Alright, apparently I couldn't make a thread in the forbidden forest for some reason even though I have access to it, so we'll have to go it here instead. Sorry about that.
Katie was sitting atop her warm picnic blanket eating mini sandwiches that she'd snagged from the Great Hall earlier. She also had mini celery sticks with peanut butter smeared in their tiny center cracks, strawberries, and an apple spread out on her blanket. She liked eating outdoors. It was peaceful for her and away from all the mindless charter of the great hall.
Katie didn't know if she was technically allowed to eat on the grounds, but she wasn't hurting anyone and she didn't care what was technically allowed add long as she didn't get caught and no-one got hurt. And she was a Slytherin of course, so she'd make sure she wouldn't get caught.
Before she'd come to Hogwarts, she'd hardly spoken to anyone else her age. She'd come filled with notions that her traditional pure-blood parents had drilled into her brain from a young age, and found her parents were wrong. Her parents had told her that pure-bloods were superior, but that couldn't be true. There were simply too many half bloods and muggle borns who were just as powerful as herself and the other pure-bloods attending, if not more so. Katie realized that she didn't care what her parents thought anymore and that her parents were wrong in their ways. She had initially felt disappointed in believing in them, but now, she wanted to put that revelation behind her, and move in with her life, being grateful that she was less prejudiced than she had been when she had arrived.
Upon arrival, Katie had quickly learned that she loved herbology, potions, and history of magic. She found all the of those subjects fascinating. Of course, she'd always known she'd liked plants, as Katie had been naturally drawn to the plants in her manor, but she'd had no idea he much she'd enjoy history of magic, for instance.
Katie finished the last of her mini sandwiches and started to eat her celery sticks with peanut butter.

It was a nice day - a bit hotter than normal, but still a good day with the occasional breeze. Since she had spent so much time inside, Callista thought it would do her good to go outside for a breath of fresh air. She avoided the Great Lake and veered towards the sunnier patches of ground nearby. Callista breathed and sighed contently.

As she walked, she spotted a girl with brown hair sitting on what appeared to be a picnic blanket. She was... eating mini sandwiches, small celery sticks with - was that peanut butter? Callista wasn't sure - strawberries, and an apple. She seemed to be thinking about something. Callista walked over quietly and leaned against a tree nearby, under the shade of it's leaves. It was September - fall, her favorite season - although it didn't feel quite like fall yet. The leaves were mostly green, although Callista could spot a few trees with occasional yellow, orange, and red leaves.

She wasn't wearing her Hufflepuff robes at the moment. She was wearing a loose white shirt with a loose, light blue jacket and black leggings. There was no way to tell she was a Hufflepuff, unless someone inferred from her mannerisms.

Callista watched the girl quietly. Her arms were behind her and her hair was loose today. Usually it was in pigtails, but not today. She watched the girl eat her celery sticks. I've never had celery with peanut butter, she mused. I can imagine what it tastes like though. If the girl were to notice her, Callista would smile at her. If she didn't, Callista would clear her throat quietly to attract her attention.
That's alright. It makes sense that students wouldn't be able to post in the Forbidden Forest. I think this is a nice place to do it, so don't worry.

Katie happened to look up at that moment, mid crunch on a bite of a celery stick. She noticed a girl with deep, thoughtful brown eyes looking over at her. Oh. Hello there! Katie said lightly. What a beautiful day to be outside isn't it? Katie asked. She enjoyed the cool, gently breeze that generally accompanied autumn days. Maybe it was just her, but she'd always felt like the earlier months of the calender year were long on seemed to go on forever, and the layer months would be gone in an instant and you'd miss it if you blinks for even a moment. Ssh liked the earlier days of the year though. Lee's pressured associated with getting ready for exams. Add much as Katie loved school, it was the learning new things she loved. Not taking tests that her parents would judge her on. And boy could get parents judge, she thought bitterly. But no. Note was not the time for such thoughts. Now wss the time for enjoying the nice weather while it lasted and note was the time to introduce herself to this girl, who seemed nice and want in the loud clatter and ruckus of the great hall. Now was the time for tranquility and fun. My name's Katie. Katie Palsorette. She said, extending her hand.

The girl on the blanket seemed to sense her somehow, and they met gazes. Callista smiled at her in what she hoped was a friendly way.

"Oh. Hello there! What a beautiful day to be outside isn't it?" the girl remarked. Callista nodded. The other girl seemed to be thinking about something, so she left her to her thoughts. In the meantime, Callista observed the other girl. She seemed happy. Then again, it was hard not to be happy with this kind of weather. Callista fidgeted with her watch, a light blue and gold one.

I should not be here, Callista thought absently. There were other things to do, like reading, studying, doing homework... But she had chosen to watch this new girl, so it would be quite rude if she just walked off right about now.

Suddenly, the girl introduced herself as Katie Palsorette. Callista smiled at her and shook the girl, Katie,'s hand. "I am Callista, Callista Lovis." For some reason, she was not feeling as shy today. Maybe it was just the good weather, or maybe seeing someone eat mini sandwiches and celery sticks with peanut butter just made her more outgoing. Who knows? She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and waited for the girl's response.

Nice to meet you Callista. Katie replied. If you want some of my celery sticks, you can help yourself. she added with a light smile. Katie had always preferred healthier foods for some reason. They just tasted so good to eat and hey, her body wand not complaining, so why not. A lot of people typically thought that her thinner frame was due to her healthy eating habits when they first met her. In reality, while she ate healthily, She ate plenty of food and was just naturally thin.
Her whole family had been relatively thin she supposed. Not that she liked to think of her parents much, but they still technically were related to her.
So are you a first year too? Katie questioned. Obviously Callista looked like she was around Katie's size, but appearances could be deceiving and some people were naturally smaller or larger. Katie herself was a relatively normal height if not slightly on the short side with a thinner but healthy build. Katie smiled up at Callista.
Her napkin briefly tried to fly off of Katie's lay with a guys of wind, but She pinned our down with an elbow add she took another celery stick bite, and waited for Callista to respond.

Katie graciously invited her to eat some celery sticks with her, and Callista smiled in thanks. "Should I take off my shoes?" Callista asked the other girl. It was not uncommon for people to take off their shoes before entering someone's home, and coming from a Japanese and Taiwanese background, this has always been second nature to her. However, it wasn't quite the same for picnic blankets... She didn't want to go on wearing shoes and appear rude, but she also didn't want to take off her shoes if Katie had kept hers on. Callista decided to sit at the edge on the blanket and keep her feet on the grass.

"So are you a first year too?" Katie asked. Callista nodded.

Deciding to say something - even though she would have been perfectly fine observing what was happening all around them - Callista asked the girl, "What is your favorite class so far?" Personally, Callista couldn't really decide... She loved Charms and Astronomy, but she also found Transfiguration and Potions interesting, and Defense Against the Dark Arts a little intimidating but mostly fascinating. Well, then again, all of the classes were fascinating to her. To be honest, the only she didn't like was flying... Callista didn't really think her fear of heights would ever completely go away, although it was much better now. Lost in her thoughts, she gazed at the lake, as if watching something enticing that was happening there.
