knees or elbows, for once- but that also meant all of her pale, white scars were fully visible to the public, as were her thousands of freckles.

She looked up to see a boy- Gryffindor, she thought to herself, sneering slightly. Of course. -leaning over her, a shock of pitch-black hair topping off a pale, solemn face. "Hello," Ami said quietly, her hand immediately going to the sheathed knife at her waist. Should one truly be a blade expert, they'd notice that this particular dagger would've been called a misericorde- but not a lot of people knew that. Only nerds like Ami knew. "You looking for someone?" Ami spotted a Slytherin girl with black-blue hair trailing behind the Gryffindor, and noted that the two look remarkably similar- were they siblings, maybe?

Justin walked out in the grounds. Cassie, his sister was with him. They were still upset about being sorted into rival houses. He sighed and walked calmly outside.

The ebony haired boy spotted a girl in hifflepuff attitire. When she spoke to him he scowled and thought of saying something. "No I'm not looking for anyone." He snapped. He could feel the cold stare of his sister reminding him to be nice. He frowned and shot a glare at his sister. "I'm not in the mood to talk right now. Especially you hufflepuff." He was getting a bit angry for some reason. He didn't know or care. He was just angry.

Justin ignored his sister and walked towards Ami. He might have looked intimidatimg, with his pale skin, black hair, and steely gaze. He could give a glare that looked like he was stabbing you through the soul.

Justin glared at Ami not an intimidating one, just one to say 'back off'. He swept his hair off from his face and stood a few feet back from her. He had a small pocket knife tucked in the waist band of his pants. Just in case he needed it for anything.

Cassie followed her brother, Justin outside. She saw the hufflepuff and noticed this might be trouble. She shot Justin a glance telling him to chill and don't doing anything irrational.

Cassie knew he wasn't the social person. That is why she tried to help him, but she wasn't that much better than him. Her blue dye glowed in the sunlight making her pale skin seem a bit paler.

Cassie sighed seeing him glare at her. Then he approached the hufflepuff. "Hello." She said dryly.

Cass saw her the girl reach for something. A knife. So they all had one. Justin made her have a pocket knife with her at all times for protection.

The ebony haired girl looked at them and frowned. Why are they acting that way? Can't Justin behave? She asks herself in her mind.

Sighing again she follows him a little cautiously. This might not end well. Hopefully they wouldn't hurt each other, but knowing her brother something might happen. Justin knew not to use his knife on people, at least she hoped he wouldn't hurt a person that hadn't attached him.

Cassie glared at Justin trying to get him to back down, but he is the older twin so he thinks he has to do everything his way.

Ami noted that when the Slytherin girl came up to the Gryffindor, and she seemed to have a calming effect on him; most likely siblings, she concluded. She dropped her hand from her knife, splaying her fingers out- I'm not going to hurt you, the motion said. "Hey. I've never seen y'all around before," she remarked casually, her American accent shining through like the melodramatic star it was. She mostly directed this question at the girl, feeling she was the more rational one of the two. Frankly, the boy terrified her, with his death-glare and glowering, pouty manner, but for the time being, she managed to keep her nervous stutters and tics under control.

Ami decided to ignore the comment about her being a Hufflepuff, not exactly sure what it meant- was it meant to be discriminating or deprecating? Did the boy just hate Hufflepuffs in general? Interesting, indeed- Hufflepuffs were usually the ones who were most liked by the other houses. "Are you two related?" Ami asked, trying not to seem rude or imposing. "You look awfully alike. Besides the hair, of course. Love it, by the way," Ami added, flashing the girl a smile to go along with the compliment.

Justin noticed her hand go away from her knife. She wasn't going to hurt him. He was very annoyed at Cassie. She kept trying to calm him down which was a good thing, but he didn't want to be calmed down. Instead he sighed and looked at his sister like, do I have to calm down?,. "Yes we are twins actually. I'm the older one." He said casually. He didn't know this girl and he didn't like her. What kind of hufflepuff carries a knife? "Why do you carry a knife?" He asked giving her a quizzical look. Maybe she grew up some place where she needed a knife?

Just frowned at Ami then gave his death glare to Cassie. She was probably used to it now, since she didn't flinch. He liked having his light blue eyes, they came off as a light blue-ish Grey witch was a nice color to glare at people and make them uncomfortable. Which he does a lot.

Justin combed his hand through his hair as he watched Ami. Maybe she wasn't that bad, but she didn't seem like someone to trust since she kept a knife with her, well everyone should, but she was going to use it on him.

"Thank you. I got it done when I was eight. He hated it, but he got used to it. Also don't mind his death glares. They can be really freaky, but I don't know how to avoid them." She stuck her tongue out at her brother then smirked. She learned to deal with the glared. They can feel like your soul is being torn apart by a knife but she normally ignores it.

Cassie takes her hand through her hair to fix it. She loves the bright color. On the other hand Justin thought her black hair looked nicer without the colors. She looked at Ami and smiled.

When she asked her parents if she could dye her hair they said no. It was maddening. So she told them all the reasons why she could get it done and they finally said yes and she got her hair dyed. She felt victorious that day. She wanted Justin to get his done too, but he didn't like the idea of dying his black hair.

Cassie walked in front of Justin and looked at Ami. She didn't seem so bad. Why would Justin be alarmed other than the fact that she had a knife.

"Why do you carry a knife?" Justin asked.
"Why do people think it's okay to grope ten-year-old girls just because they look sixteen? I don't know, you tell me," Ami said shortly, her eyes flashing angrily before subsiding back into her normal, non-aggressive state. "I'm sorry. That was rude. I carry it because I know how to use it, and honestly, I suck at magic. It's my best defense."

Ami stood up, dusting the seat of her shorts off. "Twins. That's cool- I've never met twins before," Ami admitted, glancing between the two; yeah, that made sense, they looked pretty close in age, although Justin did look a bit more mature. Cassie, however, was way prettier- gorgeous hair, open, friendly face. Who wouldn't like her?

"I, uh, don't know if I said this yet," Ami said, suddenly realizing she hadn't introduced herself yet. "I'm Ami. From Hufflepuff, as your brother oh-so-astutely pointed out earlier." Ami subtly rolled her eyes at Cassie, hoping she wouldn't mind the dig at the Gryffindor. "How did you know, anyway? I mean, it's not like I'm wearing any robes at the moment," Ami smiled, glancing down at her street clothes. She held her arms behind her back, trying to keep her scars away from view. She'd explain them when she was ready.

"So where are you from then? I don't know, maybe cause I have seen you at the hufflepuff table in the Great hall. I'm a lot smarter than you think." Justin said. He was very observant. More than people might think. He wasn't some kid who was oblivious. Give him a small detail and he could figure out a lot about people, since he would study closely to see hints of the detail and figure it out.

Justin frowned watching her hide her arms. He noticed before she hid them small marks, but he had only gotten a split second veiw. He wouldn't say anything about them, cause it was clear she did not want to talk about it.

Justin tugged at his black shirt. He had worn his gryfindor tie with his black shirt, black pants, and black high tops. Just so he could be recognized as a gryfindor.

"I'm Justin stone, Gryfindor which you should already know from my tie." He said matter of factly. He frowned and looked at his sister then back to Ami. He held his hand out for her to shake hoping she would take it and not leave him waiting for her to shake it.

"Thank you. I don't know. Justin is really observant. It's sometimes alarming how much he can figure out by being observant. I'm Cassie stone, Slytherin." She was wearing her tan cloak with electric blue fur on the inside, an electric blue shirt, Grey pants, white high tops and her slytherin tie. She looked like a mysterious child in her cloak.

Cassie loved the cloak she was wearing. It was a gift from her mother.  It was a very warm cloak, but she always wore it. Sometimes if she thought the cloak was too hot she wouldn't wear it, but that rarely ever happened.

Cassie smiled at Ami, but she didn't exactly like how she acted towards her brother, but for now the hufflepuff thought Cassie was a very nice person. Which was not entirely true, but Cassie did want to make friends. If people thought Justin was more unlikeable than she was they hadn't met her true self which she was trying to hide. Maybe she would grow out of it? Probably not.

Cassie walked next to her brother and looked at Ami. She had probably gone through some tough things it seemed like. Why did she carry a knife? If truly was a good weapon.

"So where are you from then?"
"Chicago," Ami replied with an awkward laugh. "Ish." It's complicated, she reminded herself. They don't want to hear about it. No one has time to hear about your complicated backstory. Also, no one cares. Ah, Chicago. The golden olden days, running through the urban streets, vaulting over cars and motorcycles... those certainly were the days. Ami's eyes glazed over briefly as she recalled her happy childhood in America before she moved back to England for a 'proper schooling', as her mother called it.
"I'm Justin Stone, Gryffindor which you should already know from my tie." "I'm Cassie Stone, Slytherin."
"Justin and Cassie," Ami smiled, shaking Justin's outstretched hand. Justin- A Latin name, Ami recalled, meaning just and righteous. Cassie- normally a nickname for Cassandra, and meant unheeded prophetess, from Greek Myths. Interesting bunch of names, then- one Greek, one Latin. Ami's smile widened- oh boy, did she love interesting names. "A pleasure to meet you both. I've never met twins before- y'all would be the first." Dropping Justin's hand, Ami turned to look down at the lake wistfully, longingly. "Have you guys had the chance to meet the squid, yet? I find he's quite the nice soul, once you get to know him."
