If You Go Down to the Woods Tonight [PV Vivian & Alice] - Grounds

Since the plan had been agreed upon that morning, Scarlet was unable to keep her mind off the trios upcoming venture in the grounds. At various points in the day she found herself going over the plan in her head, picturing her route from the Slytherin dorms to the meeting place just outside the castle doors, figuring out how they could quickly make a dash back to the castle if spotted by someone in the grounds.

That evening, when things had died down and the common had slowly started to empty as people went off to their dorms for the night, Scarlet did the same, acting as if nothing were out of the ordinary. In her dorm, she chose to occupy herself for the next couple of hours by reading a book, sitting up in bed as she did, so not to run the risk of falling asleep.

Finally, after maybe the one-hundredth time, she checked her watch and smiled when she saw it was ten minutes to midnight. She hadn't gotten dressed out of the leggings and t-shirt she had been wearing in the common room that evening, so just quickly grabbed her favourite oversized hoodie and pulled it over what she already had on. Shoving her wand in the hoodie's pocket, she quietly crept out of the dorms and common room, and with the same care, quickly made her way to the arranged meeting spot.

The air was cold, not enough that her breathing was accompanied by any condensation, but still, she was glad that she had the t-shirt on underneath her hoodie. She spotted the small collection of trees and bushes to the left of the front doors, and took a crouched position behind the biggest of latter. She hadn't risked casting Lumos yet, but looking out towards the stretch of ground they would have to cover to get to the edge of the forest, she thought they might have to, or run the risk of running straight into a tree, or wall, or worse another person.

Alice had had the hardest time ever focusing that day. She was too jittery with excitment and anticipation of their little exploration excursion that was to take place. Luckily for her, that seemed to be her default state of being, so she wasn't particularly acting out of the ordinary. She had spent the day alternating between finishing all of the homework she had been procrastinating and getting up and pacing around whatever room she happened to be in. She historically had quite a bit of trouble sitting still when she was excited, which revealed itself to be a problem now that she was expected to do so for long periods of time.

As it got later in the evening and she had run out of homework to do, she set about reading the owls her family had sent her, and beginning to pen her replies, albeit keeping the lamp as dim as possible so as not to wake the people with whom she shared a space, lest they get upset with her or worse, wonder what she was doing awake so late in the evening when they had classes in the morning. She got most of the way through her response to Kingsley before she looked at the clock and realized it was approaching the time where she was meant to be sneaking out to the arranged meeting spot. Alright. She could do this. She slipped her cardigan and scarf back on over her t-shirt and jeans, tucking her wand behind her ear (her hair helped keep it in place rather than it just slipping out the first chance it got), and creeping out into the quiet halls of hogwarts, navigating as well as she could as her eyes adjusted to the darkness of the night.

Once she finally found her way to the agreed upon meeting place, she waved excitedly at Scarlet, but didn't dare utter a word, at least no yet. Now it seemed all that was left to do was wait for Vivian.
