Mischief with Slime Errand finished

Knowledge of the magical creatures was rather limited for Henry. Having been born to muggles, Henry hadn’t even heard of most of the magical creatures until Potions. In Potions class, they learned about the animals that had parts that could be used in potions. So, he knew of a few creatures. Despite not being as booky as many of his fellow Ravenclaw’s, Henry had done a little bit of reading on other magical creatures, just to see which ones were real from fairytales.

Needless to say, discovering that dragons were real was awesome.

Still, he barely managed to hear about the flobberworm task that the Care of Magical Creatures professor had set forth. Something about having too many and not having anywhere to put them. Though Henry had never taken the class – it was only available come third year – he was kind of curious to interact with a magical creature. Flobberworms weren’t necessarily the most interesting or appealing creature, but they were a start. He kind of wanted to test the water to see if it was a class he would want to take in the future, anyway.

Henry didn’t know if any of his other friends were caring for a worm, but when he heard K was going to be doing the errand, he decided he would tag along. Anything with K was fun. Though, Henry occasionally hesitated about spending time with K, since he was aware of the crush he had on the older boy. Spending too much time with him made the silly feelings grow stronger, and he was afraid of what it would feel like when K, inevitably, told him he didn’t reciprocate. Still, he didn’t want to avoid him entirely. He was still a pretty cool guy.

The two had agreed to meet up on the grounds, but Henry was really bad at remembering things. He also wasn’t much of a morning person, so getting up had been a bit of a struggle. Still, he managed to pull himself out of bed and throw some things on before heading out of the common room. Early as it was, Henry still stopped by the Great Hall to grab a few things to eat. He was a growing boy, after all, and was constantly hungry because of it. Sometimes his mum described him as a bottomless pit. She said the same thing about Daniel, though, so he guessed it was a boy thing.

Still, he couldn’t function on an empty stomach. Losing track of time, Henry slowly ate his food and chatted with those near him at the table. He enjoyed talking to his friends and was glad to have some to talk to in the morning. It was helping him wake up a little bit as his brain worked to think of what to say. He was finishing up a piece of toast when he glanced at a clock and remembered he should check the time. That was when he realized he had lost track of time and got up quickly, excusing himself and hurrying out of the Great Hall.

As he walked, Henry attempted to remember where K said to meet up, and was drawing a blank. This was going to make him even later, since he was going to have to wander quite a bit to find K. It was also chilly out, which meant Henry was stuck trying to warm his arms up. Even with three layers on, he was still a little cold. Along with being a bottomless pit back home, his mum also called him a walking stick, since was really skinny for his height.

Speeding across the grounds, he tried near the edge of the forest first, walking a good distance away. The forest weirded him out, sometimes, and he didn’t let getting too close. Walking passed the groundskeepers hut, Henry shivered at the memory of shoveling mooncalf dung for detention. He swore to never get detention again. Hopefully, taking care of this flobberworm would give some professors and his prefect a better impression of him. He was seen as a bit troublesome in class because of his inability to focus, but he had only managed to get detention once.

Walking for a little bit longer, Henry finally spotted what looked like K. In the tree behind his friend was a little orange speck, which could only be Loki. Speeding up just a little bit more, he finally got closer to the tree, where K got up to greet him. “Hey, sorry for taking so long, I forgot where you were.” He said, a little out of breath from all the walking he had just done. He felt bad for being late, but he was there now. Hopefully, taking care of this flobberworm wouldn’t be too hard, Henry wasn’t sure how it even worked. Maybe K would have a better idea.

Henry left his messager type bag and books at his dormitory instead he had a his muggle camera around his neck. Well one of his muggle cameras; one was a muggle camera that ran on electricity that he leaves in his trunk for summer, winter holiday, and perhaps hogsmeade visits. The second is his non electric camera and rather old timely muggle camera so it could work at Hogwarts without any problems. The twelve year old had the scrap around his neck and was occasionally taking pictures of his flobberworm before carefully feeling it's underbelly and slime as if testing it.

Loki however would run up to Henry Llewellyn and not purr or show any sign of affection, meow toward the red head as if asking him to pet him. After the cat would paw at Henry Llewellyn for a bit, the cat would run back toward his owner and jump up the tree toward a branch only a few feet off the ground before circling for a bit and eventually sitting down.

The twelve year old would then look up and see his red head friend approaching smiling a bit while he spoke " Hey Red! Brilliant to see you," noticing the flobberworm his friend had and making room under the tree for Henry Llewellyn before speaking again " I brought my camera along to take pictures, I hope you don't mind," photography was one of the things that Henry loved more then anything.

The would wait a few minutes and look across at the great lake before back at his flobberworm time ensure it was still next to him before looking at Henry Llewellyn while he spoke,
" do you know how to care for a flobberworm, red? I could tell you a facts on them if you like."

It was interesting, just carrying the flobberworm around with him. Henry had gone to grab it as soon as he had remembered, but found it a little odd to carry. For one, it secreted so much that he was leaving a trail where he walked. As funny as this was, he was trying very hard not to get any of it on his clothing, he didn’t know if it would wash out. He was sure wizards had special methods of cleaning clothes for this kind of thing, but he didn’t want to chance it. So he carried it carefully as he looked for K, glad to finally spot him. He smiled at Loki as he was greeted, unable to really pet the cat, but at least acknowledging his presence.

As soon as Loki was done saying hello, though, he was back to the tree and Henry made his way closer to K. “Great to see you too,” he responded, starting to get the hang of spending time around K without getting to flustered. “Not at all. I didn’t know you had a camera, that’s pretty cool.” Henry added on, heading up to K before dropping into a seated position before him, setting his flobberworm down in front of him, near K’s. It was almost like a playdate and Henry couldn’t help the laugh that bubbled up from realizing this. It was like they were parents setting their children up for a playdate. Of course, the situation really wasn’t anything akin to that, but Henry still thought it was funny.

“Not really. A few pointers would be great,” he responded, glad K might have some idea about what to do. Before this, Henry hadn’t done much reading on magical creatures, so taking care of one was new. K had been at Hogwarts a little longer, though, so he might have a better idea of what to do.

Henry nodded toward his red headed friend with a small smile as he noticed that Henry Llewellyn had a bit of slime on his robes so Henry took his wand from his jacket and pointed it at his friend's robes as he spoke "Scourgify," the cleaning spell that the boy learned in first year should clean off the slime.

" uh, thanks I have been meaning to use it more," Henry replied to his friend before lining up another photo and snapping it remembering that he wood need to check them later somehow that was... Henry looked at their two flobberworm producing trail's of slime as the twelve year old laughed a bit and as joke said "the flobberworms produce so much slime that you could collect it and use it for a prank later almost," before sliding his wand back inside his jacket pocket and letting his camera hang from his neck as he looked over at Henry Llewellyn.

Hearing his friend speak and with a smile as Henry started to think of the basics of flobberworms and how to care for them before saying " do flobberworms are quite slow and overall don't do a lot. Their diet contains mainly lettuce and other types of leafy greens and also their mostly know for the smile that emits from their body." Thinking a bit if he missed something but coming up a bit empty so instead the second year asked " any questions, Red?"

It was a little unfortunate that the flobberworms excreted so much slime, since Henry wasn’t sure how best to clean it up. When K spoke the cleaning charm, though, Henry felt really silly for not thinking about it. Henry wasn’t really as smart as some of his Ravenclaw counterparts. Him and a friend had determined that he was in Ravenclaw for his creativity, but definitely not his intellect. K was smarter than him, he should have been a Ravenclaw. Still, the sorting hat knew what it was doing.

The camera was pretty cool, since it had been a while since Henry had seen anything muggle related. After starting at Hogwarts, Henry hadn’t really seen much muggle stuff. Technology didn’t exactly work at the old castle. It wasn’t like there were any outlets, either. The camera K had looked kind of old, though, so he wondered if it worked better at Hogwarts. When K mentioned that they could use the slime for a prank, a million ideas immediately began racing through his head. “It could be so useful,” he agreed, looking down at the flobberworms. He didn’t have any way to collect the slime, though.

Henry nodded as K explained a bit about the flobberworms. “Do leafy greens have to be specifically ones that are considered edible? Or would a leaf from this tree work?” He asked, indicating the tree the sat under. It didn’t really have any leaves, though, since it was winter. “Otherwise, I think that probably covers it. I remember learning about them in potions.” They hadn’t really discussed much about how to take care of them, but it seemed pretty straightforward.

After watching the cleaning job success, the twelve year old nodded before sliding his wand away. A part of Henry always wanted to he in Ravenclaw and before arriving to the school was expecting to be in the house of knowledge just like his mum. Actually during his sorting ceremony, the hat announced the first part of the house and was about to sort the second year in ravenclaw if it wasn't for a last minute decision of the hat that got him placed in the house of snakes...

At first, Henry was rather hurt that he washy in ravenclaw and still a bit now but the boy is rather glad to be in slytherin even if at times it can be rather annoying. Henry smiled at Red as the topic about the smile came up and instantly the second year looked around for something to hold the slime in but came up empty handed.

When he heard Henry Llewellyn's question, the second year smiled a bit as he pulled out a paper bag filled of lettuce before handing to the red head as he spoke" any leaf can work as long as its edible and not poisonous. I brought those from the great hall if you like to use those and you can also use the bag to collect slime if you like," Henry smiled toward his friend before taking a piece of leafy lettuce out from the bag and placing it on the ground in front of the flobberworm he was suppose to be caring for.

The flobberworm would slowly munch on the green, allowing Henry some time to snap a photo of the flobberworm eating which wasn't that good of a shot but practice is practice. Pocketing the photo in his jacket as he turned toward Red before saying, " smile," holding the camera up to his eye and taking a picture of his friend as he focused it for a moment for clicking the button.

Pocketing that photo and having a feeling he was going to he developing the photos that night in solution as he put down his camera and looked over at Henry Llewellyn with a smile when he heard his words as he nodded before speaking" that's cool mate, maybe later I could help you learn the slug vomiting charm it's a second year charm, if you want,"

It came in handy that K knew more spells than him. Henry barely knew any, since he was just a first year and the year wasn’t even over yet. Though, he did realize he knew the cleaning spell, it still wasn’t his natural response to automatically think of using magic to solve the problem. K had, though, and now his clothes were fine and they could spend the day with their charges while keeping their clothing clean.

It was kind of interesting to Henry that K wasn’t in Ravenclaw with him, but then again, Henry didn’t feel like much of a Ravenclaw sometimes. He and a friend had discussed why he might have ended up in Ravenclaw, but based on all the houses basic characteristics, he considered himself much more like the Hufflepuffs. Still, the hat apparently did no wrong, it was just hard to be a Ravenclaw and not be as book smart.

Henry nodded as K explained that any leaf worked, but he also had some lettuce, so that worked perfectly. Henry took it with a grin. “Thanks,” he said, grabbing some and placing it before his flobberworm, just as K had. He watched it munch away, curious to know how it chewed. Or digested. It was such a bizarre creature. Still, they had the bag to collect slime, so that was perfect. They would have to find another place to keep it, Henry wasn’t sure how well a paper bag would hold the slime for long, but it was a great solution for now.

When K said the magic ‘I’m taking a picture’ word, Henry turned and looked over, grinning with his eyes closed. This was often the face he made when taking pictures back home, scrunching his nose up and putting on the biggest grin he could muster. It always made for great laughs when the family photo album got pulled out. It was cool, though, that K had a camera. Perhaps he could convince his parents to get him an old-fashioned camera, so that he could take pictures at school. It would be cool to show his family what his friends looked like and the things he got to do at school.

Henry’s brows creased when K suggested teaching him the slug vomiting charm. He had never heard of that one. “Does that do literally what it says?” He asked, contemplating the mere idea of vomiting slugs. “It doesn’t sound very pleasant.” He added on, wondering what the usefulness of that spell was. Perhaps in fights it would distract an opponent, but it seemed rather useless.

Henry nodded toward the red head as he handed him the lettuce and paper bag before looking back at his own flobberworm to watch as the thing digested and ate. The progress was odd but also interesting as the twelve year old took mental notes on how the flobberworm ate while also telling himself that later he would be going to the libary to read more on the slime dripping worm not that the second year already didn't know a bit about them which he did.

Focusing the camera on his friend as the second year look though the lens finder while shutting one eye. The twelve year old framed out the shot before focusing it on the face of his friend posing for the picture before taking the picture. A moment later and the picture slowly popped out, the second year would safely pocket the picture as he spoke" I'll show you late when I developed it tonight," the boy definitely preferred his muggle digital camera but since muggle technology didn't work at Hogwarts had to use his rather old fashion muggle camera. Seems tiring, why not just use a wizard camera?

When the second year heard his friend question, Henry would smile a bit as he spoke" yeah it does, if hit with the spell then you start vomiting slugs," however when he heard Henry Llewellyn's comment about the charm it only made Henry grin a little as he remembered duelers using it in duels. Henry personally hasn't used the spell yet but he has dodge the spell once or twice before as he spoke" It's not but it's a popular dueling spell."

Setting the bag down for the moment, Henry simply watched the flobberworms, enjoying the time outside. Despite it being pretty cold out, it was kind of nice. It wasn’t very often that he took a moment to stop doing things and to take a deep breath. Doing so as he thought about it, Henry smiled at K, glad to be spending more time with him. Even though he hadn’t said anything about his small crush on the other boy, it was still nice to just hang out. Did he occasionally over think their relationship? Most definitely. Was now one of those times? Thankfully, not.

It was really cool that K had a camera with him. Henry was pretty sure he’d seen a camera similar to that, but wasn’t sure where. Either way, he wondered if he could convince his parents to let him get one. It would be awesome to get to document his time at Hogwarts. Then he could send pictures home to his family the same way they sent pictures to him. He had to rely on describing his friends and the things he did. “Awesome,” was all he said in response to K. It really was awesome that he could see a picture of himself. Other than the bathroom mirrors, he hadn’t seen much of his own face. He was in desperate need of a haircut, though.

The thought of a spell that made someone vomit slugs was really gross to Henry. Other than for duelling, what was it good for? “That’s so gross,” he muttered, just thinking about it was making him want to be sick. He hated vomiting, vomiting slugs sounded awful. He supposed in battles it could be useful, not just in duels, to distract the attacker. “What other weird spells do you use when duelling?” Henry kind of wanted to know. As weird as the slug vomiting one was, there had to be others that he hadn’t heard of.
