She was fairly certain the blonde girl knew the real name of the school, but purposely chose to warp and make fun of it…

No, she wasn't going to say anything…

No, she didn't have any reason to be scared of her. Not yet, anyway…

Yes, she could probably duel her…

Mimblewimble, Expelliarmus, and Flipendo, in that order…

What did he mean by "could"? Obviously, nothing could stop him from casting a spell if he wanted to…

Jayden's brain had already answered August's thousand-mile-per-hour questions, faster than she could put them into words, before he finally gave pause to show off his wand trick, switching Jayden's focus and brushing the other questions aside.

"Neat," Jayden said with a complementing smile, turning her attention to August's latest rapid-fire questions.

"Far from it. Been in the Duelling Club for two years, since first year. I'm a third year, by the way." August might be a little too hyper and talkative for her taste, but so long as he had an interest in Duelling, Jayden would patiently amuse him. "As for tips… Try not to take things too personal." She gave a small, comforting smile. "You gotta have a tough skin, and be open to learning, so… get used to humbling yourself." It was a hard truth, one that many Duellests failed to grasp if they wanted to thrive in the sport. More of a mental than physical challenge, really. "Fact is, you're gonna get beat up a lot before you win a match. And it's not just you on your own. It's a team effort. We all learn and help one another, so…don't try to keep everything to yourself."

She was half-listening to the chatter between the blonde girl [Erin Ryan] and a turquoise-tattooed guy [Kit Paine] (another Hogwarts staff?), before her attention peeled over to August's side remark.

"Eh…Not my first word for it." Honestly the death witch claim was just as confusing to her as some of the staff and students appeared to be.

But nevermind death witches and Duelling. There was the much anticipated Broom race to look forward to, and the Ball after that!

"So… got anyone special you're going with to the Ball?" There were no underlying motives, aside from simple curiosity, that prompted Jayden to poke August about it.

A mental sweat drop ran down his forehead as the Caretaker @Kit Paine continued to speak, getting bolder by the second. WhatToDoWhatToDoWhatToDo the internal panic continued. This was not going at all as he had expected or intended. What was with this school?! "No no! I like women! Straight as an arrow!" He quickly added as the odd man had already turned his back and started to walk off, giving up with trying to be polite and civil - and just go with being blunt. Lazarus had no idea if Kit - no, Mister Paine, yes - could hear him but he said it anyway to try and get himself out of this request. There was no way he was going to the ball with him, after all!

Lazarus sighed a breath of relief as he spotted a lady [@Maya Galim] approach. Was she the same one from last year? He honestly could not recall... Half the group were wearing masks and the other half of his attention was taken by the chaos happening. Either way, he was thrilled to see her. This could be his escape from the entire situation! "Ah! Thank you, Miss," He paused. Did he even know her name? Not wanting to get it wrong, he settled for a generic title for now. Giving an extravagant bow of his head and upper body as he greeted her, "Our journey went well, everyone enjoyed themselves. I am most definitely pleased to be here, however," He added with a smile to the attractive female. Most of the students would likely say otherwise, given how long he had made the journey. However, in his mind, they all enjoyed it! "Care to join me?" He asked, offering his arm in an attempt to journey back towards the castle - and away from that Paine man.

Maya did not expect for a man who, according to the rumors and from the way they entered onto Hogwarts campus, seemed to be full of himself to remember her name. It did not bother her though. They had only met once last year and not for a long period of time. Last year during the Masquerade Ball, Maya remembered that they were to have a dance. But she never was able to give him one for obvious reasons. She hoped that perhaps this year, it may be different.

"You can call me Maya," she said, a small smile forming from her crimson red lips. She wondered if he really was pleased to be here. No one liked to be away from their home; especially to a place that no one would find positive. Maya nodded when he had asked her to join him.

"Why, of course."

She took her hand and delicately placed it on his arm. She began to walk towards the castle entrance where they were to be greeted by the rest of the campus staff and students. Maya could sense the amount of power that this man possessed. To be head of a well-known school in the Americas, Maya sensed a bit of want from the man.

"What is it like leading the next generation of American wizardry?" she asked, feeding into his ego by implying his power.

Oh, all right. So the red-cloaked professor's attention seemed to be fully focused on Headmaster Plott. Gregorí turned back to his best friend Andrew. "I'm sorry," he said. "I didn't think - I mean - I'll just find another staff and then I'll be back. Just a moment, Drew."

Gosh, he really did need to ask a staff where the resting area was. His head screamed, demanding to be laid down, preferably on a pillow. The Mexican boy did not even know how long he could hold his stomach anymore. Pale and green all at the same time, Gregorí tried his luck with the Hogwarts caretaker who seemed to debate a student about a tail or something.

He approached Mr Paine (not that he knew the caretaker's name, of course). "Please, Sir," he said politely. "Just a minute of your time. Could you please tell me where Ilvermony students may take a rest?"

He almost added the word "now", but quickly swallowed it back as he did not want the man to misunderstand his request as "tell me right now". But yeah, Gregorí just wanted to lie down and rest. When he tried to speak with Professor Galim earlier, he still managed to let out the words "I'm exhausted from the trip" as an excuse (it was not 100% true of course, he was tired and ill). But now that he tried speaking to a staff for the second time, he really was too exhausted to add any reason or excuse, thus speaking as few words as possible.

The Caretaker who was 'perched in the grass like some teenage girl listening to a girlfriend spill the deets on her crush' did not appear concerned by Erin's eagerness to flee; not this time. Instead, he leaned back from his upright position with his legs still crossed, lazily propping himself up on his arms as his fingers felt the soft blades of grass beneath them.

Still, his heterochromic gaze continued to watch her, glittering with intense interest. His smile remained full with the casual confidence of someone who was getting his way or was certain he would be able to when all was said and done. It did not matter to him that she was inching her way toward departure. They were bound to run into each other again sooner or later; he was certain of it.

"I will fight. I will lose. I will die. Just today rather than tomorrow, if you can find me," the Slytherin girl told him. "But thus far I seem to be too much of a bother to kill."

"'Too much of a bother to kill'?" He repeated musingly. "Are you certain? Or could it be that you're too much of an asset?"

Nevertheless, he made no move to stop her as she got back to her feet. Her body seemed tensed, as if to dart off at the first opportunity that presented itself, and she hoped to test if that opportunity was now. Kit continued to observe and beam at her, but did not take any action toward or against her own. Once she was out of sight, he returned his attention to his fellow adults nearby, making no move to get up from where he still sat back in the grass.

"No no! I like women! Straight as an arrow!" Plott had said. The memory caused Kit's grin to broaden into one resembling a Chesire Cat's yet again.

"...Is that so?" He muttered under his breath. "What a pity..." What a pity that he felt he had to lie. Kit supposed it didn't technically have to be percieved as a lie, since the headmaster hadn't said 'I only like women' or 'I'm only interested in pursing romantic relationships with women'. Nor had he elaborated on the specific meaning of his sentence fragment 'straight as an arrow'. Still, the implication he had been trying to make was clear - and Kit wasn't buying it.

He wasn't about to call the other man out on it either, however. If Lazarus Plott wanted to demonstrate how bad he was at lying about his preferences, then all the better. At least it seemed to tell Kit that the American headmaster wasn't all that great at hiding things. Well...at least not from what he'd shown so far. Still, he was worth keeping an eye on due to the fact he clearly did make an effort to hide things at all.

Kit cocked his head as he listened to and saw the exchange between Maya and Lazarus, his focus lingering on them long enough to watch them link arms before transferring to the Ilvermony student who had previously been trying to ask Professor Galim a question. Evidently, she had been too preoccupied with Plott to notice, but the student didn't seem to take personal offense.

"Guess we both got abandoned, huh, kid?" he called to the boy (Gregorí Erkens) with a good-natured smile, sitting forward again. The boy had turned to talk to another (Andrew Lycan) before going over to Kit. The Caretaker pushed himself off the ground at last and dusted his clothes of grass and dirt.

"Please, Sir," he spoke up. "Just a minute of your time. Could you please tell me where Ilvermony students may take a rest?"

"Of course. You must be exhausted," the caretaker answered with an accomodating nod. "Sorry you weren't heard the first time. The teachers are often pretty busy and on their toes around here; especially as of late. It's easy for them to miss when people are trying to get their attention. I'm the Caretaker, though - Kit Paine, but Kit's fine - so I'd be happy to help with that."

He looked Gregorí over, crossing his arms over his chest. "If you want to rest, I'm sure they must have your rooms ready by now. But if you didn't want to wait until you're shown those, there are beds in the Hospital Wing you can lie in for a time. Or, if you're too weary to make it to there, I wouldn't mind carrying you." The tall young man crouched to show he was serious, offering his back in case the student cared to take him up on it.

Mr Kit Paine, the Hogwarts caretaker, apologised on behalf of the red-cloaked professor. He also smiled good-naturedly and tried to crack a joke, or at least that was how Gregorí perceived it.

The Mexican boy smiled weakly at him. Gregorí had felt slightly intimidated by Mr Paine when he first saw the adult, but now that they were talking, he did not seem very bad. No, on the contrary, he looked like a helpful person. Very extrovert perhaps, but not nosy and it seemed that he understood Gregorí needed some personal space.

Just like Drew, his best friend.

When he thought about it again, maybe Drew and Mr Paine really were quite similar.

"... there are beds in the Hospital Wing you can lie in for a time," said Mr Paine at the end of his explanation. Inside, Gregorí groaned. He really disliked hospital and all those things like that. The caretaker mentioned that the beds for Ilvermony students ought to be ready for them to use, but at the same time, it looked like that he did not have the rights to let Gregorí use the room before a professor (presumably Headmaster Plott) ushered the kids in. Therefore, at the end, he suggested the Hospital Wing.

As much as Gregorí hated the idea, between resting in the Hospital Wing and doing whatever activity was planned to welcome the Ilvermony group's arrival, he chose the Hospital Wing.

Mr Paine seriously offered to gave him a piggyback ride, but Gregorí was adamant that he would not offer it. He was too proud. But of course, he did not say it out loud. Instead, he replied, "Thank you, Mr Paine, but I think I'll just walk there... would you mind showing the way?"

And then, turning to his closest friend, "You're coming, Drew? Wanna take a rest as well?"

Drew was super concerned about Greg. He confessed he was tired. Drew decided to believe him, even if not all the way. He asked the lady with the red cloak about lying down, but was overlooked. He didn't blame the teacher, it was chaotic out here. But he was sure it discouraged Greg, especially when he did really need to lie down. "Yeah, of course." Drew hovered behind his friend, watching him talk to the other adult. This time, they responded, offering for him to go to the Hospital Wing to take a rest. Gregorí accepted and turned to Drew, asking if he was coming as well. Drew didn't want to leave his friend alone, especially in a new school like Hogwarts. Especially if Lazarus Plott had become serious to warn them about how dangerous this school was. He was never serious about anything, but he had cautioned them to be careful.

Drew nodded. "Sure, I'll come with you and take a rest. I didn't get any sleep last night." That was true, at least. Drew had been so excited he had barely even slept last night, not that it was hindering him now. He really just wanted to go with Greg, wanting to protect his best friend.

Encouraged by the hispanic young man's smile, weak though it was, Kit chuckled softly. "Sorry; I know the Hospital Wing beds probably aren't the most comfortable, but I..." He paused, thinking. "...Actually," he continued after a moment, "I might have access to your rooms after all. I just hope you won't be expected anywhere until meal time. Though if you are and I find out about it, I can come fetch you"

He was unable to help grinning still when the boy turned down his offer of a piggyback ride and got back up on his feet yet again. Turning back around to face the remaining two students, he shook his head, rubbing the back of his neck. "Aw, c'mon. Didn't I ask you to just call me 'Kit'? Mr. Paine seems a bit...formal if not peculiar enough on its own, don't you think...?" His gaze followed the boy's to his friend, addressing the other as 'Drew' as he asked if he wanted to join them.

"Sure, I'll come with you and take a rest. I didn't get any sleep last night."

Kit's nearly ever-present smile faultered briefly at the confession, his brows shooting up as he whistled in surprise. "You haven't? Sheesh, guys; you must not be in the Wampus house like I was. We might not have known much, but at least we knew to take better care of our bodies than that. Don't you know how much damage a whole night's lack of sleep can do to you?"

With a small sigh, he waited until the students looked ready to follow him and then began to head in the direction of the campgrounds. "Should be this way. There are cabins set up as temporary residences for all the visiting schools. Since you two will be first for yours, you can have your pick of the beds you want."

Jayden was eager to see where (and what) her new quarters would be, and thus her attention was hooked when she overheard [Gregorí Erkens] and [Andrew Lycan] bring up the topic to one of the Hogwarts staff, the Caretaker, Kit Paine - just Kit, he insisted. Fine by her, since Americans tended to be more loose with formalities anyway. Jayden curled a smile at the young man with the striking heterochromatic gaze. He seemed like a friendly, playful sort. A little odd-looking but…curiously appealing to her.

She wasn't about to be left behind! Jayden was drawn over, eavesdropping a ways before gingerly butting into the conversation.

"Oh, we can call dibs?" Her eyes lit up excitedly, in response to Kit's comment about picking which beds they wanted. "I'm coming, too!" She said in a hushed tone, as if she were embarking on some secret quest. Of course she wanted to claim the best bed for herself, if she could get it!

"Oh, and you said you were a Wampus, too?" Jayden asked Kit. "I'm a Wampus! Third year. I'm Jayden Holt. You can call me Jay, if you like," she introduced herself, acknowledging [Gregorí] and [Andrew] with the info and a cheery smile as well.

"So, you went to school in Ilvermorny?" Jayden piped up curiously to Kit. "Why did you come here? To Hogwarts?"

"Our camp beds sound good," Gregorí nodded and thanked the Hogwarts caretaker, Mr Paine - or Kit, as the adult man himself preferred. His spirits rose slightly hearing that he and his best friend could choose the beds first. "Did you hear that? Let's choose beds that are side by side!" he excitedly said to Drew - as excited as an ill Gregorí Erkens could be, that is.

Mr Paine (Gregorí still felt awkward to call him Kit, it would sound that the adult was a kid like himself!) also mentioned about the possibility that professors might want the Ilvermony students to assemble before meal time, but the Mexican boy certainly hoped that would not be the case. In fact, he was even considering to skip meal! He was just too exhausted to care about eating... he might as well sleep until the following morning...

The boys were following the caretaker, who was mentioned that he was in Wampus house as an Ilvermony pupil himself. Gregorí was just going to ask where Mr Paine was from and why he decided to work at Hogwarts instead when another student joined them and asked exactly those questions. It was a third year, and she said that she was also in Wampus, so there was nothing else for Gregorí to say except "Drew here is also a Wampus" in order to show that he was listening.

The senior student introduced herself as Jayden Holt (or "Jay" for short) and our Latino boy nodded politely. Inside, however, he honestly felt annoyed. The air was free for everyone to breathe, yes, but he did not like people suddenly just jumped into a conversation he was having and started talking much, particularly people he did not know well. Moreover, for him it seemed that Jay was nosily listening to their conversation - although, to be fair, they did not really make it a secret conversation either.

Gregorí hoped the campgrounds was not far. His eyelids were getting heavier as sleepiness began to wash over him. And.. what was happening to him besides drowsiness? Why did he feel everything spinning? You're dizzy, said a voice inside, and he grew panic. He did not want to fall down and attracted people's attention, or made Drew worry and fuss over him.

As something rose on his throat, Gregorí felt that control began to helplessly slip from his grasp. First sleepiness, and then dizziness, and now nausea. "Excuse me," he muttered, dashing away from the three of them - Drew, Kit, and Jay - and amazed himself that he could still move as quick as that. Hiding himself from their sight behind a tree (as best as he could, that is), Gregorí brought up his latest meal and water. (I'm sorry! he shouted inside his head to anyone taking care of Hogwarts grounds.) Closing his eyes, the Mexican boy just hoped that nobody saw, or realized, what was happening.
