Amara was on edge. Each day bled into another, a never-ending rotation of class, meals, studying, and repeat. She needed something new, something exciting, something crazy. Snapping her book shut, Amara grabs her wand and slips out of the Dorea Dorm and into the Slytherin common room. Who cares if there are hags on the loose, or if the grounds are dangerous, adrenaline is coursing through the second year's veins and nothing will stop her. Right as she goes to slip out of the common room and out into the castle, Amara notices a dark-haired girl watching her with a calculated expression.
"Are you coming?" The blonde asks with a quirk of her eyebrow. She grins, seeing the older, dark-haired girl rise and following her out.
The two make their way through the castle, soundless footsteps, likely from the girls' years of dance, follow the heiresses as they make their way out into the grounds. Feeling an urge to trust this girl, Amara takes the lead as the other girl follows.
A starless sky, a subtle glow of the moon, and an aura of danger sets as the Slytherins make their way over to a group of shadowed figures assembled near the great lake.
The scene; set. The players; in position. Only time will tell us what happens next.

Clearing her throat mildly uncomfortably, Ami wrapped her arms around her stomach, hugging herself tightly as the heels of her shoes clicked on the stone floor, echoing slightly through the corridors. There were very few, if any people wandering about at this time of night, what with the hags and all, but she desperately needed to get some air.
There was a large assortment of things on her mind, but at the very front was her recent encounter with one Ruby Cazares. Despite the Nurse's excellent healing, she still winced slightly as she walked, every step a reminder of the helplessness she had felt, lying on the cold stone floor of the Dungeons. She thought that she had gotten stronger, both physically and mentally, since being set on fire by Dorian, jumped on by Eris, and brawling with Ruby and Pericles, but apparently, that hadn't been the case.
And she had never felt worse about herself in her entire life. Sure, at least she and Scott were the best of friends now, but... wasn't she supposed to improve? Wasn't she supposed to be able to handle two meaningless spells? If she couldn't even handle that, did she deserve to be on the Headliner team? Did she deserve her title as Quidditch co-captain?
No. She didn't. Because she simply wasn't good enough.
Making her way out of the castle and towards the grounds, Ami took a deep breath, inhaling the night air before sighing loudly. What was wrong with her? She was better than this. She was stronger than this, she had to be. Right? She found that her feet moved of their own accord, carrying her towards the shore of the Great Lake subconsciously. The spot where she'd been comforted by Scott, and where she'd fought with him just last spring. Clearly, there was something magical about this spot that drew her here... or maybe it was just the memories, both good and bad.
But as she stood on the banks of the Great Lake, she noticed shadows. More figures. Her fists clenching in apprehension, she silently cursed herself as she realized that she had left her wand back in her dorm. Perfect. Just what she needed.
"Who's there?" she called out to the darkness, narrowing her eyes in vain as she attempted to pick out the figures. "Show yourself!"
