A day in the Sun
Arden leaned back in his chair and stretched, letting out a groan and a sigh before rubbing his face and looking down at his book. Alright, Studying was important. He knew that. But, he was pale enough as it was. He didn't need to get even more ghost like hiding indoors like this. It was time to take this party outside. He stuffed his books into his messenger bag and slung it over his shoulder before heading outside.
Down some stairs, around some corners...a few times when he gets lost for about 10 minutes...then eventually through the entry hall and towards the large front doors to the castle.
When he stepped outside into the sun he took a deep breath and let it out slowly, a smile coming to his face. He was wearing dark brown pants, a dark blue shirt with a muggle band on it, and a long forest green coat. His fiery orange hair roughly shoulder length and in stark contrast to his sky blue eyes.
He walked around for a bit before he eventually found a table with some benches and he sat down at it, setting his messenger bag on the table. it was a simple leather messenger bag, had a Kenmare Kestrals pin and a IRFU Rugby pin side by side, representing his muggle and Magical sports he enjoys.
While sitting at the table he opens up the messenger bag and takes out his copy of "The Dark Forces: A guide to self-protection" and begins to flip through the pages, occasionally taking notes and scribbling things in a notebook he has opened up next to it.

A day in the Sun
Illowy was fairly certain her brain was half way to frying if she stayed locked away in the depth of the Library shelves for too much longer. One had to admit, it wasn't difficult to find the snake if one knew where to look; her hiding places weren't terribly extensive. Closing the dusty tome though, it was settled the girl needed some proper hair that wasn't clouded with dust and the warm scent of old parchment.@Arden Doherty
The girl made her way outside, her glorified ball of fluff, Killian, close on her heels. Mind too full, the girl didn't pay much mind to anyone she was passing, her eyes set on an afternoon doodling by the Lake side. Killian, however, as the meandered through the grounds, found himself curious about one particular person... or really more so his jacket who's ends dangled over the edge of the bench it's wearing was sitting on. Breaking away from his mistress a moment, the curious kitty couldn't help but slip himself under the bench, tentatively batting at the ends of the coat.
I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

A day in the Sun
Arden was deep in thought as he read his book, making notes and writing out questions that he would need to ask his professor or at the very least hunt for the answers in another book. Then he noticed something, his coat moving in a jerky manner. He looked down and saw a cat and a smile came to his face as he let out a chuckle "Well hey there Fella, I didnt think we had animals just wandering about. Where did you come from?" his southern Irish accent was impossible to miss, as if his face and hair didn't bring to mind the emerald isle already.
he looked around and his eyes fell on Illowy and he gave a little wave "This little guy yours? hate to break his heart but I dont have any treats in there. Unless pocket lint tickles yer fancy"
Arden looked back down at the cat and he grabbed his coat and started to flap and move it some to entice the cat to attack it more, chuckling some to himself as he did so. He then looked back up to girl "Ah im bein rude, sorry bout that. Still trying to get used to this place. Arden, who'er you?"

A day in the Sun
Illowy nearly didn't notice her little companion had left her side until someone called out to her. Turning her head towards the voice, she caught eye of Killian's little occupation before paying much attention to the lad, "Killian..." she said, almost exasperated as she started over.@Arden Doherty
The kitty seemed more then happy to oblige the moment of play as the boy flickered the jacket a bit, egging the playful behavior on. Paws wildly flying around, pupils huge, as he tried to catch his 'prey'. Honestly, she couldn't be too mad about it, after all the critter was barely two; still a kitten as far as she was concerned. Typically, Killian was the sort of kitty who liked his mistress to be in his sight and was good at keeping close to her without being totally under her feet. He wasn't one to wander off too far, much less to take too much interest in anyone that wasn't his owner; so be it him in a playful mood, or there just being something else about the jacket that caught his attention, it was certainly a surprise to her to see him venture off.
"You silly cat..." she muttered, bending under the bench to school the animal up in her arms before shaking a bit of hair out of her face, "If anything, Killian's the one being rude. Sorry, usually he's much better about staying at my side." the girl explained, "Pleasure, I'm sure. I'm Illowy." the older witch took a moment to actually look the boy over, not quite recognizing him. Then again, she didn't really keep track of the first years aside from the one's in her own house.
Just as well, meeting new first years was always such a toss up with how they'd react to her. At least in her own house, it wasn't uncommon to meet students with the strange, marbled black scars. In the other houses however, they often didn't know what had happened the year previous, and thus, seeing such markings tended to invoke either stark curiosity and questions, or nervous stares. Illowy much preferred the former as opposed to having eyes burn into her.
I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

A day in the Sun
He chuckled and waved alittle at the cat as it was picked up and taken away from playing with his coat. As the girl talked, he took note of her irish accent and that was very reassuring as it was always nice to meet someone from your home country. He moved his eyes over to look at her and while he noticed the black spidery scars on her pale skin, other than looking them for a moment over out of curiosity to see if it was a tattoo he was looking at. What he got stuck looking at longer was her face.
The faint freckles, wavy dark hair with the slightest hint of a red sheen, and and sharp pale blue eyes. He opened his mouth to speak but was taken aback a moment and he blinked a few times and shook his head, clearing his throat to distract that he was staring and got tongue tied. He then nodded a few times and looked back, his confident and friendly expression back as he offered a hand. "Pleasure is all mine Illowy. I don't think ive seen you around so im willing to bet you arent a Gryffindor. But, as solitary as ive been this year I wouldnt be surprised if I did somehow miss you. Though im not sure how anyone could" he offered her a playful wink

A day in the Sun
There it was again. The burning. She could feel his eyes on her, even as she looked down at Killian, shifting the animal in her arms to have a better hold on him. Flickering her cold stare back at him again, she hoped to snap him out of the rude behavior by making him realize he'd been caught displaying such poor manners.@Arden Doherty
He gaped for a moment, looking like a cod fish sucking in hair, before he seemed to come back to himself. Better he did it for himself then for her to make him. After all, it wouldn't be the first time she'd laid into someone for being so rude towards her. As the lad recovered from his lapse, she half expected either an unintentionally offensive question about why she looked like she did, or some nervous apology for staring. Instead, to her surprise, he acted as though nothing had happened, offering a hand out to her.
Icy hues flitted from his hand and back again, shifting the cat once more to one arm as she took his hand as he started babbling on, ending his mini monologue with a wink. That rose her brow. What in the world was that suppose to mean? she wondered to herself, slipping her hand from his and allowing it to retreat into Killian's fur. Was it a quip at her scars? Certainly they had become her biggest identifier. Or was that some odd sort of compliment... truly she wasn't entirely sure, "I'm a Third Year Slytherin." she clarified for him, "So no, naturally you probably wouldn't see much of me. Then again, most people don't see much of me. I keep busy." she explained
