Do You Want to Build a Snowman?
Interacting with: N/ASnow. White, fluffy, and cold. Everly remembered getting a mouthful of snow once by accident, and it was cold. She could say that. The Gryffindor sat in the Common Room, only having returned to Hogwarts recently from the winter holidays, and still full of festive cheer. She sat shivering by the fire, her arms wrapped around her, as she tried to read a book but was distracted by the fluffy white snow falling outside the window. Everly made a split second decision and hurried outside, wearing a thick jacket, mittens, boots, and a hat. In the process, she passed by several flyers mentioning an errand building a snowman today, only succeeding in quickening her pace as she hurried outside.
As she walked outside she spotted several students who seemed to had all finished already, with the house elves in the process of charming the snowmen into dancing and singing. Biting her lip slightly she spotted a patch of snow and sat down, using her hands to crudely pack together some snow, adjusting her hands to try to shape it into a ball-like shape. Squinting at it, she began to roll it on the ground, attempting to pack more snow onto the shape, trying to make it larger. Rolling it to a stop, she began to make her way to the second ball of snow, shaping the ball together and making it slightly smaller than the former. After rolling for a while, Everly carefully lifted the ball of snow and placed it gently on top of the first ball of snow, adjusting it slightly. Then the young Gryffindor used her mittens to shape a slightly deformed third ball of snow, trying to make it even smaller than the second, placing it on top.
Everly took a step back and carefully examined her masterpiece, packing in more snow in places that looked loose. The three lumps of snow were slightly crooked and the bottom ball of snow was a bit squashed, but Everly deemed it sufficient enough nonetheless. The girl raced over, carrying two sticks, several small oval shaped stones, a hat, and a carrot. Skipping to a stop, she reached out to place a hat on top of the first ball of snow and stuck in the sticks along the side of the second ball, indicating it's arms. Placing three stones on the snowman's chest and two to indicate it's eyes, as well as a carrot to show it's nose. Everly frowned slightly, switching out the wool hat with a top hat and placing two boots in the snow next to the snowman, as if illustrating the picture that the snowman were walking in boots. She smiled, satisfied. Her snowman was somewhat finished.
Glancing over and spotting the other snowmen dancing and singing, she eagerly waved a house elf over and asked it to charm her complete snowman. Her masterpiece came to life, one hand began to flap uncontrollably as the snowman twitched, as if first realizing it could move. Abruptly, the snowman broke out into song, singing a Muggle song that Everly recognized as "Let It Snow". The boots were left behind, abandoned. The snow that began to fall lightly did nothing but help encourage the festive cheer, as the girl laughed and plopped herself in the snow, making snow angels as the enchanted snowman dancing around, switching tunes, now singing Nothing Like a Holiday Spell by Celestina Warbeck.
Everything was going well until the snowman broke out into tune again, tipped its head slightly mid-dance, and caused its head to fall off the rest of its body and roll away.
Whoops.

Do You Want to Build a Snowman?
January 9, 2021Calypso looked out of her dorm window, captivated by the white-blanketed world she saw beyond the glass. Her open book lay forgotten on her lap. She had always loved snow days. The frigid air, the white flakes falling softly, silently. How warm it always was inside with a nice fire going, wrapped up in a blanket. The sweet taste of hot cocoa on her tongue, paired with a good book. She smiled, recalling all those times when she had built wonky-looking snowpeople and given them strange names.
Speaking of snowpeople... Through the window the young Gryffindor could see a large group of students building shapes out of the white powder. A few of the figures appeared to be... they seemed to have come to life. No, that couldn't be right. But then again, this was Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Anything was possible.
Her curiosity piqued, Cal pulled on her winter jacket, her warm hat, and her thick gloves. With the addition of her snow boots and her House scarf, she was outdoor-ready.
Seven minutes of weaving down staircases and through corridors later, Calypso found herself at a door to outside. Buttoning up her coat, she stepped out into the snow and was greeted by the cold like a playful friend. The lively air swirled and gusted around her, carrying flurries of tiny delicate flakes with it. Like being in a snowglobe, she thought to herself in awe. Though less dizzying, I'd assume.
The eleven-year-old walked down the slope of the hill on which the castle sat, until she came to the group of students. She went over to a nice patch of snow a little ways away from the others, and began to roll the base of her snowperson. After twenty minutes or so of work, she had a nicely-sized bottom level. Next came the middle. Just when that ball was almost done, she accidentally pushed it into an area where the slope of the hill was just prominent enough to let gravity take its course. Cal lunged for the snowball, but it was too late, and off it went.
Rolling down
down
down,
until it came to rest at the base of the hill.
By this time, the snowball was so huge that Calypso knew she wouldn't be able to move it. Disappointment at the loss of the hard work and time that went into rolling the snowperson's middle began to set in, but then Cal had a thought. She pushed the original snowball, the base, down the hill as well, and jogged down to meet it. Though steep, it was a small slope, and she wasn't too far away from her beginning spot by the time she reached the bottom.
The young girl put her back to the second giant ball of snow, and tried to heave it up onto the first. She did not succeed. Two students that must have seen her struggles ran over to help, and between the three of them they managed to get the icy mass on top of its twin. She thanked them, and they ran off back to their own frosty creations. Calypso created a head by rolling another ball in a controlled way only partway down the hill, and carried it strenuously the rest of the way. She heaved it up onto her massive structure, and the eight-foot-tall snowperson took shape.
The hard part over, Cal collected two long bendy sticks for arms, pine needles for hair, and several stones to form a mouth. For the finale, she stuck pinecones in for eyes, and the snowperson was ready.
Calypso beckoned over one of the house elves that were circling like she'd seen some of the others do.
"Excuse me," she said politely. "Would you mind, er, bringing my snowperson to life for me? The small elf nodded enthusiastically. "Oh, yes of course, Miss. Right away." The elf waved her hand at the snow-figure, and scurried away to help someone else.
Cal gazed at her creation in wonder as it stirred. It's pinecone eyes somehow took on a kind of, well, life. "Hello," he said, in a deep, vaguely masculine voice. Calypso laughed. "Hello yourself." the snowperson circled his wrists, then kicked his feet slightly, as if testing them. "Am I..alive?" "Appears so. What's your name?" He put his stick hand to his chin, considering. ..."Gilbert, I think it'll be. Would you like me to sing you a little cheery tune, Miss...?" "Calypso. Why yes. That would be lovely." Gilbert took a few deep breaths, as if preparing himself. Then, inhaling very deeply one last time, he began.
"Deeeeeck the haaals with booows of hooolyyyy..."
And it was very, very, off-tune. Calypso giggled, despite her attempt at manners. But Gilbert was not put off. On the contrary, he seemed to take Calypso's sudden increase in merriment as validation of his skills.
"...Faalaalalalaaaaaa la laaa la laaaaaAaaAAaaaaa!!!!!"

Do You Want to Build a Snowman?
An errand gave her all the more reason to make a snowman. Being able to do something fun and get prizes? It seemed almost unfair, but Lea would prepare herself for the outdoors, thinking of what snowman she'd like to make. Perhaps just a classic design- or maybe something else?
Her snowman idea was partly why the girl left the castle, only her eyes visible from behind the pile of scarves wrapped around her neck. She had decided to bring an extra one, a simple addition to her completed snowman. Currently, though, it either threatened to cover her eyes or fall off into the snow, adding some time to her walk over as she paused to adjust it once more. It did seem to be helping, though, less cold than if she had the second scarf off. Her coat was probably doing most of the work in keeping her warm, though.
Everything was ready for making snowmen- coal, carrots, corn, sticks, all ready to be use to decorate the snowman. It only made her more excited, happy that she wouldn't have to go searching for everything. The girl would take off her gloves, stuffing them into her pocket before beginning to make a snowball. Snow packed together, her hands grew colder until she had her sphere of snow, placing it on the ground and shimmying her hands back into the gloves. From there, the girl would roll the snowball, allowing the fallen snow to collect on the ball, growing in size. She would pat it down a few times or roll it in circles to try and keep it even. Her main worry was getting the rest of the body on, careful to not make the bottom too large.
This would be repeated, making herself a smaller sphere of snow. The first year would crouch down and attempt to bring the smaller snowball up and onto her larger sphere. Having very little muscle and restricted movement, it seemed more challenging than necessary. Finally, the girl would partially launch the ball up, quick to press her arms down against the top to somewhat adhere the bottom and top together. It was alright, as centered as Lea could make it without spending an extra hour. Plus, it looked good so far. A smile would form, happy with her progress and hesitant to continue.
The head would be formed, smallest but also the furthest from the ground. The hufflepuff would whisper a few words, a hope that this would all work out and she wouldn't have to redo the entire thing. This time, the head would be rolled atop, again press down to create a surface that it could balance on. Lea took a step back with a smile-
and then the entire thing started to tip.
"Ack!" The girl rushed forward, pushing against the fall until it seemed to be in an okay position. Still tilted to one side, but at least it wasn't completely falling over. Time to work on decorations.
The girl would walk over to where the assortment was, picking up two sticks to cradle in her arms before debating which pieces of coal to get. Ultimately, the girl decided on two medium-sized chunks and a third large one. Bringing them back over, she had accepted her snowman as the one about to fall over. It could even be named, "The Leaning Tower of Snowman." The smile grew as she went to work, adding the sticks as arms and the two-medium size coal as eyes. The large chunk would be the mouth, a look of surprise. The girl would quickly race over to grab a carrot before adding the nose.
It seemed completed. And yet-
Her second scarf was put to use, wrapped around the "neck" of the snowman. Some house elves would wander over, bringing the snowman to life. It would bounce around, jokingly tipping over farther before springing back up to where it was before. Upon her request, the two would sing "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer", her voice significantly quieter than the snowman's, but as joyful. This had been a wonderful experience, glad that she had actually decided to join.

Do You Want to Build a Snowman?
"Syl! Thank you for organizing this!" Aaron was out-of-breath as he placed himself in front of the Ravenclaw Prefect who was hosting the snowman errand. He had run from the common room to the Grounds, worried for a moment that he had missed the time that the errand was taking place. He tried to even out his breathing as he smiled broadly at his friend. After sharing space-related facts for months now, Aaron considered the boy his friend even if they had not properly hung out. And that was sure to change later this month when Aaron carried out his Moontrimmer plan! Sylvain would surely want to join him for that!
"I'm gonna build a snow spaceman wizard astronaut.. guy!" Aaron declared, explaining why he had brought his broom with him to the event. It was clutched proudly as ever in his right hand as he stood before the Prefect. "You should come see it when you're done with yours," Aaron invited, excited at the prospect of getting Sylvain's opinion on his creation. With that said, he left the Ravenclaw boy to his own devices, and found an empty spot in the grounds for his masterpiece.
Aaron was bundled up in his winter cloak, gloves, boots and even earmuffs! The second-year Hufflepuff was well-prepared for this event from the last time he had done this. As he began to form a snowball and roll it around the ground to gather more snow, he was reminded of when he and Lydia had properly met @Willow Anderson and @Euphaustus Boppity. Over in the courtyard they had built an "army" of snowmen (meaning two snowmen) and a giant snowman leader called Napoleon. It had been really fun bonding with all of them and carrying on a tradition that he usually did at home with his siblings.
Soon enough, Aaron had the base of his snowman created and was working on the middle piece. The same process, forming a snowball and rolling it around. He was very concentrated on his work for once, and so it didn't take long at all. He struggled only a little bit lifting this middle part onto the bottom, but he was a strong kid. He trained for both taekwondo and for Quidditch. Lastly was the head of the snowman, which was again formed the same way, just a bit smaller than the other parts. Lifting this was not hard, but he did have to stretch slightly on tiptoe to properly place it.
And now was the fun part! Aaron hurried to the collection of clothes and other decoration pieces, grabbing a carrot, stones, stick arms and a handful of random buttons. Back at his snow spaceman wizard astronaut guy, Aaron began by putting two black button eyes, a carrot nose, and stone smile. Then he placed a series of random buttons down the middle of the snowman. He would've preferred to use a zipper, to make it seem like he was wearing a spacesuit, but he wasn't about to ruin a coat just to get a zipper.
The final touch was placing the stick arms. He angled one to be up and reaching for the sky. The other one he angled straight out parallel to the ground so it could support his broom. He carefully leaned his broom against this arm, to make it look like he was holding it. And now, Aaron took a few steps back to admire his creation. It's just that... there was something missing. He tilted his head slightly, wondering what it was...
A helmet! Aaron grinned broadly at the thought. He looked around the grounds, wondering if there were any fourth years who could cast the bubble-head charm. The only reason he knew it was taught in fourth year was because of when he had needed it cast for his Halloween costume. Aaron didn't recognize any upperclassmen in the area, which was a bit disappointing, but he turned back to his snow spaceman wizard astronaut guy with a smile nonetheless. He was made of snow. Of course he wouldn't need the oxygen provided by a helmet. And he wouldn't mind the cold of space, hence why he didn't have a scarf or anything like that. He was perfect just as he was! Unless... Well, he did recall seeing a round vase inside the castle that could probably be enlarged to fit over his head... It would make it a lot more clear he was an astronaut rather than just a snowman with a broom!

Rose loved to build snowmen. It was a brilliant idea to do, and Rose arrived on the grounds of Hogwarts to find a snowman workshop of some sort. She couldn't help but smile. There had been a lot of things going on recently, things she had kept quiet and not really told anybody about, mostly because she didn't want to be told she did something wrong. She deserved to be mad at her mom, and didn't want to make up with her. She wanted her mom to apologize first. Yeah, maybe she was being dramatic.
Anyway, Rose was all bundled up on this day, and the way the sun shone on the snow made it blindingly white, covering everything Rose could see. The little things that peeked through the white made it look like a winter wonderland. Oh, Rose loved how much it snowed during the winter here in the United Kingdom. And it would snow and snow and snow, until there was no more snow left to snow. And then it would build up its stores for next year. Rose just loved the little flakes that fell from the sky. It was just like rain- sometimes it would come down hard, but sometimes it would let up. It was simply just slower than rain was, and, a little more beautiful. But much, much more cold.
Rose decided she would start with building the vague outline of her snowman. The redhead would crouch down, starting to gather some snow into a ball. Slowly and steadily, she made her first boulder-looking lump of snow that would belong to her snowman. It was his butt. Yes, she had successfully made a snowman butt. She would continue, making her second ball of tightly packed snow on the ground next to it. Her shoes made crunches every time she took a step, and she heaved the ball upwards. Carefully, so as to not let it fall apart in her arms, she slowly made her way over the couple feet it took to place the second ball on top of the first. She stepped back, to see if it would hold. Whether the smaller ball had not been as expertly crafted as the first, or because the surfaces were not as flat, as to allow for the snowman holding up, Rose’s stomach dropped as the second large snow-boulder crumbled in on itself.
Even though the second-year was disappointed in her own failure, Rose started to gather the snow once again. Instead of making it entirely a ball this time, Rose packed one side in flat. Before she picked it up to be taken over to the first, bigger snowball, Rose would pat down the top, making it curve into more of a flat surface for the head to rest on. Then, she would pull the first ball up against gravity, putting it slowly on the first one. And it held! “There. Now you have a body, Mr. Snow,” she said. The hard part was done.
Rose knew, as she watched others dance and sing with their snowmen, that they could be brought to life, so Rose pushed some snow up, rounding it, to make some legs for Mr. Snow.
Now all she would need to do was decorate the snowman. “Be right back.” Rose went over to where the accessories for the snowmen rested, gathering up her materials, which included some coal and buttons, a scarf, a hat, and some twigs. She twisted the red scarf around his neck area (he didn’t really have a neck, but the place where his head met the rest of his body) and placed a top hat on his head. She would push some coal into the snow where his eyes and mouth were, and the carrot right in the middle. It was a fairly stubby carrot, to be fair, and it fit the snowman just perfectly. Rose smiled, picking up the mismatched buttons and putting them on. The last thing she would do was stick his arms in their place.
Maybe he needed a companion. Everyone needs a friend. Maybe he would get a little friend. Rose started to gather up some snow, making a small snowgirl. Yeah, it was going to be a girl. She wasn’t sure if anyone here was making a snowgirl- snowmen were popular, but she was going to make a little midget girl out of snow. She was only about as tall as Rose’s arm, and had the same body structure as her big buff friend beside her. She was decorated as well, with a smaller scarf and top hat.
Rose stepped back to survey her work. What would she name them? She had called the bigger one “Mr. Snow,” before, and to be honest, it was starting to grow on her, so she decided to just keep that name. The other one she would name Emma, but for no reason in particular.
She asked a house-elf to bring them to life, and they kindly did, with a wave of their hand. Mr. Snow blinked at Rose happily, standing up. Emma would scurry up his arm, standing on his shoulder. “Sing a carol with me!” he said, making Rose smile.
“Yes, yes!” Emma would agree.
They would start singing, Mr. Snow hooking his arm in Rose’s to twirl them around.
“It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Everywhere you go
Take a look in the Five & Ten
Glistening once again
With candy canes and silver lanes aglow…”
Even though it was after Christmas, Rose figured snowmen and snowgirls always had Christmas spirit. The redhead would start singing along with them, while Mr. Snow and Emma did their own solo of a dance.
“It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Toys in every store
But the purdy-est sight to see
Is the holly that will be on your own front door!”
Rose laughed, clapping her hands. “Bravo!” Mr. Snow would then sit down, Emma sitting beside him. Rose smiled. Oh, she had needed this today.
he wanted her mom to apologize first. Yeah, maybe she was being dramatic.

Do You Want to Build a Snowman?
Although the chill nipped at her nose as she left the cozy confines of the castle, Cecily couldn't resist the magical allure of glistening snow. The hills covered in powder and ice was a rare sight at home, so at Hogwarts, the Irish girl rarely missed an event in the white January landscape. Especially when it involved making new friends.
Oh, who was she kidding? Making new friends was the last thing she wanted to do, just in general. It was nothing against the people, of course-- they were usually very nice-- it was simply the awkwardness, the nervousness, the uncertainty that accompanied talking to someone new. But @Sylvain Wyllt, her successor as Ravenclaw Prefect, had personally invited her to build a snowman with him today, and there was something about the whited-out scenery that put Cecily in a better mood. If this errand were at any other time of year, there was a low chance of Cecily attending-- as proven by her low track record with making appearances at past errands. But it was a Saturday, and there was snow on the ground, and by Merlin, she was going to build a snowman.
As she trudged through the deep snow to where the errand had been set up, she breathed into her hands, trying to keep everything warm at once. She had dressed appropriately for the weather, of course, complete with a blue and bronze scarf wrapped snugly around her neck, but there were some winds of which the bitterness could not be assuaged. Yet, her spirits remained high as she spotted Sylvain through the gathering of people, both flesh and snow alike. His errand seemed to be a big hit. Cecily was glad-- the single errand she had once put on went, well, significantly worse, although she was sure there were better ways she could've planned it out.
She weaved through the crowded area, avoiding dancing snowmen and ducking under flying stick arms. Holiday carols drifted through the air, the discordant noise assaulting her ears. She couldn't keep a smile off of her face as she made her way towards the younger Ravenclaw, pulling her hat down farther over her ears. "Hey, Sylvain!" she called out upon approaching where he stood. "Ready to build a snowman?"

Do You Want to Build a Snowman?
It was a new year, and while the start of the school year had been rocky and confusing, he had found himself a center. It was in no little part thanks to his friends-- especially Bridget and Sylvain. Even though he had been attending errands less since his burnout from first year, he was excited to hear that Sylvain was putting one on himself. Ones that included chocolate as a reward were generally ones he avoided. He didn't like chocolate, for one. Nevertheless, he was starting to realize that the usefulness of the reward was not the only thing to consider when choosing how to spend his time. Sometimes, the reward was... having fun. It was difficult to let go of the idea of spending his time super optimally, bit it didn't take much deliberation for this case. More than the snowman itself, he was hoping to see Sylvain and the participants enjoying themselves.
When he arrived, he saw there were already many snowmen around, laughter, and singing. It seemed like a huge success. It was almost like a scene out of a children's book, with animated snowmen and the smiling faces of children. Flash smiled too, without having noticed the feature growing on his face. His friend had only been prefect for a short while, but he seemed to fit into the role almost effortlessly. Flash wasn't new to this phenomena though-- he was likely sorting through a lot of hard work besides how much fun he seemed to be having now. As he was surrounded by others, Flash simply waved at him from across the way when he caught his glance.
As for the building itself, Flash realized he might have done well to bring an expert along. He assumed since it was an activity meant for children it would be simple, or self-explanatory. Looking around though, it was... balls of packed snow? Vaguely humanoid? He studied the examples around him briefly, the back of his mind telling him that Willow would likely have been a natural at this. He wished he could simply text her, but he resigned to just giving it his best shot on his own. Knowing Sylvain, he would be happy as long as he had fun doing it. Another opportunity to go beyond the bounds of restriction and do something freeform.
Suited up for the cold appropriately, he keeled on the ground and gathered the surrounding snow into an orb, packing it as he went. It wasn't exactly the easily material to work with, as it didn't stay put when he placed it. He caught a glimpse of someone rolling snow, so got up and attempted that. It was also not working as intended, leading to mild frustration. How was he supposed to be creative when the material was so unforgiving? If only he could direct someone else to do it... he had to stop thinking that way. Fun... fun... had to focus on trying to enjoy it rather than how it was going wrong.
Packing as big a ball as he could, he started to roll it to some success. Once the ball was big enough, he started a second one to place upon it. He knew what snowmen looked like, despite living in seclusion. They were a part of popular culture, after all. Generally they were three balls stacked upon each other for head, torso, and bottom. A makeshift face. When the torso proved to be a shaky foundation, he decided to forgo the three-part structure for a two-part one. No one said he needed to make it exactly so. From there, he decided to add some snowy cat ears and a tail, putting some twigs for its whiskers and some coal for the eyes and the kitty nose. He inscribed the cat mouth with one gloved finger, satisfied with his improvisation. He did not want to see this animated, however, and therefore was not going to ask. He feared the movement would just make the whole thing instantly fall apart. He was no expert snow builder, for sure.
Still, the fresh air had been nice, as were the sounds of playing children. He also hoped Sylvain would be happy with his choice, perhaps find the snow cat cute. The only thing missing was some hot tea. He figured that would be the first thing he went for when he got back inside.
When he arrived, he saw there were already many snowmen around, laughter, and singing. It seemed like a huge success. It was almost like a scene out of a children's book, with animated snowmen and the smiling faces of children. Flash smiled too, without having noticed the feature growing on his face.

Do You Want to Build a Snowman?
Aquamin first decides to dress warmly so that he doesn't freeze to death. She shouldn't get frostbite and die before making a snowman. She dresses on her long johns and wears a simple jacket on top. On top of that, she wears a thick jumper, earplugs, and finally boots and gloves. I think we're almost ready.
She takes care of the supplies first. First, her supplies are paper cups, carrots, water spray, buckets, branches, and paints. The branches are used to make eyes, nose, mouth, and arms. Also, paper cups are perfect for making piles of snow in the shape of a cone. Also, she prepared a water spray to harden the snowman. A bucket is used to carry snow. Carrots are used to make noses like any snowman.
Aquamin first finds good land. She managed to make a snowman, and it shouldn't fall over or melt quickly. She goes out looking for flat land. Also, land with all the floors made of stone is not good. Because she can get hurt while making a snowman, and it's hard to make a ball of snow. She managed to find the flat ground. Now she has to find a place with good eyes. After a few days of snow, the snow freezes and melts repeatedly and becomes impossible to clump, so she looks for land where the snow has melted snow. Now she's found some of those lands. There are still steps left for her to find a good land. She looks for a land with little grass, or a sidewalk brick. Where there is grass, the snowman gets dirty. She also found that kind of land. The final step is to find a land with little sunlight. Aquamin found the perfect land with shade behind the tree.
Now that she has found the right land, Aquamin has begun to clump her eyes. She had one snowball large and the other small. Also, if her eyes fall while clumping, she spray them to make them stick. Before I knew it, when she finished the two snowballs, she decided to put them together. First, she placed a small snowball on a large snowball, put some snow between the two, and then sprayed water to harden it. Now all we have to do is decorate the snowman!
First, she embellishes the snowman's face. She made the snowman's face out of branches and carrots, and then made her hair out of leaves that had fallen around her. She also made a bucket used to move her eyes into a snowman's hat and put it on it. Then, she made the snowman's arm out of two branches. She also made buttons for the snowman out of the stones around her. Then, she repeatedly put her eyes in a paper cup and clumped into a column, put the snowballs together and made them look like cakes, and put branches on top to make snowman's cake. And she named the snowman Wilson.
She finished making the snowman, but there are still many steps left. First Aquamin pushed all the snow and leaves that fell around the snowman to different places, then she only brought clean snow and laid them around the snowman. She also put the scarf she was wearing around the snowman. Then she brought colorful pebbles and decorations on the cake and decorated it. She also used pink paint to paint the snowman's cheeks more lively, and on top of it, she sprayed water to make them firm. Also, she attached some snow where the ground tilted slightly so that it could hold out well. The snowman is almost finished now. She also made countless spherical snowballs, making them look like walls around the snowman. Then it looks like a snowman is inside the house. She thought it would be better to make a bonfire, but she gave up because the snowman would melt. Now the snowman is done. Aquamin is proud and wants to go home and rest now.

Do You Want to Build a Snowman?
It was not a good habit to acquire, perhaps, yet it was one he had acquired long before he had been shipped off to Magic Boarding School. The habit of finding high places, nooks and crannies to climb to so that he could stalk… spy on… people-watch. Which was exactly what he had done when he had seen the flyers advertising a snowman building event. He couldn’t recall a single snowfall in Tokyo that had been heavy enough or lasted long enough for him to have ever built a snowman. Like so many things, it left him curious. What was the appeal of stomping about in the cold, creating snow sculptures? Was it because people are inherently drawn to creating art? He had found a decently climbable tree and managed to scale its somewhat slippery branches and balanced himself in the crook of two branches, watching the events below him unfold.
Sylvain Wylt, a young Ravenclaw he had yet to meet - in fact his contact with those of the House he had most wished to be in had been practically non-existent - was hosting this strange event. As Kazuo watched from his perch, the boy and the house-elves he had recruited for the task had set up an odd assortment of things. A basket of coal, two baskets of vegetables, and a giant sack of… buttons? A large pile of sticks and a chest full of old clothes finished the setup. Were they intending to dress the snowmen?
He didn’t have long to wait for the answer. Soon enough students began to make their way to the clearing to assemble their snow army. He watched as each student began to roll and pack the snow, forming it into balls and stacking the balls on top of each other. Many misshapen snowmen began to form, almost all of them near-identical in their form. Three lumps of snow stacked together, base, middle and head. Then came the decorating, the application of coal, sticks, vegetables and clothing becoming apparent to Kazuo as the students gave their lumps of snow limbs and features. Soon enough there was an army of ridiculously dressed snowmen coming to life with the help of the elves. He watched the singing, dancing snowmen with apathy, the magical trick being the least interesting part of the affair. Instead, his gaze travelled to the smiling faces of the students, wondering how these misshapen snow creations could bring out such happiness. Was it a sense of accomplishment?
He slid out of the tree, landing at the base with a crunch as boots met snow. Bending down he scooped up the fluffy wet stuff forming it into a ball. He didn’t want to make a snowman. But perhaps he could make something else instead. There had been one student he had noticed who hadn’t made a ‘regular’ snowman. The young Slytherin he’d played hockey with, Flash. That boy had made a lumpy sort of snow cat. It had been kind of cute but perhaps Kazuo was a bit biased. He was quite fond of cats, after all. They were one of his favourite creatures. He stared at the ball of snow in his hand, pondering whether or not he could make something simpler yet, in its own way, more difficult.
He dropped the snowball and began to pack snow around it, not to make a ball as the other students had but instead to form a shorter, longer shape. Once he had a solidly packed mound of snow, he carefully began to remove snow in some places, carving away at it in others, until the lump slowly began to take a shape. Less building and more sculpting, Kazuo gave his shape limbs, a tail, a long nose and pointy ears. Slowly his other favourite creature began to form, a fox lying down in the snow. Once he was satisfied with his first attempt at snow creation, he set to creating a second one, this time making a mound of snow that was taller and rounder. Still not a snowman, but this snow fox would be sitting up. Time passed without notice as he worked on his creations, the only telling mark of how long he had been at it was the chill that had set into his hands, the gloves he was wearing only able to fend off so much cold after being plunged into the snow so frequently. He finally stepped back from his creations, stripping the soaked gloves from his hands and rubbing them together to warm them up. A smile, perhaps a bit sad, perhaps full of longing.
An elf approached, ready to animate his creations as it had done for the rest of the snow army. Kazuo glanced at the elf then shook his head firmly. “No. Leave them alone.” He said sharply. They needed no magic to animate them, no false life to mimic the real thing. He didn’t trust the elves. He didn’t want them to ruin his silly creations. With the task complete and his hands starting to feel numb, Kazuo abandoned the field and the misshapen army, seeking the cozy warmth of his dorm and his books.

Do You Want to Build a Snowman?

It felt weird, standing outside during winter with no one to accompany her, or perhaps guard was the better word. Arissa knew that if her parents find out about this, they wouldn't be happy. After all, she had just recovered from a fever during the holidays - it would be totally absurd for her to just expose herself within the coldness of the winter, even if she wore a lot of layers, more than anyone else in this vicinity, she assumed. Arissa always thought that winter would be the prettiest season of the year, even if that's when she often find herself stuck to her bed, suffering from the cold. Despite that, the blonde haired girl still made her way to the venue of the winter event, inwardly hoping that there wouldn't be any consequences to her health after this.
If her luck ran out and that happened, well, she just have to make sure nothing escape her mouth the next time she meet her parents. The Slytherin had always wanted to try make her own snowman without anyone else bothering her with their worries, so she decided to join the event.
When Arissa arrived at the scene, there's already a number of students there, rolling the snow and building their own snowman. They seemed quite happy, especially when the sound of carol came out from the mouth of their winter creation. Arissa herself couldn't help but raised her eyebrows at the scene of dancing and singing snowmen a few feet from where she stood. She knew that she ought to not be that surprised, considering the fact that this is Hogwarts, that kind of scene should have been normal.
Yes, she's definitely did not harbor any feelings of jealousy at that scene.
Grabbing what she needed for her snowman - carrot, twigs, buttons, and coal, Arissa walked to the least populated area she saw, and started her work. Scooping up a handful of snow in her hand, she began to shape it to form a round shape, before rolling it forward to make it bigger. It turned out to be harder than it looked, as Arissa found herself panting after two minute or so, secretly wondering whether building a snowman was that hard or she just lack physical strength. Despite her fatigue, both her hands still placed on the snowball, patting it lightly so that the excess snow wouldn't fall off. After a while, the bottom part of the snowman was completed.
She repeated the same process for the middle section of her snowman, while making sure the size was appropriate, and not too big. Arissa was not totally ignorant of the fact that she was now alone, with no one to help her to carry this snowball of hers. She originally thought of making the biggest snowman in the area, but she figured she should be humble. And smart. Her legs swayed a little as she lifted the snowball and placed it on the bottom part and flatten it so that they firmly stuck together - she would rather not redo the whole process again, it was extremely tiring.
Scooping another handful of snow, she proceed to pack it with her hands before placing it onto the body. It was a bit shorter than Arissa herself, but the height was very appropriate for the final process - decorating the snowman. Before that however, she need to smooth out the entire snowman, using a bit of snow to make it looked structured. For the process of decorating, she first started with the face, using the coals and carrot as its eyes and nose respectively. As for the hands, she placed two twigs to each side of the middle section, and stepped back to view her work.
"Not too shabby. I'm quite talented in this." She exclaimed proudly, before she heard the sound of footsteps from behind. Seeing as the creature looked timid enough, the girl decided to help him a bit. "Can you make this snowman dance just like that one over there?" Pointing out to the nearby dancing snowman, Arissa asked the elf rather politely. He nodded slowly before snapping his fingers, and she found herself smiling in delight as the snowman slowly moved and in a matter of seconds, dancing merrily.Word Count: 717 words
