PRIDE 2021 Not Quite Sweater Weather Anymore

Reducio
Participants: @Scarlett Aden, @Tory Williamson, @Ellie Griffin.

The closet. Something that Ami was rather unfamiliar with, actually. She had grown up in a supportive environment with supportive parents and had never felt the need to ever hide her sexual preference or love for cross-dressing. In fact, she was probably more flamboyant than a majority of queer teenagers her age, already wearing her colors completely out on her sleeve. Unfortunately, not everyone was as lucky as she was, and this escape room would highlight that fact while still celebrating those who were unable to freely express themselves. Being in the closet sucked, especially if you didn't want to be in there, so Ami felt like this escape room had a certain level of realness to it that the other one didn't have. As the students began to arrive, Ami would make small talk with those who were willing, before clapping her hands together once everyone who had signed up arrived.

"Welcome to Not Quite Sweater Weather Anymore!" she said, raising her voice slightly to ensure that everyone could hear her loud and clear. "Thank you all for coming out to celebrate Pride Month with me. I'm hoping you guys are ready to get started, but real quick before you do, there are a few rules I want to let you guys know first." Pausing, she waited until she had everyone's attention before continuing. "So, first, the room itself is perfectly safe. Nothing in there will hurt you unless you hurt it first. That being said, for your own safety, please do not climb on the furniture inside. All that will happen is that you will fall and get injured. Your second rule is to note that this hourglass-" Here, Ami lifted a glass hourglass filled with sand to show the participants. "-is not a part of your escaping experience. This is simply to measure the time and let you know how much time you have left to solve all the puzzles. And finally, if you need help, please raise your wand and shoot either red or green sparks into the air. I will not be in the room with you, so this will let me know that you need my assistance. Okay? Okay. If any of you naughty children break these very simple rules, I will ask you to leave the escape room. Let's take a look inside, then, shall we?"

Ami opened the door to the room, making sure everyone was inside before shutting the door behind her. The participants would find that they were, quite literally, in a closet. While it was a rather large and extravagant walk-in closet, it was still a closet nonetheless. "Friends, we gather here today on an important mission," Ami called, this part of the whole escape room experience clearly planned and practiced extensively. "It is up to us to help save the life of this poor student. I'm not sure how many of you all can relate to this, but sometimes those who are a part of the LGBTQ+ community have to hide it, for their own safety. Outing someone, or revealing their sexuality or gender to someone else without permission, is one of the worst and most dangerous things you can do to someone. It goes without saying that it is up to each and every person to come out on their own terms and in their own time. Unfortunately, while this closet is filled with beautiful clothes, the person who owns this closet is significantly less beautiful. They are in possession of evidence that they're planning to use to out a student, and we need to find that evidence and destroy it, by any means necessary. I have intel that the owner will be out shopping, but you guys better work fast- they'll be back in an hour."

Flipping the hourglass and placing it on a shelf by the door, Ami waved to the participants before exiting the room. "Good luck, and have fun! Remember, find the evidence, and destroy it!"
AREAS OF INTEREST YOU MAY WANT TO EXPLORE
The Entire Closet

Reducio
As Ami so blatantly pointed out, the closet is filled with "beautiful clothes", although the actual space is pretty plain. 4 walls, each side filled with shelves, drawers, bars loaded with hangers- nothing particularly sinister about it. Everything is painted white, although the floor is a light hardwood, and anything made of metal is silver. It's approximately 9 ft by 9 ft (3 meters by 3 meters), so it's undoubtedly on the larger side of walk-in closets, but there's nothing outrageous about it.
The Drawers

Reducio
Towards the north side of the closet are drawers coming up to about chest height, with 3 columns of 5 drawers each. 15 drawers seem excessive, especially considering all of the other clothes in the room, but they don't appear to be locked.
The Shelves

Reducio
Of course, any good closet has to have shelves. Whether for t-shirts, shoes, purses, jewelry, little trinkets... whatever you want to have out on display in your fabulous closet, a shelf is a perfect place to put it. On the east side of the closet, 8 impressive shelves contain all kinds of shoes, purses, and jewelry stands, along with two large cabinet spaces underneath. The cabinet doors appear to be zip-tied shut.
The Hangers

Reducio
On the west side of the closet, a long metal bar is mounted into the wall with dozens and dozens of hangers. Fabulous dresses, splendid suits, lavish coats, and everything in between hangs from this bar, and all the clothes seem to be pretty high quality and expensive-looking.
The Display Cases

Reducio
On the wall with the door in which the participants entered through towards the south, there are two large glass display cases on either side of the door. On the left, the case holds an expensive-looking necklace with several large jewels. On the right, the case holds a brilliantly shining tiara made of gold and what appears to be rubies.
UH... AMI, WHAT NOW?
Reducio
Now you play! Explore the spaces around you, talk to your fellow participants, and find that evidence. If you've ever played an escape room in real life, you'll know that you look around the room to find clues and puzzles to solve, which is exactly how this one will work. Because this is the first round, I highly advise that you start by investigating the room.

Please only have one action per round. Clearly state this action at the bottom of your post. This includes examining items, searching clothes or drawers, or attempting to solve a puzzle. Free actions (these are not your main action) include talking and moving. If you want to be super helpful to me, link your trunk in your post.
CHOOSING AN INFORMED ACTION
Reducio
You may choose whatever action you want while inside the escape room. Please keep in mind the rules that Ami has told the participants IC, as breaking these rules will warrant removal from the room IC and the thread OOC.

When observing or investigating something, I will be rolling using your wisdom stat. A more general observation (ex. "investigating the drawers") will have a higher DC to actually find specific details, while if you're investigating something more specific and focused (ex. "investigating the 5 drawers on the left") will have a lower DC to notice small details. See: a general observation will cover more at once but lack the detail, and vice versa. Whatever your character observes, only they will know that information. Make sure to share information you find with other participants IC in order to be successful.

When casting a spell, I will follow DCs put in place by the dueling team. If a spell has no DC, I will go with the average DC for that spell's year (ie, first year spell = DC of 9).

When solving a puzzle, I will not be rolling for wisdom. These puzzles are entirely on you, the user, to solve OOC. If you solve it, then your character will solve it.

Each person will receive a total of three clues. Use them, or don't- if you want to, just owl or DM me on Discord with your request, and I will do my best to provide some guidance.
DEADLINE TO POST IS JULY 3.

Scarlett was very gay indeed. But she didn't really feel in the mood to deal with a fact she had known for about two years, so she dismissed the thought and decided to think about her gayness later, when she had more time and was in a thinking sort-of mood. Right now, she most definitely wasn't in a thinking mood, which was all the better! Because apparently, the event she would be participating in - organised by Admiral Gay, Ami Procoppio - would be mainly digging around shelves and destroying things, which sounded very fun.

It was Pride Month for Muggles, though Scarlett wouldn't let her being a witch stop her from wearing a not-so-subtle t-shirt in the colours of the lesbian flag. Wouldn't hurt, right? She checked it out in the mirror quickly, and decided she liked it very much, grabbing some mirrored sunglasses on the way out as to look cooler.

Scarlett arrived at the area quite early, though her fellow allies trickled in afterwards. She listened to Ami's instructions. The closet. A common Muggle term for someone who hadn't come out to people yet (Scarlett did her research). Scarlett considered herself closeted to her family and most of her friends. But to the people just arriving at the event, Scarlett was most definitely gay. It was weird, how she felt that coming out to random strangers was so much easier than coming out to people she knew and loved.

But she would think about that later. Right now? She had some clothing to destroy.

She rushed headfirst into the closet, gesturing to her comrades to follow along. "C'mon people! Chop chop! We have an hour and a ton of clothing to destroy so get moving!" Scarlett was half tempted to just destroy the whole closet and be done with it, but realised that would take some fun out of the game. It was a lovely closet, she had to admit though.

She headed towards the 15 drawers, intending to start her investigation there.

And here Tory was. In the closet with some stranger. No, literally, in a closet escape room. How did she even end up here? Honestly, she had no idea why she kept signing herself for these social things. She’d much rather read all alone in the Gryffindor the common room then hangout with some random people. Oh, well, hopefully this’d be fun. Tory would admit, she did indeed think this idea was cool. I mean, doing an escape room to celebrate muggle Pride Month- it was surely creative! The girl had never even done an escape room, let alone celebrate the special month, so this activity was bound to bring her a good time.

She had arrived shortly after another contestant with very curly red hair, mumbling a quick “Hello” that probably wasn’t heard. Glancing at her fellow player, Tory had suddenly felt as though she wasn’t dressed properly. The girl was dressed in a lesbian flag t-shirt (Tory only knew what the flag looked like because she had seen it once in some book years ago), along with matching sunglasses. Well, too late now to fix her boring jeans and sweater now, wasn’t it? She had no pride flag merch in her own closet, as her mother had never mentioned gayness nor anything other than marrying a man having a bunch of children someday.

Tory, of course, didn’t think the same way, but not like she ever got the chance to say it. She silently listened to the instructions and meaning of this activity when the organizer of it explained. The young girl was quite sad for the people that couldn’t be themselves. It was unfortunate to hear that some members of the LGBTQ+ community’s safety depended on not coming out. Was this really the world that she was living in?

Anyways, right when the two had both walked into the closet, the girl had immediately spoken enthusiastically, Tory just nodding along. “Erm- yeah. I’m Tory, by the way..” She said quickly, then moving her way to the west side of the closet, where she was planning to begin with racking through the clothes hanging on the metal bar. If she had any luck, she’d fine some evidence there. The time was already passing, and fast.
