The first event of the day had already come and gone with the first years hippity hoppity'ing their way to victory. Willow now had the pleasure of moderating the game of students that were frankly... her elders. She couldn't help the nerves that appeared as she waited for the students to roll in. The tiny badger would be supervising kids way older, well ok, one to two years older, and maybe having to call someone out on cheating? They wouldn't right? As older kids they should know better. While she waited for them to arrive to their station she shook the thoughts out of her head. This was no time to be worrying, she needed to have her game face on for this. Ami chose her to help because she had faith in her! The first year event went fine, so why was she suddenly so worried about this?

No matter, she knew a few of the faces that had signed up. Amadea, a Hufflepuff that she had really gotten to talk to over the summer after the egg race and seeing her around the common room. Aurelia was the leader of the club she had recently joined, SWAG. Ana, her dear friend that she had cried by a lake with that forever held a special place in her heart. There were others that she was excited to meet, but having friends attending the event made her all the more excited. With Professor Lian securing them some big yellow sponges and two buckets of water, it was time for a water game~ Maybe not the best idea for fall. But! That probably would make them be more careful in their grip.

This was it. It took her awhile, but she had been working on her social-emotional skills throughout the summer to bring herself back to her outgoing and bubbly self. The best way to test her limits was to join a game. Better yet, a field day event. There were so many different types of games that were happening and Bloom was excited to be a part of the "Sponge Pass". She had no idea how to play the game, but thankfully she was a fast hands-on learner.

Arriving on the grounds, Bloom saw Willow, who seemed to be leading the game. Her outfit was so cute with the strawberries. What did Bloom wear? Her uniform. She did not really have cute outfits and her uniform was good enough for her. It always brought out her chestnut brown eyes anyways. Bloom's brunette hair was pulled back in a messy bun, her bangs swayed to the side.

It seemed that Bloom was the first to arrive. It was always awkward being first because you would have to figure out what to do and who to talk while waiting patiently. Bloom walked up to Willow with a smile.

"Ready to win!" she joked.

The 'fit
Ana bit her lip. She honestly had no idea why she had chosen to participate in this. Given that her main goal in life these days was to be alone, a field day seemed like the last thing she would have ever chosen to do. Still, when she had the energy, she did everything she could to avoid thinking of her parents, her friends, her summer, anything of substance, really. Generally, that was spending an insane amount of time focused on schoolwork, but today, that manifested itself in her participating in whatever a "field day" was.

The two buckets of water gave Ana slight pause, as she was dressed in a sweater and leather jacket, seeing as it was September in Scotland. She also rather wondered if Willow was cold, as cute as her outfit was. She had contemplated wearing her robes, but seeing as classes didn't start for another few days, she had opted not to. She gave Willow a small wave as she joined the group and glanced around to see who else was there. The only other person she saw that was obviously there for the game was a dark-haired girl that she vaguely recognized as a year above her. Ana was fairly certain she wasn't a fellow Gryffindor, since she would have at least known her name if they were in the same house.

She removed her sunglasses and set them on her head as she glanced around. Her hair was in a minimal effort low ponytail that brushed against her face when the breeze blew. Chewing her lip, she glanced around impatiently. One of her pet peeves in life was being made to wait. If there was one thing she was sure of lately, it was that life was short and she loathed to feel like she was wasting hers.

Jay was sitting on the grass watching the new game being set up. For today they had planned to just participate in two activities, they felt a bit childish for participating in such muggle games. They had nothing to do today so might as well join in on the 'fun'. Besides, on the roster where they signed up it wrote that there were prizes, and well... Jay needed the galleons and the chocolate frogs, chocolate frogs werent exactly the tastiest but the cards were the important part.

They were wearing a sleeveless, cropped, black turtleneck under a white long sleeve school shirt, tucked into high waisted black jeans, along with their favorite shoes- black converse. Jay figured they were going to get wet to they took off the school shirt, perhaps they could change into that afterwards so they can be all nice and dry before the next game.

Jay had no knowledge on how to play the game, whatsoever. All they knew was that they had to play in teams and that it involved water. Nonetheless they hoped to get a hang of it and win... At least they knew what tug of war was, the name itself was pretty self explanatory. They then stood up and walked over to their team, they simply stood there, waiting.

Apparently River had discovered a newfound enjoyment in non-magical games. Some of them she’d been exposed to previously, but some of them were new to her. Like this day for example, where she was watching the new game being set up. The one she would be participating in, when her eyes fell to the buckets of… water. If there was anything she hadn’t been prepared for, it was getting her clothes wet. It also was fall, and she was prone to getting cold quite easily. The thought of being splashed by water sent a chill down her back, as she tucked her hands into the burgundy sleeves on her jumper. Her red hair swayed lightly around her shoulders, framing her face nicely. It was not the most neat head of hair, but it didn’t look too tangled. She pushed a strand behind her ear, praying it wouldn’t get in her way of whatever they’d be doing.

Stepping up to the rest of the players that had also arrived, she smiled. None of them were too familiar to the girl, but she’d seen some of them around. Her eyes kept going back to the buckets, mind churning at the wonder of what they would be playing. She concluded with having no ideas whatsoever about the upcoming game. River was a quick learner, and hoped that this day wouldn’t be any different. Hopefully she’d get the hang of how the game would work, and not get soaked in the process. It wasn’t like that would be the end of the world, she had extra clothes, but there was just nothing appealing about the thought of being splashed.
Looking at the small group of people, she wondered whether any of them would have the upper hand from any previous experience. Perhaps this was a very normal game, and that it was just River who’d never heard of it. She hoped, while she glanced at the students, that it wasn’t the case.

𝓐madea was ready for this event. Sponge passing was something that she had never practiced much before but she was ready to crush this competition! Amadea had promised herself that she was going to be more outgoing and get to know more people this year, especially after how stunted her third year had been, and signing up for this field day was going to be one of the first ways she did it. Plus, it was Ami and Willow who were organizing this event and it would be rude of her not to show her House pride and support for her friends by not signing up.

And so, Amadea was here. As she arrived on scene, she noticed that she was in a team full of Gryffindors. Being the only Hufflepuff normally might have been a little intimidating to her, but she luckily recognized all of the Gryffindors on her team. There was fellow fourth year, Aurelia, a third year named Anastasia Beckett that Amadea had gotten to know and Katrina Walker, who Amadea had seen back during her third year. She was glad that she had been acquainted with all of her team members; hopefully, this would allow them to work together very well and win this sponge passing event!

"Alright team!" Amadea cheered for her fellow Team 1 members. Team 1...they should come up with a better name, but that seemed like a problem for another time as the game was beginning. Amadea readied her position and hoped that her skills would pay off in this competition.

Cecily was here for approximately one reason, and that reason was that Ami was running this day. (Well, she was running it along with a younger student apparently named Willow, but that didn't mean a whole lot to Cecily.) She was here because she supported her friends, and also because she likely would've had to deal with Ami's absolute outrage had no one shown up. Luckily for Cecily, Ami, and anyone the Hufflepuff might talk to, Cecily was far from the only person to arrive.

As Cecily made her way to her event, she saw that most of the other participants had already arrived. She quickly recognised Amadea-- although the newly blonde hair still threw her off-- and gave a wave to the girl before remembering that they were on opposing teams. Not her ideal solution, but it upped the stakes-- bragging rights for the winner (not to mention the galleons and chocolate frogs). The moderator of this game was clear, not only because of her pink hair, but because Cecily didn't recognise her-- she was clearly a younger student. Must be Willow.

Surveying her own team, she gave a warm smile to Bloom, a fellow fourth year she had spoken to a few times. River, a fellow Ravenclaw Prefect, also stood amongst the crowd, and Cecily returned the redhead's smile. The fourth member of their team Cecily wasn't too familiar with, but she was pretty sure she had seen them around before. It was hard to mistake the brightly colored hair-- although there were turning out to be a surprising number of people with dyed hair in this one small area, Cecily realised, noticing Katrina and her teal streak.

Cecily took up a spot standing next to her team, eyeing the buckets of water. Getting soaked was not on her bucket list for today haha, but she bit back a sigh and surrendered any hopes of staying dry. The less she cared, the better she could play the game, and the more fun everyone would have.

Katrina was still a bit confused as to why she had decided to sign up for this. Sure, she was becoming more and more of a fan of physical activities, but she still wasn't one to just sign up for a field day. Her muggle school used to have one, and Katrina had despised it, she was never athletic enough to win anything and it seemed every team she would be on would fail. Nonetheless, here she stood, waiting for instructions for a field day activity.

Katrina was in a black t-shirt she had found crammed in the bottom of her trunk, a scourgify later and it looked clean and presentable. Her shorts she had borrowed from a dorm mate she sort of knew, she had insisted that they match her outfit. Her shoes were sandals, a decent choice since she cared nothing of them and it was starting to warm up a bit. It was one of the first times that Katrina had been around too many other people without covering the scar on her arm, she kept reminding herself that no one would look or would care.

Katrina stood around as the girl organizing the event went on about the rules, the Third Year took the time to look around and figure out who all was here. The first person she saw was Beckett, a dark look crossed her face as she recalled all of their past meetings. This would certainly be different, wouldn't it? There was River, whom Katrina had lost touch of over the summer, but still liked. There was the girl from her summer camp nightmare session [Cecily] and another girl she vaguely recognized.

This would be quite the event, wouldn't it?

Willow greeted everyone as they arrived, assigning them to the teams that were randomly assigned prior to the event. Maybe it would've been better to make sure that they were equally matched, but there was no time for that now. It seemed like they were still missing one person, Aurelia, but Willow didn't want to push too late for the event to start since there was still the Tug of War at the end of all this. With a heavy sigh and a final glance to make sure she wasn't coming, Willow clapped her hands together to call all the attention to her as the students were milling about.

"Ok hi hello friends! Thank you for joining me today for this field day! The third and fourth year event is..." She did the tiniest drumroll on her legs. "A sponge race! First to fill the bucket wins!" She went through and explained all the rules and sat them down in a line to start. "Ok! Last person in the line will end up being the first next round because they have to run and switch positions, so everyone will do a little scoochy scooch back to make room. Super easy and simple! Play nice, play fair, or like... at least don't let me see you do anything." She shrugged and explained the rest of the rules of the game, which there weren't many before counting down. "3... 2... 1... Pass that sponge!"

The teams quickly went to work! Amadea did an incredibly job picking up a decent amount of water for Team 1. But it seemed like despite her name, River couldn't get that much into the sponge. There was always time for improvement at least! Team 1's passes went well, passing overheard easily without a single drop of water leaving it with how gentle and agile they were being. However, once it reached Kat's hands she seemed to fumble and lose a bit of the water right on top of her head before depositing in the bucket.

Team 2 went just as well with their passes, except they took their exceptionally dry sponge on a quick and safe journey over all four heads. Bloom seemed to be super into this game as she wrung out every single drop into Team 2's Bucket. Both Bloom and Katrina would then run to the front of their line with the sponge to start off the next round.

Bloom was so ready for this game. She tightened her bun, ready to keep playing. According to Willow who was running this game, she was on "Team 2" which consisted of River, Jane and Cecily. It was definitely going to be the team that will win and Bloom could sense that they would beat the other team. She took her sponge and walked across as normal as possible and successfully made it. To Bloom, it was exceptionally easy. What's so difficult about this game? she asked herself while watching someone from the other team fail.

Bloom was at the front of the line. She was going to be starting the pass of the sponge and it was on her to make sure to start carefully. They had to fill their bucket to 100 units. When it came to successes, they were on a streak in comparison to the other team, but when it came to the number of units in the bucket, the other team was winning. Bloom wanted to win and she made sure that this time around, she would do a quick pass. She felt that it was easy enough that why not quickly get the sponge and its water to the bucket prior to the other team?

"Here we go," she said aloud to herself, grabbing the sponge.
