Learning To Fly PV: Aspen Summers

The Hogwarts grounds were now a shading colour of white snow and green grass, the snow was slowly melting away as the month of February ended, leaving its cold trail behind. The sun was behind the clouds, however little rays of sunshine could be seen, warming the cold cheeks of Violet Carrington, who was taking a long walk on the castle grounds in her free time while reading a book. She was one of the few people that could concentrate on her reading and studying while walking at a steady peace, stopping ocassionally to read more intently the words that the book had written in its delicate paper pages.

A bit more than a week had passed since her birthday, which had been practically uneventful except for the necklace that her mother sent her by owl post. Violet thought that it was a nice gift, and had started wearing it ever since it had been sent to her, but the beauty of the object and the thought that her mother had sent her a owl for the first time since her stay at Hogwarts kept distracting her from practically everything. That is why she had decided not to wear the necklace that day, and for that reason she was fully concentrated on her book.

When Violet reached a bunch of oak trees almost near the Great Lake, she heard a shriek that seemed to come from a bird. She looked up suddenly, but the oak trees were hiding the view of the sky, so she couldn't see anything odd from where she was. The Slytherin shrugged, and casually went back to her book, when suddenly she heard some branches up front of her fall and a slight shriek like the one she heard before~

A owl was on the floor between the twigs and leaves of the oak tree, not moving at all, but with its eyes wide open. Violet could see a few scratches on its body and some of his feathers loose, on the ground. Vi looked around and didn't dare touch the poor owl. She was scared that she might do something wrong, for she was not a professional in animal care or in healing in general. Her first thought was to go to the school library to retrieve some books to help her out, however the thought of leaving this owl there wasn't pleasant at all. "A-are you okay?" she asked to it. However, she thought it was a stupid question. She was talking to a creature that clearly did not talk the same language as her, and the animal was obviously not okay. She looked around to see if someone who would be more intelligent when it came to taking came of animals would appear...maybe a miracle.

Feb. 22/Grounds
The snow is a magical thing. Fluffy, white flakes float down and cover the ground, creating a blanket over the grass.

Aspen's black hair is turning whiter with each step, as large flakes coat her hair like a cold hat. With a cup of steaming tea curled up in her hands, Aspen's morning walk is a peaceful thing. A dorm-mate of Aspen walks past her, sending over a wave and smile, and Aspen sends the greeting back, feeling at peace in the beautiful morning.

As Aspen passes an oak tree, she is reminded of her day back in November, the day where she started to find herself here at Hogwarts, all thanks to a girl named Gia. Now somehow, though she has tried, Aspen has not been able to find Gia again, but each time she sees this tree, Aspen feels a sense of wonder and pride, for climbing it and laughing, having fun, and getting over her tears. Suddenly, Aspen hears a shriek coming from one of the trees. She throws down her tea, leaving a grey stain on the snow, and runs over, wand in hand.

When Aspen reaches the tree, she finds a girl huddled over an owl who looks hurt, murmuring to the poor creature. "Oh my gosh, is it okay?" Aspen asks, only a foot or so away from the girl.
