Dragging Your Feet
Reducio
Participants: @Aurora Ranvier, @Starlee Kennedy, @Michael Miller, @Violet Carrington, @Nell Zoldak.
As participants started to arrive at the Drag Race-themed escape room, they would see Ami anxiously pacing back and forth in front of the entrance. She had put quite a bit of effort into setting this all up, so she was really hoping that people would enjoy it. Once everyone had arrived, a cheery face would replace her clearly semi-stressed expression, and she smiled at everyone gathered in front of her. "Welcome to the Dragging Your Feet escape room!" she said, clapping her hands together. "Before we get started today, I just want to go over a few rules I have for you guys, just to keep everyone safe. If you end up breaking these rules, I will ask you to leave the escape room.
"The room itself is perfectly safe. Nothing in there will hurt you unless you hurt it first. That being said, for your own safety, please do not climb on the furniture inside. All that will happen is that you will fall and get injured. Your second rule is to note that this hourglass-" Here, Ami lifted the glass hourglass filled with sand to show the participants. "-is not a part of your escaping experience. This is simply to measure the time and let you know how much time you have left to solve all the puzzles. And finally, if you need help, please raise your wand and shoot either red or green sparks into the air. I will not be in the room with you, so this will let me know that you need my assistance. Okay? Okay. Let's figure out what we're doing here, then, shall we?"

Placing a hand on the handle of the door, Ami checked to make sure everyone was paying attention (and, preferably, alert) before ushering everyone inside. The participants would be greeted with the sight of a near-exact replica of the Werkroom from PuRaul's Race of Drag, in all its pink glory. Before the participants started to wander off, however, the Hufflepuff fourth year would clap her hands together to gather everyone's attention.
"Alright, folks, here's the deal," she said, raising her voice slightly to make sure everyone could hear her. "Welcome to RuPaul's Drag Race, Season, uh.... forty-two. If you're unfamiliar with the show, first of all, get a life, and second of all, it's essentially a competition reality show for drag queens and kings to show off their skills. We're currently in the Werkroom, where the competitors keep their stuff and prepare for challenges. But, obviously, drama has erupted. Fan-favorite Chad Preoccupied-" Those who knew of Ami beyond just a surface impression would surely remember her unforgettable drag persona, King Chad Preoccupied, and would easily identify this as shameless self-promotion. "-has had his iconic golden fedora stolen by one of the other competitors in an attempt to sabotage him. Your mission is to first, find the fedora. Then, you need to figure out who stole his fedora, and why."
Pausing, Ami would hand a sheet of parchment to [first person to post]. "These are a list of all the contestants," she explained. "One of these names is your culprit, who I'm sure you guys will catch. But, of course, you only have sixty minutes before the contestants come back from their current challenge. Complete your objectives, and then get out."
Flipping the hourglass and placing it on a shelf by the door, Ami grinned wolfishly at the students before preparing to exit the room. "Your time has started... go! Find that fedora!"
AREAS OF INTEREST YOU MAY WANT TO EXPLOREThe Worktables
ReducioSpread evenly throughout the Werkroom are 6 large worktables for each of the 8 contestants, one of them being Chad's. Like the rest of the room, they're pink, although most of them are covered in each contestant's personal belongings and crafting materials. Some are neater than others, but all of them are covered in the usually crafting materials- yards upon yards of cloth, sewing kits, huge makeup kits, the list could go on for miles.
The first table has a large stack of fabric bolts on half of the table, and a large basket of fabric scraps sits on the other end. Stacked neatly under the worktable are four duffel bags, all of them a bright fuchsia color, along with a matching suitcase.
The second table is significantly messier than the first. Fabric scraps and threads are strewn all across the surface of the table, along with various sewing supplies. Stacked on the stools, under the worktable, and on the tabletop itself are various bags of various shapes and sizes, all of them a brilliant firetruck red.
The third table easily has the most brilliant of materials scattered across the desktop. Flashy swathes of shiny golden cloth sit on one side of the table, while different shades of brilliant purples sit at the other. Tucked under the table are various nondescript bags of varying black and gray hues.
The fourth table is, inexplicably, covered in feathers and sequins. Glitter seems to have been scattered across the entire table as well, covering all the hot pink bags scattered around the table as well. Unlike the other tables, the fabric bolts are leaned carelessly by the side of the table, and nearly all of the bags under the table are left open.
The fifth table, in short, looks like a display table straight out of Hot Topic. Heaps of black fabrics of every material imaginable cover the table, along with a general assortment of studs, chains, spikes, whatever else one's gothic heart would desire. The bags under the table are, fittingly, pitch black with studded spikes.
The sixth table, in contrast to the fifth one, has a much more vintage gothic feel to it. Intricate rolls of lace, bolts of dark velvets, and several complicated-looking top hats with elaborate arrangements of feathers and jewels nestled in the brim. The bags, however, are quite modern, although they don't seem to particularly match one another.
The seventh table seems to be covered in miles and miles of every shade of blue imaginable, in every medium imaginable. Cloth, feathers, sequins, rhinestones, paper, makeup... you name it, it's probably on the table. The bags (blue, of course) are placed both on the table, the stools, and under the table, and several of them have been left open.
The eighth and final table seems rather unremarkable, devoid of the normal cloth/craft material clutter on the other tables. However, a rather intimidating-looking locked trunk sits on top of the table, as well as five or six bags neatly lined up underneath the table. The Makeup Vanities
ReducioPositioned along the right side of the Werkroom against the wall, the makeup vanities are identical to one another like the tables, although they lack the clutter of personal effects the worktables have. There are three rectangular mirrors mounted on the wall, each mirror with a frame of lightbulbs (similar to a starlet's dressing room mirror) and a tabletop for the drag royalty to place their makeup items upon. Each table has three stools, and has a few miscellaneous items on them. The Mannequins
ReducioAlong the front wall of the Werkroom stands 8 mannequins, each of them shaped identically to their respective drag royalty's body. They appear to be a standard dress form, with a soft body for the drag contestants to pin their designs to, and a stable-looking metal base. All 8 forms are currently bare, with no designs pinned upon them.
UH... AMI, WHAT NOW?ReducioNow you play! Explore the spaces around you, talk to your fellow fedora-hunters, and find that fedora. If you've ever played an escape room in real life, you'll know that you look around the room to find clues and puzzles to solve, which is exactly how this one will work.
Please only have one action per round. Clearly state this action at the bottom of your post. This includes examining items, searching bags or tables, or attempting to solve a puzzle. Free actions (these are not your main action) include talking and moving. If you want to be super helpful to me, link your trunk in your post.CHOOSING AN INFORMED ACTIONReducioYou may choose whatever action you want while inside the escape room. Please keep in mind the rules that Ami has told the participants IC, as breaking these rules will warrant removal from the room IC and the thread OOC.
When observing or investigating something, I will be rolling using your wisdom stat. A more general observation (ex. "investigating the worktables") will have a higher DC to actually find specific details, while if you're investigating something more specific and focused (ex. "investigating worktable 8") will have a lower DC to notice small details. See: a general observation will cover more at once but lack the detail, and vice versa. Whatever your character observes, only they will know that information. Make sure to share information you find with other participants IC in order to be successful.
When casting a spell, I will follow DCs put in place by the dueling team. If a spell has no DC, I will go with the average DC for that spell's year (ie, first year spell = DC of 9).
When solving a puzzle, I will not be rolling for wisdom. These puzzles are entirely on you, the user, to solve OOC. If you solve it, then your character will solve it.
Each person will receive a total of three clues. Use them, or don't- if you want to, just owl or DM me on Discord with your request, and I will do my best to provide some guidance.DEADLINE TO POST IS JULY 10.

Grew up in the muggle world, of course the escape room term familiar to Aurora’s ear, but not even once she ever participate in one. Before stepping her feet to the room, her imagination of how the room would be was this dark, scary, with a harmless monster that trying to catch each one of the students. It caught her by surprise when the only colour she could identify was pink. Not that the Ravenclaw was complaining, in fact, she loves all shades of pink, but her eyes had already customized by the calming blue of the Ravenclaw dorm, thus, this shining neon colour almost blinded both of her eyes. The escape room, or the werkroom, looked like those theatres backstage in the movies, with the decapitated mannequins, some tables, and the huge vanity area.
Being in awe of how the room was decorated, the young brunette almost got lost in her daydream, what would it be like to let another person, which she believed to be called a makeup artist, caked up those cosmetics that she knew nothing about, get her hair done in a tower style, dressed up in a gown shaped like a ten tiers wedding cake for a day, and feel like a million galleons for a day. However, the older student, Ami, who seemed to be as excited as she was in the quidditch scrimmage, snapped the Ravenclaw out of her imagination as she handed out a list of names. This person surely has the energy of everyone in the room combined, perhaps more than that. According to Aurora’s intuition, Ami probably drinks a gallon of coffee every single day just like those typical adults do.
Both of her ears tried to listen to what the fourth year was saying as she skimmed through the names. Aurora, which is her name, Starlee, the one from the quidditch scrimmage, Michael, no clue who that was, Violet, the death glaring girl, and Nell, familiar, but unsure. When Ami said something about a ‘culprit’, her mind automatically one hundred percent sure that it was, “Glarrington, Violet Glarrington is the culprit.”

The list the Ami had handed to Aurora seemed, especially compared to the quality of the Werkroom in general, rather shabby. In fact, if Aurora flipped it over to the other side, she would see some hastily scribbled and crossed out notes from one of the fourth year Transfiguration lessons, which were presumably Ami's. But, the back of the parchment would be of no use to the students- oh no, it was the list of 8 names on the front.
Ami's handwriting was, surprisingly, meticulously neat. It was something that she had prided herself on, so the names and brief descriptions on the front of the parchment were very easy to read. The drawings that accompanied the words, however... well, they certainly left a lot to be desired. They were hardly better than stick figures, although there seemed to have been an attempt at coloring (which was entirely unsuccessful). Luckily, it seemed that Ami had picked up some skills during her tenure as a writer on the Headliner, and the descriptions weren't half bad. Of course, in order to be of use, Aurora would probably have to pass the list of suspects around to her fellow students, so they could all take a gander at the list.

King Cayenne: Arguably King Chad Preoccupied's biggest competition. Known for his explosive tantrums and scathing reads1, King Cayenne is the King of Reading. Hot and fiery like the pepper he's named after, he certainly has what it takes to steal Chad's golden fedora...1Reading = roastingTempest: Some may say that she's the Queen of Grandmas. Others may say she's the Classiest Queen of them all. Regardless, Tempest is a Drag Queen that simply oozes old-school class. An expert in sewing, Tempest has been known to rule all runway challenges.Evan Nescent: As the indisputable King of Stupid, Evan Nescent takes ditzy to a whole new level. Loved by many (but not as many as those who stan Chad) for his airheaded and occasionally downright ignorant nature, some have begun to suspect that he's not quite as innocent as he seems...Lady Orchard: With cheeks as red and rosy as the fruit she's named after, Lady Orchard could be considered to be the Queen of Fun. Rotund in shape and jolly in nature, some may wonder why she's not named Mrs. Claus. Alas, her bright and cheery nature and skill with a makeup brush certainly is a unique set of skills. One might even wonder if she could even do such a horrendous thing.Eve Ville: Just like her name suggests, Eve Ville is Queen of Darkness and Horror. Seen as an outcast and ostracized by the other contestants of the Drag Race, Eve Ville's unusual style and out-of-the-box approach to all of the challenges have showcased her tenacity in the face of adversity. Chad certainly hasn't been the nicest to her so far... but would she even bother stealing his fedora?Lavish Lazuli: Blue, blue, blue. If anyone can stick to a color palette, it's Lavish Lazuli. The Queen of Comedy, Lavish Lazuli is known for her brilliant blue wardrobe and killer jokes. She and Chad have always appeared to be on good terms, at least on screen... but there have been rumors of fighting between the two jokesters backstage. Could the rumors be true?Faye Boulous: And of course, it wouldn't be RuPaul's Drag Race without the Queen of the Runway. Faye Boulous certainly lives up to her name, and she rules the stage anytime she's on. The only one of the other contestants who can possibly rival her stage presence is the one and only Chad Preoccupied. Perhaps she's upset that someone's stealing her limelight...Chad Preoccupied: We can't ever leave out the possibility of self-sabotage. Maybe he wants to sow division. Maybe he wants attention. Whatever the reason, there's still a possibility that Chad has stolen his own fedora, and framed someone else... but no, he's the Ultimate Hypeman. He wouldn't... right?

Nell was highly anticipating the escape room the lay ahead of her. She had of course heard of these escape rooms back at home, but she had never gotten a chance to really participate in one. Nell had a feeling that escape rooms were eerie and small, but once she stepped inside this escape room, she was shocked. There was bright pink, well, everywhere. Instead of disliking the color, however, she was comforted. The room was a good size too, a lot of space to work and move around. The Werkroom, it was called. It honestly reminded Nell of the backstage section of some theaters she had been too. As a younger girl, Nell participated in various plays. She reminisced the thought now, wondering how she ever performed in front of people.
Nell looked around the room at her fellow participants as she listened to Ami explain everything. She hadn't really socialized much in her two years at Hogwarts, so she was very unfamiliar with everyone. Nell recognized their names and their looks, but didn't really know them well. Hopefully this escape room would possibly make them all slightly closer. She recognized Ami for sure though. How does Ami have so much energy... Nell started walking around the room, familiarizing herself with each area. There were makeup vanities, worktables, and mannequins. Nell couldn't really figure out much so far, but it would come together. Eventually. Hopefully.
Nell watched as Ami handed a girl, Aurora, a piece of paper. She glanced at it to see a list of names. She knew that the names were a list of contestants, one of them being the very culprit they were searching for. She assumed the paper would be passed around though, so Nell didn't try and peer over Aurora's shoulder.
At this point, nothing really made much sense to Nell. She really needed to take a look at the names and - descriptions? - on that list to get her brain thinking. Nell would never admit it, but she was pretty good at problem solving. Hopefully this escape room would really test her mind out.

Starlee's first escape room. She was excited, no ecstatic, about taking part in another battle of wits. She had just participated in the Slytherin vs. Gryffindor Dormbattles a few days earlier, but an escape room was a whole new beast. She had seen these kind of things on the telly and on youtube, and thought that they looked like so much fun. Honestly, Starlee wasn't the most competitive sport, and the idea of a collaborative escape room where your only competitor was... well... the room itself, sounded like a good challenge. So when sign-up's appeared for one to be held at Hogwarts, Starlee put her name on the list as fast as she could.
What she hadn't realized, was the theming. She had honestly just picked the middle one for it's difficulty level - She didn't want something too easy, nor something too hard, so the middle seemed like her perfect Goldilocks fit. But when she entered, the blazing drag race pink was almost blinding, as opposed to the dank darkness of those escape rooms that she had seen prior.
After her eyes adjusted, she took the time to listen to the rules that their wonderful host, Ami, had formed. She vaguely remembered Ami had worked alongside Willow to set up the field day events that were held at the beginning of the school year, as well as the Quidditch Scrimmage that had recently taken place, so Starlee knew they were all in good hands. Ami then handed a list of names to Aurora, another girl she remembered from the Quidditch Scrimmage, one who was a fantastic seeker. Aurora immediately suggested it was Violet, who, like Aurora, was another Quidditch Scrimmage attender, but one on the opposite team as Aurora and herself. She tried to silently giggle at Aurora's claim, as she really disliked Violet after some of the trash talk she had thrown at Starlee during that match. She didn't know the other two there, but she would smile at the both of them pleasantly.
She peered over Aurora's shoulder to try and get a look at the names on the list. Nothing seemed to stick out at her, it seemed that each person could have a reason for stealing this oh-so-treasured fedora.
The gears in her head began to whir as she began to think through scenarios. She studied the werkroom tables, two of them sticking out to her - the ones with open bags. Of course, this could be simply due to the rush as the contestants left for their challenge, but, it could also be because whoever stole it didn't have the time to close the bag back up after shoving a stolen fedora in it. However, the real big ticket item seemed to be the locked trunk that sat on the completely empty table, strange if you compared them to the other cluttered tables. It was locked, but that was no problem for a witch.
She turned to the group, settled on her decision to attempt to open the locked trunk. "I'm going to check out that trunk." she said to the group, making her way over to it. "The tables with the open bags underneath could be worth searching too..." she said, as she reached the table with the trunk. She raised her wand, and said a quick "Alohomora!" Compared to the rest of the cluttered tables, this locked trunk was just to suspicious to leave sitting there unopened.

Michael was excited, he had participated in the Slytherin vs. Gryffindor Dorm battles days earlier, but an escape room was a whole new test, especially considering he had never been in one. When he had signed up for the room, he thought it would be a fun way to make friends.
Now as he stepped into the room, he realized that this might not be the best place to make new friends, as the others didn't look too keen for conversation with a first year like himself. He hummed as he walked around the room, thinking about what to look at first, maybe The Makeup Vanities would be worth looking at?
Michael nodded to himself before walking over to vanities, maybe the fedora hat was just. . . Misplaced. Michael crouched down to look through everything. He started to hum as he did, random tones until he was humming small parts from Mozart.
Michael wasn't looking over the room anymore so he didn't see the others go to do their own things. He wasn't listening to them talk or proclaim their guesses. Michael was content in his searching, of the Makeup Vanities. Maybe he would find something, maybe not. Hopefully, he would.
